Fandom MMOstuck [Skaian Route] [Chapter 7]

Dmitry & Sarah

The place was humid, and moist, and slick, and full of fucking moss and shrooms. Dmitry hated just standing around in such a place. But the faeries liked it for some reason and so he had to tolerate it for now.

London was standing guard at one end of the tunnel, scaring away any Faeries that got near. It had taken some effort to convince her not to squish them or rip off their wings; mainly because Dmitry himself wanted to do it. But it made Sarah upset so they both had to suck it up for now. Meanwhile, Mexico was at the other end, warding it off from any possible threats. He would have to take her on a walk later today, however. The doll hated being stuffed inside places and would much rather be outside in the wilderness.

Kyoto, Shangai, Russia and Orléans were all around him, just playing and talking. He had planned to leave them behind for this Quest but Orléans had protested and rallied the other three into getting Dmitry to bring them along; she liked it best when all the sisters were together. Nethie was the polar opposite of that, pouting in the corner at having been brought along. In her case Dmitry did HAVE to step in and get her to come. She was getting too friendly with that human male and she was too young for a matesprit.

Also her name was Netherlands, but it was too long and so she made herself a nickname. Dmitry didn't like it. His naming talent was superb.

Kaze was impatiently awaiting for the moment they would continue with the Quest so she would get to burn things down; even though her main purpose here was to provide illumination, heat, and scaring off Faeries with her fire. And she would continue to wait, too, until Greece was done with Sarah, with France at the girl's side giving encouragement and advice.

Dmitry found it fascinating how much his Majyyk was influencing his daughters. He had obviously made each one in reference to a different doll-related tradition or story on Earth, but he had only expected that to influence their Skills and abilities. However, it seemed to be doing much more than that. Greece, for example, was a reference to the tradition in ancient Greece to give dolls as an offering to Artemis, the human goddess of the hunt and, among other things, the protection and healing of female wrigglers. So of course she was the best suited to check up on Sarah's mind. So long as it was a young girl, Greece could heal body, mind and soul. But she also seemed to develop this religious devotion to Artemis, claiming to be her priest. She liked to talk good of deities Artemis had liked and of course insult those she hadn't. And given how some of the Denizens were named Dmitry had had to stop her on several occasions from marching off towards one of them.

He didn't trust the Denizens. Old or new.

Dmitry didn't trust almost everyone, for that matter.

The young Troll wasn't a brat just for the sake of being one. Leaving aside the fact it was his freaking right as a Juggalo, he also did it to scout out for possible allies.

Everyone liked to speak about unconditional love and loyalty and friendship and blah blah blah, but it was a pile of bullshit. There was nothing unconditional about it. People only liked other people when they fit their model of how they should behave. The moment they stepped out of line they were quick to denounce them as a bad friend, a jerk, a traitor and so much more. Dmitry had learned this from papa Payaso, the Grand Highblood himself, and that disgusting woman that had given birth to him just to make him a guinea pig.

No, rather than pretend to be someone he wasn't and try to get people to like him falsely, Dmitry preferred to make things direct and simple. It was hard for people to love, but easy for them to hate, which was why he thought Troll romance (and their society in general) was so much more superior to human one.

Dmitry had to deal with episodes of both inconceivable rage thanks to his blood, and pouts of depression from his human side. He hated the latter much more than the former. His rage he could at least turn into a Skill and quantify. He could now predict when the episodes came and basically control them. The latter, though? He had tried the same and it only got him the mockery Skill the Admin had given him, even if he had ultimately turned it around in his favor. Dmitry would much rather just say goodbye to all the fucking trauma from his development stages, though. It made it hard to fight at times and he had to rage even stronger than usual to keep balance.

Dmitry hated unbalance. He hated his ever shifting and unpredictable situation. That's why he hated and made others hate him. Rather than enter a relationship that would ultimately end in failure after one of his outbursts, he would much rather have a sincere one built on mutual dislike. It was a constant in this world of chaos.

So he didn't care if people disliked him or whatever. The only ones who had proved to be capable of truly unconditional love were the AI's and Sarah. Rubbie had been there for him since the start of this shit, in a way no one else ever had. No matter what he did or said, she had always been prepared to take his side and support him. His Earth self had experienced that from a couple of people, but never in such a kind way. Saving her from the pit AI's from failed parties were thrown into was a logical thing after all that. Turning her into Kyoto and freeing her from her fate had been the right thing too; the same with her sisters. Even more so than other AI's, his majyyk was making them develop faster into their own personas rather than clones with minor differences between each. And he was close to discovering how to get them fully severed from Skaia if need be.

He didn't care what anyone said. Dmitry took care of his REAL friends.

As for Sarah...well, it was just obvious for her wasn't it? The girl didn't know it yet but she subconsciously also thought Trolls (and by extension, Dmitry) were great. Why else would she have gotten those beautiful wings of hers? She said it was to give herself an edge but he knew she was just confused. Human Faerie stories were awful anyways. No, Sarah just had an inherent talent to detecting stuff that was cool and awesome. Her tastes were cool and awesome. And he was going to be one of her tastes!

...that came out wrong.

But what Dmitry couldn't forgive was whoever had done this to her. Greece had already detected and identified the problem. A memory block centered around that Aslin guy of all people. Dmitry couldn't imagine why that would be the case. Aslin wasn't that important to Sarah.

He wasn't.

He wasn't!

She would be a lot sadder if that was the case, wouldn't she? If it had been unconditional love, the block wouldn't matter; she would love him anyways. But she didn't and that was logical and fine and they would leave it at that!

Instead he wanted to focus on the fucker who had done this.

The Olive Troll? He was the most likely candidate. He reeked even worse than those of his caste ought to do, and had the means to do so. And by that he meant both the memory block AND the reek. That guy sucked.

The mutant? He hoped she was. It would give him an excuse to bash her face in. But if she did do it she probably did it because of the Heiress. She made no secret of her dislike for the Aslin human. It might have been a sort of measure to keep Sarah save. Not that it would save them, if it was.

As much as Dmitry liked this Heiress over the Condesce, his loyalty was ultimately to Sarah and himself and his daughters and maybe Sarah's kind of lusus and you know what? This list is getting too large.

The Sylph? He wouldn't be surprised. He couldn't see how no one else saw what a threat she was, going so far as to pretend to be mentally regressed at the Winter Party. What a farce. And these people thought themselves able to detect subterfuge?

The Denizens? Another possibility. Who knew what the pro-Freedom faction was planning. They might be using Sarah to get to Janus. If that was the case they were currently making them very happy no doubt. But it was a worthy risk.

After all, if Aslin was the only thing Sarah couldn't remember then what was the point of even removing the thing? She didn't need him to be great. Dmitry already knew she would be great. Aslin couldn't have been that important to her. He was just a guy that recognized the inherent logic and merit to Sarah being with Dmitry, which displayed a higher intelligence than he expected from humans. He also seemed to be like the Heiress, in that he would openly admit to dislike or be indifferent to Dmitry but still willing to make deals. That's what he called professionalism.

But if the sucker offed himself he couldn't have been that big of a deal. Dmitry was sure he would forget him soon anyways. He wasn't important to him or Sarah.

But at the very least for him, he would play a part in Sarah's coronation. The block made in his name would become the leash with which to reign in both the Faeries and the corrupted Spark. Then Dmitry wouldn't have to worry about freaking Dana, or anyone for that matter.

Yes, Sarah was going to make a great Faerie Queen. And once Dmitry finished his experiments, he would become a King worthy of her.

All that was left after this was looking for the Cherub...

Gungal

Believe it or not (not, most likely) Gungal did feel sad.

Whatever people thought, he didn't enjoy being a mercenary. He didn't enjoy lying, or fooling, or betraying or selling out. Okay, maybe he did a little, when it was because of a competition or in the name of getting a prize. But as a practice itself Gungal hated it.

But he had no option. Shauna was free to hold whatever she wanted against him; Gungal knew things weren't so simple. He wouldn't risk his only shot at a decent life just to appease the friendship fantasies of a girl who knew nothing of the world. Nothing of being branded for death from the moment of birth.

Oh, but how they pitied Devona for the very same damn thing. Gungal would've loved to see a royal step in to save him instead.

But no. Whatever. He didn't expect people to put in the effort to get to know his story. And that was fair. He wasn't going to do that for them either. And he was going to use them if he saw it fit. But hey, he at least didn't call them things or proclaim their evilness.

That's what he would miss about the young man. Even though Gungal had been wary of any possible betrayals from him, he had appreciated the effort put in to get his side of the story and give him a chance. He had planned to repay that. Even if they didn't believe him, Gungal didn't plan to be a nasty Game Master once he took control of the Session. He would be a nice and good one so long as there was no great threat directed at him.

Though there would likely be plenty.

That was his fate as a Lime Blood.

From day one, Gungal had been forced to lie and hide himself for safety's sake.

This wasn't new to him.

He didn't need to get others to understand him and his plans and his motivations.

And he wasn't new to people he had come to like dying off. From other people, from themselves, or from Gungal himself for learning too much about him.

He was glad Aslin hadn't drawn blood back then when he slapped him. Gungal would've hated having to kill him in front of Dana.

But whatever. He had at least left a gift for Gungal to use. One last piece. One last move. One last trump card.

Although he had all but accepted that people would assume and claim bad things about him, Gungal still hated when they did so by proxy. Everyone seemed eager to get Gran away from him. These people didn't seem to realize the AI had this little thing called agency, and freedom of choice. Yes, he had used his powers on Sapphira to get her to cooperate, but Gran had gone along willingly, even if the AI couldn't remember it anymore. That wasn't to say she liked doing it, but unlike his Party, Gungal had actually put in time to get to know her.

Nadira and Qwentyn could send him as many accusatory PM's as they wanted. HE had not waited until Gran had a face to begin befriending her.

Bunch of hypocrites.

Even now they liked to act as if Gran didn't want to be with him. As if she didn't choose to.

Though to be fair, had it not been for Aslin, she would likely have chosen to go back to Qwentyn.

That's why he called it a gift.

"Thank you, Aslin, for giving birth to ambition in Granitea's heart."

The AI had gotten sick of being an spectator who couldn't do anything.

Now? Now the girl wanted to use Gungal for her benefit and goals in the same way he wanted to use her.

For you see, he had asked her what she wanted to do after their reunion.

And you know what she responded?

"I want to become Skaia."

So thank you, Aslin.

