It has been about four days now, being lost at sea. You give a small cringe, remembering that you wouldn't be in this tight fix if you hadn't so clumsily lost your map. You feel fatigued, beat up, exhausted. You have been reduced to hardly eating anything and the question still lingers in the air: How will you make it out of this mess?

Just when you nibble at the last crumb of bread on your tiny ship, there's a spark of hope. Land, land! You race to the window and see a strip of soil, smoke curling up into the sky. That meant civilization! You must have finally reached your home land, Johto! You immediately race over to the prow, after changing your navigation toward it, and excitedly observe it. You didn't even realize you could feel such... energy at the moment.

You wait around for a good, long seven minutes, simply tantalizing the idea of reaching your friends again.

But something wasn't right.

You neatly park your ship by the best substitute for a dock and rush out to greet any inhabitants, but there was hardly anyone in sight, and if you aren't mistaken, the scarce few that are present don't seem familiar at all to you. Maybe some new people moved in. You're too excited to care.

That is, until you see a huge man approach you. He certainly looked friendly enough, but there seemed to be a bit of confusion flickering in his eyes. "And who might you be?" he inquires warily, but politely.

You hastily tell him your name, and in the mean time, it would be nice to double check that you aren't in another region by accident, so you ask where you are right now.

He seems to ponder over this. "What exactly do you mean 'where are we'?" he asked quizzically, raising an eyebrow. "Why, we're in Pallium, of course! Do you know of any other lands?"

You look just about as confused as he is.

You suddenly feel a surge of fear, clawing at your own throat and making your heart race although your blood turns cold. You explain that you've never heard of such a place. He doesn't look convinced. So you continue to tell him about all the other regions you know; Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh, Unova, and Kalos.

He seems to still be in deep thought, digesting all this strange information. You can't blame him. Either one of you had to be pulling the other's leg. "Come with me. I'll show you around and tell you about us."

You hesitantly oblige.

Johto has remained the same for quite some time now. Once they had finished exploring the mainland and a few islands, they left it be for quite a few generations. Really, that was all they needed to know. The idea was ridiculous that there would be another undiscovered land within the region. Nobody believed it, and furthermore didn't care. There were no more islands. It was just them and them alone.

But they were
wrong. One sailor had been cruising along the sea when he had gone off course. Finally after a few days he found a nearby patch of land, but what was this? This land did not look familiar. Actually, it wasn't familiar. It was some new land. Once the man had hit shore, it was a breathtaking sight.

The island was inhabited and doing fairly well on its own, but it was quite strange, almost
alien, to the regular cultures. Everyone on the island seemed to only have one pokémon with them that was ideally close to their trainers. Although, they weren't really trainers at all. The pokémon weren't bred to fight here, they were merely companions and had identical personalities with their owners. There was another thing on this island that was completely foreign: they worshiped Lugia solely.

The stranger to the island was greeted warmly, even though they had never met anyone quite like him and had never heard of this 'mainland'. Not to mention they
deeply disagreed with their cultures, but they maintained steady politeness. The sailor was so excited that he told them nearly everything about the rest of the world. They seemed to be startled by some things, such as pokéballs, with which they thought sourly of, but let the stranger stay to rest anyway.

As a matter of fact, he was asked that he would send a message to this mainland to welcome everyone, and that a
festival would be held as a welcoming. Of course the man accepted and was off before the sun had another chance to rise. As he arrived back to the land, word spread quickly and it perked trainer's interest from all over, including some unwanted company. Team Rocket, to be exact. Yes, indeed they had been interested in the island. Why exactly? It was their belief in Lugia. In their minds, the islanders should have a deep knowledge of the legendary Pokémon, and if they're lucky, it will be nearby.

Several trainers from all over gathered on the day of the ship's arrival, including several members of Team Rocket that had gone undercover as regular trainers. The trip lasted several days, and all is well for all of them. Those of them that had gone undercover had not been discovered, not even
suspected in the least.

