Nissinah relaxed slightly in response to the boy's assurances that he was not upset by her rather careless mistake. She really should learn to keep her mouth shut, but being around so many people and disconnected from nature made her uncomfortable and she tended to ramble when uncomfortable,
much to Della's irritation sometimes. The bird was paying her no mind, at the moment, instead letting out soft chirps as the boy petted her. She supposed if the sparrow was comfortable enough to be so close to these people, she could learn to be as well.

There were a few who made her a bit less anxious, at least. The large bear-like man had the air of the forest about him, something primal and barely contained beneath the surface of his skin, something she was sure would make anyone not attuned to the beasts of the forest uncomfortable, but his bestial aura intrigued her. Next to him, the half-reptile elf drew the druid's attention as well. She could sense a strong connection to nature emanating from the green-haired female, the same connection she felt in many from the elven village in her forest. At least there were a few in this group that Nissinah would be comfortable around.

The dryad felt a bit better at the mention of the forest from Guide Morgrim during his final words before he exited the tavern. He warned they would have to be careful in the forest, but they would be safe from most beasts at the very least. Humans she couldn't talk down, but her magical influence over beasts at least gave her a chance of talking them down. She was unsure how well she could do it, however. She did not know if her influence on beings outside her own forest would be less than on those within. She supposed they would have to see, but first...

She hung back from the others leaving the tavern behind the necromancer, including the cold elf who had pledged his service to the Guide just before herself, his staff making quiet thunks on the ground as he walked out into the early sunlight. She was ready to go, but she intended on speaking to the green-haired woman with the strong connection to nature and the bear-man as well. She approached them and started to speak, but didn't know how to start, so she stood there awkwardly hoping she wasn't making the pair uncomfortable.

Jezebel shuffles on her feet. She can feel sweat creeping down on the back of her neck. How many people did the guide request for their services? That amount of races are pretty overwhelming. She's only seen elves, humans and a couple of beastkin in her life since most of her time is dedicated to shrine work and helping villages. She wasn't sure who to interact with, seeing as all have already fell into some conversation with others near them. Well, not all... some are standing around awkwardly as she is, especially that tree. Her gaze keeps darting to the tree since its one of the bigger beings in the tavern. Wait... now that she thinks about it, it does seem like the dryad is interacting with someone? Jezebel couldn't tell, feeling what little presence the large hat person had.

Morgrim states about heading out of Sanctuary and Jezebel groans in frustration. But she just got here! The city is so vast and huge that she has the urge to explore the whole place, not to be kicked out into the woods again! At least she wasn't hungry, which is a start but- Jezebel looks at the bear man especially- the amount of food for this large group is going to be difficult to get. Probably Morgrim has all the funding he needs for this journey, hopefully; he is paying? Jezebel straightens the traveling pack on her back, ready to head out with the group.

Jezebel says to herself, "Well, this is my only chance to explore. Wasn't expecting the weight, but that's fine. I'm sure with this amount of people, it wouldn't end in chaos.... I think."

(Breath of the Wild completed! ;U time to get back into writing once more so here's a shitty short piece. I should be able to follow along now)

Being out on the road as opposed to the tavern made Riktos happy. The bear was happy too, for the most part, it didn't like to stay in one place for too long. Well, that was inacurate, it wasn't that the bear didn't like to stick around, it was that there was more often than not more food wherever the bear wasn't. Given, the bear did eat alot, and faster than your average bear, but that said, the bear didn't stay in one place for too long.

The bear's keen hearing picked up the mumbling of one of the smaller party members. That is to say, smaller than most of the party members, Riktos was one hulking mass of a man, and probably the largest one there. But the small woman was quite disgruntled about not being able to explore. Clapping a large hand on her back, Riktos chuckled. "Do not worry," He said, "Sanctuary isn't going anywhere. It will still be waiting for us the next time our journey takes us this way."

As they continued walking, the dryad that introduced itself as Nissinah joined the small group within a group that had formed, consisting of himself, Alaria, and Jezebel. Riktos smiled at the walking spirit of the woods, having known a couple in his time. "Well met friend!" He rumbled, "It's been years since I've seen one of your kind." Remembering that Nissinah was one of the latecomers, and was not there when he introduced himself, the beorning took the chance to do so now. "I am Riktos. I hope we fight well together."

Roxii remained silent as the Guide finally announced their departure, the others assembled either following the undead man out the door without hesitation or battling themselves as they decided whether or not the journey would be worth their life. Already having removed herself from the latter group, the blind assassin retrieved her cane and began following after the man who emitted a terrible smell. She supposed avoiding using her shadow magic would be beneficial. Not only did it make her relatively invisible to other magic-wielders, but it also kept her magic reserves at the fullest in case they ran into trouble on the way to Ellanor. The forest between Sanctuary and Ellanor was a dangerous place full of bandits, rogues, the Mad Men, and other inhuman beasts and creatures. If their group is to survive the two-day trek, then everyone, including the wolf-elf, ought to be at their best condition at all times.

The Lythari took a sightless glance at the others accompanying her. There were definitely going to be issues between her and some of the others present, especially with the vampire and the newly-arrived Eldar Elf whose light was brighter than any sun. It had been a very long time since the elf hybrid had heard of an Eldar Elf. Last she heard, they were all extinct. She couldn't remember the last time she saw an elf who even remotely had some sort of Eldar blood flowing through their veins, and here was one whose blood ran pure with the long-lost heritage of the Eldar Elves. This Guide truly did recruit an odd group of individuals.

She averted her attention to the matter at hand. This rag-tag group of nobodies was supposed to save a dying world? She supposed it wasn't impossible, but it definitely sounded utterly stupid and ridiculous. The proposition seemed worthless to the dark assassin at first. However, after much thought, Roxii decided it was worth it. Especially since that one place—that one little place so far north, it peered over the vast northern waters of LandFall—would be saved as a result of their success.

If they succeed.

Now that's the real determinant, isn't it?

Morgrim stepped out of the front gate, both the guards who had let them all in looking thoroughly defeated. After a long morning of freaks parading past them, either having to be convinced, tricked, or threatened it would come to and end for them. Finally the band of misfits were leaving the city, and they could all see the two guards visibly relax and let out a hearty sigh, shoulders sagging and muscles relaxing. Morgrim gave the two a dismissive nod, and left them be. Now the journey was to begin.

The outskirts of the forest was only about a ten minute walk away from the city gates, with towering trees that reach to the skies with foliage thick enough to blot out the sun when under its cover. The heat bears down less harshly once they are under its cover, and the air seems to feel heavier with moisture and darkness. The feeling could be described as calming, or terrifying depending on preference. Morgrim was one to find it a homesick kind of feeling. Memories of his home ran through his head before it was engulfed in fire and ash, Morgrim would push away the feelings though. He killed the man responsible for the order, but there were plenty left alive who committed the deed themselves. Such thoughts danced around in his head for hours as they walked and walked in the haunting forest.

Morgrim didn't talk to anyone yet, he let them talk to each other, mingle with each other, and watched as some stayed off to the sides. He was merely observing at this point. He knew their names, he had heard rumours of some of them, but all in all he knew none of them. If he was to be a proper leader, a true guide he would have to learn about them all so that he could usher them into a future where they all get to live, instead of the one that seems to loom over the horizon.

The journey goes on for nearly another hour when suddenly a call of beasts can be heard. Any of them would be able to tell that it is the sound of wolves, only their call is significantly more guttural and vicious then the common wolf, and soon the beasts were upon them.
697ff8ed6801d01aeb1b73c52bc1c9ba.jpg

A pack of bloodthirsty werewolves set upon them, fur matted crimson red with blood, and muzzles dripping with a mix of saliva and blood giving it a red opaque texture. Razor sharp claws extending several inches from their furred finger tips. The beasts surrounded the party in seconds, and there are easily a dozen of them. Whether the group likes it or not they are in a fight with no way to negotiate. The beasts have mostly lost their humanity and their minds, but they are still able to speak a few words, for example. "Kill them, feed!"

"Everybody watch each others backs, and do not break formation. If you break rank they will slip through our defense and kill us all. Let them attack first and counter!"
Morgrim stated while making sure his back was protected by the others of the group. He was putting his trust and faith in the group, and he wanted to make sure they would get through this alive. Werewolves have superior speed and strength to most mortal creatures, so they would have to rely on better teamwork and intelligence if they want to win this fight. As if on cue the beasts lunged and aimed their claws at their throats.

