The Black Snake

He hates humans more than the other gods. He was married to the Tortoise, she was his world. The two of them could control the element of water. When he has full access to his powers, not only can he control water, he can shape ice and even manipulate some aspects of the weather. He is the ruler of the north and winter. When his vessel permits it he can take the shape of a giant, black snake.










The Vermilion Bird

She is often confused for a Fenghuang because when she changes her shape, she looks very similar to the symbol of the Empress. But she loathes when people compare her to the Fenghuang. She is often described as the elegant and noble ruler of the south. It is only fitting that the Queen of Summer can control fire. With her full power she can level nations with her flames and can even absorb fire to heal herself.










The Azure Dragon

A powerful general of the East who can take the shape of a dragon, when his vessel allows it. He is the calmest of the four gods and people have always kind of assumed that he was the leader. Seeing as though he used to be one of the Dragon gods. Not only can he control spring, but he can also control the air. This control can range from the breeze to full-on tornados. But his power is limited like all the others.










The White Tiger

She is a powerful warrior, representing not only the “King” of animals but also power. It pissed her off when humans tried to manipulate her image into that of a man to fit their desires. She can control the Earth and deserves to be represented correctly. Seeing as though she has all of her power, she is capable of splitting cities with earthquakes. She misses that she can’t show off all her power or run around as a giant white tiger without a human's permission.










The North Vessel

(Male or Female) As the North’s vessel, they contain the power of the Black Tortoise, or more accurately the Black Snake. Because they have the water god’s power in them they can do things like breathe underwater. They do not know everything they are capable of, but they have noticed that they are basically immune to feeling cold.










The South Vessel

(Male or Female) Because of the Vermilion Bird’s power, they are protected from all things fire and heat. Though figuring that out comes out with quite the story. It comes in handy because they can’t get burnt. They also have never minded the warmer temperatures and humidity in the summer.

(Female) They are not sure what to do with their gift. It is hard to explain, but it always seemed like the wind moved around them. Protecting them and keeping them safe. Another gift of theirs they don’t know of is that they have breath just fine in even the most oxygen-low situations.

Su-Jin is a very chill individual. You will hardly ever see her truly mad, frustrated sure, but she only has a handful of times where she actually raised her voice at someone. She doesn’t really like getting mad, she feels it clouds her judgment. Su-Jin in general is just happy to go where the winds take her. Pun intended. She doesn’t really live life with a strict schedule, which works well for her. She has found that not having a set path makes it easier to accept the bumps and kinks in the road. Su-Jin has never had a hard time finding solutions to the troubles that pop up unexpectedly and she has tried not to let them weigh her down. It certainly helps that she is not the type to dwell on decisions for a long time. If she knows what she wants, then she is going to go for it. She didn’t like how her family couldn’t choose between ignoring the Azure Dragon or worshiping him, and how this indecisiveness seemed to rule their life. Su-Jin vowed to never let this happen to her. She would not let herself get hung up on the choices in life. And while she may come across as a person who can’t stick to one thing, that is simply not true at all.

When she makes her choice, she puts her best foot forward every step of the way. Or at least she tries to. She knows that not everything is gonna end up perfect, but she loves watching her progress as time goes on. It was why she loved learning to play the guitar and write music. She can look back at what she has done and be proud of how far she has done. It makes her feel good, so she brings the same energy to everything she does. And Su-Jin is pretty confident in herself. She is really happy with where she is right now. She is proud that it was her efforts that made her reality a thing. It may not be a whole lot, but she has come far compared to her home on Jeju island. The east vessel is a total softy when it comes to that kind of stuff. She wants to be able to help others and give them support to also help them improve their lives. Even if someone really hurts Su-Jin, she wants to give people a second chance. This has led to some painful relationships, but at the end of the day, she usually picks herself back up again.