Nox Pederis, intent to be Latin for "Losing night", is a unique, advanced and mature Pokémon role play, though we have been informed otherwise, as shown below. Affectionately shortened to Nox, we aim to provide a fun, tight knit environment and an exciting twist to the fandom. All regions will be included, so it is advised that you have at least some knowledge of all of them. The role play, for the visitors, will start out on the cruise ship on their way to Pallium, while the islanders will be going about their own business and preparing for the arrival of the visitors. This is done in order to establish at least a few relationships before they land on a foreign island, so any friends that are made will be likely to stick together. As for the setting, anything goes. Just try to be consistent with what others have established.

"Well yes, it should be noctem because it's nox, noctem if you want it to be "You lose the night", but pederis does not mean 'losing'. Perdo, perdere is to lose. Pedo, pedare is to prop up feet/trees, and pedo, pedere (which is what I think you have) is to fart. I am not kidding, and you've got it as the second person singular subjunctive present active and it's hortatorially commanding so it's hortatory for second person which is like, indefinite subject but loosely means "Let you be farted the night" as a command because second hortatory is command form of the present subjunctive. Although I'm pretty sure it's passive, not active, so yeah, really, you've got a jumble of latin there that is hilarious to any latin student (such as myself). What would be correct would be "Perdemus Noctem", or, "We lose the night." If you want "Losing night", you'd have to use the gerundive."

As established in the previous wall of text, there is no true guidelines for the way Pallium is laid out or any particular landmarks, so you are free to make of it as you like. However, there are certain things about the island that are established, that of which is all important to know.

At Pallium, the
weather is always clear. It has never snowed, and when it does rain, it's light and just enough to water the plants of the surrounding area. It does not matter if there is a storm brewing at sea, there has never been a storm recorded in history to afflict the island. Folklore has it that when Lugia created the island, he also created a surrounding barrier, shielding Pallium from any natural disasters - be it a hurricane, tsunami, or even an earthquake.

Since Pallium's discovery, the island has been something more of a
tourist attraction. Because of this, some of the islanders have been busying themselves by building a hotel. Construction is still being undergone, and until then, the visitors may stay in their bunks on the docked ship, if that is their preference. Since the islanders have no use for them, Pallium has no Pokécenters, Pokémarts or PCs. However, all of those remedies are provided for trainers on the ship.

Located on Pallium is a large
temple all in dedication to Lugia. The temple is composed almost entirely of marble. On the inside, there are statues that lead to the end and are set up in two rows on either side of the temple. As each statue progresses to the largest of them all at the end, the depictions become more and more accurate, and though the others are no longer thought of to be Lugia's appearance, all of them display the grace that is said to be Lugia. In the middle of the temple is a podium, where a tablet is encased in glass. However, despite the islanders best efforts to preserve it, the text on the tablet has faded to where most of it is illegible.

Everyone outside of Team Rocket believes that the gang has been long since disbanded. There has been little to no criminal activity by such a team for two years to prove otherwise, in any case. It is said that Giovanni was finally defeated and abandoned the team, leaving them in a state of confusion, to where they simply left.

However, in actuality, Team Rocket is still there. There was some
incident a while back in which the Team has not seen their dear leader ever since. However, their pay checks have still come in the mail, and there have been various messengers delivering orders or other means of contacting them. For the first time in a long time, select few Team Rocket members have been sent on a huge project.

The Team Rocket members who have been selected to go to Pallium have all be distributed a Pokégear. This particular model can only receive messages from one particular, private line. Options for making calls or sending messages of their own are displayed, but any attempt will result in the Pokégear notifying them there is no signal. Throughout the role play, people who are role playing particular Team Rocket members will be sent a PM containing the message that was sent to their character's Pokégear, which should then be role played out. All orders that have been issued will be listed here.

The role play at Nox follows the world of the manga more closely than it does the anime or game. This section will cover details on what will be role played and the style of the battles inside.

