Zakai- Remaining on F09 - Next to Vilhelmina, Targetting GG5

Zakai found himself distracted by Vilma's attention and was rewarded with a strike landing on his bodyguard. Anger flooding him as he watched the bright red begin to spill from her wound, he slid his sword back into it's sheath he watched as Hayden missed and then his guard also missed. It was a rather tricky beast, Zakai noticed but it's flight pattern and it's dodge was as predictable as a bird of prey. He glanced over at the explorer while he pulled out an arrow to strike the gargoyle with, shaking his head.

"Don't give up Hayden. A miss every now and then is worth the hits; better then not trying at all." He pointed out as he raised his bow towards the trees where the gargoyle was currently flying. "Yes Vilhelmina, I see it. It will pay for the injury it has given you." He growled, taking a deep soothing breath and reaching for that inner flame. He fed his emotions into it until his mind was calm, and then he loosed the first arrow, quickly followed by a second. He watched with satisfaction as both arrows landed and smiled at Vilma for a brief moment before keeping an eye out for any other attackers.

"Are you alright, Vilhelmina?" Zakai inquired, holding his bow tightly in hand, though concern for his guard had him more distracted by her then paying attention to anything attacking anyone else. He felt proud to have finally hit something, as annoying as it had been to miss striking the earlier foes down with his arrows.

Al was hard pressed not to laugh at Diana's unhappiness at being covered in blood and guts. To him it was entirely amusing. He was glad when she switched attitudes to praise Grieves for his good work as well. He nodded in agreement, and was happy that the butler was getting the praise he deserved. It was amusing though, when the second eye appeared and Grieves attacked it, he made sure to take all the guts and glory from that one, protecting Diana for more grime though it was already too late. Itching to get into the action, Al sought an enemy for himself and in that brief moment of seeking, he lost sight of Diana. Alexander looked around, beginning to panic since he could not see the Senator.

"Blasted woman, she should know better then to run off into the forest without me to Protect Her." Alexander grumbled as he suddenly caught her voice echoing deeper ingo the woods. Goosebumps ran across his skin and he shivered, hand gripping so tightly to his axe his knuckles were turning white. And then he saw the mass of monsters coming down on Diana. Rushing forward, he attacked the one nearest to him, swiping at the thing with his axe and catching it by surprise. It was not so easily struck the second time, though, and dodged Alexander's attack. Adrenaline pumping through him, Alexander still registered he was fighting bones. Reanimated bones of someone who had once been living. "Do not worry my friend, I will put your tainted bones to rest once and for all!" Al bellowed out, again in an attempt to hide the fear creeping up his spine as he stared into the soulless eye sockets of the monster in front of him.

Era- Moving 4 Spaces to G10 - Following Lamont

Era was not afraid but she was easily distracted by all the monsters. How could such things exist in this world? But then, how could they as humans exist in this world? Existence was just something that they all had some right to, though Era would not let the evil things attack Lamont or Mordi or Ava. Her zoned out gaze drifted through the dark woods and was mildly surprised to find herself alone, more so when a large winged beast was bearing down on her. She nimbly dodged it's attacks and was about to fight back and prove her worth when arrows struck the creature and it fell to the ground, dead. She poked at the thing with her dagger before looking up at an archer with a basically familiar face.

"I am." Era replied with a nod, unbothered by the fact she had just been attacked. It hadn't struck her so she was fine. Era had a decision on her hands... she could remain with the archer and help if he is attacked, she could follow after the lords kind maid, or follow after the Lord Lamont himself. With the way Rakhill had struck down the monster, she felt he could defend himself well enough, and Rosa was surrounded by fighters. So she followed after Lamont, remaining dutifully at his side in case he was attacked. She did not resent Rakhill for killing the monster but neither was she grateful; she could have fought back, she felt, and so wasn't happy to have the chance taken from her. Still, she remained at Lamont's side, observant in her attempt to protect the man.

Eydis Dione Artemesia

Location: Cell U,06 to P,09
With: Fridith, Lirim, and Roth...then Cal'Vina and Ulysses
Magelight 3/5 turns

Though her newfound allies were doing brilliantly against the nightmarish hoard, it seemed just as soon as one enemy had been struck down another rose to take its place. Thus it was more imperative than ever that they find the one summoning the monsters and cut off the stream's never-ending flow at the source. While Eydis was still recovering from the first gargoyle attack, from behind slimy tendrils of darkness enveloped her, the culprit being by far the most disgusting creature of them all. Face scrunched up in disgust, the Troubadour made to step away from the mogall but before she could gather Urha's rein she was distracted by the halfbreed beside her.

She was taken aback by the way his harsh words seemed to contradict with his actions. Though he was still (she thought) unnecessarily biting in his speech, the fact that he was making an attempt to protect her did not go unnoticed. Despite her misgivings, Eydis was rather touched. Perhaps there really was something salvageable in his only half-human soul.

The moment was ruined however as the halfbreed got a bit too sure of himself, trying to squeeze in a second throw and missing lamely. The smallest of smiles broke across the serene face.

"A victory would be more dearly won if you watched your language," Eydis chided, and while she might have launched into a lengthier time-inappropriate lecture, she was once more interrupted, this time by laughter from Lirim.

"And the name isn't 'flower,' archer, nor is it 'wench,'" she elucidated, facing each man in turn and, for Ord's sake, somehow controlling herself to resist a more colorful form of address for the halfbreed, "It is Eydis, a name I worked hard to earn for myself, so please be sure to use it well."

While the Troubadour was getting herself caught up in overdue introductions, Fridith at last dispatched of the nasty gargoyle who had first attacked her.

”Eydis, beware, there is one on the rocks above you!”

"Right, thanks for watching over me, Fridith."

This time Eydis's smile was both more visible and more genuine. She had been reluctant to accept even the pegasus rider's assistance at first, but since everything going on around her had blinded her from the mogall gearing up for a second attack, Fridith's intervention was appreciated. Eydis began to at last move neatly out of the way when as she leaned over to turn Urha's reins she noticed his tears tremoring strangely. While not the most intelligent of animals, Urha had a very strong sense of hearing which after carrying a busybody like Eydis for so long had become trained at picking up cries of distress.

"Kristen!"

It was somewhat faint, but enough to draw Eydis's attention to a pair of figures partially hidden by distant trees. With thoughts of the cursed Necromancer still seared into her mind, the Troubadour didn't hesitate to plunge ahead, worry over the destruction that the Ordless beasts might be causing allowing her to ignore the chilling pain left from the eerie eyeball's attack.

The source of the commotion were two men, seemingly from a nearby village, who were being set upon by a zombie. Well, Eydis couldn't do much about that; they were all in too close of range to be able to use her bombs. But as the soft glow of the Magelight shimmered off of white steed and shining armor, Eydis could at least bring about a sense of hope, lending Ord's greatest power to the suffering men.

"Are you two alright? There is a Necromancer at work in these woods, calling forth these monsters. My allies are just over there, we can help protect you. Though I am but a healer, if there is anything that I can assist you with all you need do is ask."

At this Eydis got a better look at the two men. At least neither of them seemed to need her healing powers, though one of them was quite elderly and probably shouldn't be wandering in such a dangerous area. Though Eydis couldn't gaze at him long, the brown creases of his skin bringing images of the past to dark like shadows across her face. She quickly shook them aside, addressing the man directly. Her voice did nothing to betray the reason behind her seconds' hesitation, being instead imbued with all the kind confidence of a real knight.

"I have room to carry you atop Urha here, if you are weary of walking or troubled by these beasts of the night."

Action spent to talk to boss.

"It appears my charge is now my body guard." he commented upon the approach of the young woman, she seemed to be adamant on staying beside him, while it made an easier time for him to keep watch on her, he worried she might follow him abit to far... the thought of such a cute little... hmm... whats a good nickname for her? Some parents, even though she wasn't HIS child, gave their kid's nicknames... So why shouldn't he? What suited the young lady best... or was simply to cute to not call her such?

...Nothing came to mind... A thought for later he supposed.

"Stay close my dear, don't go to far, follow when you can and I shall clear the way for us, keep an eye on our rear alright sweet heart?" Well.. that one wasn't bad... not to great though. He needed some work on it. (@RubyRose if you'd like to do a Era-Lamont support I'm good for it)

Now.. it was time to... wait... that... figure! THAT POWER! Oh he could feel it, the dark energy... THAT was the one! he had to act quickly, the others were already upon her and he could not let them do this alone! A necromancer was a difficult to bring down... and even more so to capture. It might have knowledge about this land... and being a foreign necromancer means she is all the more a valuable subject to claim. Hopefully it knows how to take a hit or two, because this.. is going to hurt.