Dakul walked not far behind the Guide on the way out of the city, giving the guards a respectful nod as their motley crew passed by them. He didn't blame them for being concerned, a bunch of random strangers, some of whom stood out more than the others, coming into town all at once could mean trouble for them, so he made allowances for their relieved faces as the group exited the city. While unprofessional, it was understandable.

The cryomancer remained quiet through the trip. He wanted to talk with the Eldar, even slowed to walk near her a few times, but was unsure about how to speak to her. She carried herself with a stiff air one that spoke of centuries of experience, which made sense, of course, any surviving Eldar (assuming she isn't the last of her kind) would be quite old. Her people predated even his own. He'd studied a lot of elven lore in his time at the college, and he found it fascinating that she did indeed seem to have some sort of light pouring from her in waves. He didn't want to be rude or bring up old scars, but he was awfully curious about her people's abilities.

He had opened his mouth to speak to her, finally deciding on a line of conversation that likely wouldn't offend her,
when a series of vicious howls split through the dark forest around the group. He heard a small chirp of alarm toward the front of the group and the small bird that had come in with the dryad flitted over his head, settling in the flowers on the dryad's own head and burrowing itself in so it wouldn't be visible. He didn't blame it, the creatures sounded like wolves, but the volume and depth of their cries suggested a much larger size and a much more unpleasant demeanor. Dakul barely had any time to pull the ether in the air around him to ready a spell before they emerged from the trees--gaur*.

The beasts surrounded the party, their snarls sending flecks of bloody spittle flying everywhere. At least a dozen, maybe a few more, Dakul couldn't quite tell as they wouldn't stay still for even a moment, instead swinging their impossibly long claws threateningly and circling the group. Morgrim shouted at them from the front, but Dakul only caught a few words over the snarling of the gaur. He caught the gist of the orders, however: Stay together and watch each other's backs. He took a few steps back toward the Eldar female instinctively, since she was the closest to him.

The beasts sprang at the party all at once, giving Dakul little time to react. He narrowly avoided a claw that went for his throat, receiving a gash on his shoulder instead. He let out a cry of pain, but tugged the threads of ether that he had seized moments before, twisting them into a blast of icy shards that hit the werewolf's side. The spell had been rushed, though, and as a result didn't have the impact it should have. The shards glanced off the beast's thick hide, leaving only small scratches as a result. The cryomancer cursed loudly at his careless mistake as the werewolf came in for another pass.

The thin layer of air surrounding her body makes the bear's clap on the back more bearable. Jezebel looks up at his towering height. He tells her not to worry about leaving Sanctuary early. He does make a good point; the city feels like a place where events- good or bad- are bound to draw back their group of misfits. With that in mind, her walking now has a little bounce to it, showing that she's in a good mood. Jezebel finds herself making acquaintances, or more like she's tagging along quietly with Riktos, Alaria and Nissinah.

Morgrim leads them out of the city and within minutes they are back into the forest. Her mind wanders, staring at the other members of the group who are in front of her. The heights of some of them make an odd sense of protection against the unknown of the forest. An hour passes before the peaceful sound of the forest is replaced by beast-like howls. These werewolves that dart out of the trees look like they've already killed something- or someone on their way here. Now they surround their newly formed party with hunger to match their hostility.

The guide shouts muffled instructions over the growling. One werewolf leaps in her direction. Out of surprised, she sends the beast flying into a tree with pressurized air. It doesn't harm it nor shaken it, only making it stand up again despite the tree it just broke from its weight. There's a lot of them so this battle should end fast, right? The speed and strength of these animals are unnerving. Jezebel shuffles on her feet anxiously, ready to follow whatever sort of command a group member has in mind.

IMG_2980.PNG
Riktos had smelled the wolves far before he heard them. Or the bear did. Yep, definetely the bear. As a result his longer sword was already in his hand by the time the group heard howling. He held the blade in one hand, when it would usually take other men two. Alaria, who had been holding onto his arm previously had let go, but the hulking mass of a man still gently nudged her behind him protectively all the same. He stood with his feet flat, heels digging into the ground.

The first of the wolves attacked Dakul. Riktos didn't care for elves in battle, but this one seemed to hold up fine with his magic. Jezebel seemed to have some magic in her as well when she repelled one of the attackers. Given that she was closeby too, Riktos took another step forwards so he could cover her as well.

Now the bear hated wolves. Wolves and the bear went back very, VERY far. Especially wolves that changed into men, and visa versa. Riktos's thoughts became a bit fuzzy, and he wasn't sure if it was because of his wild blood, or the thrill of battle. What he also wasn't sure about was why two of the wolves decided to target him. It might have been because he was the biggest individual in the party, it might be because he smelled like a bear, or it may have been because he was protecting two, less harder looking targets. But the wolves came, and of that he was certain.

The first came at him from the side. Riktos gripped his sword in both hands, swinging it in a viscious arc. He caught the werewolf on the nose, and it shrank back a bit, then the other took its chance. A well placed punch form the beorning sent it staggering back on its hind legs. The two were using pack tactics, and Riktos hated that. He could still take them... Or the bear could take them... this wasn't a problem...

Another lunge from the werewolf. Another kick. Was he yelling? He was yelling, and the wolf... the bear... they were mad. The other one swiped at him with his claws, their hard, sharp points grating over his armor. Riktos hit his opponent with the pommel of his sword, but the other jumped on top of him. Was it him? He couldn't tell, because someone had their teeth in his shoulder. But it wasn't his shoulder.

The bear was not happy. The bear was wrestling. But this wasn't a play wrestle. Fur sprouted from Riktos's arms, his face, his hands grew into paws. The man grappled with the werewolf as the other juped on his back, but he was growing. Bones shifted into place under his skin, joints cracked as they pulled apart and put themselves back together. With a deafening roar, the bear shook off the wolf on its back, and batted the other against a tree with a massive swipe of its paw.

He was bigger now. He was stronger. He was tougher. The bear lowered its head, snorting, shaking its head. it smelled blood. It also smelled people. The voice in the bears head told the bear these people were good. Given this, the bear took a few steps back, protectively guarding its side of the people. The bear was bigger than the wolves. It knew that the people would help it. This was a fight worth having. But more importantly, possibly more important than anything else from the shaggy, muscular beasts point of view: It was pissed.

Ryan would have been one of the first to hear the distant werewolves, but her ears twitched and swiveled at any noises within the forest. She was also listening to the others, trying to get a read on who they are and what they wanted from all of this. Needless to say, she had dismissed the noise to be wolves or wild dogs or anything convenient. So her surprise matched the others' as werewolves were coming upon them, and she tensed. As Morgrim shouted orders, she found herself going back to her short time in a militia. She may have complied easily enough against men, but these were beasts. So fear gripped her heart, and her eyes quickly flickered to Soma for direction.

The two had remained further behind the others, making for a loose formation and slightly isolating them from the rest of the group. It gave them a moment longer to contemplate their movies but also made the thieves blatant targets. Packs liked stragglers. Not wanting to be any closer to the beasts than she had to be, Ryan chose to draw her spear over her sword. She hated the steel for its Silver Legion make, but they did make excellent metal, so she would gladly use their weapons against to protect herself.

Her fear fell away slightly when the loud, burly man among them suddenly changed. He grew into a bear, rivaling the size of two of the werewolves. Shifters weren't common from her country, but they they were considered particularly spiritual and often took lead of tribes and bands. But Riktos was beyond that and powerful. "Whoa," she gasped. He easily stole the show, and the werewolves that had charged were suddenly hesitant as they assessed the new threat.

Almost completely awestruck by the raw power the beastkin displayed, she almost got her throat sliced by one of the 'wolves. Her ear twitched as it stepped just a little too heavy, and her heart skipped a beat as she dropped scurried away from its closing jaws with a squeak. "Soma!" she warned, turning to face it. She couldn't fight it--she was shaking far too much to even return the attack. So she stepped away from the growling beast, and hopped as it pounced again. Ryan's hand found a low branch, and she used the strength in her gloves to pull herself up onto it so she had a safer view of the fight below.