Thank you so much.

Serena and Shauna's day began on a strange note. Serena was...annoyed by this, mostly. She didn't really know what to make of it; she'd been so out of it lately that she hadn't gotten the chance to do much or even meet her other self.

And when she did...well, it was underwhelming to say the least.

Serena was...weak after all. But...she wanted to do something to help. And she was going to! She grabbed her bag, heading over to the chemist troll they were working with. She talked to him. Said she wanted to help. He gave her a couple of herbs, told her they were medicinal and, "not in that way."

She found Ross. She followed him, and found Rhys and Eirwin. She helped.

She took a life, at least in her eyes...

Serena was surprised by it. It was...easier than she expected. She supposed she'd been mentally prepared for the possibility but...

She had to be stronger.

Yeah. Stronger. She was stronger now. And...she had a purpose. She wasn't going to help, at least not the way she originally thought. She didn't need to follow her other self around like a lost puppy, after all...

She was going to rip out Crocker Corp's claw-grip on Earth, even if she had to tear apart every stronghold brick by brick. For her father, for her family, for her world.

But she needed someone to teach her how to do it, first.

Serena spent several hours training with Eirwin, before finally tiring. She'd had a long day, and ended up falling asleep at Eirwin's place.

It was at this point that Shauna woke up.

With that out of the way, she began talking to Sapphira. There was a lot she had to get done before the final raid on Crocker Corp leading to the fight, although she had time for a short talk with her older sister, and she coordinated with the Item Team to clear out a lot of the inventory, even alchemizing a few new tools and giving the various support teams some new toys to play with, as well as a new pair of arms for Sapphira.

She then found out what had gone on with Nadira's Earth Self. In hopes of quickly rectifying the situation with the arm, she contacted a friend who was close to the situation.

At last, it was time to go. The final raid on MMO Con...

...

...

...

In the end, the convention plans went out with a whimper instead of a bang.

But at least the Condesce's plans were foiled. In the end, Shauna thought, that was really what mattered. It's why they went, after all.

Shauna knew that she could hold her head high as she went back home.

Allr ==> Do more cool-guy stuff.

As if you had to ask.

Your day starts with another bout of Defense... with a little offensive twist. You didn't wake up expecting to take down a cult with your ragtag team of what should be healers, but it went better than expected. Not to mention the reward made up for any grievances had over the mission.

A whole slew of skills and equipment to split between you and Ross. Having been made from his soul, you have a good idea of what exactly you need to give him to make sure his build gets better.

However, the reward only goes so far. It does net you some much needed boosts, but there were still other things you had in mind.

For instance, a combo skill to share with Ross. One that gives the two of you way more stat points than normal, and only for fighting near each other.

It's at this point news reaches you that Shauna's gone and gotten her earth self, Serena, into the game. As a Player, not...physically there.

With a little garnering of details, you manage to scrounge up an idea for a combo skill with her as well, involving your Time powers and her Breath ones.

It takes some time for your rewards to kick in, meaning you go on another another quest, this time with your least favorite R name person in the world, with your limited build. It all goes fine, however. No need to worry.

Once that is done, you head down to Earth, preparing for your upcoming fight with Finn. You do get a bit...waylayed on your way to the hotel, but nothing too major.

----------

Now it's time to switch perspectives.

----------

Ross ==>Earth stuff!

To start the day off, you shadow Rhys on his way to the tournament. Nothing creepy, you just want to make sure that if a fight breaks out, he has backup. You're glad you came along, as...well, it's Nadira. Her earthself is in some sort of trouble and you just have to help. You can't not help.

But first...you go confront your parents. You had a scenario in your head; you'd have a battle of words, and declare yourself as free from them. Then you'd fight for real, and they'd run off with their tails between their legs as you stood victorious. But this...you never wanted this. It...it just hurt, knowing how wrong everything turned out.

You try to bury yourself in the Diary once you get back, try to forget about what it was you did. It works, in a way. It's times like these that you are glad you made your choices, that you have people at your back to help when they can.

It's at that point Allr shows up, and you tell him and Aleks about the situation. Neither of you are too...held up on the situation. You all know how used to death you are. But, it serves a way to introduce Allr and Aleks. The two surprisingly hit it off.

Knowing you won't have to mediate anything, you head out to find the Earth Nadira, Tournesol. ...all there is to say about the situation is that you need to work on your consolation skills.

Then, the news comes. The fight is off, and it's time to retreat. You have to admit; this doesn't exactly sit well with you. So close to your fight with Finn, only to have to pull back. It's very...deflating. But regardless, you follow directions.

Status?

Still alive. All of them. Including the Earth counterparts.

Mission aborted. Our daughter-in-law told us. 74,63% chance of it being true.

It's true. They won't fight Finn just yet.

Figured. A pity. We would have liked to sort that out before the Diary was completed.

It's about to. Ross's determined to finish it; he's spending the whole night up decoding it. He's almost done.

And Dana?

Can feel her within it. She's close by, but not quite here. She won't get away this time.

Psyche? The Souls?

We can overpower them if need be. Don't think a trap's been laid.

Cover still unblown?

Cover still unblown.

Be prepared. End her if you can. Contain her if not. We can only offer mental and spiritual assistance.

Good enough. Reaction forecast still the same?

Still the same. If anything unexpected happens, report it. Look out for Riven. Try to study her before revealing yourself. She might have done something important to know.

Has Dana ever agreed to help her before?

No. But we must be repetitive.

We must be repetitive?

We must be repetitive.

Very well. Shall confirm if she got her help and report accordingly. If no report comes assume the worst.

We will surround the place with a dozen Coco's as precaution. But that's only for the physical diary. For the space Dana occupies, we have only one outlet we can use.

Understood. Will use it to the best of our ability.

Remember. Kill or contain.

Understood. Understood. Repetitiveness over?

Repetitiveness over. Good luck.

Let us do this then!

An exchange over in fractions of a second.

...I will see you soon.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

==> Diary: Be decoded in full at long last!

The reading of the command above fills you with great emotion and joy. It's only been some weeks since the project to decode the Diary began, but it feels like it's been around 2 years! Guess time DOESN'T fly by when you're having fun!

Anyways, the celebration shall wait for now. After patting himself on the back for a job well done (and receiving a couple spiritual ones from his inner souls; Coco claims she patted his pancreas) he immediately sets out to gather his friends and allies.

It's finally time for some answers:

Part 1

Part 2

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Well......it could have been worse?

Crap.

Crap crap crap! Shauna was starting to feel the panic she'd felt before when she'd been debating whether to go off and face Finn anyway...

Things were starting to crumble again. Like they always did! She needed to be strong after what happened with Coco and Dana and Blaire and...

Why did she promise Kimiko she could do it? She hadn't had the chance to even get settled back into the game when all of this happened...Shauna'd been hoping she might have had a day or two to prepare, and she thought she'd be able to get Dana's help...

But she couldn't bear to see Kimiko suffer anymore either! Or anyone else...Shauna couldn't let herself fall into despair when the others needed someone to be their foundation...

...Maybe...?

...Shauna smiled, the sleep fading from her eyes as things finally seemed to click for her. Maybe that was her role to play...how she could finally make a real difference

Shauna fought off exhaustion as she rushed to the nearest skill shop to purchase a bunch of stuff, and spent a massive chunk of the day blessing what she got.

[Absolution]. [Fighting Spirit][Inspiration][Kindling][Solar Flare][Believe in Me][Sanctuary][~Imagination~]. [Strong in the Real Way]. [I'm There For You], finally a combo she could be proud to call her own...

And to top it off?

Shauna got Sinless....No. Not good enough. She took it even further beyond the bounds of what was possible, [Beyond Infinity].

...It cost her most of the day, and about 1565 boondollars. Shauna stumbled back to the inn wearily, the excitement of her sudden rush of inspiration having faded back into sleepiness as the day dragged on. She wasn't done with her skills, not quite yet...she just had to save the rest for later. She had enough time left for Riven's thing...and to try to heal Kimiko...

...Even without Dana's help, it might just be possible. After all, it was her job to help Kimiko make it possible...that's what Shauna wanted all along.

Shauna flopped over onto what had been her bed for the last month and sent a PM to Riven, telling her that she was at the Inn and ready to go if anyone was willing to come collect her. She looked at the PM screen for a bit before hitting send.

...She did have one other one she needed to send to a person who until recently, she thought was irredeemable. (It's Gungal. She's PMing Gungal.)

Sender Username: [Serena Castle]

Purpose: So it turns out I've been the asshole here.

Message: So, I recently found out that a lot of the things I'd blamed you for and been really mad at you about were not, in any way, shape, or form, related to you. And that you've been turned into a scape goat of sorts.

...Yeah. I...guess it's time to eat crow here so here goes. I, Shauna Carris, owe you, Gungal...whatever your last name is, a formal apology. I'm sorry for getting mad at you over the stuff like Dana's diary, or Kimiko's memories, or the more recent supposed spying stuff, because uh...yeah. Turns out it wasn't you, and you weren't lying about that, and I feel like an enormous ass for jumping to conclusions like that.

You did an amazing job in Adelaide, by the way. I'm still laughing at Finn's stupid twitter feed...is he really that petty?

...Okay I know this comes off insincere, I know it's more than a little bit late for this, and I know you probably don't believe me...but I really am sorry for being so quick to judge you. I hope in the future we might be able to be friends? For real, I mean.

...I don't know. If you ever want someone to talk to, consider this bridge inflammable. ...Non-flammable. I meant non-flammable.

Delivery: myfacerightnow.png ((it's a halfway-decently drawn ms paint picture of Shauna looking nauseous as someone puts a large plate with a dead crow on it in front of her))

Riven ==> Time to ride the roller coaster again!

Today almost seemed like it was going to be good. Almost.

You spent the better part of the morning "preparing" for your friends to return. ...Followed by a meeting that didn't quite go as planned...

Well that's a thing now. And while this isn't what you wanted, you aren't exactly unhappy about this... It means there is something beyond. And that it's possible to bring people back from it.

...Not that you'd want to do that. What's gone to you is gone forever. They wouldn't want that anyway. Not like this.

Well, even if this complicates things, you're still glad he's back. Even though... You'd rather he be anywhere than in your head.

...

...

...

Finally. Your party is back. After everything that just happened your head is still spinning, but you need to piece it together again.

First: Fury. You're angry at Blaire's betrayal. No, beyond angry. He made a goddamn promise. You have some very nasty words to say to him.

