Ashton is a person with many secrets and rules that he must abide by.

He was the only son born into the Reed household. When he was 3 years old, his parents had to go on a mission trip in Asia and so they left little Ash with his grandfather. They didn't come home their planned time and so Henry, Ashton's grandfather, sent out a search team for the young couple. After two years, it was declared that Ashton's parents died in a car accident. Since Ashton was so young, however, the news didn't affect him much because his memories were mostly with his grandfather.

Ashton grew up in luxury but never acted on it. His grandfather taught him to never take advantage of his life style and to consider those around him. The boy made all A's throughout his school career and became quite famous at his school in Florida. By age 15, he was the most well-known Freshman in the state.

At that time, Ashton met a girl named Olivia. The two instantly clicked, however, after a year of dating, he learned she was diagnosed with an non-treatable form of heart cancer. He was absolutely heartbroken but that didn't stop him from trying to be with her.

By the end of his first semester of Junior year, she passed away in his arms. Ashton immediately moved to Kentucky and lived with his aunt because the memories were too painful.

An outgoing guy, Ashton always has a smile on his face. He can't go an hour without cracking a joke or saying something cheesy and is constantly on the lookout for something entertaining to do. Sometimes he'll run up a hill, other times he'll climb a tree.

Ashton is an extremely fun-loving person. While he tends to lean towards the joker side, he has his moments of being Prince Charming. He won't hesitate to help you whenever you may need it, close friend or not. He'll even take control if the situation seems to be out of hand.

Although Ashton is appears happy and strong, he's actually quite emotional. After the death of his girlfriend, he bottled up the pain and left it somewhere where no one can find it. There are times, however, when he can't keep it in anymore and so he'll run off somewhere no one will disturb him. He's afraid to fall in love again because the pain of losing his first love was unbearable.

Alisa grew up as a very sheltered child. Her mother and father met when her father, Richard Jackson, was stationed in Japan. Her mother, Akemi Ito(or Ito Akemi) met him as she was shopping one day. She was a single woman, and was taking care of her sickly mother at the time. When her parents met, Akemi's mother didn't want her marrying a white man, so the two didn't stay together long. A year later, Richard requested to be stationed in Japan once again so maybe he could see Akemi. Of course he knew almost no Japanese, and she spoke no English, so when he asked her on their first date, he had to bring along a friend who was a translator. Somehow, the two clicked instantly, and Akemi agreed to yet another date. The two had only gone on three dates before Richard asked her to marry him. The two ventured back to America together, despite Akemi's parents wishes, and a year later Alisa was born.

Alisa was always questioned about her nationality, and if she was born in America, why she had a slight Japanese accent. Growing up, her mother always spoke to her in Japanese. Her father would only speak to her in English. This forced her to learn both languages, and until she was ten they continued this. Richard knew how to speak some Japanese by then, and her mother was fluent in English by that point. At school, many harsh things were said to the girl. She had no ability once so ever to stick up for herself, and hated being rude. Akemi had always taught her to be polite, and keep her chin held high. Alisa tried for the first twelve years of her life, but when she hit thirteen things quickly went downhill.

Kids began getting first kisses, boyfriends and girlfriends, and she was this awkward girl who could hardly say hello to one of her own friends. She knew she was destined to be forever alone at that point, and found comfort in books and writing. It wasn't until high school did she find her voice. She joined drama, and met a few friends. These were the first real friends she had since elementary school. The bullying died down a bit when she started becoming a bit more social, but it didn't stop some of the racial slurs and comments that were sent her way. Alisa just learned to ignore them a little better.

Small smiles, simple gestures, and quiet hellos are typical for Alisa. She has always found it hard to converse or interact with others, even some of her close friends. There is this constant fear of rejection always on her mind, and she can't ever push it away. Because there has always been something "wrong" with her in the eyes of others, she can never really see past it. Alisa is always noticing small imperfections about herself, and is constantly lost in a state of self doubt. This has caused her to lose interest in things, and have no hope in her own future. She has backed out of auditions in fear of not being good enough.

This is all kept inside. She doesn't want to worry anyone with her constant self doubt, and the nagging hate in her mind. With a smile on her face, she could lie easily to the closest of people, and keep all of it inside. Only in her own writing and drawings has she ever shown what truly lingers in the back of her mind. Despite her own loathing, she does have those blissful moments of happiness that we all do. She finds joy in good jokes, books, and old 80's movies. Alisa adores her friends, and even though she may doubt herself, being around them helps her so much more than one person would think. They give her a spark she didn't know she had.

