Pain is a funny thing. No one knows better than the lonely. The boy at school that no one will approach. The girl who has to make everyone happy. The mom who’s trying her best but can’t do it. The dad who turns to violence because he never learned to know his feelings. The people who wander, who hide from others. Those who are afraid of what people might think of them. Pain is a funny thing. No one knows better than the lonely.

Of keeping everyone happy
Of having to listen to others’ problems
Why can’t anyone do that for me?
I’m tired
Of keeping things bottled up
The person I love most doesn’t know
My friends see a version of me that I have to prepare every day
It’s never enough
I’m tired
Of not being angry
Of never crying when I need to
I’m tired
So if you ask me what’s wrong
You better be prepared for a five hour speech
