Name: Hadrian Vultus

Hadrian had finally climbed out of the Mt. Silver mountain range when he saw the crystal clear lake and smoke coming houses in the distance. It was like a god sent. He had spent the last month traversing loose snowy mountain sides and icy cliffs. He had barely eaten anything other than the snow he managed to melt long enough to make water. Most of his food had gone to his Pokémon.

Why was he running away? It's a long story than can't be shortened, but skipping towards the end can be done. Hadrian had faced off against a horde of Team Rockets gang and managed to escape thanks to help from his pokemon, Kōtahi. Kōtahi was was a battle-experienced primeape. It was the first pokemon he had ever caught and he had grown with Kōtahi. That's why Kōtahi had disobeyed Hadrian when he told him to retreat. Instead he fought of mobs of Team Rockets pokemon leaving Hadrian time to escape with the Eevee he had managed to rescue.

They fled towards the mountain range to escape the hell that was the Kanto Region. As a practicing Botanist and aspiring Pharmacist, Hadrian was able to pick out herbs and plants that were edible and gave himself and his pokemon essential vitamins. Most went to his Pokémon and his partners pokemon. Hadrian had a partner in crime that he met as he was fleeing. Elena was a childhood friend.

In fact when they chose their started pokemon from the professor, Elena was right next to Hadrian. They ended up together, fleeing their home and seeking refuge in Johto. They finally managed to make to the region when they saw the smoking rising from up ahead.

Hadrian's pace picked up as he drew closer to the village. His clothing tattered. His skin tight to his skeleton from fatigue and hunger. His body has cuts and bruises all over it. He needed a doctor, a meal and a good nights rest. He was so close to having it. He glanced over to Elena to see how she was doing now that they were in the home stretch.

"Almost there. We're almost there." It was a statement that Elena was getting too used to saying now that it almost seemed to be a robotic habit of hers. She was pushing herself now, reminding herself that they were almost there, they were almost to safety. Regardless of how close they were, she was exhausted, they had been moving nonstop for days with little downtime. As they came out of the mountain she gripped onto one of the rocks, panting heavily as she looked up to see that Hadrian was already making his way towards the village. "I need a break." She gasped, trying to catch her breath as she looked to the dark haired male. "We need to stop. Five minutes, please." She begged, looking to him desperately. Yes, they were close to the village but she needed to stop.

Beside her, her Marowak was even panting from the physical exertion it took to get them through Mt. Silver, the Pokemon's chest rising and falling with each breath. For the most part she looked okay, other than the little cuts and scratches on her skin and the bags under her eyes. She had been doing her best to feed her pokemon, her Venusaur being in the worst shape of them all. "I just need five minutes." She repeated, hoping that Hadrian would stop and wait for her. So far he had been good about respecting her needs to rest when she needed to but seeing how close they were to the village she wasn't sure he would be willing to wait. It had been a long couple of weeks for the two and she was sure that Hadrian was ready to be done with her, it hadn't been easy on either of them. Both had lost precious team mates, Elena had lost her father's Golem as it had worked to defend her and Hadrian.

Without an answer from Hadrian she seated herself on the ground, taking a few heavy breaths and trying to control her breathing. Rumor was that Johto was safe but Elena was prepared to keep on going once they got back on their feet, the farther they got from Kanto the better. "Okay, I think I'm ready." Elena decided, standing up and patting Bubba on the head before making her way towards the village. All they had to do was get to the Poke Center and everything would be taken care of from there. They would be given food and a bed to sleep in and from there they would work to get back on their feet.

The sun was setting on Mohogany town, which was always an hour earlier because they lived under the protection or the mountain range. The sun always disappeared behind the mountains before it actually set. The town had grown accustomed to this as it led to a weird damped light that made all shadows disappear. This shadowless hour was time when people would travel home from work and begin prepping dinner.

Today it was the time that two refuges from Kanto emerged from the path of the Lake of Rage. One was standing tall in his long winter coat and the other was trudging along, but both were looking rough. They made their way to the pokecenter and Hadrian basically collapsed once he got inside. He had been putting up a tough face not just for Elena but for himself as well. Now he could finally relax and he almost passed out once he stepped through the doors of the pokecenter.

