Name: Vance Zestus

Aliases:  'Choker' 'Black Specter' 'Zesty' 'Dark Thunder'

Age: 32

Gender: Male

Character Alignment: Chaotic Neutral

Race: Human

Personality:

Vance is quite two-faced. He puts on a comedic, snarky and talkative front with almost all folks that he encounters - even towards people he fears secretly. Though when he manages to get attached to someone, he reveals his moody & depressive nature. He's overly selfish, hence its instinct for him to put himself first and throw others onto the back-burner. An unfair player - one could even call him a spineless coward - since he prefers to attack the weak or the weakened first and frequently hit-and-run against tanky or powerful opponents.

Organisations\Affiliations: Oakvale's Academia of Magick and Alchemy, Bowerstone Mercs, Order of Theft and Termination (located in the impoverished section of Oakvale)

Class: Elementalist (Specialises in Aero Magic than the others)

Family:

Gawayn Zestus (Father)

Veloncia Zestus (Mother)

Jorah Zestus (Little Brother)

Appearance: Usual wardrobe consists of a range of colours that you see on a cloudy or rainy day; in forms of sleeveless tunics and trousers of comfortable fabric. His footwear is simple (shoes or strapped sandals), but at times he goes without them. When out on "business" trips, he wears a charcoal-coloured trench coat. He stands at 5 feet and 7 inches.

Backstory:

Youth

He was born in what one might call the middle-class section of Oakvale. Family relations weren't dreary, but they weren't quite steady either - he spent most of his time alongside Jorah and Veloncia, than Gawayn whom often stayed in Bowerstone to attend to his knightly duties. During this period, he dreamt of becoming a Mage due to his mother's trips to the Academy that taught all sorts of magic. His little brother, however, aspired on being a knight like Gawayn. He didn't understand why Jorah would want to be like that, since Gawayn hardly came home to spend time with them. His dislike for his brother originated from that reason.

Adolescence (14-18)

He had secured an education in Oakvale's Academia of Magick and Alchemy with the help of his mother. He started off as a talentless  student, struggling with most of the arcane arts until elemental magic came up in the curriculum - then his grades rose. His first romance wasn't real to him,  since he was mainly taking advantage of the other boy's wealth. He was the one that was fancied, not vice-versa. Such a relationship didn't last too long and he didn't bother to pick up another one, since he wanted to focus more on his studies. Because of his intense yearning for more knowledge, he had stole spell scrolls, books and tomes from a few local shops. He had sold them once he was done with them.

When he was near to his graduation from the Academy, Jorah had went off with Gawayn to Bowerstone to begin his knight training and his irritation with his little brother grew stronger.

Once graduation had arrived, he had the intention on becoming a mentor for the Academy. However, he had a hidden motive.

Mid-20s

His mentorship at the Academy ended when he successfuly stole a powerful relic scroll of Elemental magic; the whole reason why he became a " respected" teacher was to gain authorization to the chamber where such spells were kept. He left his mother the same day he stole it and had chose to reside in the darker and troubling parts of Oakvale. He hadn't been caught for it and most likely never will, since he had sold it to the black markets, after duplicating its contents for himself.

This the period where he became acquainted with the Order of T & T.

Late 20s

Gawayn had passed away due to injuries and he was there for his funeral at Bowerstone, only observing from a distance. His mother was there, as well was as Jorah. Although he had never came near Gawayn's coffin, Jorah managed to find him and gift him a necklace that their father had given him when he was in training. He never knew why his little brother would give him something so useless, and why he had seemed  so calm and collected after finding out that he was a wanted criminal. Even though he was annoyed and frustrated, he never threw the necklace away.

He stayed in Bowerstone long enough to be enlisted in the Bowerstone Mercs.

Weapons & Armor:

• Retractable Katars - In case the situation prevents him from using his magic. Sharp steel daggers hidden in a sheath strapped to his knuckles; ready to pierce through flesh or hide when trigged by a simple movement of his hands.

Items & Personal Belongings:

• Sword necklace - A memento of his little brother, a small sword intricated with swirling patterns attached to a simple but firm string. Its always cool against his skin.

• Cigarettes - He regularly chews on these than smoke them. When he does light it, he's brooding.

• Toothpicks - When he runs out of cigs, these can do in the mean time.

Skills & Abilities:

• Elemental Magic "Mimic" - Able to learn elemental spells quickly from scrolls, books or repetitive observation. Although he learns it fast, he often doesn't execute it properly without months or even years of practice.

• Thief's Step - Even without the help of his magic, years of stealing for fun, improved his stealth.

• Pickpocket

• Night Owl - Up the whole night and half of the day -- or more if he could muster enough energy.

(TBA)

Spells & Magic:

Aero

Smoke Phantasm (SP) - His entire body transforms into black smoke, thus enhancing his agility and dexterity. He gains the ability to pass through solid structures and glide quickly across spaces. However, he has a vulnerable spot in this form - his head. It takes up the same appearance of vapour, but it can be actually be hit any sort of weapon or magic. He can only cast Aero magic in this form.

Breathless - A deadly spell which deoxygeniates his surrounding vicinity in 15 or more seconds, depending if its in an enclosed or open area. It's a continuous spell, meaning that once activated it has to finish to stop; oxygen returns after 7 seconds or less.

This also effects him, though as long as SP's casted, he'd last longer than average. [I would say that if it does get casted, one post is 5 seconds? This can be discussed if need be] EDIT: [The time limit for the deoxygeniation doesn't exactly apply for NPC monsters: only if they're an actual character of someone else's.]

Wind Slice  - Basic Aero Magic: A horizontal or vertical wave of air that cuts down obstacles that it's aimed at, and disappears upon contact.

(TBA)

Thundraga

Black Bolt - From his fingertips, a streak of black crackling electricity will shock the target. Mobility is reduced greatly for a span of 3 minutes, and target is inflicted with minor burns.

(TBA)

Ignitus

Fireball - Basic Ignitus Magic: Sets things on fire and gives off heat and light.

(TBA)

Aquarius

Water Bullet - Basic Aquarius Magic: Casted in the same way as Black Bolt; hardened droplets of water pierce through enemies or objects/structures. Has a larger range but deals less damage.

(TBA)

Terra

Rock Discus - Basic Terra Magic: Sends rocks in a shape of a disk flying towards enemies. Casted by using hands or feet that're touching the ground to kick or flick towards target. He needs to work on this spell, since he can only work it  on stone surfaces than any other kind of flooring.

(TBA)

Aero/Ignitus/Thundraga Combo [Acquired during the event of ARC in Pg 36]

Black Lightning Flame Cyclone - Using the smoke affinity from Smoke Phantasm, the spell generates a cyclone of suffocating black smoke which is then ignited by Fireball and Dark Bolt

Very nice. Accepted.

You rarely see smokers in Fantasy, so more cigarettes. Interesting concept.
