Roles
PiratesSirens
On Sirens...
These sirens aren’t going to be your standard, traditional ones. I had been inspired by an image I found that they can’t reproduce naturally, but rather are a creation of the goddess of the sea. More of, woman (meaning they have to be female) who had been tossed off of ships or tried to be drowned would become one if their death was unavoidable and undeserved. They have somewhat sharpened teeth, slight claws, eyes that reflect the colors of their scales which are normally rather dark hues, a hypnotic singing voice, and can lose their tail for 12 hours being a transformation is forced due to dehydration.

And before you give me the “but my crew member’s gonna be female, why didn the-” Stop. I said if their death was unavoidable, but they survived. Yet if you still want to play one, there are a few hiding among them (how they kept it from the crew, it's called being creative) and it would be a possibility to be turned within the IC.

Sirens are seen as a myth, although it is well known that if someone were to see one, their death was sure to follow.

Life was good, but not to last as when she was 17, he had been arrested by the Navy for the crimes committed against His Majesty. Outraged at how she wasn't able to do anything for him, she had begun finding work. Wanting to live out his legacy as he would wish he had. It took awhile, but she soon managed to scrape together the ungodly amount of coin necessary for a ship of her own. It being quite a beautiful vessel. Years past she a crew to come with it, the woman soon making a name for herself. But not always with the right people...

Aside from other pirates and the Navy being out for her head, a month or so ago she had convinced her crew to raid a temple to the Sea Goddess. It was located on an island seemingly in the middle of nowhere. And because she didn't fully believe that there was truly a deity behind all of it, Atmora managed to plunder most of its riches leaving the once marvelous structure in a heap of ruins. But now... the woman grows nervous with each passing day. The sea has become rougher, storms threatening to tear her sails or send boulders through the vessel's flanks. She tells herself not to worry over such things but she can't help but wonder if there was really someone behind the unpleasant experiences of the last few days.

Narissa
Basic Info

Name: Narissa
Age: 56
Gender: Female
Race: Siren
Sexuality: Asexual
Occupation: Noble

Appearance

Height: 5'6
Weight: 143 lbs
Length: 6'4
Hair: Her hair is thick and wavy. It's Amber in color and reaches her rear.
Eyes: A shade darker than her hair
Build: Voluptuous
Complexion: Pale
Tail Description: Its the same color as her hair. Her tail sort of resembles a betta fish's. At end it is flowy and she has the same type of appendage on the side of her tail.

Personal

Personality: Before she was turned Narissa was a vivacious young woman. She loved life and was known for her free-spirit. She was s clever thing for her age but despite that she was still naive. Charming was one word that described her. She had the ability to draw people in and turn heads. After she was transformed Narissa didn't seem to change all that much. She continued to be lively and spirited. With dealing with other mermaids she treats them like sisters. When it concerns humans it's a different story. She is bitter towards humans, pirates in particular. She has caused many ship wrecks. Narissa enjoys toying with humans and stealing their treasure.
Thoughts: Narissa dislikes humans and so she isn't to happy about them washing up on their turf. She believes that they'll cause nothing but trouble
History: Narissa was once a woman of noble lineage. Her parents were very wealthy and so they lived comfortably. She had two other siblings, a brother and a sister who were both younger than her. Life was good for her. She would attend balls and socialize with friends. As she grew older Narissa realized that the noble life wasn't that great. As a girl she was expected to do certain things and act in a certain way. Being the free-spirit that she was Narissa rejected these ideas. She didn't want to be married off or act like a proper young woman.

At times she would sneak out of her home and dress as normal person. She made friends along the way and together they had fun, roaming the streets and causing some innocent mischief. Her life changed when a group of pirates came to town. Narissa had foolish believed that if she avoided them then there would be no trouble. It worked for a bit until the pirates caught sight of her. They noticed the necklace that she wore, a expensive gift from her mother, and concluded that she wasn't as poor as she looked. Narissa was taken for ransom. Her life on the ship was hell to say the least. Months passed and Narissa had all but given up hope.

