She is more likely to approach a yōkai, since she grew up in a house with them and was raised by one. Only on rare, maybe desperate occasions would anyone see her approaching someone else first. When she does open up, they'll find that she is a kindhearted and positive individual.

Heavily influenced by her mother, she gives her all to be friendly with yokais and spirits, juggling her education and role of heir. She is protective of her family and topped with her selfless nature, She would usually go out of her way to help anyone in need, usually ending up in some sort of trouble one way or another. But she is not one to give up easily even if odds are not in her favour. [/div]

[div class=title]Backstory[/div][div class=text] Abe Miyamoto, a priest of Amane Jingū during the Heian Period. It was a prosperous time for the shrine when he was the head. The shrine was always busy with visitors and flourished from gracious gifts and offerings people made. With the fame, hate and jealousy was inevitable. The shrine had multiple happenings of vandalism and terrorising its visitors and spreading false rumours. Fed up, Abe chose to rely on help; one humans will not be able to fight against so easily. Thus, Shiro Inu was summoned. He was more than what Abe could ever ask for. A fearsome, loyal protector, as well as a dear friend. Like all of his kind, Abe's time had come to an end, leaving the shrine's care to his heir and Nobuyuki. To this day, Amane Jingū still received some regular visitors, though not as many compared to its prime. The new generation lacked the belief and devotion to gods and deities, only relying on health, fortune or scholar kami when needed. Centuries after Abe's death, it seems the gods had decided to return his spirit to the earthly realm...

[div class=text]Abe Miyamoto[/div]

Kazumi has never met her father. Nobuyuki had told her before that he wasn't like her and her mother. He couldn't see yokais or any other supernatural beings, and he ran away when things got too rough. Sadly, it just so happen to be the day Kazumi was born. Her mother singlehandedly juggled her responsibilities as the heir of Amane Jingū, working several part-time jobs to raise her child and to put her through school. Education was what her mother didn't have the opportunity to do. Kazumi shared her mother's values and beliefs, she taught her that the yokai in the shrine were her family too, even if they weren't related by blood. She wanted to be her when she grew up, loving and independent. Her mother's health deteriorated over the years and passed away when Kazumi was only eight years old. Too young to experience death, she grew reserved and became dependent on the rest of her family, very rarely leaving the shrine or greeting the shrine's visitors.

It took a lot of comfort and coaxing from Nobuyuki to get Kazumi out to face the rest of the world again, and to start training her as the new heir. It took a good few years for her positive outlook to return to the girl. Due to very little interaction with humans (save the occasional elders and lost children Nobuyuki brings back), Kazumi is very quiet and shy around new people. Sadly, she also became a target of bullying during middle school. A group of kids had caught her talking with a rock on the edge of the forest, spreading rumours that the heir of Amane Jingū is not blessed, but cursed. In actual fact, she was giving directions to a harmless lost yokai that day. And she doesn't take what the humans say about her to heart. Since then, visitors to the shrine has been slowly declining and Kazumi needs to make effort to improve the reputation of it.[/div]

Kazumi remembers she called him "Papa" when she was younger, the habit broke when she hit her teen years, but would sometimes slip back out from to time especially if she's upset and wishes to be consoled.

Uneri Mamushi - Younger Brother
Kazumi gets flustered easily whenever Uneri jokes or teases her. No matter how many times he does so, she could never think of a good enough comeback to tease her little brother back.

Shiro Inu - Older Brother
Kazumi never understood the cold attitude from Shiro, and she doesn't know if she will ever break his walls to become friends with him. Whenever she tries to talk to him or gets too close to him, he brushes her off immediately. That doesn't mean she'll stop trying to become close to one of her family members.