"With me Era!" he called to his young charge, and new bodyguard as he rushed forward to meet this interesting specimen.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Hold fast Diana, I am with you! ...And you seem to need a bath." he called to the woman with abit of a... reel as he approached the area, surrounded in undead... figures the Necromancer would have them near... but nothing abit of magic wouldn't solve, extra range was handy in such situations.
Now.. time for negotiations... He brought in a breath to speak to the woman... his eyes scanning her up and down for any movements. A pity she was a heathen, she might've made a good mage... perhaps he can convince her to get back on the path; best he planned his words carefully.
"In the name of the goddess I beseech you, lay down your arms and let your servants rest. I can promise you fair judgement and treatment for this crime. No doubt you have went through a lot of trouble to gain this power, but this power comes at a serious cost, a cost one should not take lightly. Another path can be taken and we of Neth are not as barbaric as to judge you wrongly like the fiends of taros who pursue us." In truth, he was planning this on the run, the usual case for necromancers is that they were tossed out for some reason or another, it's often a sad tale... of course you might get those who simply wish for destruction, but those you can usually tell from a glance.
This woman didn't seem as rabid from a glance, she seemed... new to this... he could tell from the creatures themselves, they were simple... weaker then what his master and he took on. Mostly his master mind. Perhaps giving her a chance to return to the straight and narrow might help?
And if not, well, lightning and blade are always good at convincing people to see your... point~!
Mordimort, checking in.
"5000...!" she yelped and then quieted herself for a moment, looking around. "...Thats more then I've ever had, aside from at home of course. or it can... make people stronger... hmm... Decisions..." she thought on it as if it was her prize to keep. Which honestly... finders keepers right? "...Hey Ava... you think having weird people from the back woods would be good to have with the... prize we have?" she whispered to the woman, obviously having some of her misstrust and thrifty personality rubbing off on the young woman.
"I mean sure, reward... but... sticky fingers right?"
Eydis's lecture on watching his language only made the green vagabond narrow his eyes. "Bite me," he replied clearly and slowly, pronouncing every consonant possible. His mind couldn't make the logical leap that Eydis was simply telling him to have some class. To him, there was no such thing as class on the battlefield. Only blood and guts, victors and losers.
However, he was looking a whole lot like a loser at the moment. Lirim and Fridith had noticed his blunder and he had some choice words for both of them, especially the rider. Lirim was no stranger, and Roth was a poor sport when it came to teasing, so the unfamiliar knight would get the worst of it. At this point even Eydis, who had given him a name at least was on better terms with him, despite her prissy talk and the look he'd seen so many times in the eyes of others that she kept giving him. But before he could unleash his verbal assault, the rider got hit by a gargoyle's javelin. Roth sadistically and forcefully guffawed at the display and crudely commented, "Serves you right!" He readied his spear to take on the giant eye in the hills, but when Eydis rushed off he lost sight of the thing. "Fucking hell," he growled.
The healer wasn't hard to track, what with the big glowing staff, and Roth, being semi-trained in tactical warfare and also in possession of a little thing called common sense knew that a lone woman plunging into the darkness with nothing but a well-lit staff meant that she could potentially be splattered all over the forest floor within the next minute. Being the vengeful bastard he is, he left Lirim and Fridith to fend for themselves with a few words. "Since my aim is sooo untrue," he mocked in a posh voice unfitting of his rocky voice, "I think I'll leave the rest to the bloody professionals~" He winked at Lirim and made a rude gesture toward Fridith before he began his pursuit of Eydis.
Meanwhile, Ulysses was quite frantically rushing ahead into danger. As he did so, he could hear the low groaning of a zombie near him, but why be scared of such a weak beast that could barely even manage to pull itself together for an attack? Cal'vina caught up to him and the old man rolled his eyes as he talked down to him. "Rushing off into the woods is a sure fire way to end your life,you cannot help that girl if you are dead yourself!" The old man's face twisted into a grimace. "You young folk are all the same! By the time you learned to babble I'd killed more of these things than you could imagine!" the stubborn old man informed the merchant.
As the merchant progressed further, he commented on Kristen's being a "little sprout," and he rubbed the back of his head anxiously. "Cal'vina I think--"
"Are you two alright? There is a Necromancer at work in these woods, calling forth these monsters. My allies are just over there, we can help protect you. Though I am but a healer, if there is anything that I can assist you with all you need do is ask."
Ulysses turned around to face the voice, blade raised out of habit, but he lowered it quite quickly when he realized the woman was friendly. Halfway through the woman's speech he was tuning her out and instead finally picking up on all of the other voices in the forest, none too far from the other. The light that the rider brought with her helped his old eyes adjust a lot easier, and he seemed preoccupied with looking around as opposed to listening.
"I have room to carry you atop Urha here, if you are weary of walking or troubled by these beasts of the night." Ulysses didn't even realize the woman was talking to him until his 360 degree search lead his eyes back to her, and he spotted that she was looking back. He scoffed and growled, "Don't patronize me woman! Help me find my granddaughter, she must be here somewhere!" It was then that the green loudmouth arrived on the scene, just in time to hear Eydis' offer and Ulysses' refusal. "Hey!" the elf barked. "You're only in the way out here you old bastard! Get on that horse before I break your legs and put you on that horse!" Ulysses responded by raising his blade and yelling back, "I'd like to see you try ya damn halfbreed mongrel!" Roth, being the sensitive soul he is, responded by raising his own weapon, cracking his neck, and replying in nothing short of absolute rage. "YOU ASKED FOR IT!!"
The situation was only escalating from bad to worse to FUBAR. The forest was incredibly loud now, lit with the battle cries of many souls. This was the absolute worst night for her to try summoning Rend's minions. There was way too much potential for unintended casualties. As if she wasn't already beating herself up over deciding to actually give necromancy a whirl.
She jumped at the sound of a voice far too close to her, even closer than the one that had initially spotted her. And unless he was talking to her newly deceased Bonewalker, courtesy of the giant man with an axe but a few paces away, she had to assume that she was the one being addressed by the other voice's...flowery speech. She pulled her hood down lower to conceal her face even more, though it was getting hard seeing as the fools had come so close. Neth! Then...if they're not Tarosians...then there's hope for me yet! There was still time to seek their help but then, a familiar voice rang throughout the forest, and she froze solid with fear. "Gr-Grandfather?" she whispered aloud. In the distance she could see him, well lit by a woman on a horse, preparing himself for battle with a green elf while a lazy zombie stood nearby, completely braindead.
Kristen lowered her hood even more and gulped. If she got caught by Ulysses, surely her punishment would be far worse than even the Tarosians could dream of. She cleared her throat and disguised her voice to sound like that of a stereotypical, high pitched, insane witch. "Foolish mortal!" she responded to Lamont, cringing at her own ridiculous impression of a powerful necromancer. But now that she had spoken she had to keep going on with it. "You dare to stand against a servant of Rend!? You will...You will regret that decision!" Shit shit shit. "Unless! Unless you can defeat each of my...my umm...really evil thralls, you cannot hope to defeat me! Uh..." Kristen tried to think of a necromancer's name on the spot. "Ren...Ren...Renkalanora! Yes! You cannot defeat me, the great Renkalanora! EE HEE HEE HEE HEE!"
She struggled to collect all of her books and such in her satchel as she prepared to flee. She hadn't a clue what goddess the man had mentioned, but if he was from Neth she was guessing it wasn't the likes of any of the Sietic Gods...after all a proper Siet would have mentioned all of them. Either way she knew one thing: whoever the metrosexual man was, he looked quite holy, and that spelled bad news. On top of that...as far she knew the only way to send the monsters back to wherever they came from was to either kill her or kill all of them. And clearly, she'd rather have the Assembly do the latter.
"We are certainly selling it." To Ava, it was a no brainer. Sell the Energy Drop. The warriors of their group could always train and practice to get stronger, they needn't use artificial means. What they did need to do was eat, and if they wanted less of Hayden's terrible bear jerky and more of Rose's delicious sweets then they would need gold. As far she was concerned, they didn't even have an Energy Drop, they had 5000 gold.
The idea of the strangers they would be rescuing being thieves had struck Ava as well. Yet she turned her head toward her young assistant and merely replied, "Well you aren't here simply to look pretty, are you my dear? I believe making sure no one steals anything from the carriage is in your exact job description, isn't it~?" she asked with a falsely sweet tone and smile, patting the girl on the head patronizingly. "The Drop will be safe up here with me...you make sure that the fools don't steal anything from the cabin or disturb the prisoner, understand?" Ava lifted up the slit between the driver's seat and the cabin and instructed Mordimort, "Like so--wait." Ava whipped around fully and stared in the slit into the empty cabin. "Where's the prisoner!?"
Talking to the neck romancer. @SirBlazeALot
"...You are really new to this aren't you?" speaking under his breath Lamont looked at her like she had three heads. Sure she was telling the truth in the matter, they had to defeat her thralls. Once summoned they were simply existing under her guidance until either they all died, or she died. In truth the latter was something he'd rather avoid... those at the start of the dark path can still be brought into the light, it is those who revel in the darkness that deserve no mercy.
Deciding to bite the hook for a moment, he took all his willpower and force himself not to laugh. "Ah the great and powerful Renkalanora! Yes I have heard of him, he is the grand slaughterer of the deathwinds yes? Not known far or wide simply due to the fact all who look upon him and his creations have their very souls sucked out from their bodies!" he bit his lip slightly in a major attempt to stop himself from laughing.
The zombie that was between the two continued to stare out into the blankness of space, the meer fact it wasn't doing anything save for stare more mindlessly then it usually did told wonders of her meager power... Actually it was kind of silly to see this.
Renka-- Kristen, raised her eyebrows, amazed that the name she bullshitted already belonged to a powerful necromancer, a male no less. And apparently he'd managed to slaughter the "deathwinds" whoever or whatever those were. As if no one had already noticed, she hugged her books to her chest in a moot attempt to conceal her breasts and concurred, "YES! The deathwinds suffer greatly in my um...SOUL SANCTUM! Where I keep the souls of those that were foolish enough to face me!" Nailed it.
"But why here? Might I ask? Why would your glorious power be wasted on a small stretch of wood? there is a village near by... do you mean ill upon them?" Kristen scoffed, and broke character immediately, speaking in her normal voice for a fraction of a second before correcting herself. "Of--OF COURSE NOT! Th-They aren't worth my time! The ghouls you see before you are but a fraction of my power! A sliver of it so tiny that your feeble mind can't even process how small a fraction it is because, because, I merely needed them to kill a pack of simple orcs! But you fools have ruined everything and now you must suffer the consequences! I will use the full extent of my power to do what the rebels are too afraid to do! I'll crush the Empire and all of their allies and restore Wynda to its former glory! And all who stand in my way, Tarosian, or not will be damned!"
A pink bolt of light came traveling from the west, and Kristen ducked in time to miss Rosa's Love attack. She laughed triumphantly. "EE HEE HEE! You hypocritical fools never cease to astound me! You call lightning from the sky with no rain, destroy another's free will for your own benefit, use their very essence to recover your own poor health, and you still believe you have the right to call my power unnatural, unholy, and immoral?! HAH!" With a wave of her arm, Kristen channeled all of the magical energy in her soul to send the full force of her undead army at our heroes. "You peons deserve EVERYTHING coming to you!" And with that, Kristen turned on her heel and made a break for it. Not before tripping over a root, shrieking in her normal tone of voice, and falling on her face. She quickly scrambled to her feet with her face redder than a Mogall's tendril, and fled into the darkness.
Before the epic battle between Ulysses and a random green elf who just showed up out of no where and started cursing him out could begin, the old man caught some of "Renkalanora's" speech. Despite the incredibly insane and stereotypical evil voice she was using, he recognized the ideology. Kristen was always going on about how necromancy isn't so different than other forms of magic, and she'd earned herself a hard smack in the face from Ulysses a few times for it. He knew he should've burned those books but...they were trophies from younger days. And now the necromancers that he'd slain had come back to haunt him full force. She'd finally gone over the edge. "I don't have time for you!" the old man growled, but before he could go scold his granddaughter one of her zombies finally decided to get its shit together and scratched him. "Ugh! Ord almighty!" The old man winced and sliced at the creature, managing to damage it but we all know how damaging zombies goes.