He caught himself on the back of a waiting couch and pulled himself up. He was heading for the counter where Nurse Joy was when he peered over at her as he entered. Now there was no one behind the counter because Nurse Joy was in action. She had her Chansey and Sunflora already pushing out two Gurneys for the two humans about to collaspe in her atrium.

That's all Hadrian remembers before blackness.

Once she was on her feet it was a race to keep up with Hadrian, the brown haired girl following after him in a hurry. "We did it. We made it." She breathed out, following after Hadrian with a tired smile as they walked into the pokecenter. She could tell by her friend's strained gait that he was losing energy a lot quicker than he should have been. "Hadrian!" Elena gasped, moving to try and help him but luckily he was able to stay on his feet as she knew she wouldn't be able to hold him up. In fact, her body was wanting to fail her as well. They barely reached the counter before her legs started to slide out from underneath her, the girl falling into the Chansey as it approached her.

"Our Pokemon - they need help too." The girl spoke weakly, gesturing to the pokeballs on her belt and to the Marowak that had followed her in and who was sitting by her side worriedly. Unlike Hadrian she had managed to stay conscious throughout the process of being loaded onto the gurney, though she was more worried about her friend. "He hasn't eaten much, he needs to be treated first." Of course now she was stating the obvious, Hadrian's case was more emergent as he was unconscious but the Chansey didn't seem to mind trying to take care of Elena as well. She allowed herself to be wheeled back into one of the exam rooms.

"Take care of him. He took care of us, he can help." Elena spoke worriedly, lifting her head in an attempt to catch sight of Hadrian.

The Sunflora carted Hadrian down the hall to the room next to Elena's. The messy, brown haired girl would catch a soft glimpse of Hadrian being wheeled into the medical room before the door shut behind him.

Sunflora would help Hadrian into a medical bed while nurse joy came in slipping some rubber gloves on. "Sunflora go get me an IV pack from back." She asked her Pokémon as she pulled up some medical utensils, but first she started by taking off his backpack. She put it to the side and grabbed his coat next. His coat was basically in rags now so she cut it open with scissors.

When she did two pokeballs and one premier ball rolled out onto the bed. She took them and put them to the side before continuing with her inspection. She cut off his coat and then his rank shirt coated in sweat, dirt and blood and tossed it in the hazardous bin. Her eyes inspected his thin, pale body for anything serious but all she found was a weak heart beat, some bruises, scrapes and a two broken ribs.

She then went towards his pants, but for the sake of time....

...Nurse Joy turned away from young man flushed with beat red hue. She looked to Sunflora who had come in with IV and spoke to her. "You can put the IV and the medical gown on him." She said taking the pokeballs and running out the room trying to make the heat radiating off her face disappear.

She walked into a checkup room where there are some pokemon resting and recovering right now and she releases his Pokémon one by one.

First it was Eevee, who upon coming out of the pokeball. She hopped up on the bed and was ready for attack when she saw Nurse Joy and seemed to relax. Nurse Joy sighed at the sight of the little Eevee and reached out to ruffle the pokemons fur only to get a face full of pokebutt. Hadrians Eevee was snobbish and didn't like other people touching her.

Nurse Joy just laughed and opened the second pokeball. A growlithe appeared and the same as Eevee was growling, ready for battle. But unlike Eevee it didn't stop growling at the sight of Joy because it didn't see its master anywhere. Growlithe was ready to attack when Nurse Joy spoke up, "he is sleeping right. He is safe and needs his sleep. Try not to wake him."

Growlithe was caught off guard by the kind Nature of Nurse Joy and he seemed to relax. When he relaxed so did Nurse Joy. Growlithe hopped up onto the bed with Eevee and the two began to bicker with one and other as Nurse Joy opened up the Premier ball. A massive, pokemon suddenly filled the room and it caught Nurse Joy off-guard.

It was Hadrian's Snorlax. Hadrian's Snorlax was unique in that it was a truer shade of blue than most Snorlaxes. It was also bigger than most Snorlaxes. Snorlaxes average out about 6'11 to 7' feet in height. Hadrian's was atleast 9' feet in height. There was no telling how much it weighed. It was a massive Pokémon. Thankfully mohogany towns pokemon center has some high ceilings.