As the Lythari passed by the guards who had let her into the glorious city, her cane silently guiding her behind the rest of the newly-assembled group, she stifled a small chuckle at their shocked and irritated faces. The poor men knew immediately that they had been tricked, but they knew better than to try and get revenge right then and there. It would cause a rather unruly and unwanted scene. And so, the men—especially the captain—glared at her with utter hatred and disdain as she walked by with an air of satisfaction and grace.

It didn't take them more than ten minutes to reach the beginnings of the forest. The plains began to become dotted with trees—which increased in density as they walked—, and the blistering sun was now blotted out by the thick canopies of trees. The moment they were under the blanket of shadow, Roxii began sending out pulses of darkness at regular intervals. Anyone with a sensitivity to magic could feel the cold brush against their skin, though most may not be able to determine what exactly the magic was. Either way, the magic was a good way for the assassin to keep an eye on their surroundings. With the thick foliage and the gradual darkness, the forest would be the perfect place to plan an ambush, despite the group's size.

The first hour of the trek through the woods was rather... peaceful. Hardly no one spoke, nothing peaked her magic's interest, and the only sounds were that of their feet crunching against the grass and dirt and the chirps and whistles of nature. Nothing was happening except a nice stroll through the forest. Peaceful. And boring.

Until something touched her shadows.

Her magic retracted at the touch, but then it lunged towards the source. The clawed fingers, razor-sharp canines, and matted fur were familiar to the hybrid. Their bodies were contorted yet large and burly. Whatever they were feasting on—some poor traveler, it seemed like—was hardly discernible due to the pack's bloodthirsty lust for death. Roxii knew they would catch the group's scent. And when they did, they would come running with ungodly speed and tear them apart.

The wolf-elf slightly quickened her pace so that she could reach the Guide and warn him, tell him of the dangers that lurked around the corner. She was but a few feet from the Guide and opened her mouth to speak when the guttural, vicious howls sounded. An ear swiveled towards those howls. "Food!" those bloodthirsty howls called. Her grip tightened on the cane as the beasts' howls and snarls came closer and closer. They had their scent, and there was no way in any hell that this group would be able to outrun the hungry beasts. No, they would have to fight their way out.

The rogue's cold shadows continued glazing over the werewolves as they surrounded the group, their growls and snarls attempting to frighten the group. Their eyes grazed over each member of the group with hunger, until their gaze settled on the wolf-elf. A few of them seemed the smile, though the action was rather difficult with a muzzle and a mouth full of sharp teeth. "
You," one of them spoke in their guttural tongue. "You smell of us, but you are not us. What are you?"

Roxii stayed silent for a moment for responding in the same tongue, though less savage and more civilized, "
Better than you." A small, mischievous smirk adorned her face at the short retort. It seemed the anger the beasts because their snarls grew more vicious and, after the Guide spewed some "Stay together" commands, they attacked.

One of the werewolves lunged at the Lythari with anger glazing their eyes rather than hunger. Its claws were readying to rip out her jugular. When the werewolf was close enough, the wolf-elf acted. She dropped to the ground and unsheathed her sword and, with careful precision, the Lythari sliced the underbelly of the beast. The thick, matted fur on the werewolf kept the cut from being fatal, but the blade did draw blood. Now that the werewolf was too close for comfort, Roxii began straightening out while bringing her fist up for a punch to the jaw. With her hand coated in dense shadows, the blow was more effective than just her strength alone, so the beast stumbled back a few feet.

Now that the rogue had breathing room again, she put her cane away and retrieved her dual shadow daggers. She got into a defensive position next to the others. If the group worked together and no one tried to be a hero, some of them may be able to get out of this alive. If things began to go south, however, the wolf-elf wouldn't hesitate to take the first chance she saw to leave the group behind. She wasn't going to put her life on the line for a bunch of strangers.

"Ohh Merciful Goddess. What in the world are those things?"

His question went completely unanswered as orders were shouted and everyone pulled their weapons free. The thief's eyebrows shot up in amusement at how tense everyone suddenly got. These beasts looked nowhere near as threatening as the monstrosities of the desert. There were Colossal scorpions the size of houses and giant leviathans of sand hidden just underneath the dunes, waiting for some unfortunate being to step into their awaiting maw just beneath the sedimented earth. Still, Soma could tell a threat when he saw one and certainly these creatures were a threat. Their hides looked pretty damn thick and that meant he would need penetration power, so Soma pulled his dagger from its sheath. The blade was heavily enchanted to be able to pierce the natural plated armor of the nasties in the desert. While the hide may be tough, it wasn't anything close to the Chitin or exo-skeletons of the demons of the sands.

The beasts seemed primitive and savage-like so the thief could safely assume that....

Then they lunged forward....

'Yep. They are morons. Alright.'

Many things went down quickly but most impressively was the biggest man in the group, shifting into a giant.....something. Some kind of beast that was even bigger than other ones. Looked leagues more dangerous too. The other thing that caught his attention, completely, was the cry from his Beastkin partner. Everyone in this group's lives were of no value to Soma but Ray? Like hell he was going to let her come to harm. The thief spun around and sure enough, Ray had narrowly dodged the jaws of death and jumped up into a tree. She was panicking and Soma could see it in her wide eyes. The fear was practically oozing out of her. That....would make her a target to these kinds of creatures.

'Time to lead by example then.'

Soma clutched his dagger a little harder and spread his weight evenly to the werewolf that had launched itself at the rabbit beastkin and Soma extended his arms like some kind of preacher to the beast.
"Come get some, you ugly bag of fur and dirt. Probably over here attacking the girl because you don't have the stones to attack the bigger beast over there li-" Soma was sure by the creatures growl that after he said "ugly", he more than had the beast's full attention. The hulking animal of fur and blood charged the Dream Eater but no change in expression was seen in Soma's eyes. The same lopsided, cocky smile adorned his lips even as the monster went to tear his head off. Alas, the monster couldn't have expected for the desert dweller to be there and then.....not. Soma simply disappeared. Or it seemed that way at least. In reality, Soma had become a mortal blur of speed and ducked, positioning himself directly under the monster. With the same blinding speed, the sand rat drove his enchanted dagger into the werewolf's chest, aimed directly at the heart. The enchantments sure did their jobs as the dagger ripped through fur, skin, flesh, bone, and organ alike until its hilt was buried in the lycanthrope's breast and its heart thoroughly pierced. The second enchantment kicked in, assuring the wound would not close to any kind of regeneration or healing for a long time and with a wound like that, the beast's fate was sealed. Now....to address the other issue.

"Come on down Gorgeous! These monster's are child's play! I'm more scared of you when you are mad at me!" Ryan was capable of handling herself with these creatures. She was faster than Soma naturally and definitely stronger. She just needed confidence and the beast that was stabbed by his blade still wasn't dead yet. It was the perfect confidence booster she needed even if she didn't know the beast was going to die anyway. The rabbit girl didn't need to know that. "Come finish this one off. I gotta make sure your little group doesn't die."

As if the God of Madness himself had possessed the master thief, Soma rushed to the frontlines alongside the mighty beast (bear) thing that the warrior man had turned into and Soma even stepped in front of the thing. A smile came upon his face as he raised his voice for all to hear, "COME ON! You pathetic excuse for beasts! I've seen feral cats with more ferocity than you dirty little pups! I think a yowling baby intimidates me better than you. All those teeth for nothing! You flea-bitten mongrels should really stick to prey at your skill level. I would suggest slugs. It seems more appropriate!"

Apparently these creatures were able to understand him to some degree because ohhhhh boy did they get pissed. Whether it was because of his boistering, the fact he was clearly out of position (Even if he did have a giant ursa behind him), his over the top yelling, or just because they hated Soma's shit eating smile. But he certainly got their attention, one way or another. So much so that the one in the front, the one that spoke some kind of words, rushed up and began to slice at the thief with claws and fury. Apparently, this one was a little smarter than the others. He wasn't just going to dive dick first like the others had. Still, this just made it more fun for Soma as his form blurred mere nanoseconds before he was torn asunder by the alpha's claws. Soma was dodging at mind numbing speeds but at the last possible fraction of second. It may seem reckless but there was a reason for it.