The youngest of four, Izzy grew up in a crowded household with a single mother. Her father passed away when she was very young, and she has no memories of him beyond the stories her siblings have told her. She grew up Catholic and speaking mostly Spanish in the house, but as she aged she began to doubt her religion and now identifies as irreligious. She still respects it, of course, it just doesn’t touch her in the way it does her mother. Izzy is a first-generation Mexican immigrant, and her mother is still not quite fluent in English. When she was younger, Izzy got teased often for not being able to speak English as well as the other kids, and although she still has a lot of insecurity in her speech, she’s overcompensated for it by working to achieve perfect grades despite her early disadvantage. Izzy’s most profound talents are her abilities to learn and understand things quickly. This not only includes subject matter in school or things she reads, but she’s also very good at evaluating a situation or learning how people behave. During her high school career she also learned how to play the flute and clarinet fairly well while in the school band. She also has a natural talent for finding good angles to take photographs. She worked very hard throughout high school, studying excessively and often cancelling plans with friends, but her success paid off. Although Izzy wasn’t accepted to her first-choice university (an elite, private, out-of-state school), she will be attending a more local college on a full-ride scholarship for academic excellence. Izzy was honestly very surprised that she was even invited on the road trip, as she’d lost touch with a lot of her good friends during her senior year (she was much more focused on preparing for college and exams), but she is nonetheless excited to escape her town and go on an adventure comparable to that of the books she reads, and reconnect with the people she used to spend all of her time with.

They talked together a lot and had a few drinks, and it worries Izzy a bit because she can't remember exactly what she told him or how far they went (she's thinking they might have kissed, but she's not quite sure). She's trying to build up the courage to ask him about it.
Curious by nature, Izzy is cheeky and clever. An avid reader with a thirst for knowledge, she is quite an imaginative and intelligent soul. As a person with deep levels of understanding and acceptance, Izzy is a wonderful person to look to for support and advice. However in her own life, she can be rather indecisive and unsure of herself at times.Although modest and often underestimated, Izzy will always attempt to help the group in whatever way she can. If she can manage to overcome her barrier of slight shyness when overwhelmed, Izzy finds connecting with other people and forming close bonds to be an easy task. He never opened up to anyone except his best friend (can be someone in the rp if anyone's interested). He told them everything including his sexuality and his "boyfriend situation"

When Marcus started his sophomore year, he was on student council with a couple of friends. Long story short, he started falling for the rude, antisocial, short tempered vice president of the sophomore class. The two never had a conversation, considering Morgan, the vice president, was always reading and Marcus was a bit intimidated by him. They were always in the same classes but never spoke. Avalon grew up with two happy parents in a middle class family. When she was 5, her mother gave birth to two twin brothers, to the family's delight. However, when she was 13, one of her 8-year old little brothers was diagnosed with leukemia and died six months later. As a result, Laila got a tattoo of falling leaves on her back because she and her brother used to go to the park together to watch the leaves fall once autumn hit. After her younger brother's death, the entire family became extremely protective over the twin brother and feared that he too would be diagnosed with leukemia.

Because this tragic death occurred at the beginning of her adolescence, it took her a long time to recover from the emotional toll, causing her to consider suicide many times. She finally attempted suicide once by overdosing on pills, but was quickly taken to the hospital. Afterwards, she began to resort to hardcore drugs to deal with her pain, including acid, coke, LSD, shrooms, and ecstasy. She even began dating a drug dealer who was 7 years older than her in order to gain access to those drugs. However, when she decided to get clean and break up with him, he sexually assaulted her and tried to rape her. Luckily, her ex-boyfriend's older brother came in at the right time and saved her. Through the support of her family and friends, the incident has made her realize how precious and short her life really is. She is now emotionally stronger and content with her life.

Clarissa was born into a wealthy lifestyle, though not by regular means. Her mother was a gold digger, but not just any gold digger. Miss Annabelle went after the sugar daddy's daddy. Her inability to have children made her quite popular, allowing her to make her way into the richest geezer's beds and then worm her way into their wills, inheriting all they owned after their deaths.

But one day, Mrs. Annabelle Lewis (at the moment) had missed her third period, so she took a pregnancy test. Now most women who were told they were unable to have children would rejoice at the slightest hint of a blue line in that little oval window, but that was not the case with Miss Annabelle. Annabelle only wanted three things in life: sex, money, and luxury. A baby was nowhere in that equation. If anything, it got in the way of all those things. So Annabelle did the only thing she thought she could do. She attempted to get an abortion. Luckily, Mr. Lewis found out and stopped her, saying that if she went through with the abortion, he would divorce her.

Nine months later, Clarissa Ivory Lewis was born. Annabelle handed the baby over to a housekeeper immediately upon coming home from the hospital and returned to her luxurious life with her husband. She was raised by the housekeeper and Mr. Lewis (when Annabelle was not around), never wanting for anything. Well, anything except what any unwanted child wants; a mother's love. Clarissa grew up hurt and confused as to why her mother turned her back on her only child, and still carries that hurt with her today, though it is masked by despise and anger towards her mother.