Second: Sorrow and confusion. Dana represented something good. More than good, what she stood for was what you wanted the whole time. And to know that you had secretly been working with her the whole time... It made you feel like you were closer to her.

You have to wonder why it was you. Did Dana choose you herself? Or was it just Cetus seeing that you met the requirements? Maybe they both saw something in you? ...Not like you'll ever know now.

Third: Confidence. Coco may have wanted to throw herself to her philosophical death, but she didn't. Because you believed in her. Ok. Not you. But you helped, you think. With that hanging over your head... You can't fail now. It'd be a disservice to her, to Vlad, and to Dana to do so. There's no going back.

Fourth and finally: Regret. You have the worst timing out of anyone you know. You brought up the Aslin thing, and put your girlfriend into tears. No, hysterics, even. It just seems like people around you tend to get hurt more and more these days... Maybe it'd be best if..........................

...

...

...

Either way. It's clear to you that you need to regroup. You need to pull everyone together and set things up. You called Nagi earlier today. Things are good to go on that front.

Step 1: Dragging Kimiko, Shauna, Ross, Allr, Devona, Rhys, and Rett out to LOIAS for that quest. It's important, god dammit.

Step 2 & 3: Shauna said she needed you for something important. She has a lot of explaining to do (and some apologizing) but if it's really as important as she let on.... Well, you just can't let a friend down. If she still is your friend.

Step 4: You need to have a talk with Dmitry. You have a feeling he can help you out, and besides... You might be able to win his and Sarah's hearts with this.

You're not ready for this. The rest of today is gonna be harsh. People will desert you, no doubt. Each and every person you're bringing on this mission of trust has an excellent reason to spit in your face and walk away.

That's why you have to do this. There's no alternative, and no putting it off.

It's time to put all your cards on the table with these people. All of them.

Riven ==> That could have gone better.

First: That LOIAS quest.  Could have gone better. Everyone arguing with you made you take several steps back. You're behind now. But at least no one walked away from you. Whether they stick with you until the end, that remains to be seen.

Then came Shauna's thing.  That was infuriating, but at least you helped Shauna find a better solution. You weren't letting that happen. Not a chance in hell.

And then the meeting with Blaire. You hate that guy so much. He's dangerous, and infuriating. But this is the best solution for now.

Finally, as if you didn't have enough pains in the ass, you went to meet with Dmitry. That went... Better than you expected. Though understandably, you're now overcome with an intense desire to break someone's jaw.

You have a lot of work ahead of you. And another long as hell day.

Aslin told you to take a breath, but...

These occurred during Shauna's various intermittent naps...

After finishing up the discussion of what to do with Kimiko and the unanimous agreement that Vlad's plan was the best, Shauna returned to the Inn and collapsed into her bed for a well-deserved rest.

Which of course woke up Serena for real, and she finished off the recruiting process to officially make her own party.

Alright! First step was complete...next step was to get themselves set up properly and start preparing to begin liberation of Earth! They'd need a base of operations and an AI, and begin making plans based on all the stuff Shauna learned from that blueblood.

Serena sent out a PM to the Scouting team and that photographer troll on the Battle team, requesting that they scope out the Crocker Corp facility in LOHAW for her. She needed a status report of whether the facility was still operational or if it was abandoned, as well as pictures and information on the layout of the area and the interior (if possible).

That place had a functional portal, as well as being equipped with offices and no doubt other sorts of facilities suited for properly running a rebellion. Plus, it belonged to the enemy...if the resources there were still usable, that gave them the perfect jumping off point for their revolution. Plus, if it was occupied, it was the perfect training for their Earth operations...

Serena leaned back in her chair and waited for the rest of her team to wake up.

While Rhys was clearly lost over what all was going on, there was at least one thing he had to make sure of: Eirwin (Or Suzu, as he's come to find out)'s existence.

And so, to help cheer her up, Rhys and Suzu embarked on a quest to help her become the Denizen of the Mind Aspect.

Unfortunately, it doesn't work out as hoped, making them flee to try again later. In the meanwhile, Rhys decides he needs advice from the only available Space player in the session: Leah.

...Which also does not work out as hoped. At the very least, Rhys came out with two things: potential partnership with Gungal and the rest of the group (As Rhys promised he would do well in), and finding at least one answer he sought. Conflicting and varying emotions of unknown sources be damned! And so, Rhys and Suzu attempted the quest once more.

Having succeeded, and succeeded well, Rhys was quite happy about the outcome of the quest... Well, partially. The good side? They were now a thing, and had quite a date for the night ahead. The bad side? He could no longer Quest, or else he would start the Awakening. At the very least, diplomacy didn't give EXP... Right?

...Right?

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Meanwhile, Rett had decided the fact that no one had yet to reach out to the Witch of Breath was kind of appalling; what with the promises he heard everyone sling out naively. Well, time to do some wet work. After all, if no one else will do it, it comes down to him, no? That's his job after all. And so, Rett embarked.

Well. That's all that could be said. Well.

Time to get drunk.

And so he did.

Well, it was... A meeting, he guessed. Nighttime was approaching very fast, and there was still time. He could do something, but what?

...Oh, right. He's still using his Anti-Kimiko build. Probably... Probably should revamp that. Not a good look for the Boss if you're wearing stuff meant to kill her. He looks in the shared inventory, and sees the boondollars. He thinks about this. He did directly contribute. Only right he be allowed to revamp himself and have better equipment. He was only a meager level 6, while everyone else was seconds away from starting the Awakening. Growing boy needs more food on his plate, no? He'll just grind out more to repay how much he's taking for alchemy. ...Well, a little more money couldn't hurt before he did it.

What the hell? He's drunk. He's got Nimbleness 3. He's got Combat Training 1. He was able to combine those in the original timeline and pull some sick moves. Gotta be the same here, right?

Rett contemplated on where he should go. LOFAY was very quiet; less likely for competition, if there was any, and a safer bet. Yet, LOTAV was a lot more populated due to the Rose Sea, and he stands to gain more at risk of getting served and ridiculed. So, the only question: Which place?

The tequila made his answer for him. Obviously go big or go home! That way you do less on the party's funds! Not like anyone would remember this anyway.

Famous last words, Rett.

Upon arriving in the settlement of LOTAV, Rett takes his headphones and sets them down gently on the ground, and hooks them to his Menu as he gathers a crowd, promising quite a good performance.

"OK, here's the 411, folks. Say some gangster is dissing your fly girl."

"There are gangsters here?"

"The hell is a fly girl?"

"Who is this clown?"

"You just give 'em one of these."

Rett proceeds to blast an oldie-but-goodie from his headphones, loud enough that everyone in the area can hear, as he proceeds to get fresh and use some slick smooth style on the metaphorical dance floor. Halfway through the dance he pulls out one of his katanas and proceeds to do a mixture of hip-hop dancing and war-dancing. This killed back home. I'm gonna be raining in boondollars after this.

...

During the performance, he could hear laughter, as others came up to dance alongside him. And only then did the crowd do more than stare in silence, actively cheering who Rett knew fully was the other dancers, and not him. If this were an anime, his eyes would just be darkened sockets at this point. But sadly, it wasn't, and so Rett had to pretend he was having a good time, while getting shown the fuck up by actual performance artists.

...

In the end, all five of them were paid handsomely, and pity was tossed in Rett's way. He earned only a meager 562 boondollars compared to the collective whopping 5,588 boondollars the whole group earned. To say he was mortified was putting it nicely. Then there was laughter, with someone telling him "learn to dance other than white boy dancing".

A fight nearly broke out, with Rett slinging insults and slurs, before eventually being laughed out of the settlement and back to Gary's house. There he would sulk in silence, reading the book he took for hours. Eventually, he realized something.

"Shit. The alchemy."

It didn't take long for him to break into one of the Alchemy labs. In fact, he chose the old faithful, LOCAR, and it's mostly abandoned state to safely sneak in and start alchemizing.

"Fuck those guys, I'm a genius," he said to himself, knowing full well that was a blatant lie. But what did he care? He was drunk. And with his bottle filled with tequila, he was going to stay that way for a long time.

Time to show the world who [ Δ  Edge] is.

Ross and Allr===>Reunite!

Unfortunately, this reunion is not a happy one, going by what's happened the past few hours. Some people, however, deal with it, and roll with the punches after living in the world of SBURBMMO. Others, though, find it a bit harder to come to terms with such a major event. For those without the strength of character to push through such a moment, some sort of greater being saw fit to surround them with people that can inspire and encourage them to continue.

Ross===>Hijack the focus for a bit.

So inspiring, in fact, that it inspires you to do something you never thought you'd do; try and reconcile with someone who, until recently, was a major anatagonist (from your point of view, anyway). And it's a good thing you did, too, as it...opens your eyes. You find in her, some of the humanity that you missed, blurred out by her murderous tendencies.

===>Okay now share the spotlight again.

After the talk, you are taken on a field trip to what is easily the coldest place you've ever been, and Ross gets to show off how much easier things are when there's a Heart player on the team. Allr gets a few highlights too, actually. Follow that with a scheduling of a new plan to subvert whatever the big bad has in mind.

Allr===>Okay you can get your turn now.

Thanks to some info from Ross, as well as your added incentive to sort out what the actual fuck is going on, you take a certain ex-albino on your trip with you to Prospit, only to be greeted with some sort of militaristic regime. Blaire's getting a bit cocky, methinks. But hey, at least you knocked out some of the to-do list of saving the game. Plus, Riven gets a good venting opportunity, which can help later.

...you hope.

Ross===>More spotlights pls.

While one twin heads to Prospit, the other sticks around on LOIAS, to get something dire off his chest. After the betrayal you just felt, you have to talk to her, and it's better sooner rather than later. You make the time to find and talk to Coco. And it goes well. More promises to keep, but something tells you how it'll be worth it in the long run. Besides, if all goes well, you have someone to confide in and trust. Now all that's left is to rest, and hope your trust is not misplaced again.

Day, end.

Katrina ==> Continue being kidnapped.

Not like you can do much else.

Riven ==> Progress. If only slightly.

Early this morning, Rett contacts you and the rest of the party. Something about avoiding the last level up.

You go ahead and concoct something; a pair of contact lenses. You spend a small bit of cash to make four pairs. Though you suppose you can always make more later.

With the [Patterned Contacts] in hand, you ask Rett to come with you to the Black Temple. You know. In case she doesn't show... Fortunately she does, but... That did not go as you would have liked. What else is new? ...You obsessively check your messages again and again throughout the day...