Anyone could tell that with that speed, Soma could easily dodge way before the attacks even got close but Soma needed to keep the attention of the Lycans on him or on the giant bear behind him. This opened up hundreds of possibilities for the group behind the two vanguards to land some critical shots and easily dispatch these monsters. Soma had been facing odds much worse than this since he was born. To him, this was a damn walk in the park and he sure acted like it.
"Hey, followers of the undead guy?" He said while turning away and dodging a strike simultaneously so that he could look at the group. The other lycans were on closing in on Soma and Riktos now and things were going to get hairy soon. "You wanna take advantage of my stupidity yet? Or is it too inconvenient?"

If you listen, you can hear it all reaching for the sun.

Like water dripping down a hill the ragtag group of friends slowly made their way away from the city of Sanctuary and into the forest that surrounded it. Serene and tranquil were the best way to describe the forest. A result of countless people who walked the path they now take. Despite the occasional monster, which was a rarity in of itself, the forest was well know for being peaceful and uneventful. Over the course of hundreds of years the trees had given countless travelers and traders shade from the sun and safe passage through, otherwise, desolate lands. The trees and shrubbery were alive in their own way, like the animal that called them home and like the giants that passed through. Different but the same. Dancing and dreaming, slowly but certainly. "If you listen, you can hear it all reaching for the sun" Upon entering the forest he would speak in his unusual manner, his comment not aimed at anyone in particular but this time of the landscape around them. He felt everything around them. The quiet trees, the loud animals, and the threats that were harbored by everything else.

For the next hour or so the group would quietly walk through the forest, some quietly conversing among each other while others choosing to remain silent the entire time and let others fill the silence. During the entirety of the walk he would remain next to their guide, his friend, Morgrim. He felt flashes and traces of old pain emanate from the undead man, old memories being dragged up and brought to the forefront of his mind. Crow sympathized with him more than anyone in the group, they were more similar than what Morgrim knew. Both of them products of their past, both of them resulting from loss by the hands of Templar's.

The spell of quiet would soon be broken however as the threat from before would soon turn it's head. The wolf like beasts he felt from before, which he just assumed were out hunting for their meal and would leave them alone, were coming back and surrounding them. This feeling the young boy had would be validated by the rising anger from the man that was a bear and the pulses of dark magic the blind Lythari was constantly sending out. Soon their ears would be overran with growls and howls from the pack, which turned out to be werewolves instead of normal wolves. That was much worse then wolves. Wolves could be talked to, werewolves typically couldn't.
They want to be big, to kill everything. Nothing more, nothing less. The first to react to the situation would of been Morgrim, who quickly backed up to the rest of the group with the command of: fight together or die alone. He was right. If they didn't work together they would all die here and their mission would be for naught.

The pack of feral werewolves began to lunge at and attack almost every member of their group, Dakul the ice elf being the first to be attacked. Barely avoiding a lethal blow the elf would receive a wounded shoulder from the claw of his attacker before launching a failed ice spell at the werewolf, who was then blown away by Jezebel's own spell. Before Crow could do anything the man that was a bear, who was now a angry bear who was a man, started defending the group from the feral attacks, transforming into a bear after being bit on the shoulder. Simultaneously the desert walker that had stayed in the wings from before, Soma the thief, was on the front lines, and even in front of the Riktos now, distracting the majority of their attacks with taunts and nimble dodges. This distraction would open up several opportunities for the group to take advantage of, allowing them to kill several werewolves practically for free.

With this opening Crow would reach into his pockets grabbing two of his bombs and chucking them towards the large amount of werewolves in front of them. The bombs would travel low to the ground and stop a few feet into the pack of werewolves, exploding and releasing a powerful concoction that would put a couple of the werewolves to sleep temporarily; allowing the warriors to easily pick them off. After this he would then reach for whoever was closest and most likely able to fight the werewolves. This happened to be Dakul and Roxii, who had both stayed within the slowly tightening formation. He would place one of his gloved hands on each of their shoulders and cloak them in the shadows, camouflaging their presence for a brief few seconds to allow them to get a better position or charge up an attack. The process of the shadows cloaking them would feel as if they fell straight through the ground. With the cloaking process done he would reach for his daggers and follow Roxii's next lead.

What do I do, what do I do? I'm not a killer, not someone capable of killing other conscientious beings, not someone who can do so over and over and- Alaria's thoughts were interrupted by Riktos' tug on her arm as he helped her up from her seat and led her to the door of the tavern, his grip on her clothed arm gentle as she moved forward with him, barely aware of one foot moving in front of the other. There are so many people here who could do this job...but can I...? Alaria worried to herself, her forehead creased as her bright green eyes stared at the ground as the group moved through Sanctuary, pushing through the bustling people in the city's markets. The young lizard-elf hybrid remained like that as they departed from the city, exiting through the gate to Sanctuary before they marched to the forest, traveling for what felt like a few seconds. A nudge from the large, towering man is what broke Alaria out of her reverie, causing her to look up at him with a confused expression on her face.

"Is everything oka-?" The woman began, her worry shifting from her capabilities to Riktos' sudden shift in stance and personality. However, her questioning statement was interrupted by the sudden presence of howls in the air, catching the green-haired female off guard. It was then that she noticed the tree-like woman nearby, apparently attempting to begin conversation with her and Riktos. Alaria was about to speak once more until the presence of the wolves became much more prominent than beforehand; an entire pack of them appeared from different sides of the forest, and they were much larger than normal wolves, which led her to believe that they were only part wolf. Alaria narrowed her eyes at the twisted beings, her mind much more sound now that there were lives in danger. While they weren't all that large, there were many of them, and the number is what provided the threat. Riktos stood in front of Alaria once more, as well as a human female who was rather close to them as well, prepared to fight off any canine-humans that approached them. His protectiveness warmed Alaria's heart, but she wanted to help as well.

Two wolves had already advanced towards Riktos, attacking him with fang and claw, but he was not the only one to be approached with such danger - the ice elf was attacked first, crying out in pain when he was unable to fully deflect the attack of the wolf closest to him. The rabbit beastkin was also attacked and quite frightened by the presence of the large monsters, fleeing into a tree in response to one of the canines' advances towards her. Her companion, though, who was quite remarkable in appearance, made to protect her by acting out what appeared to be very rash decisions. He gained the attention of multiple wolves after vanquishing the one closest to his ally in a most curious manner, then proceeded to draw their gazes with his words of offense in order to allow the rest of the group openings for attack. As Soma did so, Alaria was startled by Riktos' transformation into a creature of the forest, a bear. It was not perturbing in any manner, simply intriguing and awe-inspiring, which also reminded Alaria of her own abilities.

The green-haired female closed her eyes and inhaled deeply, focusing on her reptilian half as she allowed her external skin to break open, permitting the rich green scales to emerge and protect the soft flesh beneath them. Her scales coated her entire body, including her hands and face, which were revealed due to the lowered hood Alaria wore and her lack of gloves or gauntlets. She used this bareness to her advantage, though, as she reached out a hand towards the wolves that Soma had grabbed the attention of and Crow had incapacitated with his bombs, causing the ground to rumble slightly and vines to burst from below, grabbing ahold of the limbs of the werewolves and pulling them to the ground, burying their fore- and hind-legs, immobilizing them before the sand rat. After doing so, she pulled her bow from her back and aimed for the wolf that had been nicked by Riktos' sword, her arrowhead directed towards the eye of the wolf. It hit with precision, but since the use of her magic to transform and utilize nature as a weapon had taken some of her energy and time, she was seen as a threat and a wolf came at her from behind, wrapping its jaws around the female's cloth-bound leg, hitting the scales that coated her skin and digging into them, leaving faint marks on her skin as they managed to pierce a few of her scales. The injuries were minor however, and due to the close proximity of the wolf, she was able to use her hunting knife to cut through the jugular of the werewolf, spreading his blood over her clothing as it fell to the ground.

Alaria had been forced to deal with aggressive creatures before when she lived in the forest with her parents and after they left her, so these wolves didn't cause her to lose her cool as killing another conscious being would. Alaria leapt onto the back of Riktos, who was now a very angry bear, and murmured softly to him, "Thank you for helping me," before she reached behind her and pulled another arrow from her quiver, aiming it at the wolf that had attacked the ice elf previously. Her leg bled slightly, but not enough to bring her any worry, especially as her body began repairing the wounds as soon as she had obtained them. Her arrow hit the wolf in its side, significantly weakening it compared to the deflected attack attempted by the ice elf Dakul, but did not kill it entirely. She was sure that he could finish it off at that point, and that later on she or one of the others could heal him and bring him comfort.