One day a storm seemed to come out of nowhere. The ship took a lot of damage and eventually it sank. Narissa had been locked in a cell when it happened. She knew in her heart that she wouldn't make it to see another day. Imagine her surprise when she woke up completely fine and with a tail to boot!

Akea Kean
Love is a complicated thing, so hard to understand, so difficult to deal with and yet it is without doubt one of the most beautiful and marvellous things this world has given us

Basic InformationName: Akae Kean
Age: 22
Gender: Female
Race: Siren
Sexuality: Bisexual
Occupation: Pirate
Appearance125b910959cf76df17cb37dc651cf286--anime-character-design-female-character-design-fantasy-female.jpg
Height: 5'7" and a half.
Weight: 57kg
Length: 6'7"
Hair: A darkish shade of crimson red, mostly natural.
Eyes: A reddish brown in shade, occasionally flickering to a lighter tone when catching rays of light.
Build: A muscular yet rather slim build, most focusing on the upper body, quite refined and elegant looking with a certain sense of captivating beauty, and yet her ruthless and tough underside show through clearly.
Complexion: A sun tanned orangey brown tint covers her otherwise rather light tone.
Tail Description; A light crimson red with white blotches/patterns upon certain areas, occasionally the scales will shimmer and reflect a more orange or yellowish colour.
PersonalPersonality: A smug and high up demeanour surrounds the ruthless pirate, she's tough and teases most in her path, some claim it's a a self defence after what occurred in her past, others just think she's straight up vicious, she never seems to be able to take something entirely seriously until it comes down to a fight, in which case he girls joking and laid back nature switches to one of a bloody focused swordsman who's just about the last person you want to cross paths with at a deadens street. Her mannerisms and behaviour give off a sense of power and mischievous history, like a child who stole for a living or lived out on the streets for far to long without the warmth of a home to allow her rest and peace, always alert, always on guard and never one to leave without a sword or two at hand, she ain't all that mysterious but certainly someone to capture your curiosity with a rather strong resistance at bringing up their past.
Thoughts: Eh- Complicated.
History: Part 1: Childhood- Akae wasn't always a ruthless and bloodthirsty pirate, there was a time where she was a child just like any other, living at the edges of a seaside towns port with a loving family and happy home. Maybe it was because of this that things turned out the way they did, a freak storm in the middle of a late summer evening, winds that howled through the lands and swept up all within their path that wasn't tied down, things would've been okay too, if she hadn't insisted on going out that day, she almost didn't too, but the stubborn twelve year old wouldn't listen to what had to be said of warnings or the grey mass of a thunderstorm on the horizon, lovestruck, full of innocence and craving an adventure she playfully ran down to the docks to explore the new traders coming in from the outer islands, bringing unusual and foreign items never seen before, along with one particular crew member that you could say the young girl had quite a fancy for at the time. It was today she'd planned to do it, to finally tell the person she'd admired for so long how she felt, the child of a ships captain and the first mate despite such a young age, only a couple years older than herself at that, a sparkling golden compass she'd ah- 'bought' from a market stall grasped tightly in her hand along with a letter as a gift.

All went well with the handing over of things, the two exchanged a laugh and a smile and talked for the rest of the evening at the beach's shore, the orange's and yellows of the sky above captivating their view as they spoke, Akae sharing stories of her adventures upon the land and the other of the tales of the seas…. It was a beautiful memory, and it would've remained that way if it weren't for the captains child inviting her upon a small boat to show off a nearby island, so caught up in the moment of it all that they didn't even realised the danger they are sailing right into, blinded by their feelings of all sense and logic, so much so that they were far out at sea by the time the waves were growing higher than houses and lightning strikes flashed above causing the two young children to loose all sense of direction, they yelled and screamed for the life of them, small voices drowned out by the crashing of the sky and too far away to be heard even so, they clung onto that boat for dear life as each wave hit down upon them like a hammer trying to smash the boat apart, tears filling the young girls innocent eyes.

