Sovereign
We Glorious Fallen
Locations
The following are districts or locations in the Atlantis setting available for players to use in the RP as they see fit.
Upper Rings
The Mag-lev rings that orbit Atlantis are state of the art, nothing like them exists anywhere else. Buildings both rise like spires from the ring, and hang below like stalactites. Only the elite of the elite reside on the Upper Rings. The rich, the powerful, the geniuses, and the upper echelons of the ASF reside in the lush, lavish, spacious architecture of the Upper Rings. Beautiful marvels of modern technology blended together seamlessly with the latest architecture as a playground for the modern aristocracy. The Upper Rings are home to ASF headquarters, finding it much easier to deploy from up on high to any given situation. The people here are carefree and all crime is white collar or clandestine --crime done with numbers and business transactions. Gossip and drama are as close to violence as anyone gets in the Upper Rings.
Inner District
The Inner District might not be as high-brow as the Upper Rings, but it is by far the most bustling district in the city. Relatively safe, full of constant activity, and absolutely thriving, this district is home to the Atlanteans that came initially to the city, and those that immigrated before the war. Unemployment is nearly unheard of, and the woes of the world beyond and of The Span are nothing but news stories and history textbooks to the consumerist dwellers of the Inner District. Layer upon later of masterfully crafted city floor-blocks give the illusion of a spacious home, while still making impressive use of limited space. The peak conditions of the Atlantean citizens led to a population boom, but overcrowding has not become a problem like it has for The Span. Many living in the Inner District were living on Atlantis before the city's actual completion, working to complete the city and give life to what would have otherwise been a desolate metal husk on the ocean. A sort of neo-rave culture evolved in the Inner District reminiscent of the Spantech movement from The Span, both are based heavily in the latest wave of electronic and synthesized music as well as consumption of alcohol and NTN's or Non-Toxic Narcotics --scientifically designed narcotics which are not harmful in any significant way to humans.
USC Controlled Districts
The USC holds a fair portion of The Span and focuses its relief effort on the places they can hold and reliably patrol. Surprisingly, the USC Controlled Districts are perhaps some of the safest in Atlantis, second only to the Upper Rings. The people in USC controlled territory are notably happier than anyone else in The Span. Civilians are provided food and shelter if they need it, and the USC employs the unemployed for extremely fair raises. Maintenance crews, janitorial staff, construction workers, restoration teams, the USC finds whatever they can have civilians do and offers to pay. Despite all this there are those that still want to end the USC intervention --they believe it to be an occupation and atrocity despite few complaints against their conduct. While not exactly thriving, people in the USC Controlled Districts are getting on as well as can be hoped.
The Span
"The Span" as it is called, is comprised of all the districts tacked haphazardly onto the very fringes of Atlantis. Tightly packed and built only to maximize the use of space, The Span is home mostly to refugees from the war. Poverty is at an all-time high, and the most lucrative source of income is drug dealing and prostitution. There are many in The Span who work at the production factories and foundries of the Commercial District, and nearly as many who join the Atlantean Security Forces or Atlantean Police Department. This unfortunately breeds a sort of culture shock. The powerless are given power and many begin to abuse it --bitter about their previous poverty and powerlessness. Police corruption in The Span is rampant, and it does little to weaken the grip of criminal organizations that have rooted themselves deeply in the bowels of district. Thugs of the LeCroix Syndicate own the streets, own the drugs, own the brothels, and any business making real money in The Span. The Armie LeCroix brandish their uniforms and their weapons openly, daring the Atlantean authorities to move against them. Only the Ultan Special Contracts troops are brave (or stupid) enough to strike against the Syndicate. The constant scuffling between the Armie LeCroix and UCS leaves entire city blocks looking like war zones. One can never walk the street without fearing they might be caught in the middle of a full-scale gun battle. Blood stains the streets, and corpses will sometimes lay in the gutter for days before being removed by UCS or Atlantean forces courageous enough to do the right thing. The UCS forces struggle to provide relief efforts, and until recently they made little headway. With the debut of the terrorist known as The Parasite, the Armie LeCroix has suffered more lost resources than ever before. Now a three-way faction war for the hearts and minds of The Span, it's never been a more dangerous place to live.
Commercial
District
The Commercial District is the financial heart and soul of Atlantis. Despite its name, all the scientific research facilities call this district home --though corporations from across the globe maintain branches and headquarters here as well. Factories and production facilities of all kinds line the district's lower floors, many even below sea level should any sort of industrial accident need to be contained in a hurry. Few people live in the Commercial District, but the streets are bustling every hour of every day. Industry never sleeps in Atlantis and there is always money to be made. Wayne LeCroix sits atop the tallest tower in the district, directing his business --both legal and illegal-- with a heavy hand. There is nothing that cannot be bought in the Commercial District, and as the years march on the market as a whole has seen a complete and utter descent into they grey areas of morality.