Werewolves Remaining: 8 with most suffering various degrees of injury from minor to serious.

The Sand rats taunts could be heard, and while at first they were annoying to the werewolves, it was quickly realized. He was quick on his feet, and they wouldn't catch him blindly. Besides the beasts were hungry, and they wanted to eat now, their most recent meal had hardly satiated them. Looking at the group they could easily pick out which ones were immobile. The first was easily Ryan the bunny girl. Hiding in a tree to paralyzed by fear to do anything more then shake, she was alone and un-moving. Two wolves broke from the pack, and quickly closed the distance in a mere two seconds. One of the two wolves boosted the other up into the tree in a single bound, and he landed on the branch she was hiding on. The thick branch was more then wide and strong enough to support both their weight, and the werewolf just grinned with a blood stained muzzle. The beast retracted his claws so that they glimmered violently in red, soon to be stained with lagomorph blood. The werewolf then leaped at the girl, slashing his claws in all direction violently, if the bunny girl did not move she would be surely be torn to ribbons.

The next target of the werewolves was Morgrim. He looked slow, which he was, and stunk as if he was already on the verge of death. The smell may have made him less appetizing of a target to the beast, but thinning the numbers of the humans and elves and beastkin only spelled good for them. Three beasts approached him, and made intimidating displays, but Morgrim was unfazed. In his home their were far more terrible beasts, creatures he had to kill before he was even a teenager. When they jumped at him he quickly breathed a cloud of poisonous gas, small enough to only get in the way of the three werewolves in front of him. They recoiled at the smell and how hard it was to breath, but at the end of it they only looked more pissed off, well at least until Morgrim quickly lit a torch. He swiped the torch across the visible fumes of death, and it sparked and lit up. Flames roared like a dragon as it engulfed the three wolf creatures, charring their fur, and getting in the lungs from the gases they breath it. Wolf like howls of pain echoed through the forest floor, but they were not dead yet, just seriously harmed. The beasts wouldn't live past the night with wounds like those, but they swear they would rip the throats of all the heroes before the breathed their last breath. So one of the beasts lunged at him again with claws extended, and Morgrim could only said "Oh crap." as one of them lashed across his chest, and drew foul blood and puss from his body. He did not make a single noise though, not even a whimper as he chest was torn open, and blood and bone revealed. Instead Morgrim quickly grabbed two of his bone daggers and slashed at the beast, cutting up his throat, gouging out his eyes, and finally driving the dagger down into his skull to which his body finally slumped down in the dirt. That's one more dead.

The other two charred wolves, could barely see or hear through the pain, but the bear man was easily big and loud enough so that they could still detect him. They were hurt, but still not weak, and with how harmed they were they became unparalleled in how ferocious they were. They lunged at him, and the girl on his back, and so help them the only thing that would stop them from digging their claws and teeth into flesh would be their deaths. The bear man, and the lizard girl would have to be incredibly quick to get out of that attack unscathed. Though it wouldn't be hard to end those two werewolves misery though as they were already hacking up blood, and flesh and fur were falling from their bodies, too burned up to even retain its form.

As for the rest of the wolves they teamed up on the ones that thought they were stealthy enough to evade them. Crow, Jazebel, and Dakul. To the eye they may have been invisible, and visually they were adequately camouflaged, but the beasts had incredible smell, strong enough to smell anyone and anything from kilometers away. They took advantage of it, and charged all three of them. Four werewolves, for three heroes, they at least had the numbers advantage. It may be difficult for them to see them though still and could not rely on their sight, but they could still blindly slash and hack apart in all directions where the smell was coming from, and so they did. The werewolves breath angry grunts as their attacks missed, but for any attacks that land they would howl in victory as their aim strikes true, the battle looked intense, but the group was winning that much was for sure.

Riktos is yelling and- "Ohoho whoooaa," says Jezebel in awe. One bear and multiple werewolf smack-down. Teeth and claws are everywhere. It's a shame that the fur on the bear is getting ruined by blood and probably by the end of this, half of the more brutal members of the group will be covered in blood.

Jezebel is all over the place but sticks closer to her side of the group. She's vaulting over beasts and dodging claws and teeth. She's not a killer by heart so tactful support will do. Jezebel amplifies her combat with pressurized air to catapult the beasts close or away from the angry bear, ensuring a more secured advantage for the bloody animal fight. It isn't much but it's like controlling the flow of battle from their part of the group.

The monk, whenever she's aerial, takes the time to survey how the others are doing. It's a mess, really. The newly formed group has a few types who prefer to work alone, which isn't their fault. Morgrim has a lot of work on his hands if he wants a large group like this to cooperate together and 'save the world' but from what little she's experienced so far, it will work out. Somehow. Speaking of the guide.... there's fire- and a werewolf lashes out at him. The smell of rotting flesh seems to increase which could possibly knock out the werewolves, if not Jezebel herself.

Gods the banter coming from the other side of their circle.

Unlike the more silent fighters of the group like that assassin and big hat boy, she hears some rather confident taunts for the other side. The thief and his cute rabbit companion did seem to know each other since the tavern but Jezebel didn't take notice until now. The bunny is up in the trees while the thief is slashing away. Soma's loud taunts could even be heard above the animal noises. She almost feels sorry that Ryan has to manage such a man but Jezebel does wonder how the two ended up together.

With the thief' taunting, he's gaining more werewolves.

Not fair.

Jezebel retreats farther up high with the help of jumping off a werewolf, when she spots Crow's bombs. She floats back down when it was clear, humming in approval at the handy work. Those three really work well together.

One werewolf- one of the four who seems to be focused on her, Crow and Dakul- is ferociously attacking her in hopes to maim her in one hit. It kind of looked like a large animal trying to catch a fly but Jezebel, feeling confident after seeing her group, plays with the werewolf a bit. She jabs at a few pressure points to have it keel over for a second, then recover.

Alaria's display of magic gives an even stronger advantage to the events that have occurred. When the hybrid gets attacked, Jezebel is distracted, wondering if she should come to her aid. The werewolf that the monks been fooling around with slams Jezebel into the forest ground, cracking the dirt beneath. She rolls in time before she's finished off and flips back into the protection of her group.

That's going to leave a nasty bruise. Crow and Dakul have a good formation with Roxii, so they can take care of it.

The layer of air that protects her almost thinned out completely from that move. She got lucky.

Jezebel coughs, looking up to see Alaria mounted on top of Riktos like a tribal warrior. She catches her breath, moving closer to Nissinah. This will be over soon with how most of the werewolves are immobile.

Over the pounding of her own heart, Ryan heard Soma call to her. She had watched how he had so easily put one of the beasts down, and now he ran forward to join the others in defense on the front lines. Child's play he had said, seeming to have found the terrifying opponent...not to be so. Encouraged by his words, she drew in a deep breath and twirled her spear into a better position in her small hand. He hadn't finished the werewolf off, so it was her chance to contribute somehow to the fight. So she crouched on her branch, ready to drop the blade of her spear into its ugly head--

Suddenly the branch shook and she turned to face a 'wolf, its hungry eyes on her. "No," she gasped quietly. There wasn't a lot of mobility options on a single branch.. Luckily she was in a tree full of them. Very uninterested in joining the rest against a dozen other 'wolves, she jumped up as the beast pounced at her. Her gloves made it easy for her to swing herself onto the next branch up, her biggest concern maneuvering the spear about the twigs and branches as well. She stopped on that branch, taking just a moment to gather herself before dropping back down to face the werewolf again. If Soma could do it, she could do it.

Its fur bristled in irritation as its easy target turned out not to be so easy, and Ryan knocked his muzzle away with the end of her spear as it snapped at her. She stepped back carefully, her poise making for perfect balance as she put another step between the two them. She was still shaking with fear, but it was a fight or die moment and her adrenaline was beginning to rush. She jabbed the spear at the beast's skull, and followed its movements as it tried to dodge away, giving it a gash over its eye. The wound only seemed to enrage the beast, however, and it snarled at Ryan, sending a new wave of fear over her--and with Soma occupied, she wouldn't be saved if she messed up now.

