Name: He Zhu
Courtesy Name: Yinggang
Age: 23
Gender: Male
Occupation: General
Personality & Background: He Zhu is ambitious and determined; he seeks to build on his ancestors’ legacy no matter the cost. He’s an incredibly competent tactician but knows little of administration. His family was once the warlord leaders of the state of Jian, ending with his great-great-great-grandfather who surrendered to the King of Hua and later became crucial in unifying the empire. In an appraisal, He Zhu has been described as been compared to the ancient Cheng Dynasty; being able to conquer the world, but only for one lifetime.

In contrast to his sister, He Zhu never attended a formal school, and spent his youth tutored by his father as he traveled around the west combating barbarians and rebels. A renowned general, He Xie had been appointed the General Who Secured the North. However, just a month ago, He Zhu’s father was killed in an ambush by the rival warlord Dian Hui. In revenge, the young general has gathered what is left of his father’s loyalists along with a small militia. He hopes to prove to the nation that the He clan is the strongest of them all.

Name: He Xing
Courtesy Name: Yingliu
Age: 21
Gender: Female
Occupation: Administrator
Personality & Background: As a girl, He Xing enjoyed reading and learning above all, something that often got her scolded by her very traditional aunt. When she reached adolescence, she persistently badgered her father, seeking higher levels of education. Eventually, He Xie conceded that the western frontier, frequently subject to barbarian incursion, was no place for a daughter. As administrator of Wushui, he simply altered records slightly, and the supposedly male He Xing was sent to study at the Imperial Academy in Baoshi.

In contrast to her brother, He Xing has little military inclination, instead being one of the top students at the Imperial Academy. Having mastered the Four Classics and land management in her studies, she’s a highly skilled administrator, in this way a perfect complement to her brother.