A hand slipped on the wet surface of the wood.

A desperate attempt to grab one another fingers causing both to be freed from their only safety.

The engulfment of the small vessel once again as another wave slammed down.

The silence of the air as neither rose to the surface above.

An attempt last hope at the girl swimming down into the depths to grab onto the unconscious other, seeming to fall deeper and deeper under the oceans watery suffocation.

Lungs pleading and begging for you to go back up and breath the air above.

Eyes slowly closing as they fall further from your reach.

At last your fingers touch the fabric of their clothing.

Their eyes slowly open and stare into your own with such apology and desire.

The voiceless opening and closing of a mouth as though trying to speak with a smile they give.

Before everything around you is surrounded in darkness.

A new beginning, a new start at everything, but at what cost?

Will the true love ever be found again?…..

Part 2: A vessel and a journey awaits- But four months after such an event the young female received an offer of hope as a last resort, she took it within a heart beat and did all she could to keep the truth hidden away, deep down inside where even she wouldn't have to think about it too much, trained thoroughly in her already developed and surprisingly instinctive instincts with a sword and weaponry she soon found a better job with a better payout than what she was currently receiving, a smirk lining the lips of her trouble making face. She'll do anything you ask they say, as long as ya' don't disturb her after sunset, she lurks into the shadows of the far depths of the ship or weapons cupboard and won't reappear until morning, threatens that if ya do come looking you won't be finding anything more than an explosion going off in your face of gunpowder and fire, and lets just say most believe those words quite strongly by this point, many a rumour of a guy who lost two arms and a leg from one of her attacks, honestly untrue, but no need for them to be knowing that.

Kai
Fearsome Blue Siren

Basic InformationName: Kaileen Evergreen (call her Kai, please)
Age: 22 (que the Taylor Swift)
Gender: Female
Race: Siren
Sexuality: Bisexual
Occupation: Was a servant
AppearanceHeight: 5' 2"
Weight: 110 lb
Length: 6' 2"
Hair: A noticeably blueish shade of black hair. It's straight and reaches down to the middle of her back.
Eyes: Blue
Build: Curvy yet muscular
Complexion: Pale
Tail Description: Like everything else, it's an extremely dark shade of blue. It has a particularly large fluke, and it's pretty long compared to her torso.
PersonalPersonality: Kai is generally a misanthrope, though really she just holds a grudge against pirates (and an even deeper grudge against male pirates). While at first she'll try to make herself seem fearsome and powerful and great, you'll soon realize that she's kinda dense and naive, and that her threats are relatively empty. At the start she'll be aloof, but Kai will warm up to you with some time. She's a good, trustworthy, and loyal friend (even if she occasionally acts like she'll murder you)
Thoughts: "Ugh..." Aka, she doesn't like the newcomers.
History: Kai was once the spoiled only daughter of a rich family. She was innocent and naive. It made considering how her family was well known and valuable to criminals. The beautiful daughter of the family had to be protected from these people, even as an adult. Kai spent her days dreaming of adventure and fun. She'd always admired those people who came from the sea. In her mind, they were explorers and adventurers, who did daring things and came back victorious. Kai wanted that freedom.

So Kai ran away. The pirates were willing to let her on their boat, and so, in the dark of night, Kai boarded a ship. The first few moments were marvelous. Kai had never felt this much freedom and excitement! But things took a horrible turn. Suddenly, everyone on the boat kicked her around (literally and metaphorically), made her do this and that, stripped her of her money and goods. Kai had been tricked. Deceived. Now she was a servant. The next few months were terrible. But as Kai was washing the deck and whatnot, she looked over the edge of the ship and into the ocean. Kai had never really thought of suicide... but now was a great opportunity to end it all.

And so, before the men could notice, Kai jumped.