  Nobuyuki spends far more time in his own head than anywhere else. He likes to think things out and work out situations, so playing the blame game won't work kiddos. It isn't uncommon to see him involved with puzzles, riddles, shogi, or any other focused work. Usually he's the type to blurt out his hunches with no real brain to mouth filter, especially when trying to find out what's upsetting his family. This tendency combined with his natural poker face has led to many funny situations.
  In terms of decision making, Nobu is constantly putting situations into family first. He strives to be the foundation of the house making sure that at all times there is peace and harmony. He stays frank with them and isn't afraid to let his opinion be know. Which tends to lead to him jumping into conflicts in an attempt to settle them as an unbiased third party.
  There are plenty that see Nobu as lazy since he doesn't like to rush through life. There really is no chance you'll be able to rush him through a choice or action. He likes to have his own time to plan and get his ideas in order before really making an action. All that said he isn't always making a plan and if you don't ask him you'll never know if this is another grand plan or an actual moment of laziness.
  Even so he takes pride in his status at the shrine and can often be found outside watching the people who visit. He usually stays in his hybrid form most of the time as he has no wish for humans to see him without his express desire for them to. He stays far back as to not frighten them though, but it isn't unusual for him to use it to his advantage such as when he corrals the lost children back to the shrine.

  +Aura Manipulation: Nobu only ever really uses the indigo, violet, and green of the Auras; Which allows him basic telepathy, dowsing, healing, Aura reading, and illusion detection
  +Control of the Winds: As a Karasu Tengu he's able to manipulate the winds, fly, cause storms through anger, and lift humans up into the air
  +Teleportation: Though it does have it's limits like most of his kind Nobuyuki is highly skilled in the art of teleportation. He's able to teleport 2,645 meters in an instant.​

  -Shapeshifting: Unlike many of his kind, Nobu is really bad at shapeshifting. He's not much of a trickster and takes awhile to switch forms
  -Limited True Form: As a messenger of Amaterasu Nobu's true form is linked to piety of the worshipers. At the current level he can maintain his true form 1 day and be forced to 'rest' in human form for 1 day after. As a result he usually sticks to his Mini or Hybrid forms.
  -Meditation: Due to his powers being very linked to his emotions he must spend hours each day meditating, which he usually does as Kazumi sleeps​

  Uneri's personality now differs vastly from when he first encountered the then head-priest of the Amane Jingu shrine. These days, Uneri is theatrical, lackadaisical, and flamboyant. His over-the-top antics, and his frequent threats to “devour” his fellow Yokai are often laughed off, or simply disregarded by the other members of the shrine. He can be brash, boastful, and viciously condescending, but his extravagant persona makes it difficult for anyone to take him even remotely seriously. After all, he's all bluster and no substance, right?
  
  Despite his demeanor, Uneri is, surprisingly, extremely loyal to the current head, and the shrine itself. Uneri is prideful, and possesses a vaunted sense of self-worth bordering on narcissism. On sunny days, when he's not drinking sake in the courtyard, he can often be found sunbathing on rooftops. True to his name, Uneri is an insatiable glutton, and could easily eat (and drink) the shrine into debt if given half the chance. In spite of his time spent at the shrine serving to purify him of most of his evil intent, Uneri is still capable of cruelty, and can appear downright sadistic at times, especially in the face of enemies. He often revels in toying with his prey, much to the chagrin of some of the more benevolent Yokai at the shrine.

  Backstory
  
  Long ago, the villagers of a small settlement, on the island that would come to be known as Kyushu, despaired. For a great serpent, as those lucky enough to escape its greedy maw had described, had taken up residence in the sole pass through the treacherous mountain ranges, which the villagers relied on as a vital trade route. Now, any who dared enter there was devoured by the gluttonous Yōkai. Merchants unlucky enough to have not yet heard the warnings would take the pass on their way to hawk their wares in the village, only to be swallowed whole by the Uwabami, along with their animals, their carts, everything. Eventually, the villagers' despair turned to desperation, searching for any way to bypass the great snake's lair on their way north. Many young men were sent out from the village to find their way through the impossible labyrinth of razor sharp rocks. Most returned, unsuccessful, or were never heard from again, claimed by the mountain, or lost to the Uwabami's insatiable hunger. All of them failed, until at last the village elder's only daughter, in a last ditch bid for salvation, stole into the mountains under the cover of darkness. The spirits, surely, had been watching over her that night, for she alone succeeded where so many others had failed.
  