Battles and Pokémon

When battling, the a
ppearance of a move dictates the power and effect of the move. For example, if a Venusaur knows vine whip, lashing out at a Pokémon should do a moderate amount of damage. However, since the Pokémon has vines that can be freely controlled, they may also be used in other ways, such as grabbing hold of another Pokémon. Moves, such as ice beam, can be dodged, regardless of the accuracy in-game. However, do not abuse this. Additional affects for moves, such as a chance to flinch, still apply, as well as moves having greater priority than others.

Stats that apply to the game are entirely irrelevant in this role play. The Pokémon here will not have levels, and there will be no attack stat versus special attack; a Pokémon will simply be hard hitting or bulky. Thus, battles are largely dependent on how a Pokémon has been. Under the right circumstances, a Pokémon that is not fully evolved can be perfectly capable of taking down one that is fully evolved.

Trainers may
intervene in battles, though it is not recommended, and may be hurt if they are not careful. For instance, if a Graveler were to set off and earthquake, trainers may be caught up in the wreckage, intentionally or not.

Psychic types and some ghost types are the only Pokémon that may communicate with humans. This is achieved through telepathy. Otherwise, Pokémon may only be able to talk amongst themselves, including those outside of their species.

So long as it looks like it should have one, a Pokémon will always have a gender. Most of the lower legendaries, such as Raikou, will have one. However, legendaries such as Arceus and Rayquaza will not.

Water Pokémon will experience more difficulties on land than in the water, especially if it's something like a Goldeen or Whiscash, and will not be able to reacher their full potential. Some, like Floatzel and Gastrodon, can manage just fine or land, but the water is always better for them. In contrast, Pokémon who do not swim will be at a nearly impossible disadvantage if they are in the water, and fire types may die if exposed for too long.

If a Pokémon battle is too intense, or if it is continually attacked after fainting,
may die. Old age and disease may also do this. In addition, particular attacks can cut another Pokémon, and yes, they would bleed. It is against the law for trainers to exploit this, so deaths in battle are not too common, but Teams have a tendency not to care.

Contests

Contests are divided into two rounds: an appeal and battle round. There are generally three judges. Poffins and Pokéblocks both have the same effect. The conditioning improves things such as the gloss of a Pokémon's coat or the build of it (though the build is also improved through frequent battles). Depending on the contest, one or two Pokémon may be allowed per round.

In the
appeal round, the Pokémon show off their moves or combination moves with themselves or another Pokémon, displaying beauty or grace with them.

The
battle round is advanced to by the half of entrants who did the best in the judges' eyes. During the battle round, the Pokémon continue to show off their techniques. The Pokémon have a time limit of five minutes and aim to deduct points from each other by landing hits, dodging hits to where the opponents' fails, using a move or combination that is particularly impressive or using the opponents' own moves against them. The round ends when either one Pokémon has been defeated, the points for one Pokémon has run out or time has run out. This continues until there is only one team left standing.

Pokédexes and Mega Evolving

Pokédexes are rarely distributed devices among trainers. In order for a trainer to possess one, they must have a close relationship with one or more of the region's Pokémon professors. The Pokédex is a useful device to have that will give the general information of the species of any encountered Pokémon, such as their typing, and tells the moves of any Pokémon a trainer has just caught. Without a Pokédex, trainers have to find out a Pokémon's moveset on their own. Because of this, many trainers that are not familiar with move names are left to give general orders and instead leave most of the battling up to their Pokémon.

The ability to mega evolve a Pokémon is even less common, because in addition to finding the mega stone, a trainer must have some device that functions like a mega bangle or mega charm. Even after acquiring these items, probably through connections with very rich and powerful people, the bond with that particular Pokémon must be strong. Mega evolution can only achieved by all of these items and the Pokémon being relatively close to each other, though not necessarily touching. Remember that the Pokémon revert to it's original form once it is done battling. In the role play, any Pokémon with official art for the mega evolution is available, even if the game for it has not been released yet. Pokémon currently available for mega evolving in the role play are:

 • Venusaur
 • Charizard
 • Blastoise
 • Beedrill
 • Pidgeot
 • Alakazam
 • Slowbro
 • Gengar
 • Kangaskhan
 • Pinsir
 • Gyarados
 • Aerodactyl
 • Ampharos
 • Steelix
 • Scizor
 • Heracross
 • Houndoom
 • Tyranitar
 • Sceptile
 • Blaziken
 • Swampert
 • Gardevoir
 • Sableye
 • Mawile
 • Aggron
 • Medicham
 • Manectric
 • Sharpedo
 • Camerupt
 • Altaria
 • Banette
 • Absol
 • Glalie
 • Salamence
 • Metagross
 • Lopunny
 • Lucario
 • Abomsanow
 • Gallade
 • Audino

Please take all of this into consideration before giving all of your characters all the mega stones and pokedexes. While we will have no particular numbers in mind for how many can have what, there will be restrictions if too many trainers have these items.

If you are interested in the role play, please fill out the following application and send it to Pine, and you should receive a reply within a day or something close.

Name: [What you go by.]

Activity: [be honest. Put it on a scale of one to ten or describe it, which ever way works for you. Preferably both. Don't lie, either, because we'll find out one way or another.]

Time Zone: [Most people role playing here will reside in America and Canada, so Central and Mountain time would be ideal. If your clock is set no where near our hours, then Nox, again, may not be for you.]

Role Play Sample: [Please give a sample that's close to what we can expect from you. If you have read the rules, you should have a good idea of what is expected. The sample does not have to be Pokémon, but something humanoid would be good, though is not required.]

5. Be able to

actively participate

in the role play if you intend to join. Plan to be on

one week

of not hearing from you, a message will be sent to ask if you are still interested. In

two weeks

, if we still have not heard from you, we will

kick

you from the role play and

delete

your character. If you have stopped receiving alerts from RpN,

check the role play anyway

, because it's likely that the alerts were just being buggy. If you are

active for weeks and weeks then suddenly disappear, however, we'll know something is wrong. If you know that you will be inactive in advance, send

a message rather than

leaving us in the dark

about it.

6. RpN has it's own rules that we must abide by, so please make sure you are

familiar

with them to keep us out of trouble. Do

not

try to get around filters, create multiple accounts, or be

excessively

vulgar. Remember, cursing and other foul language is more acceptable in character than out of character.

IN CHARACTER RULES ;

1. Absolutely

no

power playing. Everything that happens to a person's character is up to them. For posts pertaining to combat, be sure to

leave the option open

for them to dodge, block, or get hit.

2. God moding is similarly

prohibited

. No one should be able to dodge and block ever attack or go

unscathed

when taking a hyper beam to the face, unless someone is

largely outclassed

, as in someone's first battle being against a gym leader.

3. You are allowed to progress your character throughout the role play, but do not make that your sole focus of the role play. No one likes it when someone gets

power hungry

.

4. Nox is an

advanced

role play, meaning we expect your skills in role play to be developed. While you should never shoot for

quantity

, please keep your posts from becoming

short and incoherent

. The grammar of the English language should be second nature to you and a good, meaty paragraph minimum for your post is

expected

. If there is some lavish event going on with many things to describe, take the time and space to look into describing it, in which case

several

paragraphs are expected. Do not be the person who makes a

climax anti-climactic

. If it is noted that you cannot uphold these standards, we reserve the right to dismiss you from the role play.

5. Nox will also be a

mature

role play, meaning we are lenient with many things, but we must stay within the parameters of RpN's rules, so again, make sure you are familiar with them. Embellish in gore and romance at your discretion, but know when too much is too much. On that note, Nox aims to take a more realistic spin on Pokémon and is closer to the manga than the TV series. Guns would be unfair to have, but knives are perfectly plausible, as well as a Pokémon being scratched up or even dying (though, again, this is up to the individual role player).

6. For consistency's sake, as well as a personal preference, make sure all role play posts are in

third person and past tense

.

7. Any important post that affects the environment will be marked in

obnoxious red text

, so make sure you read those before making your replies.

8. An extensive system for post orders will not be established, but please use

common sense

to determine when to post. All the people your character is interacting with should have posted before you do, so please respect that. After

five days

of waiting, you are permitted to skip others.