After waiting for a little bit, you decide to get to business. Not that you can blame him, but that prick sure is demanding. ...Hopefully this all works out. It occurs to you hours later that Gungal could easily take advantage of the pact.

Well... So could you. Maybe you're not allowed to betray him, but that doesn't preclude you from asking a favor or two... Hopefully it doesn't come to that...

It occurs to you that with all this shit going on, you desperately need more information. And to see an old friend. It's nice to speak with her again.

Next up, that thing you've been planning? Time to do it. Or... At least get started. Funny enough, Eirwin / Calavera / Suzu / whoever she is, isn't that bad. You could get used to hanging out with her. Even her saccharine adoration of Rhys isn't that bad, compared to some of the company you've been keeping lately.

Finally, and this probably ought to go in Shauna's post rather than yours, but you feel it's worth mentioning: Eloise. While it didn't quite work as you had planned, you... Honestly feel bad for the girl. If you could have gotten them back... Wouldn't you be the same?

Or maybe not. Honestly who knows? One thing is for sure. You intend to stand by your word on this one. Whatever happens, you're going to help her escape.

You spend some time playing with Teysa while you continue to wait for a message. You end up feeding her the [Red Dust].

Finally, the message comes, and you breathe a sigh of relief. It occurs to you that you should probably talk to your girlfriend about all of this, but... What if you hurt her again? What if she can't stand the sight of you, after the past few days? You wouldn't blame her...

Tomorrow is going to be another busy day...

...
...
...

Wait, hold up. as you're sitting in the inn, who should show up, but Ross himself. Turns out, he doesn't hate you like you thought. If nothing else, that at least, is comforting.

((A forgotten moment, between the events of Suzu's quests to ready the dungeon if LOFAY to become a denizen... A young Welsh man seeks answers.))

Rhys woke up, realizing it was a late wakeup. ...Oh.

That said, he couldn't do nothing. It was time to meet some new faces and hopefully mend the damage his gameself had made. It was time to speak with Oberon.

That went better than expected, though something doesn't quite sit right with Rhys.

Either way, it's time to get to work for real, and go find a Denizen to recruit. How about Ichor? ...Well, time to go seek Janus...

...

Rhys was in great turmoil over this. He knew Suzu was a complicated existence--he was doing what he could to secure her existence, after all. Even still, all of these ultimatums had completely taken the wind out of his sails.

Why does it have to be like this? Why must she be trapped in the influence of Skaia? Is... Is there really no other way to genuinely help her? For her to be free and never again fear of being paradoxed out of existence?

That following night, Rhys had retired to his room, alone. He dwelled pretty hard on what he had learned and what they were going to have to do. Part of him was really unsure about this whole plan. Sure, Riven had a lot working toward it, but he felt there was something...missing. Something very important they were all overlooking.

Rhys started to feel a little ill. What could he do? Realistically, what could he actually do?

He didn't know. And that scared him. He didn't want to lose anyone else anymore.

He didn't want to go back to those times.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Rett, meanwhile, had stuff to do. He was going to find Ilma and settle things with her. Maybe even get some dirt on Blaire's operations.

And away he went.

...

Idiot. Moron. Brainless jackass. Uneducated dolt.

Those were just the nice insults Rett flung at himself as he left, cradling his head in both frustrating and confusion. How the hell did people get this Unique bullshit so easily? He barely understood his own existence, much fucking less someone becoming Unique!

To hell with it. It was clear at this point that all the finer details were beyond him. Well above and beyond him.

Time to drink.

Rett went back to the inn on Prospit with the Quick Travel menu, and wasted no time finding a corner to sit in as the Bottomless Bottle appeared in hand. Opening the lid and taking a whiff, Rett scrunched his nose up. Everclear. Ugh. He sighed, looking at the bottle. Thinking. Not good thoughts, either.

A flashback with an enraged Ilma yelling at Rett after having found out his occupation and leaving. A flashforward of Calavera lying dead; her own sword piercing her heart, with a defeated smile of derision on her face.

A flashback of having been on a dangerous and lengthy quest to bring back Aralia some equipment, since she was now old enough to help out in ques-

In a jolt, Rett chugged half of the bottle, holding his mouth closed as he fought off the urge to let his gag reflex make him vomit the stuff back up. God damn was Everclear nasty as hell.

He ordered something nostalgic. Something to get rid of the taste of Everclear. Something that was Aralia's favorite.

Steak. Rare.

...

After a good hour had passed, Rett was now completely shitfaced, staring in a corner. There, in the dark as everyone began to go to their rooms and settle, were faces that slowly appeared, mouthed something, and disappeared to make way for more. Countless of faces--not all intact.

And of course, three familiar faces from the other day showed up too.

"Because," he said aloud, voice deflated. "...Because."

Upon seeing Ilma's face, Rett got up, swaying around with once more astonishing grace, as he went to his rented room in the inn. Once inside, he would sit at the desk, and sigh, as he brought his menu up. Going through some submenus, he eventually came across the Videos tab, and went inside it, opening a video.

"...2...1... Alright! I'm gonna find you!" shouted an excited little girl of pure white skin, raven black hair, and red eyes. Her elbows and knees seemed to be segmented, as well as her neck. Even her hair seemed fake--like it was a wig. She looked to be no older than six years, and looked around everywhere.

"Arrrrre you heeeeere~?" she asked, opening the closet. "Boo!" she shouted excitedly as she opened the door, tilting her head as she found it empty. "Hmmmmm~" she hummed curiously, walking around further to open the door to the bathroom. "Aha! Got you D-!" Nothing.

A quiet chuckle from behind the camera.

"Mmmmm~... He didn't leave the room..." She turned around, looking around more and more, before stopping. "Well, two can play that game!" Her eyes lit up, as she turned to look around, stopping dead on the camera. She blinked, then looked away, wandering around the room before...

"GOTCHA!" shouted a deep and Southern voice, as the camera lunged at the little girl, grabbed her and pulling her off her feet as she let out a shrill squeal and giggled when the camera raised her dress to give a.... A raspberry? A raspberry.

"Stop it Daddy, that tickles!" she laughed. "Too bad for you little girl, 'cause I'm not Daddy, I'm the tickle monsterrrrrr!" he yelled, bringing her onto the bed and started relentlessly tickling her sides, causing her to squirm and shriek in laughter.

Tears welled and fell down Rett's cheeks in steady rivers, as the Bottomless Bottle was raised and swigged once more. Suddenly, the Everclear didn't taste so bad.

Another video was played.

"Daddy?" asked the young girl, who now looked to be nearly 10. "Will... Will I ever be like a normal girl?"

"Of course you will," said Ilma, walking over to give her a hug. "You already are, Aralia. You're just growing so fast because you're just eating up that EXP! It means you're strong!"

Aralia giggled. "I like being strong. Maybe one day I'll be just like Daddy!"

"Now now, let's not try to follow in footsteps like that. Be strong your own way, dear," said a Southern voice from the camera. Aralia looks at it, tilting her head, and thinking.

"Who else do you look up to, sweetheart?" Ilma asked, kneeling down and placing a hand on her shoulder.

"Mmmmm~" she hummed, unsure, before he face lit up.

"I wanna be like Vantablack!"

Ilma's face fell. "Dear... He's a bad guy."

"I know! But, what if he was a good guy? What if he's just having to do bad things in order to help make good things happen, because he can't do them himself? He's just like Daddy, but muuuuch cooler~!"

"He kills people, Aralia. Horribly. Please don't follow after him," came the voice again.

"I'll be right back, I need to use the restroom," Ilma said, quick traveling away as Aralia blinked at the camera.

"But, so do you Daddy. And you always act so smug and heartless when you do, but I know you're not really like that. I know you get very upset when no one's looking..." She looked sad.

"Aralia..."

"How do we know Vantablack isn't the same way?"

"Honey, Vantablack is a psychopath."

Tears rose and fell from Aralia's eyes. "Y-You don't get it, Daddy! You don't get it! Stupid Daddy, stupid, stupid!" She turned and ran off, sobbing.

"A-Aralia, wait!"

"Vantablack."

Rett slowly blinked, as the tears blurred his vision.

"Vantablack." he muttered, with an incredible amount of hate.

After a moment, Rett calmed down, once more looking in the dark of the corner of the room. Faces faded in and faded out. Another huge swig from the Bottomless Bottle. Another deep sigh, as Rett got up and swayed over to the bed, lying down as the room spun around him. Closing his eyes, the faces were now in his own, mouthing the same cryptic motions as they appeared and disappeared.

"...Because." A pause.

"...I'm a worthless imbecile."

The day begins with Ross at Nagi's house, taking a bit of time to simply meditate, and lose himself in the vast emptiness that is the Dreambubbles. There, he meets a very familiar person, who takes advantage of Coco's recent absence to join Ross's mindscape. Still getting crowded in there. Hopefully nothing too severe happens.

Now on to a somewhat backwards procedure. Allr and Ross meet up with Vlad, in order to learn...fusion. Yes, two into one fusion. The complete reverse of the quest that split them up only...2, 3 days ago? Of course, Allr resists at first, mostly because, again, of the effort that went into splitting them up in the first place. That, and the entire situation is way too anime and weebish for him. Eventually though, Ross manages to convince him, and with Vlad's help, manage to combine their bodies into one, with Ross doing the same to their souls.

The sensation is...off. It feels like a scar that healed incorrectly, the kind you can't stop running your fingers on because of how strange it feels. But yet, also like a scar, it feels right again. After all, the two people were once one. Coming back together would seem natural, but it simply doesn't. Maybe...maybe they've drifted too far apart to be able to come together comfortably. As expected of such a situation, they forcibly split when their confidence is shaken, the fused being grotesquely splitting into the component boys. But, like the strong-willed people they are, they go right back into the practice, refining the skills until they can manage simple combat in their new form.

When they feel like they've gone through enough of the routine, they go their own separate ways.

For Ross, he heads over to the Judgement Core, getting in touch with his...actually, considering his romantic status, what is Adie to him? His bridesmaid or something? Anyway, he meets with her, where she...Hm. Suffice to say, while Adie is a wonderful girl, she...talks a lot. He can't exactly fault her though. Centuries upon centuries of nothing to do. The least he can offer is someone to talk to. Talk at. Whatever.