  She traveled from village to village, settlement to settlement, searching for help, beseeching lord and lady for assistance. All who met her refused her. On her way back the way she'd come, defeated and forlorn, the young woman met a peculiar-looking man on the road who claimed to know of her troubles, and claimed he knew how to solve them. He called himself kannushi, a priest. Apprehensive, but at her wit's end, the daughter agreed to take him to the mountain pass, and the lair of the Uwabami. The priest had explained his plan to the woman along the way: he'd make a potion to put the great serpent to sleep, and conceal it in a bottle of sake. The Uwabami is a notoriously heavy drinker, you see. "But," the priest turned to her and said, "to do this I need something from you." The young woman, jumping at the possibility of saving her home from the monster that tormented it, steadfastly replied, "Anything."
  
  When the potion was prepared, the priest entered the mountain pass where the Uwabami was last spotted. Sensing its dinner had arrived, the great snake emerged from the ground and prepared to eat the man whole. "Wait!" The man shouted. "I come bearing a gift for you, oh great Uwabami," Said the priest while the young woman watched from a distance. "This sake is the greatest this land has to offer, and only you are worthy to drink it." Appeased, the massive serpent lowered its head to drink. After a few gulps, it was fast asleep, and the priest began a ritual to free all of the stolen villagers from the Yokai's enormous bely, and in so doing, purified the snake of its ill will. One by one, the villagers emerged from the gaping maw of the beast, who shrunk before their very eyes, 'til he was no more than a child, snoring gently in the priest's arms. The daughter could not help but notice that the boy bore a striking resemblance to her father.
  
  Suddenly filled with love for the creature which had done nothing but harm her, and likewise fearful of what the villagers might do if the vulnerable Yokai was left behind, the elder's daughter begged the kannushi to bring the boy home with him. After much convincing, the priest agreed. When he awoke, rather confused, in the courtyard of Amane Jingu, the kannushi told him the story of how he'd come to that place, and told him of the bravery of Mamushi, the woman who'd saved his life, and the lives of all the villagers. Enthralled by the story - the kannushi was, of course, a skilled and renowned orator - the boy demanded another, and before long was lulled back to sleep with fantastical tales swimming in his head.
  
  And so, as the tale goes, the Uwabami, adopting the name Mamushi, remained there at the Amane Jingu shrine, even unto this very day.

  Powers & Talents
  
  1. Serpent Physiology: Uneri's body possesses several snake-like qualities, including enhanced strength, speed and durability, as well as a greatly enhanced sense of smell. Likewise, Uneri's body is capable of stretching elastically far beyond its feasible limits.
  
  2. Snake Manipulation: As befitting his title, Uneri is capable of controlling all types of serpents, and may even produce snakes from out of his own body.
  
  3. Gut Imprisonment: By swallowing something whole (whether it be person, animal or object), Uneri is capable of transporting them to an other-worldly place within his 'stomach', which can serve as a prison, or merely a storage place.
  
  4. Earth Manipulation: Utilizing his natural connection to the earth, Uneri can burrow and travel underground, or cause natural disasters such as earth quakes or mud slides.
  
  5. Poison Generation: Uneri can secrete a toxin from his body which causes those who ingest it to fall asleep.
  
  6. Body Shedding: Uneri can shed his body at will.
  
  Weaknesses
  
  1. Cold: Like all snakes, Uneri is susceptible to extreme cold, which makes him drowsy and lethargic.
  
  2. Flattery: Uneri is easily flattered, and often cannot tell the difference between genuine and false praise.
  
  3. Foolish: Much like how the kannushi tricked him into drinking spiked sake, Uneri can be outwitted by clever opponents.
  
  4. Hunger: If Uneri goes for long periods of time without eating, he may become sluggish and experience many of the same effects as extreme cold.
  