She hates to admit it but she can be a bit naive. She is not completely innocent-minded, but she grew up on an island surrounded by her family her entire life. She is still shaping her views of the world and learning about as ridiculous as it sounds. Su-Jin doesn’t want to be made fun of for letting herself get fooled by people who look nice, so she tends to keep most of her horrible encounters to herself. Is that a worse idea, maybe. She is not the type of person to really cause a fuss anyway. She is not a big fan of fighting, and it doesn’t really help that she is not the best at being able to tell when things are going south. She just kind of does her thing and hopes for the best. She doesn’t have any major life goals right now and she is kind of waiting for something to happen. Though she doesn’t know what she is waiting for. Others like to point out that she is not a person with a lot of drive. And it hurts her a little. Because it makes her feel like she needs to make strides toward something. And she is not. It certainly doesn’t help that sometimes Su-Jin’s focus is easily snatched by things. Whether it is by a new idea or something around her. Not a great combination, but she is trying.

Childhood.

Su-Jin does not have many memories of her mom and dad actually raising her. Not because they were dead or abandoned her. It was just that her mom was still a teenager when she had Su-Jin. Her mom was a fresh-faced nineteen-year-old who got pregnant because of a tourist fling. Because of her young age, she was not ready to raise a kid. But she also didn’t want to get rid of Su-Jin. Luckily her family was really supportive of her. There were no plans to have another family member adopt the baby, but there was a silent agreement that Su-Jin would be the family's kid. Su-Jin’s mother alone didn’t raise her, it was a combination of everyone she lived within their little home/shrine on the island. And while it was confusing to outsiders, Su-Jin didn’t really mind at all.



Teenage years.

It was in her teenage years that she became more involved in the shrine. She had at that point had memorized all the tales they had to tell about the Azure Dragon they worshiped. It was also then that they revealed that she may be the gods' next vessel. Which threw her in for quite the loop. She has no idea why her family was saying this kind of stuff. She couldn’t turn to her mom for advice because she had moved away with her new husband, Su-Jin chose to stay because everything she knew was on Jeju Island. And while it was her home, she did not know how she suddenly felt to be flooded with all this vessel business. Su-Jin was looking for a way to escape the madness, and it came to her in the form of her aunt. It was not an aunt she had seen often, but when she promised to help Su-Jin get away from the Azure Dragon shrine if Su-Jin could gather the funds. It was like a dream come true. Su-Jin did whatever work she could to make the money to finally forge a life of her own.






Adulthood.

At first, it was hard getting used to leaving a life away from her family. But eventually, she found the friends she has now and the guitar. Learning to play the guitar helped distract her whenever she missed her family or thought about moving back home. Su-Jin doesn’t regret moving away from the shrine and has worked to get her little apartment. She no longer looks to her aunt for help because she has a pretty stable income with her music lessons and helping her friends when they need a model for something. Su-Jin generally is now just trying to find something new to do in life.

Positive:
- Caring: Kiwoo has a lot of warmth in their heart. They're always willing to help other people out if need be. Being raised the way that they were, their first instinct when meeting people is to be as kind as possible. It's just in their nature.
- Levelheaded: Kiwoo is a very calm person. He knows how to keep a cool head in even the tensest situations. He values the importance of keeping calm so as not to make any situation even more stressful. He's been known to keep the people around him calm during tense times. It is always good to have him around to keep the calm.
- Realistic: As much as Kiwoo would love to be an idealistic person, they're just not. They like to stick with reality because anything else is too fantastical for their liking. They're a very rational person, so it's no wonder that they like to be as realistic as possible.
- Perceptive: He's always been very observant. He tends to notice the little things about people that they don't even think about. This is great for when he's trying to get a judge on someone's character. He finds that the little quirks someone has says a lot about them.

Negative:
- Disorganized: As held together as he may seem, Kiwoo is one of the most disorganized people you will ever meet. He's not much of a scatterbrain, but he's constantly losing and misplacing things. Not only that but his thoughts seem to come out slightly disorganized as well.
- Perfectionist: In general, Kiwoo is a really hard worker. He likes things to be perfect and go smoothly to alleviate all stress. When things don't go that way you can really see his calm and levelheaded persona start to crack. He tries not to get too stressed out about the little things but it's hard when things just won't go the way he needs them to.
- Private: Despite being one of the most kindest and seemingly open people you will ever meet, Kiwoo likes to keep people at a distance. They rarely speak about themselves for fear that they'll be taken advantage of. They're a bit aloof in that way. A lot of people think they know Kiwoo because of how nice they are, but it actually takes a lot for them to trust someone fully.
- Blunt: His bluntness comes from a good place. He just doesn't really see the point in holding his tongue, especially when he's trying to help someone. He hates when people aren't clear with their words so he does his best to be as clear as possible. In his mind, he's helping everybody else by speaking without holding himself back, but a lot of people tend to take it the wrong way.