Brendan heard Ava's call and she may as well have been an angel. The vulnerary had started to kick in and he could feel himself returning to tip top shape. He was so happy, he practically wanted to jump up in the air and click his heels. The poor guy couldn't help but laugh with joy as he ran up to the back of the carriage. He swung open the door, and though the women peeking through the slit looked quite distressed, it didn't bother Brendan in the slightest. He shut the doors and took a seat in the cabin, sighing with relief and throwing his head back. "Whew! You guys don't know how much this means to me! I thank you from the bottom of my heart truly. I'm positive I have something back at the village I can repay your kindness with! You won't regret this!" Brendan seemed cowardly, but that wasn't really the case. He just wasn't a fighter. He'd never aspired to be anything of the sort. However, he wouldn't let his own trepidation cause Fran and Ulysses to meet their end. "My friend is just over yonder by those mountains! Please, help her too!"
But Fran didn't need help from no bitch ass carriage. Being alone in the darkness? Not a problem for the bravest wannabe knight in Wynda. Did you see what she did to that Mogall? Yeah about that...Mogalls aren't exactly the toughest foes are they? They don't wield weapons, and they're more sensitive than an SJW. Gargoyles were a different story, as Fran would come to find out as one pierced her shoulder clean, pinning her to the ground with a vile shriek overpowering her own pained scream. It yanked its lance out of the villager and flapped into the sky expectantly. Fran struggled to her feet and gave the gargoyle the evilest eye she could muster in her current state. "You think you're so tough! Hiding in the shadows like the cowardly beast you are! I won't fall here today!" With that, the mighty Fran clashed blades with the Gargoyle.
Zakai completely misunderstood what Hayden had meant when he asked himself why he even bothered. He never was the toughest fighter, and never prided himself in being powerful. For the entirety of his life, he'd gotten by on knowledge, luck, and running away. Hayden was bothered by the fact he was actually sympathizing with these people, and helping them out of empathy and not his own personal gain. He'd sworn off such things after prison. But after giving himself a good talking to, and spotting the necromancer, he was back in business. Cheeky smile and all.
In truth, Hayden didn't give a damn about necromancy, because it wasn't something he could easily exploit. He'd dated a necromancer for a while in Palenia, and instead of teaching him anything, she tried to sacrifice him to some god he'd never heard of. Clearly she failed, and since then, he lumped necromancy in with the other large piles of shit that he didn't care about. Whether someone wanted to partake in it or not didn't matter to him unless there was an adventure somewhere in their actions, and that clearly wasn't the case with this woman. However, he knew what would happen to her if the Assembly got their hands on her. He regretted handing those ropes over to Grieves to contain Briri because...well...the poor gal hadn't been very compliant and so she was held against her will for way longer than Hayden expected. It was probably foolish to trust the Fuccini with the concept of freedom, and he wouldn't make the same mistake with the Palenians.
"Don't bother with her, Lamont," Hayden said as he approached the Vicar in the trees. "Lets take out these things, leave her be, and get you home. You and Rosa still owe me cookies though." He opened his tome, and lackadaisically cast two Shine spells, the first completely missed its mark and the second was dodged by the weak underling. Hayden snickered and then broke into full on laughter. "Wow! I'm pretty terrible aren't I? I mean the other guy had wings but this? There's no excuse for this~" Hayden shut his tome, sighed with satisfaction, and added, "Don't worry, Zakai says the more I miss, the stronger the strike I make'll be."
Ava was breathing like a bull in heat before Brendan entered the carriage. She could barely hear what he was saying, all she could think about was what the prisoner could have taken with her before she left. "That bitch," she growled under her breath right after Brendan had finished asking the two to rescue Fran. "Excuse me?" asked the villager. Ava snapped out of it and smiled sweetly. "That's rich! I said, 'that's rich' because we couldn't possibly accept a gift simply for doing the right thing~!" Ava laughed heartily and gripped the reigns. "Don't worry, we'll get your friend in a jiffy~!" Ava leaned in to Mordimort quickly and whispered, "Remember, keep your eye on him." She snapped the reigns and headed eastward.
Soon Fran came into view, locked in a desperate battle with a gargoyle. "Oh gods..." Ava groaned in agony, before calling out to the woman, "Yoo-hoo~! Over here, love! Safety awaits~!" Her voice was shaky with anxiety as her eyes followed the gargoyle's every movement. "Mordi, get your tome ready, dear," She said through her grit, smiling teeth, nudging the Branded girl rapidly. Every flap of the gargoyle's wings had her closer to snapping the reigns and leaving without the woman. "NEVER! I WON'T SURRENDER TO SUCH A COWARDLY FOE!" the woman yelled back valiantly through intense grunts as she fought off the beast. Ava completely lost her shit and shrieked, "GET IN THE DAMN CARRIAGE WOMAN!!"
”Tyson, I will have you know that no one could ever ask for a better butler. I owe you big time already. But sadly I have to put you in bigger peril already, I trust that you have my back.” Grieves was taken aback by the usage of his first name. He wasn't used to hearing it from anyone other than his parents. But he always appreciated a little bit of flattery. Who didn't like to know they were doing well? The brief look of shock was evident on his face until it was replaced by his usual stoic depression. "Of course Madam. We'll protect you with our lives." He bowed and followed Diana into the fray and toward the necromancer.
Listening to the witch talk was like listening to a mad woman. But her beasts seemed...idle...it was almost eerier than having them coming at you. The sheer fact that a person, in fact a single person, could control all of these beings sent chills down Grieves' spine. The creatures didn't spring into action until the woman who was clearly impersonating a powerful necromancer made a break for it. Diana had skillfully dodged an incoming arrow, and Grieves followed up by getting behind the creature and punching it so damn hard it fell into a pile of bones. "Finally, I have managed to defeat something that is not filled with...with..." Grieves wiped the chunky remains of an organ of some form off of his suit. "...with whatever unholy mess that was."
Zakai- Moving 5 Spaces to K09 - Next to Diana, Targetting Z5
Oblivious to pretty much everything outside of attacking, Zakai watched as his attacks landed and the monsters were taken down until none were left in the area. He could still hear battle raging among other comrades, though, and began to head in the direction of the sounds though he was careful to keep an eye out for any enemies that might suddenly swoop from the trees and attack. Seeing Diana, the Senator of Fuccino and someone he had found respect for, he quickly moved to her aid upon seeing a nasty undead creature rather too near her for his liking. Not that Diana needed protecting. Far from it from what Zakai had witnessed. But seeing as her guards were currently busy, he felt it not a bad idea to step in and aid her.
Moving to stand next to her, hoping Vilhelmina had followed though he had just suddenly disappeared from her side, he knocked two successive arrows and watched with satisfaction as they landed, one after another, within the zombie. Having heard Hayden's comment through the trees as he was moving in, he turned to gaze at the man. "You've got to find your focus, Hayden. I've found mine and you see what I've accomplished there." Zakai said with a flourish because yes, he was proud of himself. After the abysmal failures earlier he was glad to have succeeded here.
"Lady Diana, I hope you're well... and that you don't mind my stepping in to help."
Alexander- Remaining on L09 - Targetting BW4
Watching with relish as he destroyed the bone abomination, Alexander couldn't help a moment of planting fists on his hips and guffawing loudly. "I hope you rest well in pieces my friend." He said between laughs, continuing to stand proud and tall as he gazed at the remains of the bones. The things weren't so scary once they were dead once more. Though Al kept an eye on it to make sure it didn't decide to just come back to life again. What he wasn't counting on was a buddy to take the things place and watched with surprise as a swipe hit him raggedly across the chest and catching the inside of one arm. The pain seared through Alexander and he couldn't help a roar of surprise and pain, his gaze moving to his chest where a cut ran through his leather chest guard and over his arm. Well, Diana had once told him that he should get better armor... but it was rather difficult to find metal plated armor in his size and it was so troublesome to move in. Gazing at the wound a moment longer to make sure it wasn't going to kill him, he raised his axe and snarled at this new bone walker.
"Don't worry, I'll put you to rest like your friend." He said, a sneer in place as he raised his axe and brought it down on the bonewalker. It was blocked by the monster's sword but Alexander drew back to swing again, catching he skeletal being in an undersided blow and laughing again in a jovial way. "You may not be a man, but I'll have just as much fun destroying you as any enemy." He declared, mirth twinkling in his eyes as he ignored the way red was spilling from his open wounds.
Era- Moving 4 Spaces to I08 - Following Lamont
Unfortunately for Era, Lamont's strides were much longer then her's and he was more practice manuevering through a forest- at least it seemed that way to the girl. She was used to city blocks and weaving between people, fingering wallets and snagging precious belongings without their owner's notice. In this dark place where the trees stood tall and made things difficult to see, Era was out of her element.
Scurrying to try and keep up at Lamont's side, in the darkness of it all a root reached out to snag her foot and leave her tumbling into the dirt, getting a face full of it. She looked up, face smudged and scraped but otherwise unharmed. Her face had no flush of embarrassment and except for the scratches showed no trace of red at all. She just gazed up at Lamont as if she was wondering how he had gotten so far away from her. Era looked about as confused as ever, large grey eyes comically larger and mouth open in a small O of surprise. She continued to just stare at Lamont as he spoke to the Necromancer, slowly pushing to her feet and wondering if he even did need her at his side.
Deciding to wait so that she didn't interrupt Lamont, she watched the Necromancer disappear into the darkness once more and monsters attack. It was amazing to watch and she itched to get into the fight too, though she was currently too far away to attack.
Right at the moment if felt like everyone was doing so well. Everyone except her of course. Her feeble attempt to destroy the zombie and intimidate the necromancer had been laughable at best. Luckily, Lord Lamont showed up to take care of the situation. And even if Diana would never admit it, it was good to know that the Vicar, who probably had experience with these things, was taking the rudder here.
Well, even if the Vicar had showed up, it didn't mean the fight was over. But Diana was lucky again! This time around Lord Zakai was the one that showed up, only to set a couple of arrows in the zombie currently facing Diana, which allowed her the space she needed to get away from it's claws.
”I don't mind you stepping in at all, your majesty. You take care of this bastard, and I'll see if I can do anything about his friends over here.” Diana said an took of the her right, readying her daggers for another round of attacks, hopefully she would fare better now than last time around!
”Once we're done here we need someone to trail that damned broad before she gets away!” Diana commanded, hoping that someone would take up pursuit of the necromancer.
But two thuds sounded from above to confirm the hits, and a moment later Vilma could hear the sound of the winged beast crashing down dead to the ground.
”That was most impressive mi'lord!” Vilhelmina exclaimed and jumped once, looking at Zakai with eyes wide from how impressive she thought he was.
"Are you alright, Vilhelmina?"
”And yes, I am just fine. It's only but a scratch.” Was Vilhelmina's answer to the question. For a moment it was as if she had something on her mind, but was unable to speak it. But before any words could pass her lips the young prince had ran off to aid the others.
Vilhelmina wasn't late to follow him, keeping a steady pace to remain at his side. The Senator and the Prince exchanged a few word, while Vilma stepped in and attempted to finish the zombie off.
When she was done, she looked around, finding that the fucchini Senator had already left their side.
”I bet no moss ever grows on her... What do you think, Zakai?” Vilhelmina said musingly.
When he asked if Era was okay, all he got was a really short response and a nod, then, seconds later Era had run off, not looking back.
Now that's just bullshit ain't it... Rakhill thought as he smiled, and rolled his eyes while shaking his head, followed by a big sigh.
”Is there no end to these?” Fridith muttered to herself and she signaled for Fjalar to go high and make a wide turn toward the farthest of the Mogall's. Her question was certainly answered as she saw a another horde of monsters closing in on Eydis and the other warriors. She quickly made up a plan; pop the farther eyeball to open a path for the archer who could then assist the rest of the warriors.
"Eh? I was being sarcastic you fool- By the goddess that girl is lost all of her wits!" he hissed as she ran off like a fool, she obviously didn't know what she was playing with here... her "minions" were mindless monsters, indeed she'd kill whatever stood in her way, but she didn't think that these creatures wouldn't actually harm her own?
However, it seems the others have joined him, and have started to clear the way. And it seems Diana had the same idea he did... Atleast they could agree on something once and awhile. Didn't they have a dinner meeting planned? Fucino styled too... hmm...