  5. Landlocked: Uneri cannot fly, and thus is vulnerable to aerial assault. Likewise, those with wind powers can blow away his poisons, leaving him defenseless.
  
  6. Childish: While he is, at least, several centuries old, Uneri behaves as those he were still a child. Because of this, he is often uncooperative with his allies, and easily goaded into acting foolishly by his enemies.

  Shirou in all aspects of the word is motivated by instinct, pure and simple instinct. He does not care much for the rules of mankind nor does he show any real interest in following the pre-established etiquette of society, believing them to be nothing more then hindrances that infringe upon ones own freedom. Considering that Shirou is a Shikigami, he values what little freedom he has to such a high degree that he will often show animosity towards anyone who attempts to take it away from him; with the exception of his master of course. That being said, with the death of the one who has summoned him; Shirou at present answers to only one being; the one tasked with overseeing the future of the Amane Jingū. This is to say that blood relatives to his summoner are not privy to his loyalty; not unless Shirou himself acknowledges them as such.
  
  As a Shikigami, Shirou is fiercly loyal towards the one that he calls a master though whether or not this is truly how he feels is hard to say. Due to his status as a Shikigami, it is quite often the case that his thoughts, actions and words are stifled in favor of what his 'master' desires thus this unseen force influences him in ways that he himself is sometimes not aware of. What can be revealed about Shirou is that he is ferociously protective over the Amane Jingū shrine and will protect it at whatever cost, even if it means becoming a monster to do so. The Amane Jingū shrine is not just a place he was ordered with protecting, but is now a place he calls home; thus intruders beware for the beast that lurks these hallowed grounds is unforgiving.
  
  Mentality wise, Shirou as one would expect is rather limited. Having not attended school in any shape or form; Shirou's vocabulary and thought process is rather vague and sometimes juvenile. He takes things for what they are and scarcely considers the potential underlying meaning behind words and actions. Sarcasm for example is a concept alien to him. Not so much a conversation starter, it normally takes quite a bit of effort to get Shirou to hold up his end of the conversation and many times it simply isn't worth the hassle.

  Shiro Inu, the Shikigami tasked with guarding the hallowed grounds of the Amange Jingu shrine under the guidance of its Shishun; Nobuyuki. A spiritual entity forcefully tied to the realm of mortals via a complex ceremony, Shirou for the majority of his early life served underneath a master; the one who conducted the initial ceremony and anchored his spiritual body to earth. Since the beginning of his existence, Shirou was often times used as a deterrent against trouble causing Yokai; a guardian spirit who alongside his master spent many years protecting the city and surrounding villages from the dangers of Yokai. Whilst not all Yokai are trouble seeking, many of them are still mischievous and despite not holding any dark intentions, still manage to cause problems for the human race. Humans by nature fear that of which they do not know and will often over react to the schemes of Yokai thus causing problems.
  
  The purpose of Shirou was to deter these mischievous spirits and even fend off the more troublesome Yokai when needed, fighting alongside his evoker on many occasions. Whilst inititally against the idea of fighting against his own kind much less serving under a human being. Shirou eventually warmed up to the idea as he watched the progress of his master until eventually years spent alongside his evoker had broken the 'Master-Servant' bond normally associated with the art of evoking a Shikigami, Shirou no longer needing the pact to forcefully make him comply with the orders of his master and instead doing so out of respect and acknowledgement for his masters prowess.
  
  For the latter part of a century, Shirou has been without a master and has instead been siphoning spiritual energy from the shrine itself as a means of retaining his corporeal body. Whilst it is common for Shikigami to return to the spiritual realm once their evoker has passed, Shirou has instead chosen to remain in the world of mortals in order to follow through with the final order of his deceased master; to watch over the future of the Amane Jingu Shrine and aide its Shishun with the task of preparing the new heir. An order which has recently caused the Shikigami a lot of inner turmoil. Whilst showing no distaste towards protecting the Shrine itself, the arrival of Kazumi; Heir apparent to the Shrine, has begun to cause changes within the seemingly obediant white dog. Whilst readily accepting of Nobuyuki's directions; Shirou has shown a lack of respect and obedience towards Kazumi, reluctantly allowing her to enter the Shrine itself.
  