The werewolf lunged again, but this time Ryan rolled forward over the branch--nearly tipping off as she rose to her feet again. As they both landed on their feet, the beast stepped at her-- And Ryan plunged forward with her spear, driving it hard up through its mouth and into its head. She gasped at her strength as it barely cried out before slowly dying on her spear. The rabbit girl pulled away, tilting as she nearly stumbled off the branch again, her large brown eyes staring as the 'wolf's limp body slid out of the tree. She was tense, but slowly she came to, her ears and nose starting to twitch as she regrounded in the real world.

There was another--Soma left it alive for her to finish off. "Oh," she said, turning to look down at the fight again. She had struggled with one, but her new companions were handling even more. Regardless, shame burned her fair cheeks--she would have hid away in the tree if she could. Scowling at herself, and looked to the beast Soma had injured. Without another thought, she dropped down, the spear stabbing through its head and into the forest floor as she landed on its back.

Marie Silverton
The vampire reaches for her ears when she heard the guttoral howls. "Werewolves, what a delightful family friend," she said as the snake on her satchel slithered to her wrists and the other took position. "Alright ladies, take a bite," Marie ran forward and launched herself onto the back of her bear friend, just behind Alaria, with a small push off the fur and a very well executed turn in mid air, she pulled out her hidden dagger. Marie launched it straight under the wolf's head, to it's soft plushy neck.
It released a guttoral growl before dropping to the ground.

"Oh if daddy could see me now, he'd be so proud of his little girl," her black hood fell down, leaving her bright white hair to be revealed and her face along with it. She whipped around, her eyes on the one called Soma and Riktos. Then a bunny took one out but others were still there. "Chatty aren't you?" She leaped over Soma's head, her snake on her wrist leaping out and biting the wolf's neck. It howled and reared back, the poison burning at it's throat as the snake buried inside, its metal body tearing through it's skin. In a matter of seconds it appeared on the otherside, a huge hole from the left to it's right side of it's neck.

"Come," she whipped around and the the snake launched back onto her right wrist, the metal snakes now on guard as they secured themselves comfortably and ready to strike. The vampire's white hair contrasted greatly to her all black cloak and her pale skin made it seem like she was glowing. Marie positioned herself inwards, behind the first line of people, the snake from her left wrist slithered to her foot, her dagger coated in the wolf's blood wrapped in it's tail. "Thank you little one," she knelt down picking up the dagger and the snake along with it.

The bear had a person on his back. The voice in his head told him this was a good person though. Strange, strange people, all running around, shouting at eachother, shouting in general, that kinda thing. He'd been in similar situations before, with people yelling at him, and the bear did not like that very much. The werewolves were angry too, and they were doing just as much yelling as the people. The bear decided to start yelling too.

"BRRRRAARRRRRRRRGHH"

As the bear swatted another wolf to the side with a long, hairy appendage with the thickness of a tree trunk, two more came barreling towards it. Charging a bear was not a smart idea. Charging an angry bear even less so. Rearing up on its hind legs, the bear let out another deafening roar, daring its attackers to continue. They did. One werewolf lunged towards his leg, the other went for his throat. A long, low growl resonated from within the bears bones, and it dropped, wrapping a massive paw around the latter wolf. The bear felt the teeth of the other sink into its ankle, but it was too angry to care at the moment.

The wolf clawed and yelped, realizing too late its folly. The stench of something burnt filled the bears nostrils as the wolf struggled in its grasp, the others bite tightening. The wolf slipped a few times, but the bear was on it, its superior strength wrenching the poor lycanthrope back. The bear worked its arm under the wolfs neck, then reared back on its hind legs. With a sudden jerk, the snapping of a spinal cord was heard, and the wolf struggled no more. Dropping its deceased combatant, the bear turned its attention to the other, which had also realized too late that one does not simply charge an angry bear. The bear's jaws snapped shut on the wolfs neck and wrenched from side to side. The wolf let go of its own deathgrip as it was shaken like a rag doll, blood and fur coming off in clumps. The bear didn't stop though, and the more the wolf twitched, the more the bear shook.

Eventually the wolf lie dead. Its enemies bones shattered and their blood spilling out in pools, the bear decided it was done. Letting out a few disdainful snorts and a couple grunts, he turned away from the corpses he'd made. But wait a minute...

The bear turned back. Was it time to eat? WhO was he kidding, it was always time to eat. Gonna go eat... But there was still fighting. What, no there wasnt. Time to eat. The bear stumped back over to the corpse of the most recently downed wolf. The voice in its head said it wasnt time to eat, it was time to move. The bear turned back around, a confused expression on its face. Who would it follow? "There" the voice said, "the dead man." But what business did the bear have following the dead man? Looking from the dead werewolf to the dead man again, the bear decided it could have the best of both worlds. He picked up the wolf in his mouth, and simply carried it along as he followed the dead man. The wolf's toung hung out, and its head dragged on the ground, but the bear didn't mind. When the dead man stopped, it was time for third lunch.

Eleniel

This certainly was a very odd group, to say the very least. A melting pot of all sorts of races, beliefs, and behaviors. It was a little overwhelming for someone that hasnt traveled in a group since her people were alive. Traveling alone seemed like the norm these days. Some people in the group, were stranger than others. Races and magic that she has never heard of. The world was changing and so were its people inhabiting it. Traveling alone and avoiding civilization did have its surprises once you came back to others that live in this world, and she knew nothing about these people. A large, bear of a man shot out of his seat, claiming we begin the journey now. He had a lot of enthusiasm that, along with his large body, made the silver elf take a step back, a precaution to take so she wouldnt get trampled by him. More words were spoken at the table that seemed so small for the amount of people gathered around it. Silent and patient, she just waited, and waited, and waited some more. Until finally, the dead guide called the start of the journey, and seeing as how Eleniel was already standing, she waited for the others to get up and get a move on before she did. Lingering in the back once more, she tailed the large group, a couple feet away from the rest. Once they exited the pub, the traveling pack gained a lot of attention, unwanted attention. Eleniel never liked pubs, they were savage and dirty, but she did have to admit that the men in those places have often seen a lot, and in return stuck to their own business when it comes to strangers. But the people of Landfall had no shame in staring down into the eyes of a noticeable stranger. No, they didnt appreciate outsiders. But they werent stupid, she had to give them that, she knew none of them dared to confront an outsider, she didnt worry. She just looked down on them, and prayed to the stars asking what diety could have possibly taken the time to create and bring such creatures into the world. The stuck up elf scoffed through her nose, and turned her head forward, beginning to pay them no mind.

A strange, looming presence stuck out over the others as it approached her. Like a heavy cloud of grief and sorrow. "Who are you, child of the stars, and why have you come to join so many of the dark?" The presence spoke to her.

Eleniel turned her head to the side, unable to use peripheral vision due to her hood. Beside her was a woman, her hair touched by flame, and a long, etheral, white dress. She had a number of scars and abraisons scattered over her body, whuch made her look like a haunting, restless soul. Her body emitted darkness, like many of the others she accompanied, making Eleniel immediately put up her guard. The dark and the light never got along, let alone approach eachother with questions. Eleniel raised an eyebrow at the woman and her question, before facing forward again, "I was called upon for help, so I came," she stated simply, ignoring the first part of the red woman's question. But there was more to it than that. She felt compelled to go with the invitation and took it as a sign from the stars and moon above. Who was she? That was a personal question. Even so, the mysterious woman seemed to know what she was. Child of the stars. A description only used by those that know of the Eldar, or have lived long enough to live at the same time as they did. "Despite my..." the elf paused and looked at the mismatched group before continuing, "distaste for the dark and everything that follows it," she gave a side eye to the woman then rolled her eyes back forward, "we share a common enemy, and that goes above my personal preference of who I choose to affiliate with." Her icy voice explained frankly before realizing why she was explaining anything to a complete stranger at all. A little bothered by her stupidity, she sighed and scowled, "Anymore questions?" she asked with harsh sarcasm, turning her head fully now. Vibrant, violet eyes stared at the woman from under the shadow casted by the hood.

The caravan of people treaded into the large forest that surrounded Landfall. The density of the air shifted slightly, and even the sun grew dim thanks to the green canopy overhead. Eleniel felt most comfortable in the greenery. She grew up in it, learned from it, and learned to live off of it. She knew how to read the winds, track creatures, and memorized what flora is edible for consumption, or useable for medicine. She spent centuries roaming the forests and mapping the rivers with in. Time passed as they hiked. The members took this time to get to know one another better, something Eleniel didnt really bother doing. She wasnt there to make friends, only to complete the task at hand.

