I was looking at the 'RPNation customization' thingy and I saw that once I reach 250 posts I have the option to become a Development Advisor. What are the pros and cons of activating that?

Nothing really. If and when the staff of the site have new projects they're working on and want to give a Beta preview or early access for testing/feedback, they'll turn the thread on and show the new feature. You can give feedback if you wish, but there aren't really any pros/cons to it, that I'm aware of.