  Her arrival has also inadvertently affected the flow of energy that Shirou maintains with the shrine; the spiritual energy that he siphons from the shrine itself beginning to weaken the longer Kazumi remains at Amane Jingu. Shirou himself is aware of the reasons as to why this change is occurring, knowing full well that he cannot indefinitely rely on the shrine to survive. By nature a Shikigami requires the spiritual energy from a master or practitioner to remain in existence and naturally would gravitate towards such when needed, more so when a blood relative is involved. Now that someone related to his former master has arrived, Shirou is finding it harder to rely on the Shrine to keep him here.

  ~General Abilities~
  

  

  
  1. Canine Physiology
  A broad ability, Canine Physiology is essentially the power to mimic and transform into a Canine, taking on the natural abilities of the species in question as shown in the link'. These are natural abilities that all Canines possess and as such are applicable to Shirou when he transforms into any of the three Canine forms he has. Enhanced Senses such as smell and hearing are applicable in any of his forms except for the 'Paper Doll'. In his Hybrid state, Shirou still attains several properties of his Canine form that are still applicable to his humanoid appearance, such as Enhanced Strength, Agility, Senses Etc. However attributes such as Enhanced Bite are lost as he still retains his humanoid Jaw.
  
  2. Reliant Immortality
  This is the power to be immortal so long as a certain object, person, etc exists. The user is immortal, their existence tied to an object, soul fragments, or even a person or concepts. So long as these things exist, the user can never die. For Shirou, this is the paper doll he was summoned with. As long as the original paper doll is still in tact, Shirou wont 'die'. This does not stop him from reverting back to that form. Should another Shikigami paper doll be used to summon a 'White dog', the personality and memories of the new summon will not be the same as Shirou's, thus his soul and sense of being is tied down to the original Paper Doll used to invoke him.
  
  3. Monster form
  This is the ability to shift beyond that of a normal white dog into something more monstrous in appearance. When enraged, commanded to or as a Last Resort, Shirou's base form will become corrupted, growing almost 10x bigger than normal and appearing to looks monstrous than canine. Essentially at the expense of being a larger target to hit, Shirou's natural canine abilities are enhanced further to match his size.

  1. Enhanced Roar
  The user is able to shout so loud that the user can blow away objects or break objects with their ferocious vocal cords which can cause vibrations. They may also be able to emit a roar strong enough to damage hearing, cause fear, or paralyze. The force caused by the roar may even cancel out opposing attacks. It can also be used to alert someone of the user's location.
  
  2. Feral Mind
  The user can tap into primal, unstoppable rage that allows them to perform in vastly increased capacity, taking and inflicting damage that they wouldn't in their normal state. In some cases, the user's mind descends so far into the feral rage that, mentally, they are little more than animals. In Shirou's case, doing so will expend a lot of spiritual energy and often times forces him to revert back into a paper doll state, where he would need time to naturally accumulate the energy required to return to a physical form.
  
  ~Weakness~
  1. Defenceless
  Should he ever revert or be forced into returning into his Original State (a Paper Doll), he essentially becomes nothing more then paper, thus if this paper is damaged to the point where it becomes impossible to 'invoke' him, Shirou essentially dies. He is utterly defenceless when 'unsummoned'.
  
  2.Reliant on Spiritual Energy
  As a Shikigami, Shirou is nothing more then a familiar servant summoned and forced to do the bidding of the one that has summoned him. This means that he is reliant on a constant flow of spiritual energy from his summoner in order to remain in a corporeal state. This source of spiritual energy can be substituted by another source i.e a Shrine, so long as his summoner has approved of the change, however this change is not absolute and is not the same as when he draws his energy from a pracitioner. When the source of spiritual energy is an object or place, the Shikigami is unable to leave the nearby vicinity and must always remain close enough to the source in order to draw the energy into himself. In other words he is tied down to the place he draws his power from and cannot leave. Doing so would cause the spiritual energy to leak out of him until he was nothing more then a paper doll. However, should Shirou ever accept a new practitioner and draw his spiritual energy from them, then he'd not be at risk of 'disappearing'.
  
