Foster
Inheritor
Here we go all, somewhere for those lovely character sheets of yours to call home. Gonna leave my W.I.P here as well because hell, who's gonna tell me off for it? Not Foster, that's who.
Personality:
Occupation: Ecologist
Partner Pokémon-
Name: Jupiter
Species: Heracross
Personality: As the Pokémon with the longest standing relationship with Garret, Jupiter and his trainer have reached that stage in their friendship where they're becoming way too alike in personality. They share a braincell so to speak. With that in mind Jupiter is a jovial and chivalrous sort, and the backbone of Garret's little gang. His main quirk is his compulsion to show off his strength, not in battle, but by using his horn to flip whatever heavy objects he comes across. Steel and rock types beware, Jupiter will be fighting the urge to try and bench you the moment he spots you.
Physical description (Anything out of the ordinary?): Jupiter was born with a malformed horn, with the tip not having formed right after his first exoskeleton molt. To aid him in functioning like any other Heracross he has a series of artificial horn tips he can be equipped with. His standard one mimics that of a normal male Heracross horn tip but he has some that are designed with specific tasks in mind like a shovel tip, hammer tip and so on.
Ability: Guts
Pokémon-
Name: Diesel
Species: Torkoal
Personality: Diesel is the heart of Garret's team, a soft and affectionate little tortoise that's always been worthy of the phrase 'mom friend'. Diesel can be fussy and somewhat overbearing at times, but just wants what is best for her friends. Always there to lend a hand (foot I suppose in a Torkoal's case), she's as steadfast and reliable as anyone around. Not to mention she's a portable space heater. Having a toasty little tortoise you can take with you on the go is a fine feather in any explorers cap.
Physical description: Diesel is a pretty standard Torkoal. Her complexion is a bit closer to red than the standard orange of her species (Think the Pokémon Emerald sprite for ref, I just love this colour scheme so much compared to the modern Torkoal look) and she's a little smaller than average but not by a significant amount.
Ability:
Name: Gummi
Species: Pyukumuku
Personality: Hatred and fury bound in a prison of squishy flesh. Gummi doesn't know you and he doesn't want to. Interactions will be met with a swift punch or slap from his intestinal fist. A gut punch if you will. Honestly the only reason Garret even has him is because he's pretty sure Gummi's attitude would get him killed without a prison warden to carry him around.
Physical description: Gummi himself is a perfectly ordinary looking Pyukumuku. That being said it's worth noting that Gummi usually refuses to be contained within a pokeball. He does have one, but it's usually collecting dust on Garret's belt. He much prefers to ride about in Garret's backpack instead, and as such it's got a converted compartment that helps him stay nice and moist. The only real sign of his presence in that backpack is the flap occasionally lifting and a large white hand occasionally emerging to interact with the world. Usually just to bat at things.
Ability:
Name: Garret Thorn
Age: 26
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Heterosexual
Height: 5ft 8
Clothing aesthetics: Garret has a somewhat eccentric style, but to be fair, he’s a somewhat eccentric guy. Opting for clothing similar to the reference above (minus the rifle), what he wears is practical for his adventuring habits and globe trotting occupation. His motto might as well be ‘pockets, pockets, pockets’. Anything less than 4 pockets on a jacket is just not worth wearing in his eyes. The goggles and balaclava aren’t always worn over his eyes and face, but he does keep them to hand in case they’re needed. When you spend as much time off the beaten path as he does they come in handy more often than not. Prefers somewhat drab colours for most of his clothing with splashes of colour thrown in by accessory items.Age: 26
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Heterosexual
Height: 5ft 8
Region of origin: Galar
History: Garret Thorn was born in Hammerlocke with his feet in two different worlds. His mother was a botanist and in charge of some of the largest botanical gardens in the Galar region, leading efforts to study the wide range of fascinating plantlife stored in these artificial oases. This meant that for a large period of his childhood he was left to his own devices in these gardens whilst his mother worked and all things considered they made excellent playgrounds for a young boy. In fact, these immense tropical greenhouses allowed him to pretend he was out helping his father with his occupation, that of a Naturalist. Not content with simply studying what could be found in his home region of Galar, Garret's father soon took on commissions to travel abroad and study a wide range of natural phenomena. He spent several years in Alola studying Z crystals and their origins, with a particular focus on the effects they had on so-called ‘totem pokemon’.
Inspired by both his parents Garret began training to be an ecologist, and followed in his father’s footsteps by focusing his initial studies on Galar but setting his sights on travelling further afield as he became more experienced. Sadly disaster struck before Garret was even able to graduate university. His father had gone missing. He’d travelled to the Origea region roughly 3 months beforehand to study the bizarre patchwork environments of the region and had simply vanished without a trace. Even his colleagues had no idea where he’d gone, claiming his communications had become infrequent and cryptic shortly before he disappeared. Of course the Thorn family was devastated but there were hopes he’d be found which dwindled as the years crawled by. Garret had been prepared to drop everything and go to Origea himself in search of his father but was talked out of it by his mother. Begrudgingly he stuck out the last few months of his university course and went on to become a fully qualified ecologist in his own right.
Fighting his urges to head to Origea, Garret instead focused his studies on the mega evolution phenomena found in Kalos and Hoenn. He spent years trawling these regions, digging deeper into what had sparked the creation of the mysterious stones that allowed Pokemon to temporarily surpass the limits of their biology. He wrote a few papers linking the meteor that hit Hoenn to the energy source supposedly used to fuel the ‘ultimate weapon’ fired in Kalos but found that tales of it being powered by the lifeforce of Pokemon kept getting in the way of any concrete links.
Now with more years of experience under his belt Garret has finally decided to hit Origea and seek out the mystery that his father had vanished researching.