Nurse Joy looked at the three Pokémon, setting their balls to the side and spoke to them. "I have another patient to go see. You three sit tight. I'll have Sunflora bring you all some food and blankets." She said before scurrying off to Elena's room

Soon enough the sound of a gurney rolling down the hall caught her attention and Elena peaked her head out of the room to watch him be rolled by, clearly being very worried about her friend. Sure, they were out of the wilderness now, they were technically safe but after spending so much time together and relying on each other she wasn't very comfortable with being away from him. As the door shut she gave a worried look to it, willing it to come back open but nothing happened and so she stayed silent. The Chansey chirped at her impatiently, deciding it was time to start her treatment and the brown haired girl obeyed the pokemon, allowing it to start treating her. She tensed at the sight of a needle, knowing that she needed the fluids but also not being too excited about it.

She was in her gown and had her IV hooked up and was waiting patiently for Nurse Joy to tend to her. As the nurse entered her room she looked to her curiously, a question forming on her lips. "How is he? His pokemon?" She questioned, leaning forward only to be pushed back into the cot by the Chansey who looked at her sternly. "Is he okay?" Elena asked again, looking at Nurse Joy as she began treating some of her scratches. "What happened to you two?" Nurse Joy questioned, causing Elena to frown a little bit. "Team Rocket. Team Rocket happened." Was her only answer and Nurse Joy nodded in understanding of the situation, now understanding why the two were in such horrible shape.

"My Pokemon, they need to be taken care of first. I'm okay." Elena insisted, gesturing to the belt of pokeballs in hopes that her pokemon would be taken care of. Nurse Joy seemed to hesitate but when it became clear that Elena wouldn't allow herself to be treated until her pokemon were treated, Nurse Joy had her Chansey work on releasing the pokemon. Of course Bubba was already out, the Marowak looking between Elena and Nurse Joy expectantly while her Venusaur and her Seadra both focused solely on Elena. "It's okay guys, we're safe. We're okay now. It's okay." She cooed, reaching out to stroke her Seadra's head affectionately. "Can you get him to a pool, please?" She questioned, knowing that Poseidon wouldn't be very eager to leave her alone.

Nurse Joy smiled sweetly at Elena and petted her knotted hair with a hand. She nodded at the girl and spoke in a soft quiet tone. "They can join Hadrian's pokemon in the back where the less critical pokemon are. You need your rest so please stop worrying. I don't think your Pokémon would want you to worry on and affect your own health." She says nodding to Chansey who already has the dripp going in her arm.

"Chansey would you please escort Elenas pokemon down the hall." Nurse Joy asked and Chansey chirped a yes. She began pushing the Pokémon down the hall like a professional soccer mom would tryin to get her kids out of a toy store.

Nurse Joy watched as the venasuar had to swueeeeeeeeze on through the sliding glass door, probably breaking it in the process. She sighed to herself and looked to the patient. "Alright lets see what's going on."

While normally such a gentle gesture was soothing, all it did was want to make Elena throw up. Her mother used to do the same thing to soothe the girl in times of despair and it was now evident that she would never see her mother again. There would be no going back to Kanto, not any time soon. And even if she could go back she wasn't sure what would be waiting for her at home. She wasn't even sure if she had a home left to go to. "Less critical pokemon? No! They need to be taken care of right away. You have to tend to them first, they're all hurt really bad. They need medical attention." Elena urged, sitting up again and watching as her pokemon were forced out of the room by Chansey.

"Please. At least take care of them before me. I can wait, really. I need to make sure our pokemon are okay, I won't be able to rest until I do." And she wasn't lying, she wouldn't be able to rest until she knew for sure that both Hadrian and their pokemon were okay. When it came to herself, she considered herself to be of least priority, Hadrian and the pokemon came first. They were in worse shape, she would be okay for a little longer. "Please." Elena insisted worriedly, tugging her arm away from Nurse Joy as she went to treat a gash in her arm. "I'm okay." Elena stated for probably the hundredth time in a five minute period.