  3.Naive
  Shirou is rather naive to the particulars of the real world, largely due to his general non interest in the matter. At the initial stage of his summoning, Shirou was primarily used by his practitioner for duties relating to the shrine and when that time came to pass he was tasked with safeguarding the shrine under the command of the Shishun and during this period he was seldom able to leave the hallowed grounds. Thus he truly knows little of the current times and will often become confused when modern day references are made.
  
  
  4. Larger target
  Due to the size of Shirou in his 'Monster' form, he becomes an easier target to hit and would naturally draw any kind of attacks onto himself because of this.
  
  5. Public Nuisance
  Shirou's large size in his 'Monster' form also means that he is highly likely to cause damage to nearby structures or involuntarily cause harm to those he does not intend on causing harm to.​

  Kazumi Miyamoto
  Shirou at present does not acknowledge Kazumi as the heir to the shrine and as such is highly disobediant when around her. As a relative to the one who first summoned him, Shirou will put up with her presence in the shrine, but beyond that does little to go out of his way to help her in her daily duties. This however does not mean that Shirou will outright ignore her. As a descendant of the one who summoned him, Shirou when the time comes will do as he was ordered so many years ago and will protect the one tasked with inheriting the shrine. Though whether this is a forced action from the order placed upon him or a sense of duty, is hard to say.
  
  Disobedience and a reluctance to actually help Kazumi potentially stems from the fact that Shirou is inwardly comparing her to his former master and due to their vastly differing levels of experience, feels that Kazumi is not adequate enough to replace the Master he has lost. There is also the underlying sense of fear that lurks within Shirou, a fear of 'breaking' the sense of loyalty he shared with his former Master, a fear that if he were to fully accept Kazumi as the heir, he would be doing a disservice to the one who brought him to existence. For a Shikigami, the one who summoned them might as well be a parental figure as without them, they would not be.
  
  
  Nobuyuki Yamaguchi
  At present, Nobuyuki is one of the only figures at the Amane Jingu shrine that Shirou will listen to and seldom argue against. As the Shishun of the shrine, Shirou is respectful towards the Tengu and will almost always without question take his advice and follow through with any duties that need to be done. Unlike with a summoner whose orders are absolute, Shirou instead follows Noboyuki out of respect and acknowledgement for his position and power.
  
  Despite being terrible at puzzles, riddles and Shogi, Shirou has on several occassions attempted to challenge Nobuyuki in these area's, only coming out the loser in nearly every encounter.

  Kosai "Chi Chi" Sukippu
  Kosai a fellow Yokai is often times the subject of Shirou's more animalistic instincts. For reasons he doesn't fully understand himself, Shirou often feels the need to chase Kosai around the Shrines hallowed grounds and nearby area's. This urge is often times heightened whenever she is in her hybrid or full form; the need to chase the rabbit down the rabbit hole is perhaps a flaw of his more canine persona. Beyond that however, Shirou doesn't actually hold any animosity towards his fellow yokai and often feels a sense of embarrassment when he allows the 'dog within him' to act on its predatory urges.

  The Shrine of Ebisu
  
  
  A Shrine Rises
  
  The Shrine of Fair Dealing came into existence somewhere in the mid 18th century, and was established by the Suzumiya family before it's inevitable abandonment in the mid 20th century. Created by Haruki Suzumiya somewhere in the 1750s and following his family's custom of visiting shrines, Haruki was influenced at a young age to eventually establish a shrine of his own dedicated to the goddess Ebisu (The Goddess of Good Fortune & Trade).
  