Since you're juggling doing with talking, it only makes sense to invite someone else along. Even if their recent decisions make them...disliked, to put it gently, by the rest of the team. For everything that he's done, you know that Blaire really does mean well. Even if what he considers meaning well and what everyone else does, doesn't match. If nothing else, he doesn't deserve to be considered an enemy, not after everything the team has gone through. Besides, the final battle is standing menacingly on the horizon. Any help that can be had will be needed.

Allr, meanwhile, makes his way to LOHAW, meeting another little gaggle of misfits. More body horror and political subplots, just par for the course in the tragic story that is his life. But you get used to it. Somewhat. To cheer himself up (and not need therapy), he goes on a shopping spree, buying stuff for both himself and Ross, because of shenanigans involving accounts. A small excursion, but fun, at least.

And with that bundle of stuff done, another day comes to a close, with the next one just as uncertain as it always is.

==> Shauna & Serena: Status Report

After Serena returned from her excursion to LOHAW with Rett and Allr, she decided to rest for a bit while she recuperated from the stress of her first real mission, and...well, that was an interesting result, to put it lightly! After they'd finished up touring the base, she'd asked the remaining trolls to stick around the place while she and her gang worked on finding somewhere more...neutral for them to The tied up seadwellers...she'd left them to Rett to figure out what to do with them.

As for the base itself, she lacked the technical expertise to get it up and running. Rather than try and fail to figure out what was possible and what wasn't, she called up the Intel team, Scouting Team, and Item team to request that they do a survey of the base to start seeing what could be fixed up and secured, as well as what useful or valuable tools and information still remained in the place. They could keep any useful items or equipment they found and wanted as payment- she just wanted the information and status.

She'd talk with the others about figuring out what to do with the trolls later. For now, she was napping.

---

Shauna was pretty sure the meeting with Boye and Helene, as well as Eloise and Marco, went better than she honestly expected. Sure, Eloise was...kinda problematic, but that's...

Well, after a talk with Ross, she was feeling optimistic about the whole deal! She just needed to set up a meeting with Echidna, and possibly get Riven's help on figuring out how to strengthen Blackout some...well, it was good that she was going to talk to Kimiko soon, she'd bring it up-

Well. In all the excitement, she forgot to mention it. Whoops. She instead opted to send a PM to Kimiko with the stuff she'd forgotten to bring up afterward.

Sender Username: [Serena Castle]

Purpose: Almost forgot!

Message: I wanted to tell you this in person, but in all the excitement it ended up slipping my mind! Remember how you mentioned a while back that you'd always wondered what it'd be like to have a sibling? So...technically, Marco's your younger(?) brother! I...well, I dunno how exactly the timeline works out with that one, but I'm pretty sure he's younger.

Cool, right?

I also needed to ask about setting up a meeting with Echidna tomorrow. Like, in person...there's something big we gotta do that requires us to be in her presence to pull it off. That uh...that MMO console access you have might actually come in handy to help ensure things don't get out of hand as well...I'll explain it more tomorrow morning!

Hope you're still doing OK!

<3

Shauna

Delivery: n/a

With that sent, Shauna decided to head off and handle something she'd been putting off for too long, messaging Sarah to ask her friend to come along as well as asking Sapphira to come as well. It went...well, interestingly, to say the least, and once everything had settled and she'd dodged Dmitry's wrath (for now, anyway), she brought Sapphira back to the Inn to start repairs.

...Looking at her old beat-up coat and weapons, Shauna decided it was high time to do some upgrading to her equipment. Everyone else had more thematic equipment...she might as well finish up her whole Okami thing, right?

Well, it cost a bunch but she replaced her Black Hole Bomb with the Sol Kagami, using up a Hope Aspect Drive and using her Holy powers to complete it. She replaced the Faith Healer with the Restoration Magatama (R. Magatama for short), and...realizing she can't actually do Breath blessings anymore, left the Frost Bolt as-is. She did have to use the other Hope Aspect Drive for that.

She did use Imagination to create a Master Gem Shard in the process. It seems neat. She decides to keep it.

She upgraded her Blazing Blazer to the Radiant Kimono as well, and finally borrowed Ross's Spirit Pendant to craft the Angelic Pendant. Which she Hope blesses, herself. And equips in place of the mail bag, after taking out the SP Jello inside it and putting it back in the inventory.

Lastly, she creates a Combo Skill: [Dreams of an Absolution] to let her and Serena utilize their link to the fullest.

All in all, it costs her 2610 boondollars.

She then sells off the Black Hole Bomb, the Faith Healer, the Blazing Blazer, and the Photosynthesizer, and the Sunstone and Solar Battery that she bought (ditching junk like her fur and the switch afterward) of her own stuff, and makes some room in the inventory by pawning off the Trenchcoats, Masks, Utility Belts, Asbestos Suits, Lethal Joy Buzzers, the Amber Pendant, the Pike of Conquest, the Cruel Dagger, the Jungle Spring, the Shadow Veil, the Faerie Dress, the Hemuspendant, the Symbiotic Stinger, one of the Mail Bags, the Coat of the Mighty Beast, the Eyes of the Tiger, and the Dersite Boots.

She sells all of that. Then she goes back to the Inn to rest for the night, since tomorrow would be a big day.

---

Serena wakes up again, yawning. It was already evening, but she figured she could make use of what time remained in the day and called up Nadira (the Earth one) to go with her on a quest to bolster their funds. This led to meeting new people, finding some incredibly useful stuff, and of course, making a few new friends over dinner.

A new day arrives, and so do several messages for the main cast. They forecast the end of eons of conflict and struggle.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Riven:

She wakes up to a low rumble. It takes her a moment to return to full consciousness, but when she does she notices her treasure chest is shaking ever so slightly. Why? A short investigation later reveals her Black Cellphone has received several missed calls, and a single message from the caller after Riven failed to pick up.

The message is from Devona.

[Hello Riven. Sorry to bother you so early in the morning. And sorry for disappearing yesterday without a word. I had a lot to think about myself, about us, and about Aslin and Kimiko. And I think I have finally found my answer, and my determination.

I am finally ready. Today, I will free Sussie. And I am sure, with my power, I can free Mary too. I am only telling you, because I trust your judgement. I want to know what you have to say. Contact me when you can, but be careful about it. After you guys cleared the dungeon, Blaire has begun stationing people near the chamber Mary is trapped in. I know he doesn’t want her free. I don’t know if you do, but I think that options should remain open for us in case you do.

If you don’t contact me back for whatever reason, I will take that as a sign to act as I see fit. I am sorry if that sounds harsh, but I can’t afford to sit on my ass and do nothing any longer. I have to make my move today.]

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ross:

The *ping* sound from a received message snaps Ross back into the waking world. It appears someone sent him a PM. As he opens the user interface window, Sapphira tells him that she can’t open or read the message; it seems the sender made it so only Ross could see the message’s contents.

The PM is from Blaire.

[You Ross. Because I kind of like you and trust in your sense of right and wrong, and your interests for the greater good, I am telling you something. At the end of this day, we are going to make a push against Condy on Earth, but that’s not the important thing. The important thing is that we’re also running a parallel secret operation to catch them unawares. That operation has a near 100% probability of putting whoever goes in a fight with Finn. Sounds kinda suicidal? Maybe, but you guys got the box don’t you? He doesn’t know you have it; gotta thank Psyche for that one. So, point is, we will try to catch him off guard. Want in? If you do, come talk to me quickly. Try not to babble about this to anyone until we have had a talk, alright? You can after I give you clearance. And don’t try to put this off either. I ain’t gonna wait for you to grind or some shit so you can join the strike team at the last minute. That is, if you want in. If you don’t, at least send over the box, okay?]

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Rhys:

Suzu pokes his cheek over and over until he returns to the world of the conscious. Well, okay, she’s not doing that to wake him up, but I ain’t going into detail about that.

She was out last night doing something, and he went to sleep without her having returned. When did she get in?

“Doesn’t matter.” She says, gulping down some water and turning a bit serious. “Remember the quest Janus gave me? About defeating the Faerie Queen and taking over the Land’s Plague? We have a problem. Your faerie friend and her boyfriend and brother did so already. She’s the faerie queen now. I thought you should know, because I don’t really know what to do now.

“Not that this means we are screwed or anything. I am certain this could even be beneficial for us! But, uh…any ideas?” She asks, with a bit of worry in her voice.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Shauna:

Shauna receives a call as well, though from a different Troll. She is too sound asleep to pick it up on time, but Kimiko is kind enough to leave a message.

[So, I think we should talk a bit about what happened yesterday. I mean about the Tumor. I don’t know how it happened, but at that moment we somehow got under its sphere of influence. I haven’t been able to do anything since, so it’s not something I am doing. I don’t know what is going on, but I think we can use this to our advantage. If we manage to figure out what happened, we might manage to steal the Tumor right from under Blaire’s stupid nose. What do you say Shauna? Meet me at the same place as yesterday, and we go on a detective quest together?]

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Everyone:

FROM: Gung4l Th30ry
TO: Alaross, Serena, Eihcch Didnal, Riven, Corbenk

Rhys, pass this on to Suzu, can you?

So…here I am. After some days of deliberation, I have determined that Dana’s death has indeed left me with almost no other options. And my limited amount of spies amongst Blaire’s forces tells me shit is going down today so…I can’t afford to just hide any longer. And I can’t do shit by myself.

So, some of you know what I want. I haven’t changed my mind about it. But, I think we should all sit down and finally reach an agreement. You know, figure out a solid course of action that we can all agree to. So basically, I am calling for a diplomacy meeting. Bring whoever you want along, yeah? I trust your judgement. Or well, I don’t actually, but hey I have little option in the matter. I can’t play it safe anymore.

I am willing to come completely clean. About everything. This includes my abilities and Oberon’s as well, and also that whole Kato secret weapon deal you may or may not know about.

I will let you pick the time, but I pick the location. And it has to be done today.

Please don’t make me regret this.

PS: For the love of everything holy and decent, Rhys, try not to flirt or cuddle or kiss or whatever with Suzu in front of me. I still haven’t fully adapted myself to survive that spectacle.

Katrina ==> Bump into someone familiar-ish.

Well that was awkward...
And this happens too.

Welp, nobody cares about that shit!

Riven ==> Get busy.

You are jolted awake by the images of a memory. An Unfortunate Beginning. You try to stop thinking about how it might have been if things were a little different.