"Ah, lord of Herranow, seems your aim has recovered, two fold it seems. Good, I had worries an injury had impaired you." he admitted and gave a small bow to the man. "Now then, I shall keep trying to hunt down our acquaintance, and perhaps talk her down. She has potential, potential we could use if we bring her to the right path... not to mention, she does have good intentions, though with transcendentally horrible means might I say." he gave a nod to them, then looked to his young charge...
Who was being the absolute most charming little cutie there was.
Gods look at her, her eyes so full of wonder, it took all of Lamont's strength of will to stop himself from rushing over and hugging the girl and kissing her on the forehead. God she was so cute!!! Blast it! he had to go to her! Hold on Era lamont's comin- eh?
The zombie seemed to... attempt a lunge at him. Actually it was more like a half stumble and a light pawing of his back. It.. didn't hurt... it was very, veyr creepy... but it didn't hurt. "...hmm..." a lesser undead... perhaps.. ah.. why not have Era do some training? With the others at her side it would do to give her some good experience.
"Era, stay with Diana and Zakai, help them destroy these undead, but remain careful okay my dear?" he spoke to her with a cheery voice that a parent would give to their darling child. After that he looked to the others. "I shall go ahead, Diana, if you wouldn't mind me borrowing Alexander and his chains? Should my words not sway this girl we shall have no choice in the matter. A swift clout on the head and wrapping her in chains shall help us bring this to an end. Take her out, and the minions should fall." he smiled to the three.
"And should all else fail... Fighting Taros or not... she will unknowing create a threat far worse then anything Taros can muster." he forewarned them of the dire circumstance of necromancy, and dashed off like a pink, white and black lightning bolt, holding his torch up above to light the way.
"Renkalanora! Come out! I must speak with you once more! Your minions attack not just the orcs but the villagers among the woods! I have fought against necromancers many a time, and I know your cause may be true in fighting Taros. But there are better ways to fight a evil then the create a larger one! The power shall corrupt your mind! Urge you on and on! A beast that will never sleep until all have died and become your slave! Friends and family will fall as you are powerless to stop yourself! Drunk on the power!" This young woman, no matter what she did, she couldn't hide it... Seriously he bloody saw her chest before it's not like they didn't speak normally beforehand... he couldn't help but feel he was monologuing abit... was this helping at all or did it seem abit to much?
She was foolish... but... she had quite the potential for magic.
"A true, pure power can be gained, if you simply let me help you! All can be forgiven!" he called into the blackness, hoping this young woman was atleast having SOME second thoughts about this...
Wait... perhaps he can.. AH YES! the summoning arts! Perhaps if he could tell her about them... he wasn't a summoner himself but... Palenia was home to magic, he would need to find her to explain.
Eydis accepts Vulnerary from Cal'Vina
Eydis uses Rescue on Ulysses
The battle unfolding around Eydis continued to grow in size...the storm of people and monsters clashing in the darkness, yelling and screaming and terrible voices not of Ord's intent...it almost reminded the Troubadour of the pandemonium she had fled at the underground encampment just days before. For a moment her heart became disquieted as she registered that Fridith was now quite a ways off.
But she will be fine. Fridith can handle herself.
Yes, the pegasus knight was surely doing her best to fight off the monsters, Eydis thought with a smile. She needn't worry about her, the woman was already keeping true to her promise. Besides, she already had glimpsed proof of her companion's valour with her very own eyes.
On the other hand...
"You're only in the way out here you old bastard! Get on that horse before I break your legs and put you on that horse!"
"A helpful contribution, I'm sure."
It took everything Eydis had not to roll her eyes at the halfbreed's crude remarks to the old man. Though since she also harbored an inner bitterness towards the elderly, she couldn't exactly blame him. Besides, she was distracted by trying to think why in Ord's name the halfbreed had decided to follow her in the first place when he had shown her nothing but contempt. It was rather Ordinistly of him to worry about her, but Eydis didn't quite appreciate the assumption she couldn't take care of herself.
"Why don't you make yourself useful and attack some of these abominations instead of those we should be trying to protect. Like our new ally, here," she continued, nodding to the tall stranger whose cat had helped him lub a healthy explosion into the oncoming horde. Eydis had always liked explosives, being weapons that could be handled even by someone with weak, ill-coordinated arms like herself. Some of the nuns had seemed a bit hesitant about them- thinking that such scientific abominations were akin to black magic in their destructive powers -but after leaving the church it didn't take much of the real world to remind Eydis that it's never a bad thing to have a trustworthy weapon at one's side. Besides, if Ord didn't want humans to make explosions, He wouldn't have given them the intelligence to learn how.
The tall, odd-clothed man before her now even reminded the Troubadour of the one who had first shown her the power of bombs. Her crimson eyes couldn't help but reflect the bright sparkles of the flames.
Ah, finally some respect from a fellow follower of Ord.
"Many thanks, kind stranger," she began, gently reaching out to take the vulnerary from the man, "I am Eydis Artemesia from the Convent of the Sisters of Ord. My companion and I are traversing these woods on most urgent business; to help us past these monsters is a service to all Wynda!"
With these proud words Eydis planned to unleash her own explosive flurry, but neither could she ignore the plight of the old man. Seeing the grotesque zombie attack him was enough to spur the righteous Troubadour into action. From his stance it was possible the villager might have once been a warrior, but now the halfbreed was right, he was little better than a liability. And Eydis wasn't about to sit around and watch him get mauled to death by the undead.
"I'll help you find your granddaughter, just as soon as I make sure you're safe."
Without waiting for a response the Troubadour lead Urha over to the elderly man and with a strength that surprised even herself, practically dragged him upon the horse's back.
"We can travel faster this way, in any case."
Taking a quick look around to assess the new situation, Eydis saw that the bright light of her staff was now shining on even more strangers. At least by the looks of it they were also helping to fight off the monsters.
Just where are all these fighters coming from?
If the newcomers were travelers, perhaps they would carry with them some word of Tactician Vyn. She would have to try and talk with them.
After taking that gargoyle hit like a champ, she doubled over. Rose didn't go outside of busy marketplaces or the palace, so seeing such a mighty creature that had seemed to come from all things unholy was a disturbing sight. She felt the spear jab at her sides before flinching and pulling it out, feeling as if nearly half of her strength had been sapped. If what was true, someone was summoning them and Lamont had found her. Noticing Rakhill had just decided to come back to the area, Rosa had to make her way out. Her first attack targeting the evil woman had backfired. Hurriedly rushing over to her Lord, she decided to act out yet another dangerous plan. "Do not hurt him, witch!" Rosa cried out. Her love staff!
The love staff was something that not all maids had. In fact, if she was going to accompany Lamont on the journey to Neth, Rosa would have to defend him against any foe that dared to cross them. How could she possibly do that without getting too close with her gauntlets or hurting them directly? The answer was her love staff. It was supposed to make whoever was struck with the staff in love with whoever was closest to them, monster or person. However, Rosalia had only received her staff just before boarding on the Blue Rose. If it were anything like the mend staff she was accustomed to, all she had to do was focus on the target... Little did she know of how powerful the effects were.
With a pink beam of light, Rosa struck her. It flew in a diagonal line as it flooded Renkalanora's body. It was surprising even with her lack of strength. Now to wait until it happened.
Following the maid who had clearly lost it, she patted Rakhill briskly. Now was not the time for pleasantries. "Ah, archer. It was nothing to worry about. I'm thankful you checked up on me, though." Aaryn nodded. The truth was, while Aaryn could easily hit any monster with that monstrous axe of her's, arrows that hit from afar could really help build on her defenses. "Come, let's travel to the center of all the action, and see what is happening." On her way there, more monsters showed up. Zombies, bonewalkers, gargoyles, you name it. The necromancer seemed to have been taken care of thanks to the Palenians. Vyn had taken to helping another Resistance member.
Wait. Resistance member? Winnie sensed her alarm and decided to fly in closer. Big mistake. Aaryn flinched back in disgust as she smashed the head in of another zombie with the handle of her mighty axe. "There's another one." Winnie shook his head in disgust, garnering a sympathetic response from the rider. If her magic wielding ice manakete tribe were here, they would know just what to do... God, did she feel useless without them sometimes. That mogall was simply a good example of such. Her weakness to magic was something she needed to just so desperately get rid of. If only...
"I could do this all day if I wanted to." She exclaimed. Aaryn begun to breathe heavier once the heavy weapon swung and hit its target. Was that woman fighting them? She wondered, looking to Diana. The Assembly member, right? The Resistance begun to gather around Diana and the monsters near her as they begun to showcase their might.
Hearing the boom coming from the explosive, Vyn noticed all the monsters slightly damaged as well as some familiar faces. You see, back in Wynda, Edvyn the tactition was quite the antisocial recluse. While he almost always showed up for battle or for the plannings of missions, he was never present for social events or celebrations. In fact, he seemed to know more of each soldier than each soldier knew of him. Vyn would rather keep it that way, you never knew who you would run into. Seeing the face of the healer through the light, he made his way over to the nearest zombie in her path and took care of it rather easily.
"I am Eydis Artemesia from the Convent of the Sisters of Ord. My companion and I are traversing these woods on most urgent business; to help us past these monsters is a service to all Wynda!" That was when he heard her voice. Eydis carried the old man on horseback. The religious woman of Ord had recently become known to Vyn, though he did not know of her name. If she meant well for the good of Wynda, was she a member of the Resistance? "If you do not mind me asking, what is your business? If you wish for the good of Wynda, surely you must be a part of the Resistance, no?" Vyn proudly asked. He walked closer to Diana, patting her on the shoulder as one would with a comrade. "It would be rude if I did not take those monsters off of your shoulders." He sliced through the zombie on the way to Eydis.
While I can still battle, a vulnerary would be extremely beneficial." Lirim grimaced. Azha whinnied and carried him over to a spot to attack the last mogall. The mogall's juices had already coated the Sietic man's clothing as a distinct odor wafted off of it. This was disgusting. At least they were not in the desert, where the next well or water source to clean it out was far away from home. How he still survived was a mystery. "A few broken legs are better than an early...no...timely grave!" and added to Cal'vina, "You in the stupid hat! Watch where you throw those things!" He dodged the gargoyle and the zombie, and deciding that the zombie would be easiest to strike down first, he crashed his lance into its face. With an impaled head on the end of his javelin, Roth was left vulnerable while struggling to free it. Embarrassingly enough Lirim came around right at this time to comment on his sportsmanship. Ren darted through the darkness, unsure of whether she was heading away from the village or toward it. If she could get back to the village, she could pretend like she had nothing to do with this. But then...if there was a possibility she couldn't...then there was no going back. The thought was heartbreaking but something had to be done! Lamont's speech only served to remind her of the Emperor. Her face twisted in a scowl as she tried to keep in the shadows. The voice became louder, closer, and just before she could escape the light of Lamont's torch, she'd found another root to trip over. "Damn it all!" she screeched from the ground. She turned to Lamont, clearly visible in the light now. "There's no such thing as a pure power!" she spat back, not bothering to disguise her voice anymore.
Ren stood to her feet, bracing herself against a small tree. "Power corrupts and there's nothing you can do to absolve anyone of it! The Emperor isn't a necromancer but he's done more damage to us than any of them ever have! Gods, you don't even live here! You've got no idea what his men did to this place!" Ren opened her flux tome and growled, "I didn't want to do this but you--" a pink beam came out of no where and enveloped Ren in a glowing aura. Her eyes widened and then the aura dissipated. "But you...you...are the most beautiful human being I've ever seen..." Ren shut her tome, and for the first time, really studied Lamont. The long luscious pink hair, the silky skin, his pure eyes glimmering in the light of the torch. "My word..." Ren's face flushed red and she stammered, "B-But if you want me to stop...I can... I... I will...for you..."
She set her tome down and approached wearily at first, before full on rushing Lamont with a hug. "I would do anything for you, my precious love~!" she pulled away and stroked his cheek, wondering aloud, "What did you say your name was again? Gods you're stunning but... what are you exactly?" Ren bombarded the poor Vicar with questions, completely obsessing over him. "Man or woman?...I don't care either way I just..." Kristen got a devious look on her face and her hand began to wander to Lamont's lower region. "Well I guess there's only one way to find out~" she whispered and giggled mischievously.