Long ago, generations before Kiwoo was even a thought, the war against the Four Auspicious Beasts raged rampantly. The humans were no match for their divine counterparts and that was obvious, so instead of directly fighting them, the people of the land thought of something even better. They were going to seal the gods and their powers away. That way they didn't have the chance to hurt anybody or use their power for evil. And that is where Kiwoo's distant ancestor comes into place. Their ancestor was noble and volunteered immediately to be a vessel when the topic was brought up despite not knowing if she would survive the power being sealed within her. She didn't care. She just wanted to keep everyone safe, and if risking her life was the way to do it then so be it. The ritual to seal the gods away ended up being a success, and Kiwoo's ancestor became renowned for her bravery and such. From her the "gift" that was being a vessel was passed down from generation to generation before finally reaching Kiwoo.

Or at least that's the story Kiwoo has been told since childhood.

Honestly, they stopped believing in the story about the vessels a long time ago. They chalked the story up to their grandparents trying to make up a figure that they could look up to in their youth in the absence of their parents. Kiwoo was raised in the care of his grandparents, his mother having died during childbirth and his father disappearing shortly after that. His grandfather always told him that his father disappeared because he couldn't handle the grief of losing the love of his life while also raising him by himself, so the best course of action was to put Kiwoo in the care of their grandparents. Kiwoo always thought that was bullshit. They've tried not to hold any resentment toward their father, but nobody is perfect of course.

Kiwoo doesn't remember much of their childhood aside from what their grandparents have told them. The never-ending stories about their ancestor have been one of the only things that could remember honestly. Oh, well, that and the floral shop that they spent most of their time in. It was a small store that belonged to their mother. When she passed his grandparents took over, and when Kiwoo became old enough they took over. If it were possible to be in love with a building, Kiwoo would definitely have fallen for it long ago. The store has been a staple in his life. It's always brought him closer to his mother and an everpresent sense of comfort. So much so that they ended up renting out the apartment right above it (which, coincidentally enough, was the apartment that their parents lived in).

Moving away from their grandparents has had its ups and downs. On the one hand, they're glad to get away from the constant pedestal their family has constantly put them on, but on the other hand, it's kind of lonely. Despite how much they detested the stress that came with constantly being idolized as a child, they miss having their family around all the time.

Their thumb is almost supernaturally green. The plants they take care of never wilt or die, and even if they do start to seem sick, they automatically perk up in their presence and heal with their touch and care. This gift is eventually extended to humans and animals too. Their connection with plants, animals, and nature, in general, has always felt personal and special. Whenever they tried to explain that to other people nobody seemed to get it. Kiwoo also naturally has a calming aura that extends to the people around them. It's always hard for people to get mad or sad with them.

- Loyal: Haeun's loyalty is something to treasure. Because she is an honorable woman and god she treats the people in her corner with the utmost respect and dignity.

- Stubborn: When Haeun picks a stance she stands by it no matter what. Her goals are always important to her so she won't deviate from them no matter what. Her ceaseless determination goes hand in hand with her stubbornness. One cannot exist without the other within Haeun.
- Unforgiving: As loyal as she is, she can be just as unforgiving. If you betray her trust in any way shape or form, you are just about dead to her. Haeun is all about protecting her peace, and a part of that is completely disregarding those that betray her. She knows how to hold a grudge and one way or another justice from her will rain down on you.
- Impatient: Haeun is terribly impatient. She likes things handled quickly and efficiently, and when they're not, she gets very...irritable, to say the least.

Haeun doesn't remember a time before she was the Vermillion Bird, Queen of Summer and Ruler of the South. That's all she's even been and ever will be. She wore her title with pride, having domain over the Summer and protecting humans from forces that wanted to hurt them was all that she ever wanted. Celebrations thrown in her name were met with warm, comfortable summers and another season of protection. All was well.

Until it wasn't.