Answering your phone, you quickly do a few time calculations, and set to work on your day plan:

Your day starts with a little research, and a secretive meeting. Man, this whole plan thing is starting to get more and more fleshed out as time goes on. You're feeling good about this.

What you're not feeling good about is the overwhelming anxiety of facing your girlfriend right now. But since it's time to do the thing, you don't get to put it off.

That went... Well... You're freaking out. But not for the reasons you thought you'd be. Whatever that thing is, you think you might even know, it's bad. It's bad news for you and your friends. It's bad news for your plan. And it might be a deal killer with you and Ghroth. Or Green. Or whatever you call him.

Next up: Gungal! And more plan! Man, what a prick. But you have to play nice. No decking him until you're about to leave his turf. That way he can't retaliate. Couple bits of bad news here and there but on the whole, not a bad...

Wait a minute. What was that Ross said about Finn and Blaire? Looks like you gotta make a few calls. Especially if you want to make it there to help him on time. No way you're missing this.

Well, that was fun. Time for a quick mission with Anna, none of which will come back to bite you in the ass, you're sure.

And then...

AND THEN...

THE MOMENT YOU'VE BEEN WAITING FOR...

...

...Belongs to Ross. Which is what you wanted, in the end. Good for him.

After that, you finally make good on the promise to Nyx. Which, of course, causes a few problems, as these things do. Ultimately, it becomes Shauna's quest more than yours and...

...Things go even more sideways. The plan nearly falls apart.

Nearly.

You'll have to thank Sarah, if you both make it out alive.

Katrina ==> You again???

Yes, you again. Time to resolve some issues. Well that was fun. Can we get back to the main story now?

==> Shauna: Go about your day.

Your day, in particular, began with a somewhat rough start as you helped Riven and Devona out with a mission that went a bit awry..., although it thankfully sorted itself out with your help as well as everyone else's.

That was exhausting, honestly...and something seemed off about that horrorterror troll...girl? You can't really put your finger on it...

==> Serena: Take over.

You're up and awake.

After a pretty intense meeting where you're pretty sure you made an ass of yourself, you kind of spent your time getting things together. After all, you'd actually come up with some pretty solid plans if you do say so yourself, and you're not about to back out of them- although you probably should get ready to help out Ross with his thing while you do so.

A few conversations (and a brief nap) later, and you're raring to go kick Finn's ass.

Which, hey, you did pretty well at, considering the...unpleasant surprise at the end.

Worn out, and after a bit of a shock to your system, you're pretty sure you need to take a decent break. You'll have to make it up to Nadira tomorrow...

==> Shauna: Your turn again!

You didn't lose any time letting Kimiko know all about what happened with Finn, meeting up for the pre-planned date to go find that darn Tumor, wherever it's hiding.

And of course, you found it! Sort of. Seems like the darn thing was with you the whole time, and you didn't even know it. ...Which is a little unsettling, but hey. Let's not think too hard about it. It's kind of more worrisome that the Doom Denizen is now Her Imperious Condescension...there's going to have to be a few changes in plans. But you're awesome. You can make it work, right?

There was also something else you wanted to do, since Riven had asked you to come along given your...surprising relevance. Not gonna lie, you were pretty mad when she told you all about Elpis being held hostage! This was your fault, you had to fix this awful mistake.

...And...that ended a bit differently than you anticipated. No going back now, though, you're Elpis's successor. At least you get a few decades to mentally prepare yourself for...Denizen-hood.

Topic: Do I really need to tell you what this is about?
[Alright, you guys saw me and know who did the Elpis thing. Let's get the inevitable confrontation over with, it's not like you guys don't know where I live and...well, let's just say tomorrow is going to be hectic. Just bring Hemera, this was mostly about a personal beef over her tricking me into helping her kidnap Elpis in the first place.

For the record, maybe come along? Or at least send someone who can make sure things don't get out of hand? I just want to talk, no fighting, no tricks, no funny business on my part.

Shauna]

Speaking of, you really should tie up a few loose ends before going to sleep...

Thank god. Everything worked out for the best! You knew it would, after all...although, you have a very hard conversation to have with Kimiko tomorrow morning. As you drift off to sleep, you pray that it doesn't end in a break up...or worse.

==> Serena: Wake up!

W-wait, it's not over?

Oh right. You guys alternate sleeping.

After Shauna went to bed, you got to work setting up for tomorrow morning. After a brief Q & A session with Ross, it was time. First thing's first, Blaire. You get Lime to help you encrypt the message so it can't be easily intercepted.

Title:IMPORTANT!!
[Hey. Few things I need to ask you about, few things I need to tell you about.

Question #1: What was the deal with the guys helping out Ross with the seadwellers? They seemed...different, for players. Couldn't put a bead on it, but I'm kinda interested.

Question #2: You know anywhere the Condesce's forces could be laying low? This is pretty important. Let me follow up and explain...

I'm sure you've already found out about what went down in LOBAG. Namely, we went in to free both Sussie and the girl bound to her, and Mary as well. Quite frankly, that worked out like a charm. Or at least, it did until, somehow, another person bound to presumably a different horrorterror popped into that flickery circle doodad and took the Doom Denizen position. After a brief confrontation, she left.

Anyway, we saved a few of your guys who had gotten on that new lady's bad side while we weren't looking, so. Yeah. Sorry for screwing around with your side of things.

Thing is, it's not entirely clear if this new Doom Denizen popping in was entirely our fault considering who it was. Found out about that one too, after the fact, though Riven seems to think it was obvious.

It's the Condesce. She found a way in, and considering we found she had plans drawn up about infiltrating the session by tomorrow in advance of our involvement (found em on Finn, and Ross drilled him for more info. I'm sending you a copy of the plans we found attached to this PM and added a few notes about the stuff Ross found out), it's entirely possible this would've happened regardless of our little escapade.

Point is, she duped you. All the battles your guys have won to force back her armies? They're lying low, waiting for a signal to attack the whole session and start slaughtering players left and right while she takes the place over and kicks the Admin out of this timeline...and ensures the whole thing goes to Hell.

Now you may be wondering, "what signal could that possibly be?" The Tumor. That's the signal. She's planning on sneaking into Prospit tomorrow evening and detonating it to completely annihilate the planet, and that's the signal for her troops to start the offensive.

You being, you know, you, I figured it was smart to be proactive and warn you so you can get things in order for tomorrow. Start seeking out information on where her forces are hiding in the Medium. Set up proper defenses for the Tumor to slow her down and keep it out of her hands. You're the guy with the inter-universal police training and the army, I figure you're a better chess player than I am, so that sort of tactical stuff is on you.

I, on the other hand, plan to set up an ambush. Get a few task forces together of as many of our mutual acquaintances as I can convince to actually join in to help deal with the issues she presents and strike as she's trying to sneak through wherever it is you keep that giant bomb- trap and corner the bitch. We know where she's going to be, after all, and it's going to take one hell of a fight to pin her now, especially before Awakening begins.

I already have a few people in on this since we found out together, or through different channels- needless to say, there's a glimmer of Hope here. If we all work together, we can avert this catastrophe in the making.

See you on the flipside,
Serena]

With that over with, you got a second message ready with Lime's help encrypting this one, too.

Title: EMERGENCY MEETING FIRST THING TOMORROW
[9 AM. The Mermaid Palace Courtyard. I'm sure quite a few of you remember Shauna trying to rally as many people to her side as possible a long time ago in that very spot, and I figured that since it was time to do that again, it was symbolically fitting to do it in the same place.

I know not all of us get along with each other, for a lot of varied and mostly well-founded reasons. However, and I have to be very clear about this: Tomorrow, the Mermaid Palace is neutral ground. We have to put our disagreements aside right now, because there is a much larger and more imminent threat facing us tomorrow than our own feuds and opposing plans. We can pick those up later, when we aren't being threatened with violent existential failure.

I'm talking about Her Imperious Condescension. Some of you already know about this, some of you might not. She's already here in the session. She's somehow managed to take the place of the Admin's Doom Denizen. She's planning an attack tomorrow. If she succeeds, just about everything you have spent the last...I don't know, all of your life working for is pretty much entirely for nothing, because her plan entails completely derailing and destabilizing this timeline and killing most, if not all, of us players with that army of hers.

So, if you've been working towards something that's fairly specific to you accomplishing it with this stream of consciousness, or if you've been through other timelines and it would be kind of awful to have to start over again, or if you really just kind of like this particular timeline and getting to be alive and in control of this iteration of yourself, or if you just plain don't like the Condesce for whatever reason?

Well, it's a reason to care about this stuff and help put a stop to her scheme.

Come if that's a good enough reason for you to show up and if you're willing to contribute. Don't come if you can't be bothered. Bring any of the Old Heroes you might happen to be hanging out with right now, bring any of the Old Denizens too if you can convince them to agree to a temporary truce with the others who they might have disputes with.

I'm going to repeat: Agreeing to come is agreeing to a temporary truce. The Condesce is an intergalactic tyrant with ages of experience in tactics, combat, and warfare under her belt. We're mostly a rag-tag team of super-powered teenagers. We stand a chance together, but any division between us is going to be one she can use to tear us apart and crush us one by one.

More information to those who come tomorrow.

I hope to see you all tomorrow so we can put together a plan of action. Don't tell the Admin about this until we've actually talked that possibility through. On that same note, keep this whole thing under wraps. We can't risk the Condesce getting wind of this.

Serena

P.S. To anyone who has agreed to help me with our heist of the Battlefield HQ, that's still on for tomorrow. We'll have a meeting for that immediately after we deal with this much larger issue. Same place.

P.P.S. I'll have coffee and some sort of breakfast set up for everyone. Probably bagels. You'd be surprised about the places you find open after everyone goes to sleep around here.]

With those PMs sent, Serena got to work...hanging out with Sapphira and Lime, as per usual. And also teaching them about the dark sides of human history and why racism is bad, since apparently that's necessary now.

She also spent the night gathering the bagels and coffee, as well as looking for the mysterious young girl they rescued from being part of the Doom Denizen...

==>Ross: Exact Your Revenge

That's a bit darker than the situation really is. Not too far off, but phrased poorly. Before you go and meet with the rest of your party to see Gungal and hear him out, you respond to the PM you received, for your eyes only. It doesn't take too long, and it's not a very deep conversation, it's more Blaire just giving some info. Useful info, nonetheless. It's now a lot easier to prepare yourself for what's to come.