Ulysses stubbornly helped himself onto the horse. He didn't want to admit it, but fighting monsters off like this is a young man's game, truly. Plus, Eydis had a point. They could travel much faster on horseback. "Fine, woman," he replied with his usual surly tone. "I fear she's lost herself to this...this...horrid art." he confided in Eydis. "It won't stop here. We'll need to kill her."
Brendan was beginning to wonder if he'd be safer outside than in this carriage, because it was apparently operated by two lunatics. He'd suspected that Fran would stubbornly refuse to run away from a fight, especially with strangers. He threw open the back door and called, "DO AS THEY SAY FRAN!" To which she stubbornly replied, "No, I almost have him now!" The Gargoyle had taken a few fireballs to the chest and it was just barely managing to keep up with Fran. Brendan insisted she retreat now, and what began was a long string of "GET IN!" and "NO!" until eventually, even the gargoyle got sick of it and focused its attention on a juicy, helpless Troubadour not too far away. "HEY! I'M NOT FINISHED WITH YOU!" Fran chased the gargoyle to the middle of the fray and continued to combat it...though not very well.
Hayden furrowed his brow, ignored by Lamont, and feeling quite uneasy about Alexander and those chains. His eye twitched and he remembered the girl they still had in the carriage. Everywhere they go they're going to keep doing this to people. "Find my focus. Right." He said more to himself than Zakai, and smirked. "I'll find my focus alright." He spotted Ava not too far away and hypothesized that there was probably a knife or something in the carriage for him to free the girl they'd caught at the bridge. All he had to do was fight his way there.
But along the way, he spotted Vyn taking a nasty lance strike. "Woah there, guy!" He thought about leaving him to bleed out, but maybe, just maybe, Vyn may finally reward him for helping him out. Hayden hurried to the elf and helped him stand. He placed Vyn's arm around his shoulders and said, "Hang on tight buddy, I'll getcha outta here! You owe me big time~" Slowly he headed toward the carriage, and along the way he complimented Cal'vina and ever so casually destroyed the Bonewalker behind him. "That's a cute cat and a cool hat! Hey that rhymed! HEY! I hit something!" He realized quite late that the bonewalker was no more, and snapped his fingers. "It's always when I'm not trying."
The stubborn woman wasn't behaving and Ava was reeeeeally considering leaving her to the gargoyles. In fact, she already had the reigns in hand, especially once Mordi started panicking. Nope. Nope nope nope. Every jerky movement the gargoyle made seemed as if it was coming closer to them. Mordi somehow found a way to pull it together and Ava shrieked with glee, hoping that the fire spells would take the gargoyle down. "Yes Mordimort you did! You hit it! You hit it twice, you little idiot savant!" But apparently that wasn't enough. The gargoyle didn't shrug off the fire but it was still fucking moving and now that woman was following it. Ava glared and furrowed her eyebrows. "That stupid bitch isn't going to screw me out of a safe warm bed tonight," she growled with an unusually sinister tone. Ava whipped the reigns and positioned the carriage behind the gargoyle, stood up on her seat, and pointed at it like some kind of army commander. "Mordimooort! Kill it with fire!"
Grieves
Grieves didn't think that Z7 stood a chance. And from what he could see, there were far less monsters in the woods but now there were more people. Some of them armed with explosives and they were probably the bigger threat by now. Strangers. He still had a good eye on Diana and could rush to her aid if need be, and they seemed to be helping with the monsters. After all, when it comes down to it, they all had a common enemy.
And speaking of a common enemy, Grieves was in earshot of... whatever the hell was now happening with the necromancer and Lamont. "My word," he gasped, unable to hide his disdain. He hadn't noticed the pink beam of light hitting the woman prior, so he thought she was totally just coming on to the Vicar that strongly because she wanted to. "How terribly forward," he commented, then realized that he wasn't the only one watching the encounter between the two. A zombie stood by idly, more than likely staring off into space but it seemed as if it were looking at Ren and Lamont too. Grieves promptly dealt two blows to the creature, but it merely staggered backward and then stared at him, as if it were thinking mimicking it's master Ren. "Oh my."
After absolutely murderfying that zombie, Roth was eager for more bloodshed, especially since he really wanted to take out his unbridled frustration on something. Lost in his anger and still getting his bearings back after saving his spear, his other opponent, the gargoyle, managed to land a strike on him. "FUCK!" he roared in a mixture of rage and pain. "Die, beast!" Roth reacted quickly and before the gargoyle could get into the air, he caught one of its wings with its javelin. It fell to the forest floor and Roth plunged his javelin into its back and twisted it until the fiend stopped moving. Then he spat on it, knelt down, and ripped off its horn. "Bitch." he growled at the dead body. He noticed the lance it had dropped and rubbed his chin. It was large and not ideal for orc killing but...it looked powerful so why not? "I'll take this off your hands," he stepped on the gargoyle and retrieved its Lance.
Zakai nodded in acknowledgement to Diana's words. He was glad that she didn't reject his help, though he hadn't expected her to. He was glad to help at any rate, and was proud that he was able to actually do some help. Then Diana was off, though, and Zakai was on his own. Only for a moment; shortly Vilma was back at his side. He smiled at her. "I think she's quick to move to the next task. You're right, she is more of a rolling stone." Zakai agreed.
"Alright, off to shoot down more monsters." Zakai said as the ones in the immediate area were dropped. Seeing another gargoyle flapping around and remembering how much fun it was to shoot one down earlier, he decided to set his sights on the thing. It didn't look like it was doing very well already and that meant that Zakai would hopefully be able to finish it. Knocking arrows, he let two fly in succession before pausing, not wanting to waste more then he needed to on the beast. He smiled as both shots landed and turned back towards Vilma, calling back to her.
"Did you see that? It seems I have found my zone, Vilhelmina." Zakai said proudly.
Alexander watched as yet another monster fell beneath his hands. His fear of them diminished with every successful attack, every collapse of bones. Letting out a roar of triumph as yet another skeleton fell, Alexander looked around for his next victim. Though Diana was Alexander's top priority, he was now attacking because the joy of crushing these abominations was filling him with joy he hadn't had since they had left their homeland thanks to his lack of luck with the ladies, and only minimal fighting the last battle. He was in bliss as he headed towards the next target.
"Not a skeleton, but still a monster. I will put you to rest." Alexander declared with a triumphant stance before pulling out his axe and attacking the zombie. Realizing that the zombie may also be worth the time to mug, Alexander added that in after the first swipe with the axe, thinking it best to get that in right after the attack so hopefully the disgusting creature would be in a daze.
Al was aware that Grieves had attacked it and done like zero damage but it didn't stop Alexander from trying. "I won't let you harm any more innocent souls you abomination." Alexander shouted, even though he had already well attacked the thing and was now waiting to see if it would fall like the bone creatures had. He wanted to watch the zombie crumble and reach it's final rest.
"Oy, what happened to the elf?" Alexander asked no one in particular, noticing that Vyn was no longer with them helping with strategic movements and looking around. He rather liked the pointy eared man; he found him very entertaining.
Era- Moving 4 Spaces to M08 - Following Lamont
It seemed that whenever Era got close, all the monsters were already destroyed. Her lord had already well left her sight but she knew the direction he was heading and could hear his voice at times while he tried to speak to the witch who was raising the dead. Lord Lamont is good to try and help the woman. Era thought to herself, watching the massacre of monsters around her. She paused as Vyn was pulled away, wondering if the elf was dead or if he was alright. Her attention was drawn away as she heard Lamont once more, and then the call of the kind maid...
It wasn't easy getting close enough to try and help Lamont when he moved so much easier through the woods then she did. Era froze as she then heard a new voice; one she didn't know. And she was being a little too friendly with her lord. Unfortunately Era was still too far away to do anything, but she dearly wanted to drag the woman away and give her a thorough beating for daring touch Lamont in such a way.
"Ah, good work Rosa, our victory is all but assured." he praised his friend as his eyes went back to the woman... who was now rushing directly at him, arms open. "...Weak to being charmed I see..." he muttered to himself and grunted as she wrapped her arms around the man, to which he simply put his free hand to her back. Well... this was an interesting situation... she seems to have fallen into the category of being unable to tell what gender he is... Comes with being handsome really.
Wait...
"...Finding out... Wait... you don't mean!"
he tried to stop the perverted young woman from checking with his one free hand, just BARELY stopping her hand from breaching his trousers. "I am a man there is little need to check my dear. Now... How about you do a little favor for me hmm? Simply listen to what i have to say okay?" he asked with a sly wink, the charm would have her after him regardless... But if he played it right the charm would give him enough time to rail the information of whom they were and the fact they were on the side of the resistance.
"You are right my dear, we are not from this land... but we have seen it's plight, Taros attempted to lure us in to kill us for some unknown cause... or perhaps capture us for some ungodly reason. We wish to help this land, to help Wyndia. The tarosian empire must be stopped... and the lands of Neth shall see to it that this land is restored... You only need to help my dear... Necromancy may be powerful... But you shall only create an evil far worse then anything man can create himself... But you have great potential, the drive to do good! By your hand with ours we can help change this world for the better."
He laid a hand upon her shoulder, he knew she was going to keep bloody trying to get into his pants and pretend to be rabbits for an hour... But he had to get it through her mind, he had to get her on their side before he can get to the necromancy issue. her mind may be hazed with... Magically infused lust, but as he knows himself from training, memories stay with you even while charmed... indeed they do.... Most the time, you'll wish they didn't.
...It was at this moment he realized he talked alot...
This woman was attempting to get a hand upon his FAMILY JEWELS and here he was attempting to talk of greater goods and her potential for magic...
....Honestly this was probably why he was still single...
....
The sudden pang of loneliness filling his heart he looked around to the others for a moment before he looked back to his new necromancer suitor. "Could you please tell us more of Taro's crimes? ...And please stop rubbing against me."
"Alright!!! Fire-! Eh!?!?!?!?!?!" the young woman gasped with the sudden realization that... Zakai just stole her KILL!!!
The Crimson haired fancy man just dared to steal what was to be HER limelight!!!
"HEY!!! YOU!!! HOW DARE YOU STEAL MY KILL YOU ROGUISH HANDSOME GENTLEMAN!!!" she sent her second line of "insults" at the man from a good bit away, looking horribly unhappy that he stole what was to be her's. In truth, she looked more angry at this moment then she was afraid, almost as if she was to get out of that carriage and go clout him on the head with her tome.
But she wouldn't... because she was a lady! A lady that was shouting at a lord no less.
But it WAS his fault! She called it! it was her's!! Rightly so!
So instead of doing anything, the young woman sat back down and crossed her arms, pouting from a failed opportunity... "...Dumb bow twanging poo head..." she mumbled to herself, face turned into a large scowl as she glared down to the ground.
Ah, there was but one zombie left to kill, none of the necromancer's thralls would pop up again because of the necromancer falling for the androgynous looking man. At least Aaryn could tell he was a man. Maybe everyone from that strange country just looked inherently more feminine than the men in Wynda. But that wasn't true, when faced with the 7 foot barbarian. His muscles made her's look small and even weak, though their weapon disciples would say otherwise. I mean, axe wielders all have some bulk to them, regardless of gender. In fact, the man, Al, reminded the silver haired woman of Jan back home. The red hair, the axe, the muscles, the resemblance was hard to miss.
"Mugging a zombie but not even killing it? I have to say, you have some mighty balls." Aaryn remarked, admiring his bravery. Truly, that was a prime example of using all of your resources. Besides, he was now a couple of gold pieces richer. "Nice axe, by the way." She said, coming to the realization that no one seemed to be doing some real damage on this beast. Not the sneakier or the speedier ones could do anything substantial. Stick to mogalls, perhaps? She thought, not meaning anything rude. If anything, Aaryn should probably stay away from mogalls, with their magic and all. "Let me finish 'im off for you, warrior." Smirking, Aaryn raised her equally-as-mighty hammer and landed a solid strike on the monstrosity. "That should do it, hopefully. The name is Aaryn, dear warrior. Who might you be?" She inquired.
As he jogged deeper into the forest, following Aaryn and Rose, Rakhill couldn't but notice that the dark forest appeared more quiet now than just before. Or well, not more quiet per se, it was more so filled with different, and less alarming, sounds than it had just moments earlier. For example, the shouts of the undead monsters were becoming fewer and fewer by the minute. But voices of people appeared in their stead. And even if strangers necessarily wasn't a good thing to stumble upon in the forest, it certainly seemed better than zombies, bone walkers, mogalls and gargoyles.