  Members of this shrine were often told the belief that if they prayed to the goddess Ebisu, their tribulations would dampen and her good fortune would wash over them. At the same time Haruki himself, named one of her servants, to be a warrior of justice and good tidings that would help the people if they asked.
  
  For the most part Ebisu's was often visited not for its power to send spiritual aid but was mostly visited during times of famine or drought. Where water was scarce and the need for rain was strong those that needed it most would visit the shrine and beseech the heavenly deity's name along with prayers to the god of storm, Susanoo. However it was not unheard of for others to call upon the deity's servant, formally known as Yorimitsu or as he was most often called by the public Raiko. A name dubbed to the spirit in reference to Minamoto no Yorimitsu.
  
  
  
  A Shrine Ends
  
  
  As time went on and life moved forward times began to change. The Ebisu Shrine gained less and fewer visitors as time moved forwards and by the 20th century the Shrine was all but ready to shut down. For the most part it's main audience derived from those visiting the shrine to ask for aid during times of famine, drought, or serious community strife but as time moved on and Japan itself moved with the times so did the visits dwindle and cease just as the current line of Suzumiya's interests in maintaining the nearly 3 century old shrine begin to falter and change.
  
  Eventually, it was decided that the Shrine itself would be closed but still open to the public for those that wished to pay their respects to the raging god of storms, and his most vigilant servant; a thundering warrior of karma and righteousness, Raiko.

  "Hello, my name is Shinji. It is a pleasure."
  
  
  Benign and benevolent, Shinji, Raiko or whatever you choose to call him tries to be a friend to all. Not exactly an extrovert but not entirely a introvert, Shinji is the quiet sort of person who enjoys the company of others and enjoys meeting new people. Holding a general sense of formality about him, maintaining a polite or calm demeanor when even in the most trying situations, Shinji is the type of person who you might think is the sort that gives off the feel of welcoming to all types of people not what shape or form. When in fact he's the kind of person who has a knack for being overly picky when socially interacting. He's just good at hiding it under a smile.
  
  More of the stoic sort who prefers to put others before himself, Shinji is the type of person who focuses on other's needs more than his own, as his ultimate desire is to create balance and bring punishment to those that desire to upset such balance. While not clingy or over-protective, Shinji will not hesitate to step into a variety of situations to quell or curb a tense time. More impulsive when it comes to moments where someone he cares for is involved and allowing his more frigid and stubborn side to show where or when it matters, Shinji despite his jovial, friendly appearance and seemingly innocuous demeanor can actually become quite cold and quite blunt when he decides mincing words is no longer going to help a situation get better.
  
  In essence, Shinji Kobayashi, the human, tries to be a friend to all, but in truth is very well aware that some people just rub you the wrong way. While not one to clearly vocalize people or things he dislikes or likes, Shinji does tend to pick favorites and may or may not make it clear in the gentlest manners he can display that he favors someone more than he will ever favor you. While he tries to be open-minded Shinji himself is also very idealistic and is difficult to be easily swayed. And while a person who favors conduct and harmony over discord, Shinji himself has no qualms tossing pacifism aside like a worn out rag in exchange for a different approach that yields better results.
  
  To put it simply, Shinji, Raiko, Yorimitsu or whatever you desire to call him, despite his good nature, is sort of a hypocrite.
  
  
  Raiko
  
  
  
  
  "Why am I here? I was told to ask for your immediate withdrawal of these acts. This may be entertaining to you but it is harmful, to them. If you persist, I will take matters into my own hands. And there will be no mercy."
  
  
  Raiko or as he was formally called in the 1800s Yorimitsu, is a servant of good fortune in every sense of the word. While Jami are believed to be manifestations of ill will towards humans, Raiko takes that concept and stereotype and flips it on it's back in exchange for he being the ill will of fellow yokai. Where Shinji is Raiko's mask to fit in with human kind, Raiko is where Shinji shows his true colors and reveals just what he's like as his true self.
  