Elliott's account on many parts of his life have been questioned since his sister died. Before that, he was in a somewhat loving family. Born to a well known doctor and a professional artist, Selene grew up in the most interesting family dynamics. Her mother was a free spirit, never fully settling for one thing, while her father was realistic to the point of coldness. Growing up, she preferred her mother's company, loving to watch the brush stroke the canvas over and over until it created something entirely new instead. That and her older brother, Seth, were her greatest joys in her youth. Being seven years older than Selene, Seth was her guardian. He played dolls with her when her father was at work and had pretend tea parties when her mother was wrapped up in her art. He was her best friend, her idol, her big brother.

When she was eleven years old, a family moved in next door to their home. It was a lawyer, his wife, and their son. They seemed nice enough and were often invited over for dinner at the Stryker household and vice versa. The son was around Seth's age and they often hung out around the town. A few months after their arrival, Selene was out playing in her backyard while her parents were out. He said that they were going to play a game. She was too young to understand what was going on and it wasn't until he started touching her did Selene being to scream. It wasn't until Seth came back from his summer classes did he find her, alone and forever damaged. The boy's father, however, was able to free his son of all the charges, claiming that Selene envisioned it all.

From that day on, Seth became an even larger force in Selene's life. He was the only one she would talk to for two months and the only one who could calm her down from her nightmares. He would remain her rock several years later until an accident stole him from her life. The cops said that the other driver was drunk and that it was very late out. You see, Seth had been driving home to visit his family on his motorcycle. It was very late out, but he wanted to surprise Selene for her sixteenth birthday. However, it wasn't him at their door. It was only a grave-looking officer bearing the worst news.

The Stryker family was never the same after the accident. While her father threw himself into his work, her mother turned to drugs and alcohol. Selene was left on her own, grieving for Seth and blaming herself for his early demise. She switched schools soon afterwards, hoping that no one there would know. Of course, her secret came out at the end of her junior year of high school. However, Selene didn't particularly want to change for her senior year. Turns out that she was pleasantly surprised that she was not met with disgust but with compassion and sympathy. Now she plans to go on a road trip with her best friends from school. This is their last time to be together and Selene wouldn't give it up for the world.

Up until the age of three, Colton had a pretty normal childhood. His dad had played two years in the NFL, until he had to retire due to a devastating knee injury. He then reconnected and fell in with his high school sweetheart, who was working as a nurse. Things were good for Colton. Everyone accepted the fact that he was a very promising athlete from an early age due. Having his fathers blood run through his veins and displaying the amount of energy and passion for sports that he did, it was no question that Colton would grow to be a very successful athlete.

Things took a turn when his mom gave birth to Colton's brother, Henry. The young boy was diagnosed with Leukemia at an early age, which proved to be a huge challenge for the Foster family. Their mom quit her job in order to be around more, and suddenly Colton's world was turned upside down. His parents no longer laughed or smiled, instead choosing to spend their time huddled over medical bills whispering harshly to one another. Suddenly, Colton was no longer the incredible child athlete to his parents. He felt as if they forgot about him some days because hey we're so engrossed in Henry's life. As a young child, this hurt Colton emotionally. In fact, for most of his elementary years, Colton hated Henry for taking up all the time of his parents. He never told anyone about his brother. In his middle school years, Colton began spending more and more time away from home. His schedule consisted of school, vigorous sports practices, and then some secretive trips to the library. A curious fervor had enveloped Colton during his high school years and he secretly began learning as much about Leukemia as possible. While his parents tried to keep Colton as far away from Henry's problems as they could, his natural curiousity got the best of him. Over time he realized just how serious the disease really was, and during his sophomore year of high school was when Colton finally turned his life around. He made time to hang out with Henry, and over he course of the next threes the two formed a tight bond.

During Colton's senior year, he received an offer to go play the quarterback position at Oregon University, of the most prestigious football schools in the country. It had been Colton's dream to play there since he was a child, but things were different now. Colton painfully declined the offer and instead picked up some classes at the local community college, just five minutes away from his home where he would continue to live. He also picked up multiple part-time jobs in order to help chip in for the incredibly expensive treatments that Henry had to undergo.

Now that senior year is over and Henry's treatment is making incredibly good progress, Colton has decided that it's time to get away for a while with some of his best friends.