Well, what's to come later, that is. You still need to meet up and talk to Gungal and the rest of your team. Again, it's more of other people talking while you stand back and just sorta take in the information you're given. Not too much of a complaint there, either.

While everyone else handles their own affairs, you buckle down and start to really prepare for your upcoming mission. Getting help from Shauna and her Beyond Infinity, mainly as a 'just in case' for the fight. There's no telling what Finn has up his sleeve, and you can't afford to let him surprise you, not with so much on the line besides your pride and life.

After what feels like only a handful of minutes later, the mission begins. Your emotions are running high, and you're not certain of what will come out of this. Honestly, it's terrifying. Facing off against an enemy who is stronger than you, shares your powers with vast differences and years of practice, not to mention all the resources he has at his disposal. You have to keep yourself calm as the fight commences, with everyone doing their best.

The entire fight has you on edge, trying your best to keep up and stay alive. You do lose yourself, only for a moment, though. Having the person who murdered your first love underneath you for you to pummel will do that. Rett's transformation is unexpected, and despite everyone falling off to unconsciousness, you manage to pull out of the situation mainly intact.

Once everything has settled down and everyone has had a chance to destress, you take a few moments to, partly, talk with Coco, then Finn(a bit to brag, but mostly to interrogate him), and finally, Psyche. The realization that Psyche used to be as human as you, helps to make her less of a deity, like a Denizen was usually seen. It does put you at ease, and feel a bit better in general.

The last thing you do of the day is way less plot-relevant, and more likely to not be realized by anyone. You head off into the Dreambubbles and find another person to share your soul space with, a Mage of Space by the name of Iris. She seems nice enough, but something about the situation, not specifically her, makes you feel...off. Like, not yourself...

After the events of Finn's defeat, and the both return and fall of Vantablack, Rett had become catatonic from the trauma of the revelation. That this entire time, Vantablack was him.

His mind raced behind his sullen and empty expression as everyone argued with Nadira over whether or not he should die. Deep down, Rett wished she won. Rett wished they listened to her. He didn't deserve to live anymore. Any chance of redemption, any chance at having his soul saved, was lost. Devoured once again by the darkness that was Vantablack.

But his mind wandered away quickly. To the dreamlike state where he saw many things--primarily, memories of his timeline. Of his family. His home town. The life he had, and left to enlist in the military because he had no ambition. The trials and tribulations that brought were overwhelming; it was a miracle he even survived boot camp, let alone managed to succeed long into becoming an E-3 ranked soldier.

Memories of the game came and went. Him meeting his original party, him meeting Ilma after they abandoned him in Mermaid Palace and left him for dead, the deal with the Horrorterrors to get the Black Seed, meeting Coco and promising to keep her a secret from the Admin, his first death to a PKer, meeting Aralia...

...Aralia...

...

After quite some time and late in the night, Rett came to, and after another hour or two he realized he had some place to be. A habit, burned into him long, long ago.

...

Eventually, having learned of Echidna, Rett set out to find the killer and bring justice. Unfortunately, there was no justice. There was no one to hate or kill. His anger, once again, was impotent.

How painful a sting that word resonated with him.

Eventually, he would finally get some rest, knowing tomorrow was going to be... Well. He knew what was coming. And despite everything having been covered and prepared, he couldn't help but fail to sleep. The memories of the war in his timeline plagued him endlessly. Anxiety would be his companion tonight.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Rhys, meanwhile, went with Suzu to meet with every party and person who she wronged and took lives from. Of course, he took every blow meant for her, as despite his androgyny and effeminate nature, Rhys was still very much a man, and he could not bear seeing a woman harmed like that.

It took the entire day, dealing with all of the people Suzu wronged. Graves were prepared, and funeral rites read. To Rhys, it felt like a continuation of being Cu Sith. Yet, even still, he would also seek some parties out on his own, to make amends for what Aslin had done. He would make it quite clear he was Rhys, not Aslin, and that he would make right of everything that had gone wrong by his hand.

The best news, however, was coming home to find that Sarah and Dmitry had paved the way for Suzu's survival. All Rhys could feel was relief. Yet... Somehow, he was anxious. Something gnawed at him--squeezing his heart. He knew it wasn't about the Condesce's plan to invade the session. But what was it...? What made him so unsettled?

He didn't know, but what he did know was that following Kimiko's breakdown and the emotional roller coaster everyone had today, Rhys would stay with Suzu for the night once more.

*Inhale* "Puhaaa! What a morning this is : )"

And it really was. Even as a child, Coco had possessed a certain preference for cloudy weather. It wasn't just the shade and cool breezes it would bring to her, a girl used to harsh sunlight and sweating, but also the feeling of premonition. Coco liked cloudy weather, but she loved the days that preluded rain and storms. There was something wonderful to her at that precise moment between peace and chaos; that moment of transition. Of liminality. She had even designed the 100 WIL Mastery Quest after it, in reference to that ambiguous state some Players found themselves in when their two selves were beginning to grow distinct, but weren't yet fully separate.

That morning (or as much of a morning could be had in the Medium's unchanging atmospheres) she felt it in her bones: the coming of the storm.

"We are getting to the end."

This was a good timeline. There were some things that hadn't developed entirely to her liking, but overall, she had been having her conditions checked off one by one these last few days. Some could say this was the best way things could turn out, as if everything went exactly to plan...well, wouldn't that be too suspicious? She had just found out about Dana's (now futile) little plan. It really wouldn't be too paranoid to assume someone else could be trying to set everything up to lure her in. But that was part of the game. She had to take gambles and risks and endure until she found her winning conditions. Besides, this was why she had set up so many escape routes for herself; from body switching between her multiple physical selves, to instant jumping of the timelines. As a Unique, she already was in other timelines. It was simply her unwillingness to abandon her physical selves behind that made the process take time. After all, while it guaranteed her escape 100% of the time, it also meant she had to start from scratch with her plans. Couldn't really set up the Eon's Ring with just one Coco.

That was what bothered her the most about her current Unique status. She had, for all intents and purposes, unlimited energy. She was a hivemind; a network that controlled an infinite number of bodies across an infinite number of timelines. Even though she only existed within those universes where Coco played SBURB (she had kind of retconned all others) there were an infinite number of variations between each, from significant events like friendships to small ones like the spot her foot landed on when she got out of bed the 27th of July of 2009. And each of those Coco's had a well of power within them. Having connected them all, she had access to unlimited resources when it came to using her Maid of Time abilities. And that was before even factoring in her unending willpower and her extensively trained ability to delay harm and fatigue to herself.

For all intents and purposes, the entity known as Coco was unstoppable.

The problem came when one shifted from a metaphysical perspective to a physical one. In terms of the capacity for Skaian Heroes to bend reality based on their Mythological Roles, which Nico had translated to SP in SBURB MMO, Coco was the equivalent to a bottomless ocean. An infinite resource. But while she was unlimited in her reserves, she was limited in their utilization. Sadly, being Unique didn't make you almighty, and her physical bodies had limitations.

Usually, SBURB Heroes trained their bodies, minds and souls together as they progressed through the game. And while some Players favored one of the three above the others, overall there had to be a certain balance. But Coco could have her mind and soul inhabit multiple bodies; bodies that didn't develop at the same rate. While Coco had come up with some very neat power uses (she still loved expanding the space around her by increasing the distance/time between herself and others, mostly because it always induced a headache in those used to experiencing the world in just three dimensions) not all of her bodies were resilient enough to handle the strain. Like a character in an RPG with a super spell that costs 999 MP but has an MP Gauge that caps at 100.

You can give a hose an unlimited water supply, but you will still have a limit on how much water you can pump out at a time.

In other words, while Coco had unlimited bodies, she had to grind Exp for them all to make them battle ready. And that was after she handled the two other big things: her Doomed status, and everything wanting to kill her. Each Coco body had to be trained to develop her signature Delay ability to the point they could prolong feeling the effects of being a Paradox; at least until they could be given new bodies with non-fucked-up brains or took over their iteration of Skaia. But even THEN, a good chunk of Coco's had to be set up to form the Eon's Ring and thus delay the arrival of all those beings that didn't like her trying to destroy Paradox Space, with the Horrorterrors being the tip of the spear.

Coco was powerful, but when Cthulhu was the first enemy of the Boss Rush? Yeah, that wasn't a battle she wanted to have. This was why she only did one SBURB MMO at a time. Couldn't really manage to split her resources, and simultaneous runs made it easier to lose physical bodies. Not to mention it was just plain taxing. She had multiple bodies, but the skill to control them all at the same time wasn't inherent. Like how people tended to favor one arm over the other, or could hear multiple conversations at the same time but only be really paying attention to one. Coco often focused to control at most a dozen or so bodies, and left the rest in 'auto-pilot', unless something of note happened with any of her bodies. It's also why the first time she tried to overwhelm Condy with sheer numbers she had gotten her ass handed to her in a silver platter.

Speaking of the fish lady herself--

"Is it her :?"

It wasn't hard to learn about what happened with her Doom Denizen. A Horrorterror breaking free and escaping the Session wasn't what one would call subtle. That Mr Skull had rung her up and told her the GM account still listed the Doom Denizen position as [Occupied] made it child's play to deduce someone had taken it over. Her first guess was, of course, Condy. While lacking any of the powers her race tended to display other than a stupid long lifespan (made worse by the fact Coco was now older than Condy DX) Her Imperious Condescension liked to abuse her even stupider physical might to put herself through a training from the literal Gods of the Deep and come out even stronger than before. Her bloodline had always been tied to the Horrorterrors, of course, what with all that Vast Glub immunity going on. But Condy took it a step further. Learning how to sing an inferior version of the Vast Glub, making an even weaker version that could affect humans based on SEN, training her body to be able to swim through the Void (this last one was what sometimes let her sneak into the Session when a proper 'Void' manifested, such as when a HT punched a hole in reality to escape to the Furthest Ring) and even altering her hair to use them like tentacles; the fish lady was just insane, and that was a pity, because Coco was getting tired of making tentacle porn jokes in her presence only to her kneed in the stomach.

On a side note, introducing Condy to Japan was the best idea ever. Kind of why she always set things up for Kimiko to discover Nagi's manga and doujin stashes, and even go as far as to take on a Japanese name over Valiet.

Man, that...that was just perfect. *Kiss*

...where was she?