Kai expected herself to die, but when she woke up WITH A TAIL, she was first of all surprised. She thought she was in heaven and that heaven was... weird. But sooner or later she noticed ships, namely pirate ships, and realized she wasn't dead. She was alive. As a mermaid. Siren. Whatever. Kai wasn't upset. She was delighted. While she did look kinda creepy with sharp nails, her tail was totally rad and her hair was now black!

Kai lived the rest of her life (not really a long time) as a siren, kinda just enjoying life and doing whatever sirens do.

Dante Faust
Pirate Surgeon

Basic InformationName: Dante Alexander Faust
Age: 25
Gender: Male
Race: Human
Sexuality: Heterosexual
Occupation: Doctor
AppearanceHeight: 5'11"
Weight: 150 lbs.
Hair: Dark, muddy brown.
Eyes: Brown
Build: Tall and slim
Complexion: Ivory
PersonalPersonality: Dante, or Faust as he likes to be called, is usually nonchalant in nature. He rarely gets anxious or stressed, preferring to take things as they come rather than worry. In fact, the only time he's truly serious is when dealing with patients. He's very skilled in that regard and takes great pride in his work as a healer and surgeon.

Faust also loves to read. Oft he can be found sitting in his study with a book, completely oblivious to his surroundings. He is fairly intelligent, as is required of a doctor, though most of his knowledge is far from applicable to life at sea, as the sciences and histories of modern society have little business in the life of a pirate.
Thoughts: "Sirens? I can't say I believe in such idle fantasies."
History:
Faust was born to a stern, harsh father, a beast of a man who attained the rank of Navy Admiral after a mere twenty years of service, and a fair-minded mother from the countryside. To an outsider, they seemed the perfect rich, aristocratic family, though their son knew different.

Faust's earliest memories were of his parent's fights. Deep into the night, when they thought him asleep, his mother and father would quarrel. Their arguments were akin to a flame; small and quiet when first kindled, but quick to grow in aggression and turmoil. They all ended the same, however; with a strike from his father and a sob from his mother.

In the morning, they would both smile and laugh like nothing was wrong, his mother wearing a long dress to cover the bruises. It was so very like them, worrying about appearances more than the internal state of things.

Faust soon realized that, to his old man, his mother was nothing more than a trophy, another badge on the pristine naval uniform he so proudly wore, and to his mother, his father was just a means of entering higher society. Needless to say, the realization did little to stay the poor lad's worries, to quiet the vehement voices as they fell on his ears.

The young child found solace in books, however. Stories of fairies and dragons could sometimes dull the heartache he felt, and more than compensated for his lack of companions. The reprieve gained from literature helped him forget that, come book's end, he would once again be Dante Faust, the lonely son of two feuding parents.

The years passed, with stories, arguments, and memories blending together, and Faust soon found himself grown into a young man. With his age came mounting pressure from his father to follow tradition and join the navy, like many before him. Though for Faust, it was a passionless pursuit, a path he was sure would lead him to end up just like his father; a man with a loveless marriage and only a stiff suit to show for it. So, instead of the navy, Faust found himself drawn to the life of a doctor, the polar opposite of a soldier. He took up schooling (much to his father's chagrin) and after several years managed to become a fledgling physician.

Never would anyone have imagined, however, that a promising doctor such as Faust would become a pirate surgeon. The man in question would have never thought so either, but as he watched his soon-to-be captain and crew work, he began to respect them a great deal. Eventually, he was offered a job, and while common sense dictated one didn't join a pirate band, Faust found he really didn't care.