Dave comes from a relative poor background and had to work quite early to have the money to buy the things he liked. Around the age of 13 his parents divorced after years of drunken arguments and he and his mother moved in with his grandfather. His grandfather was an abusive psychopath who loved creeping the hell out of Dave. Luckily after a year Dave and his mother got their own small appartment. Dave spent most of his time working and hanging out with (girl)friends to avoid his own home as much as possible. Over the years he also started boxing in a gym just for the fun of it but later grew a taste for it as he turned out to be talented. The last four years went generally alright for Dave as he got fitter, got more friends and had more satisfying longer relationships. Sometimes he had to spend extra time in school to catch up on some subjects (or to just avoid being home again). He doesn't have the money to go college after the big road trip so he's not too thrilled about it ending too soon. Biography: Avery was born in Canada, and was raised by her biological parents up until she was twelve years old, which was about the time that the accident happened. It wasn't every day a young child would have a police officer knocking on her door, telling her about how her parents were found in a car that, in an attempt to avoid another vehicle, had rolled of off the highway and fell deep into the woods, hitting a lot of trees. There was no sign of the other vehicle, however, and it seemed they fled right after the accident.

Her parents meanwhile, were in apparent severe health and were rushed to the emergency room straight away. After a few visits to the hospital, Avery soon realized that her parents only had a few days to live, and spent the rest of those days with them, until the moment came and suddenly they were gone. The loss of her parents led to a series of events that a twelve year old could not imagine and had never thought she would experience. Papers were signed, wills were read, funerals were planned and Avery was taken into custody by her aunt and uncle, having to move to a different country completely.

Personality: Avery can be a little wild at times, considering she is always up for an adventure and trying something new - risky or not. It does not matter whether it is a new fashion trend, new food, or simply trying a new dance move, as she is willing to give it a try. She is a carefree girl and always finds the bright side of things no matter what. Her rule is to 'live life to its fullest' which is mainly why she is so laid-back about almost anything - not letting anything get in the way. She is very friendly and has a great sense of humour once she starts trusting people, she can be mischievous at times and loves to play pranks on some people for a laugh.

Generally thoughtful and considerate, Avery is a good listener and has a tendency to comfort people. Although she may be reserved in expressing emotion, she has a very deep well of caring and is genuinely interested in understanding people. Of course he's scared shitless by death. But if it happens, it's not like there's anything he can do about it.
Maxwell grew up without any foundations. Abandoned when he was seven by parents he couldn't (or perhaps didn't want to) remember, the boy lived in a group home for most of his days, occasionally being bounced in and out of foster homes. Almost always he was sent back to the group home, despite his best efforts to be good to his foster parents. He'd never really talked much, but at some point his few words every now and then turned into none at all. Like many boys in his state, he was bullied often. Maxwell was more tormented by his unwanted status, however. In middle school he began suffering from panic and anxiety attacks, driving away the little friends he did have. Max spent his freshman year of high school in a daze of worry. Luckily, things began to look up for the young teen not long after that. Nick Ranges took Max in as a foster child, moving him to a new town and a new life with Nick's biological son in tow. The three worked out certain arrangements with Max's social worker, who set up a therapist for him. Diagnosed with severe anxiety disorder, the sessions helped Maxwell slowly get better. He made new friends to go along with his new family, and learned normality. He sought comfort in the bland and always stuck to his routines. By the time he reached his senior year, he could manage to spit out a few words here and there again, and even jokes when he was particularly brave. When his friends (or who he both hoped and worried were his friends) suggested a road trip, Maxwell's first instinct was to refuse. But next fall they'd all be off to college and he would be cast into all different circumstances anyways, so the boy decided to throw caution to the wind for once. Now here he is, freaking out in a crowded van hurdling across unfamiliar territory.

*He practices conversations by himself, preferably in a mirror. He tries to prepare himself for all possible situations, though oftentimes it doesn't help much.

Since Maxwell suffers from severe anxiety disorder, it's extremely difficult for him to communicate with others, despite his many frustrations. He wants to change, to be normal, and knows that his fears are irrational at best, but he simply hasn't been able to. For a long time, before he was fostered by Nick or befriended by those around him, he'd accept the way he was. He was always nervous, though he would follow the same routine every day with very little variation. He couldn't speak to anyone, not even the therapist his social worker had set him up with. School sucked because he was too busy worrying about what he would do if his teacher called him out for someone to even pay half of his attention to the lesson.
Maxwell usually can be found wearing sneakers and jeans, which he tries to keep colorful in an attempt to appeal to others. He doesn't like to have his arms bear, but he also loves to collect cool t-shirts, so he often wears a black long-sleeved shirt underneath a t-shirt of some sort. His hair is always a floppy mess. He cares about his appearance a lot, if only to make up for his personality. It is something to help him start a conversation, as suggested by his therapist.
His foster dad, Nick, and Nick's biological son, Jamie, are the closest thing to family that's Max has. He has come to love them dearly, but worries for the future of their trio often.