The sound of straining glass drew her attention to the door, her eyes widening at the sight of her Venusaur forcing himself through the doors. Soon a snap sounded and she rose a hand to her face, pinching the bridge of her nose in frustration. It was then that she noticed Nurse Joy inserting a new liquid into her IV line. "A sedative, to help you rest." Was all she heard before her eyes slowly closed, the girl's body relaxing as she drifted off to sleep. Nurse Joy was able to treat the various wounds on her body, including the gash on her arm.

Hadrian came into consciousness in his bed with two objects resting on him. One was resting on his chest, or what could be generously called his chest. It was resting on his next. The other object was resting on his lap. He slowly opened his eyes to see a furry brow object blocking his view of the room and its tail smacking him in the face.

Hadrian chuckled at Eevee and slowly sat up. Eevee slide down his torso as he did. Hadrian hissed in pain and reached down to his aching ribs. He felt some wrap around them and sighed to himself. His memories began coming back to him. They had made it out of the mountains and found safety in Johto. Safety. He was safe.

Some tears began to well up in his now rested eyes. The once dull black gaze was a vibrant deep ocean blue color once again.

The Pokémon in his room were woken by the sudden appearance of Hadrian sitting up. Eevee was chittering madly. Growlithe was barking and howling like a mad dog. Snorlax was no where until there was a thud against the window. A giant Snorlax with bamboo sticking out its mouth was waving to Hadrian with a big smile plastered across its tubby face.

"Yes. Yes. I'm alright. Relax. Guys. Relax. Nurse Joy is gonna think something is happening and we're gonna diatracr her from her people he actually need her help. But it was to late, the sliding glass door to his medical room opened up revealing a hectic Nurse Joy panting some.

"What's happening?! What's going on?!" She said coming in ready for a crash cart but she only saw two wildly ecstatic pokemon running and jumping on the bed and one hungry Snorlax stopping itself from indulging for the first time in days just to say hello to its master.

That's right. Days. Hadrian had been sleeping for days. His body was so exhausted and broken that it was ready to shut down on him. Making it to the pokecenter when they did was nothing less than miraculous. Anymore time in that mountain range and he would woke up dead the next day. But with the help of Sunflora, Njrse Joy and some rest Hadrian was rested finally and beginning to recover.

It had been two or so days until she had finally been able to wake up on her own, the brown haired girl's exhaustion finally having taken it's hold on her. When she woke up there was plenty of confusion, especially regarding the fact that she was in a hospital bed and only Bubba was seated by her side. Her other two companions were nowhere to be found and neither was Hadrian. Everything was a blur and she grunted as she forced herself into a seated position, the action alone taking some effort as her stiff body didn't want to move just yet. Immediately the Marowak started hopping up and down, his bone club bouncing on the floor in his excitement.

She blinked as she heard the sound of feet rushing down the hallway, something that startled her and made her worry as she realized where they were. Hadrian. They had made it to the PokeCenter and Hadrian had been put in the room next to her own. And those feet were rushing towards the room where she recalled Hadrian to be placed when they had arrived. Worriedly she rose out of the bed, ignoring Bubba's attempts to get her back to bed. "No. I have to check on him." She stated, swatting away at the Marowak's paws as he tried to grab onto her. "No." She repeated, frowning at the Pokemon as it tried to block her.

Eventually she made her way around the Marowak and into the room next door, holding herself up in the doorway. "You're okay." She gasped, glad to see that Hadrian was okay and that his two pokemon were with him. And then it dawned on her, she was missing two of her pokemon. "My Seadra and my Venusaur, where are they?" Elena questioned, looking around frantically in fear that the two had been in such horrible shape that they had died or something tragic.

"They are outside." Nurse Joy said off handedly to Elena. She was to focused on inspecting Hadrian's wounds and gaging his reaction.

"Does it hurt here?" She asks him as she rotates his shoulder.

"Yea, but nothing some time and some rest won't fix. Really Nurse Joy you've been more than gracious. Thank you." He says to the red-headed nurse and bows his head to her.

The nurse laughs a little to herself and walks out of the room to return to her station at the front of the Pokémon center. Sunflora follows after her leaving Elena and Hadrian in the room together.

Hadrian is sitting up, looking over his Pokémon and watching them bicker with each other like they usually do. He listened to the sound of bamboo crunching in the background. It was like a soothing tune that could bring nothing but warmth and reassurance to his heart. He made the right decision coming here.