Oh, right. The Doom Denizen. Yeah, Condy tended to infiltrate her Session through such means from time to time. Wouldn't surprise her if this was another of those times. And she wasn't sure what to feel about that. If it was her, then perfect, because after Finn's defeat (she loved having the Midnight Crew as agents, because otherwise Blaire's little celebration upon hearing the news wouldn't have reached her ears as quickly) then this was the last big hurdle towards determining whether or not this timeline was viable to attempt to set up her ASS *snicker* System. But Condy was also, well, Condy, and could just as easily send everything to hell. Things could easily turn sour for her plans with her running around setting up who knows what. The Troll Empress was aware of Coco's Unique nature, and even after over a million encounters, she still found ways to take Coco off guard. She suspected her tentacle buddies were giving her pointers, but either way, the fact she had to be careful when entering combat with her spoke of her sheer threat level. And while her current main body 'Nico' was quite strong (she was more or less at the level of a First Guardian at this point) it wasn't the strongest she had ever been; she couldn't put her chances of winning a 1 v 1 with Condy above 50%. Even if things got to the point her direct involvement was needed, she couldn't be certain Condy wouldn't force her out.

The Midnight Crew would be able to track her down and keep her occupied, but wouldn't be able to take her down. Franco in particular would be in danger of dying. Classless Time was a great tool when it was wielded by capable hands, and Franco's ability to link people's current selves to their dead selves in previous timelines was quite handy in instantly killing anyone. But Condy's...everything, was too big for that stunt to work. Her body, mind and soul had all been made resilient beyond their natural limits to the point warping reality around her concept was like trying to bend a steel road with your bare hands (and 0 STR). And stepping outside of the timestream would offer him no protection against someone who was so attuned to the concept of nothingness. She hadn't seen it first hand in any timeline, but it was easy to imagine Condy picking up Franco from his hiding place and crushing his skull with one hand. And while Coco prioritized plans over family, she didn't enjoy watching her children die, whatever her ex-husband said. Her baby boy was capable in other forms of assassination, and had in fact even trained himself specifically for instances in which he couldn't rely on his power, but even so Condy was too big an enemy for him. Not to mention, with Awakening starting any moment now, his time (pun intended) of being able to control his abilities was coming to an end. Without the game as a medium, Classless powers where impossible to wield.

Mr Skull also was a no-go. Even if Condy didn't have a bunch of measures against Cherubs set up, as any Tyrant of an empire that spanned galaxies ought to have in regards to a race of multi-planetary protectors/destroyers, the fact Finn was defeated meant there was a high chance he had been boxed. And if that was the case, then just hearing the song of Finn's evil side would bring out the Cherub's good side thanks to that whole mating habit of theirs. And while it was fun imagining a monster following after Finn's caged soul with the Cherub equivalent of a boner, Mr Skull's evil side was the one sympathetic to her goals. Having his nice brother come back from the dead and take over the body would force Coco to, once again, gather a bunch of her bodies to kick him out of the Session and into the Furthest Ring. And at that point it would be very hard to have everything set up in time for when he came back. At least the Squiddles would keep him entertained. Good or bad, the feud between the species was a constant, and Coco's mastery over Time made it somewhat easy to plan out the trajectory of the kick through the Furthest Ring and the time it would take the Cherub to come back.

At the very least she would have a good show before jumping ship.

Once again lamenting no one had taken the easy route and boxed the good side of Finn, she reminded herself it could be someone else in the Doom Denizen role. Wouldn't be the first time Blaire's organization had an agent pull this kind of stunt, and if she recalled correctly (which she did), Eloise was going for Doom this time around wasn't she? She always made sure to steel her mind when she did, so she definitely could be able to endure the Horrorterror influence as a Seer of Doom. Her mind wouldn't break, which was good, because if she was the Doom Denizen it would mean she and Marco would have to stay in the timeline, and she hadn't given up on that wedding Condy invasion be damned. Then again, that only worked if this timeline was the 'good' one. If it wasn't, man, it would be hard helping those two escape this time around. Well, she could always tip Marco off on how to stabilize the timeline, if she made sure not to leave anything that could serve as intelligence for the entities that would follow after her, but that would have to wait for her to see how things developed.

Overall, she hoped this time was the good one. She wasn't looking forward to repeating her social experiments all over again to sort out what variable could have been influenced by Dana. She wasn't mad at whoever had killed her, but she wished the self that had been living inside Ross had been able to find out more information before getting axed alongside the Sylph. That hard hurt; like having one of her fingers cut off, so she assumed whatever was used to kill Dana was anti-Unique. And while game Sessions without her sneaking around and sabotaging her would always be a good thing, Coco could only groan at the idea of doing it all over again.

But oh well, that's how things were. At the very least, she was safe in her certainty she could always continue working towards her goal.

After all, the only one who could stop Coco was Coco, and for that she should be thankful.

Because, as an edgy hedgehog had once said.

I'm all of me ; )

Meenah
"Finn." She thought, eyes narrowed.

It must have been the Bard of Heart. What else could be the cause of the Yellowblood's sudden movements? In what were the Medium equivalent of the hours before the sunrise Prospit suddenly began to wake in a rush of activity. The general population was mostly uninvolved, but even from her limited window into the comings and goings of the Dream Moon of Gold, Meenah Peixes could see that the armed forces were preparing for something.

It did not take her even a minute to figure out what.

"The traitor." She shouldn't be so surprised the Bard would share her plans with the enemy to save his own skin after being captured, but she had wrongly assumed he possessed a little bit of dignity. Clearly that had been a mistake, and the squeaking critter would beg her for death after she was through with him.

But first things first.

All in all, her main plan had been discovered. No denying that truth. It was still viable, all things considered, and most days she would have still gone on ahead with her intended course of action. But today wasn't most days. Meenah was confident of her ability to overcome whatever defenses would be set up against her; anything the Yellowblood could prepare in little less than a day wasn't something to be concerned with. What she was uncertain of, though, was her ability to infiltrate the Moon's core and accomplish her mission without falling in combat to the Admin afterwards. Whether or not Cocchiola knew she was here or not was a toss of the coin, and letting herself get tired out by the Players of SBURB MMO might as well be exactly what the damned woman was waiting for before launching her attack.

The Cherub? She could deal with him. Nico Cocchiola? She was confident in her ability to defeat her, but only if she came prepared and rested. The Admin wasn't a foe one fought freshly out of another combat.

So, as much as it hurt her pride to take other options due to cowardly betrayal, she had to try something else. Unfortunately for her, the Yellowblood wasn't a complete moron. He had logically gone ahead and reinforced what was now her designated lair as the Doom Denizen. Glancing into the room she had popped into after Shhgu'yewir's escape she could see Players and Carapacians ready to receive her with turrets and weapons at the ready. Again, that was a fight she could win, but she wasn't certain she could reach the First Guardian and immediately deal with Cocchiola if she showed up.

Unlike the Admin, Her Imperious Condescension wasn't fond of unnecessary risks. As impulsive as her dive into the Session might seem to outsiders, she had long considered it as an option ever since the Bard told her of the events that had transpired during the Undead Raid Quest in the game, and the nature of that mutant as a Sylph of Blood. Even if the Horrorterrors had tried to cut ties with her in favor of a candidate that was actively trying to stop Cocchiola in contrast to Meenah's more self-serving intentions, Shhgu'yewir hadn't been in contact with her brethren for centuries, trapped in her role as a Denizen. The newly freed 'Sussie' had seen no issue in allowing who she still thought an ally through the very Void she had created to escape. And now the Horrorterrors wouldn't trouble her anymore. After their involvement in the Vantablack fiasco came to light she had gained a leverage she was not intending to let go of any time soon. She was even going to send the information to the version of herself in whatever timeline Cocchiola went to next, if only out of spite for the Gods of the Furthest Ring.

But none of that mattered if she couldn't use the resources she possessed, and as things stood, her plan B was becoming as unfavorable an option as her plan A.

Meenah had been involved in the preparations for the game. She had participated in the imprisonment of the First Guardian and the setting up of all the measures meant to control her. Even if the mutant had freed the Thief, the First Guardian remained trapped inside the body she had had her Trolls craft thanks to its nature as a Sprite. It would be easy to break the time prison trapping it and have it self destruct. The release of power would make all the portals, both portable and permanent, that the Yellowblood and his Prospit relied on to move around overload. Chaos would ensue afterwards as Players and buildings teleported at random, and the Golden Moon would lose its ability to flee as it had been doing for days now. The forces of the Admin would catch up at last, and the purge of Prospit would resume, the Drones targeting all the rogue Players as well. But while that would certainly allow her forces to enter the Session with ease, there were risks involved in that stunt she wasn't eager to deal with. If the golden moon teleported into Derse, LOBAG, LOHAW or the Battlefield itself, that would doom them all to a timeline that couldn't be stabilized; at least not in time to avoid the most severe effects of the timestream rending itself apart. And while the chances of that happening where minuscule, why dance with them when the safer option presented itself in the form of the Tumor?

Sadly, even those small risks were no longer viable. With her main plan known and her backup plan likely deduced (truth be told, it was only logical to reinforce the Moon's main source of power after being informed of potential terrorist attacks), Meenah now had to resort to less reliable alternatives.

First, the Bard. She would have to find him and have words with him. And after fifteen or so minutes of intense words, she could start him down the path of paying back his debt to her.

Second, the girl. While she had very much the makings of an Empress, she was still too emotionally unstable, which made her an easy target. And if that mysterious Troll girl could be believed, Echidna's (supposed) recent death would have her in a particularly vulnerable state. And that could be exploited in her favor.

And then there was, of course, her leverage over the Horrorterrors. Not for the first time was she glad she had had the foresight to train with them in their arts. Even if it was a pale imitation, her recent acquisition could indeed be of use, if she managed to set up everything.

And for that she would have to use her agents. The recently conquered ones in Prospit were laying low as the Yellowblood combed through his forces in the look for spies and traitors. The mysterious Troll would be useful, so long as she was observed to keep her from trying to back stab Meenah as she suspected was her intention. And of course, her newly contracted agent would be called upon to aid in all of this. Thankfully, her side of the deal had arrived, and she had no shortage of missions for him. Way more than three.

The Condesce herself would have to lay low and prepare to act quickly as soon as she determined the most viable route of action. Perhaps even try to find of an alternative way to get to the Tumor, but she should start to think of it as a lost cause. Unless she obtained information that Cocchiola wasn't waiting for her to tire out before striking, she ought to rethink her plans.

But she sincerely doubted that would happen. The only one who truly knew what the Admin was planning was the Admin themselves.
