Humanity has made many advancements in science and technology, turning science fiction into science itself. However, much of this power, knowledge, and wealth is held by major corporations and their children companies spread across the globe.

As a result, some schools obtain what is called a Mascot License. Originally the test was simply to make a mascot to be entered into a half-time show for the championship league between accepted academies. However, many corporations saw these hometown mascots earning popularity and also marketing value. They decided to start funding many of these schools, granting new tech and wealth in exchange for the intellectual rights of their mascots.

Nowadays, being a mascot is akin to being a modern day superhero. Suits that can be upgraded with jetpacks or flamethrowers. And the tasks now required of these anonymous young heroes is often grueling. In addition to raising team spirit, often times they are asked to settle difficult challenges. Working for corporate interests or performing heroic deeds to boost their ratings. To be a mascot is no easy challenge.

And every corporation has their own personal challenge to try. Mascots are thrown through a rigorous process, but success means a valuable future secured for their home town and school. The only cost of course being the anonymity that comes with a mascot.

Alias: Spelling Bee

Gender: Female

Origin: Primrose Academy

Mascot Year: 3rd Year

Character: Hailing from the rich legacy of Primrose's library, Spelling Bee is one who searches and yearns for information like a honey bee searching for pollen. Her persona is based on a connected relationship with her school, with a focus on community. Surfacing from Primrose Academy, Spelling Bee has done great work in environmental research, which is why her biggest sponsor is energy conglomerate Proto-Synth, who specializes in creating state of the art generators and greenhouses.

Being a winner for her home town, Spelling Bee was chosen to act as the coach for the new candidates for Plymouth Prepatory Academy.

Strengths:

- The Sting: By winning a contract from gauss-cannon manufacturer, Gause Guns, Spelling Bee was outfitted with an upgraded tail that allows her to fire a small projectile rocket from her bottom. This can both be an entertaining firework or a weapon.

- Ambition: Spelling Bee, much like the person who plays her, is brave and determined in getting what she wants. While she is community oriented, her competitiveness towards other schools involves a ruthless determination.

- Observant: Spelling Bee is an opportunist. Whether it's a potential contract or a potential win, Spelling Bee takes her time to spot a weakness, and combined with her ambitious, is guaranteed to expose it.

Weaknesses:

- The suit can hover, but the technology is extremely bugged and Spelling Bee more or less can jump, but any further control could lead to a propelled crash.

- Insecurity: For all her ambitious, the Spelling Bee has caved in before about questions for her own career. She's entirely focused on her community, but the exhaustive work of a mascot has shown that she has no idea what to decide for herself, or if she could even trust herself.

- Physical weakness: The Spelling Bee may spot openings, but sometimes throwing her between a rock and a hard place has seen her crumble to a pulp.

Plymouth Prepatory Academy is centered in the temperate, mountainous region of Plymouth County. A town known for its pristine Peralta River that flows through Jericho Valley and into the Sandler Bay that surrounds Plymouth and Jocelyn. The town itself was originally created with the discovery of oil in the region. Now, the town is a rather unremarkable sight for most visitors who pass through to get to the sunnier Jocelyn County on the other side of the Jericho Valley.

Plymouth Prepatory was founded by Steven Henry Leonard as a last ditch effort to bring back scholars into the town. Although a few stayed, the town was used mainly as a missile hub for developing prototype weapons. As a result, Gause Guns, Martin Munitions, Dynamex Systems, and even a paramilitary corporation still work around Plymouth. Plymouth is still, however, a destination stop for its famous waffles and caramel apples.

The school itself has fallen far from its founder's perceived idealistic vision of explorers braving the trepid depths of the unknown. Plymouth Prepatory has been marred by scandals. The most recent and perhaps disheartening scandal was that many of the former coaches of the school were poaching players and sending them to other academies in exchange for a finder's fee. As a result, Plymouth's sports teams have done less than stellar in recent years.

On top of that, there is a war between the community about discontinuing some of Plymouth's most tantalizing treats in exchange for healthier options. With Plymouth Prepatory at the head of this new venture, many students have resorted to blackmarket sweets sold between hallways and lockers. Contraband comes in many forms of candy apples, waffles, hot chocolate, and even carbonated beverages.

The school however does boost a decent group of educated students who are hoping for jobs in some of the other weapon-manufacturing companies. Although they haven't accomplished much, they have been able to launch a few weather balloons with sponsorship from Dynamex Tactical Meteorological Service or D-TAMS for short.

Although the school's proudest achievement would be their tiered apple orchard. This orchard is maintained by a dedicated group of alumni and students who use the apples to help boost Plymouth's sweet factory.

With recent changes within the school's athletics division, their sports teams have been carrying them throughout the season. However, winning alone has not brought back the school spirit and for the school itself, having other corporations looking into their town could usher in a new age of progress.

The Competition:

Challenges are created and monitored by interested corporations. Each mascot will individually take on their personal challenges at the same time. Some challenges are easy or are simple public events while others could be spontaneous or even dangerous.

Most mascots will start with little to no special abilities or tech. That tech is earned through contracts secured by interested corporations. Meanwhile, judges will be rating the mascots on their progress and score them accordingly.

The winning mascot becomes the representative for the championship of their home town and will compete with other mascots during half-time shows as well as other scheduled events off-season.