It seemed as if it was taking forever to get an answer on the status of her Pokemon, a factor that was unsettling to Elena. She was behind worried about her companions and as soon as she got confirmation of where they were she nodded. She would need to go and see them soon but first she wanted to make sure that Hadrian was alright.

She watched as Nurse Joy tended to his wounds, the woman wincing at the sight of his shoulder being rotated. As soon as the nurse was finished the brown haired female approached him slowly, looking him over. "You no longer look like a walking skeleton. That's good. How are you feeling?" Elena questioned, her eyes assessing him before she looked at his Pokemon.

"And you guys, how are you feeling?" Elena asked, carefully petting both the Eevee and the Growlithe affectionately. The Snorlax seemed to be content enough and upon being ignored her Marowak grunted at her. "How are you feeling, Bubba?" Elena mused, smiling gently down at the Pokemon whom stood at her side looking rather serious. He looked as if he was a trained body guard. Or a baby sitter.

Hadrian seemed to relax even more now that Elena wasback to her normal worrisome self, but their was some agony in that worry. It never ended and it got painful to listen to after a while. It's actually one of the secret reasons he left their starting group during their first year of being trainers.

There are a lot more prelevient factors but this was just like one of his things. He looked around his room and seemed a little confused. "What happened to my clothing?"

A frown came to Elena's lips as he didn't answer her questions regarding his health, maybe it was obvious that he was better but she still wanted to know. After all, they had just went through a lot together and she wanted to make sure he was okay. The pokemon seemed to be a lot better, looking completely different from the dirty injured pokemon that they had brought from Kanto with them. "She had to cut it off. I could go get you some more if you wanted?" Elena questioned, pausing as she realized something - she didn't really have any way to buy more clothes. Shit. She would figure something out, surely she had a way to get this done, to get them supplies that they both needed.

"Well, I'm going to go and find my Pokemon. I'm glad to see that you're okay." Elena told Hadrian before leaving the room to go outside to see Henry and Poseidon. Bubba followed her closely, the Marowak sticking close to her heels as they went to find the Venusar and the Seadra that she was looking for. Battling could get us some money but I've had enough of that. Surely there's another way we can get money around here.

Hadrian watched as Elena left without really saying much and he sighed to himself. He was feeling like his normal self again and that usually meant putting up that wall that was impossible to climb. He had done it before with Elena and now it was back. It was just a natural reaction he couldn't grow out of, but he needed to. Elena and him had been through a lot and it couldn't just end here. They needed to stick together and Elena needed him. He wasnt going to abandon her again.

"Elena?! Elena?!" He called out but it was to late. She was off going to check on her pokemon.

Nurse Joy saw Elena looking around for her pokemon and she walked over with a smile on her face. "Its good to see you walking around. I washed your clothing and they are back in your room. Your pokemon are outside since its a beautiful day and they are playing with the other pokemon and trainers."

The sounds of Hadrian calling out after her caused her to pause in the hallway, the girl stopping herself from turning around and rushing back into his room. He had started to push her away again, something that she was sure they were past - they had become so close and here he was preparing to throw it all away. You were his crutch. Nothing else. She reminded herself bitterly, frowning as she continued down the hallway and went outside to meet her pokemon. She was greeted by Nurse Joy who explained that her clothing was still viable and was now clean and who also explained that her team was okay. "Thank you so much." Elena replied, smiling graciously.

She walked herself over to the pen where her pokemon were, a smile showing the second she saw Henry and Poseidon enjoying themselves. Of course Henry was resting in the shade and Poseidon was playing with a few other water types in the pool, seeming to enjoy himself. It had been so long since they had been allowed to come out and just play and she knew that they needed this opportunity to act like Pokemon. The trainer seated herself on the edge of the pool that way she could be with both Henry and Poseidon when Henry decided to greet the others. Bubba had wandered off with lovestruck eyes, his attention stuck on a Ursaring.

While she was still troubled by Hadrian's sudden change in behavior Elena knew that she couldn't dwell on it, not right now. She needed to fix things and to get her life back in order, and whether or not Hadrian was part of that she wouldn't worry about it. Not at this moment, all that mattered was that her team was back together and her Pokemon were okay.