When the demons appeared, Haeun fought graciously to defend the humans from them. Demons were scorched and burned to crisps. She used every bit of her power to protect them as much as she could. You could only imagine her surprise when she caught wind of the humans conspiring against her and her fellow gods. It was beyond baffling. She felt angry...betrayed not only by the humans but their divine peers too, but she could not rest for a second. The demons were constantly appearing and Haeun made it her duty to eradicate as many as she could, and she never goes back on her word. It all changed when the Tortise was murdered by the people they swore to protect. She couldn't believe it. The Tortise was someone Haeun looked as a close friend, so her death devastated her.

As the rest of The Four Beasts came together, they made the decision to make the humans repent for their wrongdoings. After getting rid of the demons they pushed the humans back into a corner, awaiting their punishment, but alas that day of reckoning never came. They were all banished from the heavenly realm and sealed away for what seemed to be good. Haeun was furious and she waited patiently for the day that she'd be released and freed from the bindings of the line of humans that bound her, but until then she would wait and wait and wait til her time came.

Abilities

In her prime, Haeun was able to transform from a spiritual bird that resembles a pheasant to a human appearing woman. At her full power she could level nations with her flames. Her control over flames and heat itself is still strong, but ever since she was connected to her vessel she hasn't been as strong. While she can still heal herself with her flame (or flame in general) it does take some time now.






Trivia

- People often call her the Summer Maiden by the humans that worshipped her, and the other gods would call her Birdie to tease her. She hates being called Birdie.
- Long ago, on the first day of summer, there would be festivals and celebrations in her name. She absolutely adored them.
- While she absolutely loves spicy food, she's an incredibly picky eater.
- Her anger towards humans burns as strong as her flames, she just doesn't understand why they would betray them like that.

Hello everyone, work got busy so I have only been able to check this periodically. As an update, L.Amour decided that they were pulling out of applications so sox sox or TerrorKitty TerrorKitty if either of you is interested in applying for the White Tiger or North Vessel, please feel free to do so.

At this point, because I want to get this started soon I don't mind if you guys make two female characters or two male characters. Shia Gwan was barely two weeks old when she was left on the doorsteps of a shrine just outside Seoul. The old couple who lived there decided to take her in despite not having much to provide. As she grew older, so did her new 'grand parents' and Shia began to take on more responsibility at home. Her guardians were more than caring, and taught her many things about the ancient gods and mythologies from a time long past. She loved those stories more than anything, and would often fantasize about them often despite being chastised in school for day dreaming all the time.

Shia was bullied and taken advantage of constantly; but the girl always smiled and bared through it anyway. She didn't want to hurt anyone, not really. Shia had dark thoughts that would build up, a desire for revenge but those were pushed down and buried under a litany of fake smiles and unnecessary apology. It was all worth it too, as she eventually started to believe she was happy.

Shia was a fool.

Shia for lack of words was a spineless wimp. The young Woman didn't have much direction in life after her grandparents passed. She took care of the Shrine and attended a local community college, and while she was bright the scholarships that she certainly qualified for were always full before her application was even considered half the time. Eventually she had given up on higher college education, not even knowing what she wanted to really do. While at the same time, less and less people came to the Shrine, leaving the girl all alone.

Cracks started to appear in the shell she had hid herself under for so long. Shia closed the shrine to the public, not like it really mattered and managed to get an apartment in the city with her then boyfriend before he kicked her out a week later without much explanation. It was in the middle of a very harsh Winter and the now homeless girl was sure she was going to freeze to death, at least until a very expensive looking car pulled up. The man in the back claiming to be the CEO of some massive tech company that had hands in every industry in Korea. He had gotten her an apartment of her own and even paid off the first three months of rent; but only on the condition that Shia were to work as a secretary at Black Aurora Industries HQ under him at a secretary. A position that would pay enough for the apartment and her living expenses, even if just barely.

Shia was terrified, but she accepted. She didn't want to die on the street and disappoint her grandparents. Ever since, she'd been working there with a grateful smile but still not everything was as it seemed. The office culture was incredibly harsh on Shia; the Men harassed her and constantly while the other woman would belittle and gosip as a defense to avoid from behind the butt of the jokes themselves. Often many would dump their extra work on her to do even if she wasn't qualified to do it. Shia feared losing the one job that could pay her bills, so she worked extra hard at home to study and do her best to complete her new assignments in order to not be blamed for not finishing assignments that she wasn't even supposed to do.

