Personality: A quiet woman, Hui Hua has spent her entire time up in the mountains, away from the firebreathing dragons that she knows rampage over the desert. She is satisfied with her choice; her children have grown up hardy and strong and have gnashing teeth to bare against the horrors that only they seem to know lie in wait in the dark trees and tall mountains. Hui Hua prides herself in raising daughters that can beat a man in aim and sons that will bow to whoever is better than them. She lives off of the earth and resents Crubia for forcing her to make room for the riders she has no love for.

Personality: Growing up on a mountain as the youngest child for most of her life, Ming Xia knows the place like the back of her hand. She knows what rocks point to where, what trees grow the best wood to be burned, what leaves are edible, and which areas are not to be touched unless she wants someone gone. Many in her family joke that she is a wolf before a human, always silent and aiming for a kill rather than a warning shot. She has been known to live by a brutal code of ethics; that the greater good must always be preserved. As such, Ming Xia has done some questionable deeds that have made her somewhat quiet and firm in her ways. If someone wishes to challenge her, they can. She'll attend the funeral.
One of the most pivotal moments in her life involved the darkest corners of the forest. She went in with a group of friends and crawled out the only one barely alive, wheezing and gasping and dying nonetheless. She has not spoken of the incident since, but it has caused her to grow as harsh as the cold winters they face. Her mother is greatly concerned for her and tends to visit her as often as she can, even though she has been living by herself since sixteen.

Personality: A rather humble man who does what is expected of him, Gui Ying is not someone to resist another's wishes terribly hard unless is crosses a line. He has been taught where he stands and the traditions of the land he walks on and as such, does not attempt to break said traditions. He cares for his family and friends deeply and honors those that have gone before him in their continuous quest to remain safe on the mountain. Difficult to irritate and a soothing presence, Gui Ying seems wise beyond his years. He does, however, love affection and enjoys having attention.