Alaster Lauchlan
Quartermaster

Basic InformationName: Alaster Lauchlan
Age: 47
Gender: Male
Race: Caucasian Human
Sexuality: Heterosexual
Occupation: Quatermaster of the ship, the second most powerful person on board, although the power of his station has been greatly diminished by Atmora.
Appearance
Capture+_2017-09-26-01-26-09.png
Height: 6'6"
Weight: 226 Pounds
Hair: Shoulder-length black hair, turning Salt and Pepper
Eyes: Black, aka excessively dark brown
Build: Midway between Endomorph and Mesomorph, leaning more towards Mesomorph
Complexion: Scarred and pox marked, it's obvious that he's easily survived everything the world has thrown at him.
PersonalPersonality: A rough and rather mean-spirited man, he has only become so due to age and the fact that the captain has taken much of the power away from his station, not that he would ever complain of it aloud. Often, he often bottles up his anger, causing it to grow and grow, until he explodes, usually enacting a fit of violent rage, such as beating a cabin boy half to death or ripping a man's throat out. Despite his rather violent nature, the men of the ship tend to still like him, mainly due to the fact that he is usually fair and just, hence why he hasn't been voted out of his position. For while his actions may seem rather cruel, a bit of fear is what tends to keep a crew in line.
Thoughts: "Shut the fuck up with yer old wives tales and get back to swabbin' the fucking deck, you base-born son of a whore bitch!"
History: All Alaster ever wanted was to sail. To go from port to port on that great big blue ocean, just like his pa before him, and his pa before him, and even his pa before him. It was a family tradition, it seemed, for the fathers of his family to abandon their wives and children for the wiles of the ocean. But Alaster never saw it that way. Adventure, discovery, freedom. He always kept those ideals in his heart. When the boy was ten or eleven, his mother died,
and he was taken in by a local church and it's priest, where he learned to read and write from the light that passed through the church's staind-glass windows, taught by the kindly old man who ran it. By the age sixteen, he had already joined the navy. First as a powdermonkey and swabbie, then a rigger, and finally his ships third mate working under the guidance of the ships sailing master, learning how to navigate by the stars and anything else he would need to become the ships next sailing master. But, that would not be.

Attacked by pirates, nearly everyone on the ship was killed, including the sailing master. When the last of the naval ships crew were rounded up and brought before the captain, they were told that in the battle, the pirates' own sailing master had been killed, and they needed a replacement. Seeing his one and only chance at survival, Alaster told the pirate captain, a man by the name of Gangrene George. George accepted the young navigator onto his crew, beforr killing the rest of the captives. None of them had been of high status or note, so there was no point in keeping them alive to ransom off, as they'd be risking to much for to little. From that pirate captain, Alastar learned how to REALLY run a ship. Not through respect, for there will always be at least one man who dissents, and for pirates doubly so. No, the best way to control a ship was through FEAR.

After many years, and having worked under many a captain, Alaster has gotten to the point where he's considering retirement, take all the riches he has saved up and go somewhere warm.
After all, he hates the cold now, as he get's closer to old age. His work under Atmora was only going to last until they made port agian, where he would simply walk off the ship and never come back.

But Fate had other plans for him. Now finding himself half drowned and stranded on some god-foresaken body of land, the only thing he can do is survive.

Muriel
The Cap'n might be the one hollering orders, but I makes sure action follows.

Basic Information
9a116f90a036430f73e26f046886abb9.jpg

Name: Muirghael O'Connors
Age: 32
Gender: Female
Race:Human
Sexuality: Bisexual
Occupation: First Mate
AppearanceHeight: 6"1
Weight: 167 lbs
Hair: Straight red hair
Eyes: A dark green-brown
Build: Broad shoulders and rather toned muscles
Complexion: Less pale than you'd expect from someone originating from Ireland
PersonalPersonality: Muriel is highly professional and rather stoic, usually preoccupied with making the crew actually do what their captain ordered, having to deal with both Atmora's rather...unique...personality and the rest of the crew's complaints. Despite this she never seems to be overwhelmed by the overwhelming amount of work that comes with her position, instead just trying to do everything in her power to assure everything goes smoothly.
In those precious moments where she isn't working Muriel does enjoy a good laugh, being somewhat of a mother figure to the younger crewmembers and always tries to break down the image of her being this stern slaver who's just Atmora's hench(wo)man. Instead she's rather protective of the rest of the crew and does not hesitate to speak up to the captain if she believes there's a reason to do so.
Thoughts: Superstitious and frightened of the possibility of them existing due to childhood trauma
History: Muriel grew up on the shores of Ireland, the eldest of four siblings and daughter to a humble fisherman and farmer. Her parents struggled with providing for all of them, making Muriel start working at a very young age in order to ensure their family could get by. Jobs ranging from beggar in the city when she was just a child to farmhand and captain of a small fishing vessel she would lose two of her siblings to disease and hunger, making her work even harder and get involved with the wrong people.

