Personal Information

Alignment: Lawful-Neutral Good

Occupation: Beta Tester turned Player; Monado Swordsman
Personality: A determined youth whose heart of gold lies hidden under a sarcastic wit and sharp tongue, Maxim isn't one for wasting time, often "cutting" right to the point. He loathes injustice and trickery, seeing deceivers and traitors as the worst sort of both players and people. He often puts up a strong, cocky front, but he is really a sentimentalist and romantic, one who tries to find the good in everyone before the bad. He is the sort who never says "die", never turns his back on those in need, and never lets people see that he's afraid if he can help it without bouncing right back into the fray, never letting bad situations get him down.

Main Appearance: He is a 5' 8" semi-muscular human with peach skin, shaggy brown hair with a white streak at the front-left in the midst of his short bangs, and bright blue eyes. He commonly wears a black or dark gray exercise jacket with a thick collar and light gray buckle-straps to secure it over a simple dark blue muscle shirt, dark blue or black cargo pants with a brown belt with detachable pouches, black boots with dark blue trim that have attached Hover Boots systems, and a magnetic shoulder holster system meant to be able to have more magnetic pieces attached to help him carry his weaponry. He has a shoulder and arm plating set he attaches to his jacket when headed into hostile territory, and wears fingerless brown gauntlet-gloves with silver metal backings. When needed, he can pull on a suit of black, silver and dark blue armor to help protect himself better in heavy combat.

Fears: Being helpless

Hobbies: Sparring, playing stringed instruments, drawing/sketching

Likes: Pizza, steak, fried chicken, salmon, chocolate, gala or red delicious apples

Dislikes: Sour food, most green veggies

History

History: An average guy with your average life, Maximilian "Maxim" D. Thomas was considered a good kid by all who met him for the first fourteen years of his life. He got good grades in school from First Grade on into High School's start, and enjoyed spending time outdoors with his parents. However, in the midst of Winter Break before the second semester of Ninth Grade, a horrible accident befell Maxim. While riding home with an older friend, the car both Maxim and his friend were riding in lost control and crashed, flipped completely over upside down and twisted and crushed in many areas. The damage to the vehicle, however, was nothing compared to the physical and emotional loss for Maxim. In the crash, he lost his best friend, and also lost the use of both his legs.

Since the accident, Maxim has grown a bit colder and quieter, but has managed to maintain his old attitude nevertheless, believing his friend wouldn't have wanted him to give up on life. He tries not to let his frustrations at his lack of mobility get to him or show around others, but it is still there. While he still enjoys time with his family, he's preferred recently to partake in digital entertainment in the form of video games. Among his various other gaming experiences, he was given an opportunity too good to pass up: to test out a new Virtual Reality headset system known as the "Nerve Master" and a game designed specially for it: Xenoblade Online, a spinoff of the popular Xenoblade Chronicles video game. Having played Xenoblade, he readily agreed to test the device and game as a beta tester, and soon found himself immersed in a world unlike any other, with an amazing extra bonus: in the digital world of the video game, Maxim could walk and run again. Embracing the experience, he took to the beta of Xenoblade Online with a passion few others could match, quickly becoming one of the most skilled players in the game. For his assistance in testing the game, he - along with four-hundred-and-ninety-nine other beta testers - was given a special deal to both repay him for his help and to provide an extra edge to the game: a pre-order Limited Edition copy of the game with a fully customized variation of the Xenoblade signature weapon, the Monado, fully uploaded as a default weapon for whatever Avatar character he might create for the real game, with a new Nerve Master system provided as well to allow him to play the game with his new bonus immediately at launch. Still wishing for full mobility and eager to experience the full game, Maxim gladly took the company behind the system and game up on their offer, and has since been preparing to enter the virtual world of Xenoblade Online with great anticipation.