A malicious presence entered the proximity of her light's sensitive range. Her eyes scanned the wood and leaves around them. Instinct took over, her steps became lighter, her hand slowly and quietly reached for the bow on her back, and an arrow from her quiver. "Nauro..." she muttered in her native tongue, the word for werewolf. On queue the wolves revealed themselves to the group. "Everybody watch each others backs, and do not break formation. If you break rank they will slip through our defense and kill us all. Let them attack first and counter!"

The Morgul* was right. Werewolves had good strategy despite their mental dullness, and worked well in groups, splitting up could end in carnage. One of the beasts was brave enough to attack first and suddenly the rest followed. Eleniel remained in the middle of the group with her long ranged weapon. Her arrow nocked and bow string taught, for searched for any stragglers. A common strategy for the wolves involved one attacking and keeping its enemy preoccupied while another sneaks around and attacks while the victim is distracted. And that was exactly what she watched for. There were a few who did that, as she expected and with out waiting for them to attempt an attack she loosed an arrow, propelled by the momentum of the strings force. It penetrated a few, killing them almost instantly, but some were so hostile and driven by rage they just shook it off.

The male thief fighting along side them spewed jabs and sarcasm every second the encounter went on. Eleniel's eyebrows furrowed, "For a thief youre not very silent," she commented brazenly. The constant speech distracted her, and began to annoy her.

One of the wolves, who had about two of her arrows in its back, had the large bear in its eyes. Eleniel wasted no time, seeing that the bear was already preoccupied with a number of them, she slung the chromed bow back onto her back and unsheathed her daggers instead. She raised a hand over her head and flung it to the wolf. The dagger spun in the air and lodged itself in the canine's side, puncturing a lung. It fell over, whining and Eleniel approached it. She yanked her blade out and the beast sprung to its feet. It swiped its claws, left and right, dodging each one in a deadly dance. When the moment came she stuck the blade into its chest, a loud roar or agony emerged from the wolf before it fell to its knees and shivered with the lose of blood.

When Eleniel looked around, the pack had been demolished with the help of everyone else. The bear carried of the carcasses in its mouth, making Eleniel grimace, 'Disgusting...that thing must be flea ridden...'

The bear-man seemed very nice to Nissinah. Unlike the other people she had run into in the city so far, he did not look at her with suspicion or intrigue. He'd even met others of her kind, how interesting. The reptile-elf seemed very quiet, though. Nissinah was unable to get a read on her quite yet, not that she was good at reading people, anyway. Animals were easy, but people took a bit more work. At least Riktos had an animalistic side that made the bear in him easier to read, at least.

The dryad kept up casual conversation on the way out of the city, snickering to herself a bit at the guard's relieved reaction to their exit. She visibly relaxed the farther from the city they got and by the time they entered the cool shelter of the trees, the leaves that protruded form her body had fully relaxed, uncurling from their tense position pressed up against her bark-like skin. The walk through the dense trees was uneventful for the first hour or so, save for the small talk among the group and the occasional creature that crossed their path or hopped along in the trees above them to watch them go. After the hour passed, however, the creatures were oddly absent. In fact, the only ones they encountered were running in the opposite direction, completely ignoring the travelers. Nissinah tensed again as she heard the word 'monsters' repeated several times by many tittering voices as the forest dwellers fled from whatever it was that was now approaching the party.

Nissinah turned to warn the bear-man and the reptile-woman, but she was cut short by the guttural howling from all around them. She recognized the call of werewolves, having had to chase off a few packs from her forest in her time. She had never seen a pack this large or this vicious before, though. They had just finished a hunt, made obvious by the blood flying in saliva-laced strings from their snarling mouths. The beasts attacked as one, hoping to tear the party to shreds. The cryomancer, whom Nissinah had learned was named Dakul, narrowly fended off an attack with an ill-formed ice spell and started incanting another, but Nissinah was distracted by the werewolves that were targeting her section of the group and didn't see what the frost elf had down. She felt a sudden ripple of bestial power beside her and turned to see Riktos rapidly transform from a bear-like man to an actual bear, easily fighting off a pair of werewolves before the reptile-elf jumped on his back, continuing her own fight from there.

The druid turned back in time to narrowly avoid a slash to her chest by the iron claws of another werewolf. she growled, the tenor much lower than her normal voice as it vibrated through her wooden form. She stretched out her hand and thick, woody vines sprouted from her twig-like fingers. The vines lashed out and wrapped around the beast, sprouting abnormally large thorns that pierced the wolf's thick hide as the vines tightened and grew over its form. Large buds popped up along the vines, bursting into vibrant pink roses along their length. Nissinah jerked her hand and the thorns grew even larger, each becoming almost six inches in length, piercing the wolf further and causing blood to pour down its body, staining pink petals crimson.

The vines detached from Nissinah's hands and new twig-fingers grew back in their place in time for the dryad to turn on another werewolf that was rapidly approaching. She wasn't as lucky with this one, which raked its claws across her chest, leaving deep gouges in the wood and eliciting a shriek of alarm from Della. Nissinah reeled backward from the blow, but before she could recover and return the blow, the giant furry form of Riktos barreled into it. The bear didn't seem to notice her, lost in its battle rage as it moved on to others. Nissinah made a mental note to thank the man later.

The pack rapidly dwindled under the onslaught from the party, even their rotting guide was holding his own despite a serious wound to his chest. Nissinah herself managed to take out another two of the beasts with a cloud of poisonous spores from a purple flower as wide around as she was. Their bodies broke out in large hives which burst, spilling blood and puss over the ground as they thrashed in pain. One managed to give her another slash down her left arm before collapsing to the ground, bloody foam spreading from it's mouth.

Dakul avoided another slash from the werewolf with the head of his staff, rapidly incanting a spell as it swung up to swipe the beast's arm off course. The blue-white glow of his magic flared to life at the crook in his staff and a more powerful burst of condensed ether than the last shot forward, point blank, into the werewolf's chest. This time the spell had the weight he'd intended behind it and the spell solidified on contact with the beast's chest and burst into dozens of icy spikes that drove themselves into the werewolf's tough flesh. The wolf flew backward with the force of the blow, hitting a tree and falling limp to the ground, the icy protruding from its chest dripping watery blood.

Dakul felt adrenaline flood his veins and rounded on another one of the beasts that was harrying the Eldar that had moved herself to the center of the group and was picking the beasts off with her bow. He incanted another spell pulling ether from the air and warping it into a frozen facsimile of the beast between it and the light elf. The icy creature swiped at the real one with claws twice the length of its twin and sliced its chest to ribbons, sending a trail of blood through the air. The real werewolf let out a snarl and bit into the ice double's shoulder, recoiling at the sudden cold. The construct returned the favor, digging icy fangs into its brother's neck and tearing out a chunk of flesh. The wolf dropped to the ground and the construct melted away, mixing with the blood spreading out from the shredded corpse.

Dakul panted heavily. Creating a construct that large had taken quite a bit of energy, he wouldn't be able to repeat it, but thankfully the others seemed to be taking care of the remaining wolves. The vampire noblewoman dashed past him, launching herself off the bear man's--no just bear--back and the green haired elf riding him and flinging. a dagger into the wolf's throat, downing it quickly. Dakul was impressed by the others' skills in battle even the rabbit was able to take out some of the pack. Maybe they would be able to pull this mission off after all.

A gloved hand clasping his shoulder nearly made him jump right out of his pale skin, but he felt the presence of the wolf-elf and Crow beside him, managing to process it mere seconds before he felt a shadowy force wash over him,
making his body feel like it was sinking right into the dirt below him. He looked down at himself, expecting to see his legs sinking into the ground, but instead saw his body camouflaged in a veil of shadow. He grinned and looked back up at the werewolves that approached their group, sniffing madly and swiping blindly for their invisible prey. Dakul still felt tired out form producing his construct, but he managed to grab a few more threads of ether from the air and incant another spell that sent a barrage of icy daggers into the throat of one of the beasts assailing them. The invisibility lasted only a few seconds more, but when it faded he turned to Crow and grinned at the boy.