Her mother's death drove her father to gamble and drink their earnings away, leaving her with no other choice but to abandon their childhood home, with just the youngest brother alive who she'd leave with her aunt in order to find decent work that would support the two of them.
But her father's debts would soon catch up to her, bringing with them the wrong kind of people.
The kind that'd do anything to get their money back.

Money that Muriel did not have, forcing her to leave her place of birth behind and go into a profession that would never have her deal with the same people again.
A profession that would allow her to finally be free of the life that had bound her down, using her discipline and notoriety for being a very hardworking woman to make a name for herself and become associated with a certain captain of a pirate vessel.
And though she does not always see eye to eye with her captain and does question her orders occasionally Muriel wouldn't want it any other way.
Though them raiding the temple of the sea goddess left her with an awful feeling in her guts...

Height: When human, she measures to a height of 5'3.
Weight: 132 lbs

Eyes: A deep green with speckles of gold and blue.
Build: Voluptuous
Complexion: Olive-toned.
Tail Description; Her tail matches the colour of her eyes, with streaks of a dark, mustard yellow. Her tail ends in several places in various swirls almost like that of petals of a flower. It is thick scaled, and these scales appear to shimmer in a holographic fashion in the sunlight.
PersonalPersonality: Calista is a stubborn, short-tempered siren at the best of times. She tends to isolate herself from other sirens; it is not necessarily because she doesn't like them, but more to do with the fact that she only likes company on her own terms, that's what makes her feel more comfortable and more safe. Although, she does enjoy following and stalking the boats of humans in hopes of being caught. The rush of adrenaline whilst being chased by a ship was like an addiction, a high. After days on end of being lonely, the adrenaline made her able to cling onto whatever humanity she had left. Calista is sharp thinking and intelligent.

She is an animal enthusiast, and enjoys the company of other animals, and observing them and their behaviour. It keeps her interested and intrigued, as well as finding all aspects of nature beautiful anyway.
Thoughts: Calista has been a siren for so long that she had forgotten what it had meant to be human. Because of this, she has an envy towards humans, and is absolutely infatuated with every aspect of their existence.
History: As a child, Calista was raised with her mother and father away from the sea. In fact, she had no recollection of ever experiencing the seaside as a child up until the age of 18. Her parents kept a close eye on her in a somewhat strict household. She was kept on a tight leash throughout her life, not being allowed out too late (especially in their rough neighborhood) or be left alone outside of their home, or even left in the home alone, especially because they owned a B&B and had no idea of the capability of their residents. Some could've been serial killers for all they knew. The presence of her father did not suppress or help the residents to die down on their cat calls or crude comments about Calista as she served their tables.

Calista had never really seemed to be close with her mother or father. They kept to themselves, and she kept to herself. It was just the way in which her family seemed to work, and it worked well for the majority of the time. Although they had, in her younger years, been very protective, towards her older years they became a lot more lenient on rules. Taking advantage of this, Calista set out for a journey. A very exploratory, and intriguing journey. To a place where land met ocean- a place she was unfamiliar with: the beach. With a map and compass, she managed to find out where to go, and after a few long, exhausting hours, she had finally found herself at the beach. With little to no knowledge of the ocean and its dangers, she threw herself into the deep end. Literally. It was there that she battled wave upon wave, fighting against the tide for survival. And to her utter dismay, the ocean won and dragged her deep and strongly into the midst of the dark and inescapable soul of the sea. The sea took pity, it had seemed, and granted her a second chance.
