Oliver was born to two very distant people. When he thinks about his family now, he wonders how exactly his parents got together and somehow had a child. Neither person was warm towards the other and any time the family was together, there was a forced and tense atmosphere that almost smothered him growing up. Due to his parents lack of presence in his life, Oliver was often left to any maids his actress mother and traveling businessman father could hire to take care of him and their estate. While it wasn't the largest they could afford, the two adults preferred to spend their money on more...eccentric items that only someone with their nose in the clouds could appreciate.
Oliver didn't mind too much about his lack of parents, the maids that raised him were enough for him. They showered him with attention and due to this, he gained a very large ego. He has next to no problems with social interactions and enjoys bringing the attention to him. School was something that was easy for him when it came to talking to others, and while he wasn't an academic genius, he wasn't stupid either. Nothing just really spoke to him in high school. Whenever he was asked what exactly he wanted to do, he would just shrug, not having an answer. Until it was the summer before his senior year when he somehow got dragged to one of his school's plays.
It was strange how captured he was by the performance. The next day after their show he'd gone to the theater department and began talking some of the actors he'd seen and suddenly he knew what he wanted to do. Immediately he began working with them and by their next performance, he was on stage in a minor role and he knew. This was what he was going to do. So, his senior year he made sure any application he filled out for college's was the perfect actor's portfolio. When he got accepted into WDU he was ecstatic and so were the maids that had raised him. They were proud of the man he had become even if he was a bit cocky and arrogant. They knew he had a good heart.
It wasn't until his second year that he literally bumped into the person that would change his life. As a gift for surviving his first year at college, the women who had raised him came to visit him and gave him his kitten, who he named Mina, after the woman who had been working for his family the longest. It was the middle of his second year when Mina had escaped his grasp and took off across campus, and while he was chasing after her, he crashed into Maria Powell. After tossing out a lame apology he darted away, managing to catch his runaway kitten a few blocks later.
Later that day, with Mina properly in his pocket, the only safe spot for her, he headed to the campus coffee shop only to be greeted with the girl he'd just recently run over. He instantly cursed himself for his luck but immediately began to try and lay down the charm. To his shock, it failed. Everything he threw at her, she rejected and if he was being honest with himself that was the first thing that attracted him to her. After their banter, somehow - probably due to Mina - the two became friends that danced around each other until the summer before their senior year when they finally just started their relationship, full of Oliver spouting flowery bullshit that disguised how he really felt and Mitzi having none of his shit.