A bit further in he came upon the group of people that was fighting off the last remnants of the undead fiends. It appeared as if they had it all under control, so Rakhill offered himself a well needed breather, stopping just by the side of the Palenian maid.
“Seems like we got 'em good! But who are all these people? By the way, have you seen Vyn around? You know, the pointy eared guy of ours?” Rakhill said, still not knowing that the tactician had fallen.
The battle appeared to have been won, now that the group of warriors in front of them seemed to have rid most of the undead and captured the necromancer. This allowed Fridith to relax a bit, so she took the opportunity to get to know the archer a bit better.
“You and your friend fight very well, archer. Tell me, what is your names?” She asked, and had Fjalar walk up next to Lirim and his horse.
Diana
Cell: N08 > N07
Interacting with: Edvyn, Grieves, Alexander
Nothing Diana did seemed to have effect on the rotten wretches they had been fighting. It would appear that, for a zombie, there was no such thing as vital organs. And as such Diana's precise strikes at vital parts of the body did nothing even if they would've been lethal if inflicted on a living person. It was as if the tiny holes her daggers made in the rotten flesh didn't even make a difference. So, when the tactician patted her on the shoulder and took upon him to deal with her foes it was a great relief for poor Diana. But the moment of relief was short, for once Vyn had dealt with one of the zombies, a bone walker lunged his spear towards him.
”Tactician! Behind you!”
Diana's warning came way too late. In fact, Vyn had already been struck by the attack when the words passed Diana's lips.
The elf had been bold in taking on the enemy the way he did. Too bold. And the nasty lance of the bone walker striking him was his reward for it. Seeing this was of course a shock for Diana. She had seen others hurt in combat before, heck, by now she had even killed some enemies in the field of battle herself during the battle on the bridge. But somehow this one got to her.
Luckily, Hayden was already there to help Vyn back up on his feet. Seeing that the tactician was getting help and aid, Diana walked over to her butler and put her hand on his shoulder. “Grieves, will you have a look at the Tactician, please? That hit he took didn't look very good, now did it?”
“Speaking of which, we don't look very good covered in gore and guts from those abominations either... But we can see to that as soon as we know there are no more of those undead monsters lurking about, right?” She said, looking at her clothes that were all completely covered in the icky slime from the mogall.
Then she glanced at Lord Lamont, spotting him and the necromancer. “What in the name of... What are they doing?!” Diana said surprised at what she now witnessed. She looked at Al then at Grieves, then back at the Vicar and Necromancer. “Are you seeing what I see?”
“She appears to be a handful if you ask me. There was still reason to be careful even now that the undead were no longer a threat to the prince's safety, for a handful of strangers had appeared from out of the woods. And even if they were too fighting the undead, there was no telling who they actually were yet.
Then again, from what Vilhelmina could tell there was no doubt that Zakai, who had just shot down another gargoyle from the dark skies above, could handle himself. It was obvious that the prince was enjoying his success in this battle, and Vilhelmina couldn't blame him. His recent shots had been impressive, and undoubtedly more effective against the quick, winged, beasts than her sword could ever hope to be.
When Zakai claimed that he was in his zone, Vilma nodded and replied: “Clearly you are, mi'lord! Each and every of those winged abomination, from here to Neth, will know to fear you if you keep this up!” She said encouragingly as she gave the prince a soft pat on his back.
Kristen pouted at Lamont's far less fun way of determining his gender but otherwise nodded obediently. "I could listen to the sound of your voice for centuries!" she replied passionately. It's gonna be real embarrassing when this thing wears off but when is it ever not? But her idea of "listening" was quite skewed as she tugged against Lamont's robes and continuously floated her hands above his lower region, and pulling him far too close, completely uncaring of the audience in front of them only because she knew they didn't present any danger. They were clearly on his side, they were wiping up what remained of her undead army.
"Darling, I'll stay by your side forever, but why would you want to talk about Wynda's darkest hour tonight? Isn't there something more exciting you'd rather be doing?" Kristen asked with a mischievous giggle but ultimately, she ended up explaining in a mismatched lustful tone, "They came without warning and made our knights look like they'd never held a blade in their lives. Then they killed anyone who wouldn't kneel and swear their lives to the Emperor. Like my grandmother, my parents, any proud or stubborn Wyndan, executed on the spot for even hesitating. They even slaughtered animals. Then they took all of the Laguz and continued to scourge the land. Our Duke begged for his life and swore his loyalty, and now they're treating him like a prize pig. This place used to be called Wynvale Woods, but it came to be known as the Whispering Woods because so many people were killed and buried here. And with most of the farmers, doctors, and knights killed, even more of us died over the years. We've just barely recovered from our food shortage, part of the village is quarantined, and if orcs were to attack us, that would have been the final nail in the coffin~ So you see, I had to do something. But now I wanna do something else..."
Brendan stepped out of the cabin, rubbing his arm from where the Gargoyle had snagged him. "Fran, come on, what does it matter who killed the thing, at least it's dead!" He shook his head and grumbled, "Warriors..." Fran was storming over to him so he figured he was probably in for a lecture about valor or something. Ava had been feeling quite epic, having a partner and all in the carriage. Despite the girl's lack of skill, she did make Ava feel safer. Push come to shove she could always be used as a meat shield, right? Still, seeing Zakai take down that Gargoyle the way he did reminded her that she and her assistant had no place on the battlefield. "Oh hush Mordimort," Ava gave the young mage a rather patronizing pat on the head. "You did all you could. Now be a doll and check our supply, will you? I'm certain the prisoner didn't leave without taking a few going away presents..." Ava's eyes narrowed. She was automatically assuming that the girl left with all of their gold. For Ava, if she left with even one gold coin then it was basically like she took everything. "I'm going to have a word with the prince."
Ava hopped down from her driver's seat and wrapped her green cloak around her body to protect her from the winds. "Lord Zakai!!" Ava called as if she was about to tell him it was his bed time. She briskly joined Vilhelmina and Zakai, raining on the high of a victory with bad news. "Milord, it would appear that the woman we captured on the bridge has escaped. I have my assistant doing an inventory at the moment, but I'm certain she didn't leave empty handed. We ourselves had minimal involvement with the prisoner other than containing her." Ava's voice softened into an angry hiss so that only Vilhelmina and Zakai could hear her. "The Fuccini and the Palenians were the ones who interacted with her the most, so one or both of them is at fault. When we let them use our carriage to keep that woman, it was under the pretense that no harm would come to it! I believe we deserve an apology, some form of compensation, and perhaps some insurance against their prisoners breaking out in the future. The carriage itself appears to be unharmed, but that woman could have done far worse. She could have killed myself and Mordimort before she left!"
Grieves
Kickin' It With: Lamont, Ren, Diana, Al, Aaryn, Vyn
The zombie was thankfully taken care of by Alexander, who had an eye for gold bags being carried by the undead apparently, because Grieves had been looking right at the thing and hadn't noticed. He cringed however at Aaryn's compliment. Mighty balls, how crude. What's gotten into everyone today? Between that and the affair between the Vicar and their (former?) enemy, Grieves was feeling quite uncomfortable. Still, he was compelled to thank his partner and his new friend, whom he was certain would get along swimmingly with the giant. "As always Alexander, you have my thanks. As do you Lady Aaryn. I am called Grieves, and I serve Madam Dusette." He introduced himself but had no desire to stick around for whatever crass conversation the axe wielders would get into next. Thankfully, Diana gave him a task.
"Right away, Madam," Grieves answered. He turned to leave, but heard Diana call back to him and Al concerning the necromancer. Grieves nodded grimly, and answered, "I am afraid I do Madam. I shall hold my tongue on the matter for now." Grieves thought whatever was going on over there was highly distasteful, but overall, none of his business. He had a more important job to do anyway, so he joined Hayden as he gently walked Vyn over to the carriage. The butler brandished his heal staff and a warm blue light began to swell around the elf's body. "I cannot begin to apologize enough, Sir Edvyn. Had we kept a more watchful eye, perhaps you wouldn't have sustained your injuries. I sincerely hope this doesn't put a damper your relationship with Madam Dusette."
Roth_zpssdunpyly.jpg~original
The troubadour was surrounded by allies now, so Roth no longer felt a need to look out for her. Plus, if he hadn't made it clear already, he wasn't a fan. But being in a forest with a bunch of strangers who may or may not be friends after slaying the undead together was unnerving to say the least for the green bastard. He pulled a furry hood over his head and joined the only person he did trust, Lirim.
He arrived in time to Fridith's offer to have Eydis take a look at Lirim's wounds. "That bitch won't be long for this world. Running off like that was stupid." Roth's rocky voice added to venom of his words. "You aren't half bad though," the compliment sounded like it was an insult. "Your stupid friend said that the fate of Wynda is in your hands. What exactly were you two doing out here?" Roth asked, wondering if the necromancer had something to do with it. He was assuming that was the case, Eydis wouldn't be the first overzealous Ordinist to behave as if a single necromancer spelled the end of time.
Zakai- On Space N09 - with Vilhelmina, Mordimort, Ava, Villagers
Face turning a little red, Zakai gave Vilhelmina a look, expression narrowed. "Are you implying something with your words? You do realize how rumors start, do you not? If you have a comment or question, then just spit it out Vilhelmina." Zakai replied, not feeling exceptionally good about her tone. It was washed away with Vilma's later praise, and Zakai was smiling.
Zakai's pride at having downed the monster was short lived as an angry voice berated him and he turned to see a rather small girl shouting at him about stealing her kill. And... was 'roguish handsome gentleman' meant to be an insult? Confusion flooded the archer as he straightened, dumb founded expression in place as he tried to figure out how to cope with the situation. Digging deep, he sought out his training as a proper lord and straightened his back a little, trying to seem intimidating and powerful. He headed in Mordi's direction.
"You're part of our party, aren't you?" He inquired, closing in on Mordimort. "I apologize for stealing your kill." He said formally, giving Mordi a nod. She wasn't high enough of a status that he knew of to receive a full bow, but he thought he owed at least a nod to her. Before he could say anything more, there was another shout about him stealing a kill and he turned to see other new faces. Before he could go and make amends with these people as well, there was yet another voice calling his name specifically and he tensed up before turning towards Ava.
Expression souring as the information was passed to him, Zakai's arms crossed over his chest and he scowled. "I'll have a word with them, and from now on prisoners will either be monitored if kept in the carriage or they will not be kept in our carriage." He stated boldly, unimpressed that the woman the Fuccinian woman had deigned capture had robbed them. Though Diana was a respectable Senator, she was the one who had taken the Troubador prisoner. "We'll receive full compensation for what's been lost and I'll make sure both lords apologize to you Ava. You're precious to this team; we'd be lost without you, as I'm sure you know. I apologize for the risk I put you in by allowing them to use our carriage." Zakai said, focusing on soothing Ava while he planned out what he was actually going to do about this loss. "Who is Mordimort? That's not a name I recognize?"
Alexander- On Cell O07 - with Aaryn, Grieves, Diana
Alexander's attention was snagged by a woman's voice. A rather fetching woman if he did say so himself. And he would, would it not before the fact that she was currently speaking to him and Al knew better then to interrupt a woman. Especially when that woman was giving him a compliment. Mouth opening into a wide grin, showing a lot of teeth, Alexander nodded and hefted his sad bronze axe a little higher, giving it a mighty twirl before tucking it into his belt. So what if he was showing off? What person doesn't like being complimented from a good looking woman.
"Beautifully done." Alexander said as he watched Aaryn finish off the zombie. She called me Dear. Al thought with a grin and gave the woman a mighty bow. "Aaryn, a fetching name for a powerful woman. I am Sir Alexander, in the service of Diana, Senator of Fuccino." Alexander said with another flourish and then a mighty guffaw, a rush of peace flooding him now that the monsters were finished. "As for my axe, I'm hoping to acquire something that's a little more... Just more. This sad thing has sufficed better then my bare hands, but only barely." He said, patting the bronze axe once more. "I lost my beautiful axe when we lost our ship." He added, heart aching at the reminder of the loss of his trusty axe. It had been a hard hit on him... but he felt some day he could find an axe that would work just as well. He hoped. He laughed at Grieve's wonderful compliment and nodded at the butler.