  While still a entity that values humans and the well-being of others, Raiko does not display this same affection towards other yokai, especially those of his own race. Centuries of dealing with different types of yokai have made him disillusioned towards most yokai as a whole. To most yokai, Raiko is indifferent, apathetic, and somewhat stiff, but he is not out right shunning. Where Shinji puts on a mask to hide his true feelings, Raiko is where Shinji (on rare occasions) stops mincing words. He is to put it honestly, stops using sass as his passive aggressive means, and starts being more blunt than Shinji usually is when dealing with people he dislikes or people that harm those he cares for.
  
  Raiko, in all honesty is an idealistic entity who cares for living beings alike. His past is what makes him feel so much loathing towards fellow yokai and while it is uncertain if this will ever truly change, he is not incapable of forming decent friendships with some yokai in general. He has done it before, and he is not completely against doing it again.

  Background
  
  
  A common belief is that Jami all have an innate nature to spread ill will as manifestations of malevolence. Raiko, like the many different yokai of the spiritual realm, is no different than a 4 tailed kitsune was to anyone else in the kitsune community. In fact, he wasn't particularly rare among his kind but he wasn't particularly common either.
  
  When Raiko first came to stumble upon humans, it was a journey he'd made leaving his home that would later become the same place he scared mortals away from a century or so later. Separating from his kind to explore the outside world as many wandering yokai tended, he first came across a small little village that fed its people through livestock and farming, and it was this same village where he met a small, frail boy by the name Haruki Suzumiya. Haruki, wasn't the first human Raiko had seen. In his journeys Raiko who later became Ichigo, Subaru, and eventually Shinji, had seen many humans in his travels. But Haruki, he was special.
  
  In the beginning, Raiko was just a bystander. He watched humans interact in their day to day lives, watched how they communicated, marveled how they interacted and found their ways to be quite fascinating. It was meeting Haruki and observing him from afar, that allowed the young yokai at the time to learn that certain humans had the gift of sight to see yokai or the gift of awareness, to sense the presence of yokai. Haruki held the latter, and it was through observation and watching the young child go through famine, frigidness, and loneliness at a young age that prompted Raiko to intervene when the boy eventually became deathly ill.
  
  Through a series of events, somewhere down the line, Yorimitsu, became Raiko, a servant of Ebisu and a correspondent of her will.
  
  If anything, Haruki, and other humans similar or like him that Raiko had the chance to see, meet, or observe, is the reason why he dislikes his fellow yokai more than anything and is one of the reasons he favors human company more than other yokai company. In his time Haruki has had the chance of seeing much harm in the lives of humans. Whether it be war, famine, political strife or change, when it came to yokai causing these negative events Raiko took it upon himself not just as a tsukawahime or servant to a god but as his duty in reverence to those he'd met in the past to crush, cast out, or disuade any yokai that proved to be a problem in the lives of mortals.
  
  It is due to his experiences with yokai of all types of many branches and races that Raiko himself finds such a strong distaste of most yokai in general and hardly ever associates with those of his species unless the reason is of utmost importance.
  
  Since the ending of the Fair Dealing Shrine in the 1970s, Raiko has been more prominent in his home, the Aokigahara Forest. But in the past twenty years has paid his visits to the various civilizations of Japan.

  1. Can drain the life force of vegetation or return it within a 13 meter or 36 foot radius.

  Note: When Shinji/Raiko is draining someone a white glow emits from his hands. Only other yokai or humans with the gift of spiritual power will be able to tell he is draining.

  Since becoming a servant of Ebisu, Raiko has achieved a form of immortality that ties into the belief of good fortune. So long as good fortune is a concept that exists he cannot be indefinitely slain.

  Tsumugi Ito
  
  Tsumugi Ito could be considered a caretaker of the Shrine of Ebisu. Since the age of 9 and the one time her and her older brother visited the Shrine, Tsumugi has taken it upon herself for reasons that don't exactly seem clear to Raiko to visit the shrine and occasionally clean the place up. For the past 8 years she has been doing this and since doing so Raiko has taken it upon himself to visit her whenever he senses her presence in the abandoned shrine.