With the efforts of all the group working in teams they managed to pull through it. Though it was nothing to brag about, they had the numbers on their side, and their wits about them. The beasts were nothing more than pack animals. Greater challenges would be assured to follow this, and it may not go as well. The group was lucky to only suffer from bites and scratches. The now bloodied remains of the wolf pack would be sure to remember that as it was their last memories. Morgrim stepped over a few werewolf carcasses, and took the helm of the group once more.

"Well I would say that went fairly well." He said, even though as he spoke blood and puss was oozing out of his chest at what looked like an alarming rate, but he was completely unfazed by it.

In fact anyone who dared to look into the gaping wound would see a sphere of blackness nuzzled in his rib cage, the only off colouring in the object being the blood from his own body. He doubted a single one of them would have known what it was, but he would be happy to answer any questions should they come up. Still though he didn't want to go showing off his insides to all of them, especially since they just met that day, so he reaches for a canteen secured around his waist. He took a swig of the liquid, and then poured it on his chest. The wounds quickly began to meld together, and close. He took one more moment to appraise the entire group, looking over each member, and noticing some look far worse for wear than others. After all he may be their teacher now, but he was still training them to be killers of a sort.

"I know some of you may be feeling proud, maybe some of you are feeling scared, but I will be honest with you, this is only the beginning, and considering what we will be going up against this was just child's play. Do not let this get to your head." Not his most rousing speech, but it was as good a piece of advice as any. "I suggest we continue the trek for a few more hours until we aren't anywhere near this site, and then set up camp. Don't want to be sleeping near corpses or else the smell will just attract braver and more menacing monsters."

Morgrim taking the lead drove them North towards the city, the city was still a good day and a half away now, but he was sure the time would fly by. After all they had plenty of company and ground to cover. Morgrim currently was mostly interested in Dakul the cryomancer elf. He held pretty well in the fight, and he was somebody that obviously knew a lot about and cared about magic, perhaps they could share notes, and talk about studies they had. The thought excited him quite a bit, after all he hadn't had a chance to talk about magic with anyone since his youth. The thought quickly turned sour though as it just reminded him of home, of the friend that he lost. Still though he would move past it. He approached the cryomancer and gave him a pat on the back, oblivious to how much his wounds must be hurting him.

"Ahh Dakul I hope you don't mind my intrusion, but you and I are of a strange breed here, people fully devoted to the craft of magic, and studying the ether. I would like if you and I discuss what we know to each other, perhaps we could learn some interesting things." He offered to the Elf. "Let's discuss it on the way." Morgrim said, as he lead the group with the elf by his side. "Tell me what you've discovered in your years of studying the craft."

Previously...

Thomas' head turned to his side at the curiosity of the female's intrigue by him. To anyone else, it would have been a simple question, a nice concerning conversation between two humans. In the priest's defense, he himself was not sure of the answer. What perplexed him most, alas, was why the female was wearing such a heavy garb over her face in the middle of the day? She seemed so pale too, or as far as the priest could tell. She was not human, at least Thomas could only assume as much. Nobody else in the party rather appeared to be so, not that it had any bearing on the character of the crew among them. If he were the layman, it would be of great strife to him, but no humans dared resisted the Silver Legion. And so he was left to assume her to be a daywalker of sorts, a vampire or a lycan. But he had gotten ahead of himself. The priest shot the woman the nicest glare he could manage in his dilemma, seeing that Morgrim had taken no mind to his dedication to the cause. So alas he had to make friends elsewhere.

"I find that my place is where it is needed most," Thomas said warmly, eying the female's robe with specific intrigue. He wondered where it had come from, and who could have made such a fine piece. Although, beauty could just have been in the eye of the beholder, given that he had not caught up with the current fashion trends of the layman. For all he knew, it could've been a terrible robe. "You seem intriguing to me. I do very much appreciate your kind words, but with all due respect I do hope I have no need to practice my craft on you in the coming days. May the Divine give you strength in the war to come." The priest turned aside from her at that, and followed the train into the dark forest. With each step they neared certain danger, and in the viewpoint of Thomas, so too did they near the trials to come.

In the present moment

The sound of howls filling the air quickly brought shivers down the priest's spine. Surely it was only natural to fear the unseen, and although danger was sensed it was indeed his duty to see to the welfare of the others who would do the actual fighting. It was a shameful thing to admit, but the feral werewolves brought Thomas great fear. The thought of being ripped to shreds terrified him, even if it were the will of those above. Many say that those who were just bitten lose all semblance of their former selves, becoming so feral and so mindless they can no longer even be considered human. They were creatures that no true God would dare find innocent. The battle commenced quickly, the pack descending on the party. All around the priest people engaged in combat for their lives, fighting either in tandem or on their own. The man in robes seemed too poor of a target to choose, and for that, he was lucky.

The priest's fearful eyes relocated to the female he had conversed briefly with earlier. The human-looking non-human, the one who was so kind as to at least acknoledge his presence, she now fought with three other women, ones he had not gotten to know yet. However, out of the four she was easily the most impressive. Her movements were fluid, almost preplanned. She knew when and where to jump, how to land, how to kill. It seemed more than human indeed, as it all seemed too quick. Her white hair glistened like that of an old lady, yet she seemed rather youthful in her actions. And suddenly the priest realized he had been staring for far too long, and quickly looked away. They were in a fight and it was absolutely bizarre to simply be watching the action unfold before him.

The thief turned and pressed his back against the vampiric female for a moment while they were locked in combat, "You'd be surprised how rowdy thieves are when they aren't on the job!" He yelled over the noises of combat and werewolves be torn asunder before Soma dove back into the fight, giving the short elf of light a wink when she commented on the fact that thieves are supposed to be quiet. Soma was truly having fun! He had never fought with this many people before but alas, it was over almost too soon and of course, the corpse had to go off and give some kind off pep talk yet again. The thief groaned and decided to take the zombie down a peg, "Merciful Goddess of the Sands, shut up already zombie. This isn't any of our first fights and if you are going to be giving speeches after every battle, I'm going steal your toes."

"Now, if you will excuse me, there is a certain student of mine that I must go educate."
Soma stepped over the abundance of lycanthrope corpses as he made his way to the seemingly crestfallen Ryanna. He smiled warmly and looked as if he was going to embrace her before suddenly bringing his armored fist down on her head. It wasn't full force but it was certainly meant to hurt, "Idiot! How many times must you have a brush with death before you understand?! Keep. Your. Composure. We rogues are NOTHING without it!" The ice blue eyes of the foreigner hot with anger. Though that anger was short lived as he dropped his unarmored hand atop the spot he just hit and rubbed it, ruffling her hair a bit. "Stop worrying me so much Ray. I'm fast but I'm not a God. I won't always be there...."

"Still, you did a good job in the tree. Even if you looked like you were gonna cry."
The master thief gave her an affectionate smile and pulled her into a one-armed hug for a moment before returning to his natural self and stepping back into the group, gesturing for her to follow with a nod of his head.

Ryan had turned from her second kill, ready to join the others even if she remained anxious... And found that they had finished up. Her brown eyes immediately found Soma, attentive as she looked him up and down. Was he hurt? Her breathing slowed finally as she realized that no, no he wasn't. In fact, he was snipping at the undead leader of the small party again. Rolling her eyes, she tuned his obnoxiousness out to flick the blood off her blade. It wasn't perfect, but it would have to do until they reached water. She slipped it away snuggly across her back as Soma approached her.

Her ears swiveled toward him and she returned the smile as they both took comfort in the other's saftey-- Then he hit her. "Ow!" she whined, holding her head. She opened her mouth to yell at him as tears stung at her eyes at the sharp pain, but the anger in his caused her to retreat instead, her ears flat against her head. She felt her cheeks warm in embarrassment and shame. She hated making Soma angry and she hated making him worry and she hated messing up so badly. He was only here at all because of her. "Sorry," she said quietly as he pet at her soft blonde locks.

"I wasn't going to cry!" she snapped at him as they embraced. And although she was pouting, her hand grasped at the cloth of his clothes for a moment as he stepped away. "I had it completely under control," she continued, her usual pride returning and her shoulders straightening. She followed after him, still complaining. "I-I've just never seen a werewolf before so close before, okay? They're big! That's all."