"You were also splendid today, my friend. I especially love the way you covered our Lady in the guts of our enemies. She was rather fearsome when covered with the bright reds and dingy browns of that eyeball monster." Al teased with a mischievous glint in his eye. Upon Diana's question, Al rerouted his gaze.
"They seem to be giving us a show." Alexander replied once his attention was drawn to the teddy bear carrying lord and the person who had caused them such trouble. "Do you wish me to end her, my lady?" Al asked, readying his axe for an attack by sliding it from his belt once more. It was possible Lamont had been bewitched, afterall... and if the large man were honest he wouldn't mind ending the pink haired man as well. Despite his magical prowess, the man was a nuisance and had made things more difficult with Diana's prisoner by being a bleeding heart. Well, Al could easily make his heart bleed in the literal sense.
Era- Following Lamont - Near Lamont, Kristen, Rose
The longer Era's lord was with the evil woman, the less comfort Era felt. She didn't like the woman's behavior, touching as if the lord were her's to touch. And it made Era's protectiveness flare and it was lucky for all that she was not closer for Era would have tried cutting the woman's hands off for daring touch Lamont in such a degrading way.
Pushing herself from the dirt and mud where she had lain, she made her way closer to Lamont to see if he had an order for her to help. She would not attack without his command at the moment since she trusted her lord to have things under control. And if he didn't... if the witch had bewitched him... well Era would risk life and limb breaking the curse and rescuing her Lord.
When Era was close enough to hear she discovered that in fact Lamont was getting the woman to spill information. Era watched with shifty eyes but inwardly she felt a swell of pride and loyalty flood her being thanks to Lamont's skillful handling of the situation. She did nothing more then stare at the two with her blank eyes, awaiting an order from either Lamont, Rosa, or Mordimort; those she cared for, and whom she owed her loyalty.
"I see, so you had truely good intentions... And saw it as your only choice... I wish that tale was a new one to me..." lamont sighed as he once again took another step back to gain some distance from her, something that he was doing often, making this conversation look more like a strange dance. In his steps he led her towards where the main force was, and towards the carriage. "Roughly a moment before that staff wears off.. need to make certain she wont up and run." he thought to himself, planning his actions accordingly, this young woman just set to light a good deal of information...
Wyndia was crushed with ease, she might be just using hyperbol but generally these things are said for a reason.. taros must have considerable might to back up it's militaristic tendencies. Swear fealty to the emperor or die... Not a god, but an emperor. or perhaps the emperor thinked he was a god? How foolish.
This village is still recovering, the deaths brought in the rocs, and to get rid of said orcs this young woman took up necromancy. To protect her home and then fight back against Taros, now the final question is...
Where did she get the knowledge of necromancy?
"Come this way my dear, I have a present for you~" he smiled to the young woman before he placed a hand on Era's back to guide her along with him. He leaned downwards to speak to the young girl, thinking on his next moves. "Era, quickly go get a length of rope to tie up this woman okay? She has information we need of this land... and we need to know where those tomes are." he gave her orders with a soft pat on her head for good measure.
Closer to the group, he took a moment to clear his throat and looked to them, but keeping a eye upon kristen so she doesn't... well.. ambush him.
"So the battle is at a end, in truth i must say you all did commendable work. The blight of undeath and monsters is always an uphill battle, as you fight an enemy with little regard for it's own safety, a suicidal rush is but the only tactic they know.. and while an easy one to predict... it can be very devastating when one is unprepared... if anybody is injured, see to it that you are tended to by one of our dutiful healers. With that said, i would like everybody to meet our new friend." he spoke with eloquence and clarity, as any noble would.
"Currently under the effects of my good Rosa's love staff, kristen, the necromancer who brought this upon the woods. As i... kept her at arm's reach she told me a few things about the surrounding area's history... And how the common folk viewed Wyndia's defeat. It appears to combat the rising population of orcs in the area she took up necromancy, while it would no doubt solve said problem..." he took a moment to distance himself once again from an encroaching young woman who seemed to want to make a B-line directly for his crotch.
"Good intentions gone wrong, many of us know this tale off by heart." he side stepped yet another attempt but this time tripped her with a simple kick to the shin, not a elegant maneuver for certain but.. well... Do what yea gotta do. With a foot atop of her back he sighed, looking to the others. "The staff will be wearing off in but a moment.. if somebody could help in keeping her from running off that would be appreciated, we still need to know exactly where the tomes she learned from are... they will make nice kindling for tonight's fire." he let out a deep breath, finally relieved with not having to deal with another woman trying constantly to get somewhere she really shouldn't.
"...Oh yes, and we need to discuss her fate, in Palenia we have two paths, one of redemption, or one of the headsman. But I would like to hear your thoughts on this matter. Shall we let her have a second chance? Or should she end like her creations? Should we allow her to take the path of redemption, and if she would accept such a path mind, she does have considerable magical potential. And if we don't... Well..." he drew silent, but the man's almost permanent smile never wavered.
"We shall make the final decision come morning, think upon it well. Listen to her words as I have and judge fairly. There are dire reasons why necromancy is banned, and you all saw it tonight. Now... where are those ropes?" he asked finally, awaiting Era. He was indeed doing this for a reason, a trial, through and through. If he were to simply make a decision there would be complaining, mostly from the side of Fuccino, but with this.. everybody's hands were in the decision.
What shall they choose? What will they say? Why... did he have a feeling that merchant hated him?
Mordimort had pouted but for a moment but then gave a large sigh, she was done whining about it... Though... getting her head patted was nice... maybe she could get it scratched sometime.. get era to do it? Could do with a nice nap... Wait, the supplies, better to do so now and get it over with. The young woman turned around and went back inside the wagon, still in a small huff how she wouldn't get her own kill for once... but... was she ready to take a life?
Could she do it?
Could she truely kill another human being?
.......................................................................................................................
Yep.
"Now.. what did she take..." she muttered to herself as she flat out ignored the other occupants of the wagon, rummaging around and finally coming up with what was lost. "..She didn't take to much mind... well.. better write it down i guess." she huffed, looking around for the ledger and got to writing the amount down that was lost. "Guess we'll get it back some how.. replacements or otherwise... or..."
Mordimort muttered to herself when she.. remembered something...
The villagers...
THEY HAD EVERYONE!
THEY SUCCEEDED IN KEEPING EVERYONE ALIVE!
Except for that one guy at the start of course, sucks to be him though, wait... he wasn't a villager right? Then some soldier HE was.
Leaning out of the wagon's front she waved to Ava, shouting back to her so she could hear. "AVA!!! FOUND OUT WHAT WAS STOLEN!! CHECK THE LEDGER WHEN YOU CAN!" she yelled to the woman before she hopped off the wagon to stretch her legs. It was a rough night for certain.
Like a dutiful maid, she bowed her head humbly as Lamont thanked her. Even though she didn't kill her, Kristen did seem to be harmless save for her monsters... Still, it was the most she could do considering that Rosa refused to attack unless she really had to. Rosalia squealed as she did something so... Un-Palenian and vulgar. With wide eyes at this dangerous show of affection, she turned a bright red and turned away. "Wh-Why I never!" Rosa cried out. The maid was about to walk over to the necromancer and demand for her to stay away from her Lord when...
What if she confuses me for having feelings for the Vicar? Rosa thought. On the outside, her appearance was still quite flustered as well as distressed. The maid put her hands to her head and almost begun to panic. Oh dear... but what if she does... inappropriate things?! No, Rosa couldn't possibly let this slide, especially if she fulfilled her vow of service four years ago. Rose inched towards the pair the way one inches towards a spider before running away in fear.
Eventually, she found a place near Lamont's arm to the opposite of Kristen. Too bad she didn't know how to undo her magic... Though, the more she seemed to speak of her misfortunes, the more sympathy she had received from the kind-hearted maid. "My Lord... she's simply misunderstood." Turning to Kristen, she felt tears rising from her soft, green eyes as she shared her own two cents. Never had she even heard of such horrible acts. If that were to make her cry, imagine experiencing such acts firsthand. It was the sort of thing that lingered in memory forever and made even the most honourable of men go mad with grief or anger. "We must help her, my Lord. What good does a man have in this world if not a kind heart?" Rosa pleaded. "At the least, send her village some food or gold... If you want, I can even strike her again with my staff!"
Aaryn curved her lips into a half smile and nodded. "Nice to meet you, Alexander. I would not call it fetching, however, as more men share my name than women." The woman was easily calmed by his guffaw and seemingly gregarious behaviour. "I am truly sorry for your loss. I assume it was beautiful. However, the weapons don't make the man... or woman." An equally as worn out hammer was lifted. The hammer that had survived the past two battles still served her well. Despite being one of the heavier weapons used, it felt light to her calloused hands.
As Aaryn was conversating with a fellow axe-wielding warrior, Rakhill came just into earshot. "Ah, archer! Ask Vyn who these people may be, he's in the carriage. Seems to be pretty beat up... he's a smart guy, I don't doubt he'll be alright." Aaryn shot him a reassuring glance. She hadn't witnessed him getting hurt, but from the looks of it afterwards, his injuries looked bad. Luckily, Hayden and the Fuccinians seemed to take care of it before Aaryn could offer her elixir.
A butler had approached them now, giving them his thanks. The woman wasn't familiar with many royal mannerisms, so she sure as hell wasn't curtsying. What did people do anyways? "It wasn't any trouble, sir. I am sure you fought quite well yourself. Please, it's just Aaryn." Aaryn replied, rather awkwardly. She was never one for formalities, so whenever she had the chance, the silver haired woman normally answered as quickly as possible. It was a bit peculiar that didn't like being referred to as 'Lady Aaryn.' Listening to the peachy haired man speak, she sighed. As long as those monsters were targeted and caused havoc in Taros, Aaryn wouldn't mind bashing in some orc heads.
"No, I wouldn't like for you to waste precious vulneraries~ Though, I would greatly appreciate a healer at this moment... the pink-clad flower, I presume?~"
The darker skinned nomad waved to his elf friend. "No, they aren't half bad, to clarify~ They've done well on ensuring that those monsters are gone from our sights. ”Tactician! Behind you!”
It all happened too quickly.
The tactition slayed another monster, but through the fiery swordsmanship, he felt a lance pierce his chest. It wasn't high enough to go through his heart as he felt everything fog around him. Platinum blonde hair, his own he presumed, covered his face as the remaining monsters were soon wiped out. Luckily, the explorer came through to his rescue. He gratefully took his arm and was led to the carriage. "Th-Thank you, explorer." His voice became breathless. All that flied through his thoughts were of Uryva. How was he doing now? Would he be disappointed? Gritting his teeth, he couldn't let down his leader, his best friend, and certainly not the Resistance.
Lying down on the carriage, he began to cough. Dammit, Uryva. He thought, clenching his voice. His breathing didn't seem so tense anymore as a blue light surrounded him. Was this heaven? He wasn't even religious! It was too bold of a move, he was so used to being behind the scenes, he forgot the fear and recklessness people experience on the front lines. "N-No, nobody was to blame but myself. If I had not been careful, sir. Thank you all for aiding me... our leader thanks you too. Without the Assembly, I would have died at the hands of unpure beings in these Whispering Woods. I am now sure that the Resistance will accept you and give everyone the resources they need." Nodding, he got up from the carriage and faced everyone.
"Ugh don't be so over dramatic," Hayden groaned dismissively. He stood with folded arms, attention elsewhere as Diana's Butler healed the elf's wounds. "Just don't go getting yourself stabbed again alright? These guys need you." If all of the Resistance members of the group died, Hayden might find himself with an actual position again. And he wasn't havin' that. Yet he was having second thoughts about ditching now. This continent sure was dangerous, that sword guy that got killed at the beginning of the battle easily could have been him. If anything, these guys made for great cannon fodder until he could find a group of proper adventurers.
Instead, Hayden turned his attention Lamont and his rather lengthy speech. He was still feeling guilty about the girl in the carriage and frowned as he saw Lamont step upon the Necromancer's back. It was unlike him to participate in conversations like this, but he felt personally invested. Though he doubted he had as much say around here as Vyn, Diana, or Zakai, he chimed in, "Kill her or leave her to her own devices, I say. You shouldn't force her to be someone she isn't just to fit into the mold of your views. That'd be even worse than binding her for eternity!"
He was feeling quite proud of himself, knowing that he had done a great deal to solidify the relationship between Diana and Vyn, Fuccino and the Resistance. "It's an honor to be of assistance, Sir Edvyn." When the elf stood up, Grieves stood behind him, staff at the ready behind his back should the elf show signs that he required more medical attention.
Lamont truly was a well-spoken individual. And kind too, to offer the necromancer a second chance despite her crimes. And now he understood why the woman was behaving so lustfully. Rosa's Love staff was more than just an accessory after all. The Butler's eyes shifted to Diana, awaiting to hear word from his lady and withholding his own. After all, these types of decisions weren't in his job description. However, if none of the royals wanted to get their hands dirty, Grieves would volunteer in a heartbeat to execute the woman. He was already covered in Mogall guts anyway. However, he let curiosity get the best of him and he whispered to Vyn, "Sir Edvyn, how would this woman's crime be tried in Wynda?"
That Aaryn did not find the name fetching did not affect Al in the slightest, and neither did the fact that apparently it was more often a man's name. He found such a comment amusing though, and personally he thought it a great honor for a woman to be named such a name as that which many men had. It was a show of just how strong she must be, and though Al had trouble seeing women as equals this dragon woman with her hammer and powerful name came pretty dang close. He gave her a nod of appreciation as she lamented the loss of his axe with him. It was nice to be understood. And of course Alexander was immediately wondering if perhaps Aaryn would be the type of woman interested in sharing a bed. She was definitely beautiful enough to be his type. Then again there really wasn't a woman who wasn't Al's type, but he found Aaryn to be especially interesting.
Her interest was drawn away from him as an archer came into the vicinity and Al didn't mind the conversation being interrupted. He wasn't particularly happy about it, but he didn't mind. "You know, there is no 'Just Aaryn', truly. At least the Warrior Aaryn or the Mighty Aaryn at least. I could understand the lack of want for 'Lady' though." Al teased with a wide smile, though his added titles were mostly... okay partially sincere. He was definitely giving this woman and flirting a shot.
At Lamont's spoken instructions Era removed her hand from her sleeve and dashed away as quickly as she could, lunging into the back of the carriage and grabbing the first piece of rope she saw before running as quickly as she could back to Lamont. She was surprised by the dark woman already pinned to the ground by Lamont. A look of awe crossed her face as she gazed at the man. "Smart." She said, handing Lamont the rope. Era would have tied up the prisoner herself but she didn't make a habit of tying knots and doubted she'd tie any strong knots. She just didn't trust herself to tie up the woman, though she'd try if Lamont requested it.
Aaryn had no idea he was flirting at all. The woman had many similarities to a man of this time. Brave, a bit of an alpha, strong, and proud. Plus, the dragon was always a booster. It was just her feminine facial features and frame that could really distinguish what might otherwise be a blurred line. However, the silver haired woman deemed it just a simple conversation among axe wielders such as themselves. I guess that was what made her innocent in a way. That was where her upbringing truly shone. So the answer to poor Alexander was no, Aaryn is not interested in the moment of sharing a bed. Romantic matters or even just intimate matters weren't her priority. Her priority was to bring back Wynda's pride and make herself into someone that her tribe would be proud of.
It didn't mean that Aaryn couldn't be persuaded. Not that she wanted to, of course. His muscles and his height nearly intimidated her. She felt the only way to feel bigger than him was to ride on Bronwyn and measure from the wyvern's head down to its feet. If only they had someone like that in the Resistance... "Warrior? Mighty?" The wyvern rider snorted. "Ord taught me to be humble, so I shall. Isn't that right, boy?" The woman turned to her pet. Bronwyn only roared in approval. What did you expect from a dragon? It's not a kitten or a puppy so you can't really expect it to give you a cute noise. Either way, it was cute to Aaryn as she wrinkled her nose and felt the scaly exterior.
"Strip away my Bronwyn and I shall hope to be only a quarter of your prowess." The icy eyed woman affectionately snuggled against the white creature's neck. In fact, Bronwyn, or Winnie, was just about the closest person or animal that has ever received that level of physical affection from Aaryn. The bond between one's mount and rider was very important. "Ord did good, however. Giving you a wyvern will only make you the most fearsome of warriors." She teased back. Sure, it wasn't anything romantic, but Aaryn did feel at ease with the way the man was talking to her.
Edvyn listened quietly, he always did. So much so that he's learned the ability to listen beyond what has been said. At least, that was what Uryva told him. He desperately needed to know if he was alright. Imperos was in danger, of course every part of Wynda was but you can't really compare that to the likes of Akyr, now can you? He listened to Lamont speak and as Grieves asked his question, Vyn paused to form his own opinion. As you could probably tell, it was common for the elf to completely pause until he found a suitable answer. Quite certain with what he was trying to convey, his deep green eyes focused on the butler, but made sure everyone else was ready to hear it if they were even within earshot. And trust me, he tried to be, at least. By Ord, he never needed to do this around Uryva...
"I am far from deciding how this woman's crime would be dealt with in my own country. Especially not with the state that Wynda is in at the moment. For my own safety, I do not outwardly participate with the trying of crime, but as tactician of the Wyndan Resistance, I have never seen such ability to summon such monsters... If we are able to turn them against Tarosian forces..." But alas, he sighed. "Her intentions are well, and I have seen hundreds too many firsthand, of our warriors wrongly executed for failing to comply, or whole villages being burned and pillaged to the ground to the extent that it makes this small village seem blessed. All while back then I was a simple grunt studying the enemy's moves..." The passionate elf finally decided to take some steps closer to the center of all the commotion.
"Palenian, as a man still prideful of our nation and seeing this chaos both in Taros and Wynda, I say we spare this woman. Our leader will decide what to do with her." He responded. Edvyn's body language didn't reveal much as he waited for each response. He closed his arms around his torso, seeming to close himself off until he was in a listening position once again.
Lamont Basilo, Judge addressing the jury
Location: Someplace inna woods.
Interacting with: Whomever is bloody listening anymore, Kristen (
@SirBlazeALot )
Lamont took a moment of silence, nodding to each person who made their words and decision, he was in a group of bleeding hearts after all.. or those who simply don't understand the nature of the crime... Such was the way with juries. "I see... With that, we shall spare her(this time). You all made good points on your decisions, each one valid without question." Even hayden's which was basically a "it's not my business" answer. "However, in the end, no matter what we decide... it is up to herself what she does with our decision."
"Well then, let us see where this takes us." he took the ropes from Era's hands and began to tie her hands together, [edit] and taking the evasion talisman off her person as well, no sense leaving it there... "What you do with this new found chance is yours, but do not mistake the kindness for weakness... You have one more chance, not many can attest to having ever gained such a thing. We may be foreigners, but the resistance tactician made his point clear... And the use of Necromancy is a worldly crime... One more often met with execution instead of a trial." he explained what was going on her to the young woman before stepping off of her.
"You shall remain in bonds until the morning, under watch as well." he continued to explain before he then turned to the others. "Let us continue to the village, we shall dress our wounds and see to it that the people know the forest is once again clear. it also seems we have new friends amongst us." he made mention to the new faces amongst the group, a holy woman, a... green man?, A pegasus knight, another man who seemed like he was out in the sun for far to long, and had quite the wild set of hair, a man in a strange hat and a few folk who look like villagers.
With a hand upon the binds of Kristen he brought her up to her feet. "Tell me, have you any relatives in the village? I'd imagine so if you were so intent on protecting it." he gave her one last question before he gazed to the others, waiting for the time to head off. This would cause him quite abit of foot work... they may have spared this young woman but she is, in the end, her own woman... She might just up and run, best he saw to it that she was watched, perhaps Era would suit as a guard? She'd no doubt be happy to do so, so eager to please... Why it's almost like having a second, less emotive, Rosa around.
Wait.. did they not already have a prisoner? Hmm... Something about the way that woman was talking to lord Zakai... tells him that they didn't any longer... and some blame was about to be thrown about... Thankfully the group was still at a point where they were aimless as new born babes, so she likely didn't hear much in the ways of their plans.
Speaking of plans... he had a body to bury...
Kickin' It With: Zakai, Vilhelmina, Mordimort
Flattery went a long way with Ava. Who doesn't like to hear how important and integral they are to a team? Especially when that team was composed literally of all fighters. Ava didn't know the first thing about how to cast a spell or shoot a bow or swing an axe but she was damn good with money and items and you bet she thought that was equally valuable. She was still quite shaken up by the monsters and the prisoner escape and all of that nonsense, but she was proud of the way Zakai handled it. "Thank you, milord," she replied huffily. "You sounded quite kingly there, if I do say so myself. Your father would be proud."
Right on time for Zakai's question, Mordimort showed up with the damage report. Ava almost didn't want to see it, but she knew curiosity would kill her if she didn't look at it right away. "That is Mordimort. I saw it fit to take her on as an assistant...she umm..." Ava cleared her throat and whispered, "She and the young boy with the Vicar managed to stowaway on the Blue Rose before we left Neth. Their fortune continued and they somehow survived the attack when we arrived. The poor things were stealing what little morsels they could but they revealed themselves on the bridge. The girl is a countryman of yours and the boy a countryman of mine. I know our supplies are limited but at least they're working for them now." Ava of course neglected to mention that she'd been assisting them with acquiring food for quite some time, because hey? Need to know right?
In addition to Mordimort's perfect timing, the results of Kristen's trial seemed like a perfect opportunity for the Prince to put his foot down on prisoners. Ava nodded to the scene unfolding and whispered, "I'd advise you make your feelings known now milord. The other woman was simply a healer. This woman can summon demons. Why are we even bothering her with this woman?! She's a major liability! If you ask me, they should take her out deep in the woods, slit her throat, and be done with it! Hmph. But I suppose no one's asking me though, are they? Forgive me for speaking out of turn. I'll go check the ledger at once."
Kristen (ft. Grieves)
Kickin' It With: Lamont, Grieves, & Rosa mostly
Kickin' It Near: Errbody
Slowly but surely, the effects of the Love staff wore off and Kristen came to. Now of course, she remembered everything. Absolutely everything. She began squirming under Lamont's boot, face reddened from rage and embarrassment, her mind on full on panic mode as she fought against her binds. Lamont's words about her second chance did little to ease her. In fact she seemed to ignore him as she looked frantically among the people who had captured her for the one who'd charmed her.
Once Lamont stood her up her eyes fell upon Rosa and her Love staff. Her eyes narrowed and she continued to struggle against Lamont, clearly trying to make a break for it until she found herself being lifted up by Grieves and thrown over the Mogall guts covered butler's shoulder. "Allow me," the butler offered, and she squirmed there as well, struggled against him, tried to use the slippery shoulder to her advantage, but Grieves only tightened his grip.
She managed to get her eyes on Rosa and she shrieked, "I'M GONNA KILL YOU!" at the maid, violently thrashing against Grieves, so hard in fact that she actually managed to break his grip and fall to the ground with a thud. But she fought through the pain and still tried to squirm toward Rosa despite the fact that she was disarmed and outnumbered. Grieves merely pulled her back up to her feet and put her in a choke hold this time. "My apologies," the butler nodded to the Vicar as the Shaman kicked at his shins. He was highly tempted to knock her out and throw her in the carriage with the other woman like a sack of potatoes, and he would have done just that if Ulysses hadn't spoken up.
Ulysses
Kickin' It With: Pretty Much Everyone
"Unfortunately I'm her only relative! But no more!" The old man hobbled forward, having hopped off of Eydis's horse to get in on this action. "I am both ashamed and appalled by my granddaughter's actions!" He announced to the group. Kristen stopped struggling and looked down at the ground, preparing herself for the worst. Ulysses glared at the woman, and then looked away, deciding that was the last time he wanted to see her.
"Do what you will with her, but she's no longer welcome here. She's betrayed her people and Ord and deserves nothing short of a death sentence! If I had my way, I would kill her myself! And I will if she's anywhere near the village when the sun rises! This act of mercy is the final favor I will grant her as her grandfather." And with that, Kristen ironically lost the home she was trying to protect. Ulysses hobbled away from the group and back toward the village stubbornly, while Kristen gave up on destroying Grieves' shins and kind of just...let her legs go and slumped in Grieves' arm.