Worst of all; her boss, the Man who'd 'rescued' her was always nagging her for dates, dinners, and other things with promises of higher pay. Offers she reluctantly accpeted, often ending up at his apartment drunk or worse. He never stayed around after however, much to her relief, and on such occassions Shia would often take comfort in talking to his silver spoon fed daughter who ironically her opposite, being incredibly confident in her ability while having absolutely none at all. Shia pitied the girl who certainly seemed troubled, making her breakfast and having a nice chat before she called a cab to go back to work on her own.

Everything changed when she met Eun-Jeong, or rather The Black Tortoise. An alluring and rather intense Woman who had approached her for some reason or another, offering an escape from her nightmares. A proposal too temptatious to refuse; all she had to do was become Eun-Jeong's Vessel, a human housing a greater spirit in order to contain their true strength while on Earth. Eun-Jeong confessed to being worried about losing herself to corruption; a Goddess turned Demon after being betrayed by both Humans' while the Gods turned their back on her plight for some reason. None of it was fully explained to Shia but the Secretary understood that the Deity needed to limit their own power in order to slow down their descent into world destroying beast.

Shia accepted and in turn she received her own divine abilities as a part of their deal, but most importantly Eun-Jeong herself. The Goddess helped her break the ice she'd been drowning under for so long. Revenge served cold; just like the lifeless body of the CEO she'd manipulated into marriage before ruthlessly murdering. Freeing herself from the curse that was her life and begining anew. The Widow took the position of CEO at the company and to everyone's surprise, managed it much better than their previous boss. With the one caveat that while kind, the Woman was absolutely vicious and not to be messed with at any cost. Now with Eun-Jeong, her company, and a step-daughter to care for Shia finally felt like she had a purpose.
















































Business









Shia is a shrewd business woman with a powerful presence. Whenever she's attending a conference, most are rightfully cautious to never disrespect her. In turn, she runs things fairly and as smoothly as possible for everyone. After many of the Men had been fired or most likely sued on accounts of harassment or whatever dirt she had dug up, the company mainly hired Women who were experts in their fields of study as well as starting a internship program with Ewha Womans University; of which Shia was ceremoniously awarded an honorary Doctorate.













Ice Cold









As the Winter Vessel of The Black Tortoise of the North Shia received an affinity towards both water and ice, though mainly ice in her case. Her natural body temperature is slightly lower than average and on particularly hot humid days, if one looks carefully enough they could see a slight fog of water vapor forming around her. Shia is also essentially immune to the cold and oddly enough can't slip on ice. She's learned to harness her abilities with training from Eun-Jeong, making them a very dangerous duo.













The Tortoise









Shia having lived at a Shrine dedicated to the Four Auspicious Beasts most her life, she was more than familiar with the stories of the Black Tortoise. Now under their protection Shia eventually returned to her old home and revamped in reverence of the Black Tortoise, much like that families with praised the other Beasts and still visits from time to time. The Shrine now promoting and spreading the lost history to the public, as well as being a place of refuge for when she needs to get away. Shia even adopted a baby tortoise to take care of in; their name is Bingsu (빙수 - 수빙 backwards, which means ice that covers trees in Winter)













Deep Water









Along with her affinity for the cold, Shia has a connection to water. She can hold her breath for twice as long as the average Human and is an excellent swimmer, the colder the water the better. She had been attempting to control and manipulate water for some time, but it always ends up freezing; at best becoming a slurry of slush and rather sharp shards of ice.













Corrupted









After making a pact with Eun-Jeong and becoming the Demoness' Vessel, the darkness that had built inside Shia had begun to leak out, slowly shifting the Woman from a cute, clumsy, and harmless background character into a frigid, imposing, and very dangerous main villain. An antagonist to not be crossed, though she still retains much of her cute and caring attitude, Shia fears she may one day lose it. That both she and Eun-Jeong could end up diving in too deep and nerver resurface.













Her Winter









Shia's relationship with Eun-Jeong is one with many flowing parts that may seem rather confusing to an observer. Eun-Jeong had taken Shia's former secretary position, though with many more perks, as well as more control over operations of BAI. The Vessel on the other hands worships The Black Tortoise despite other Woman allowing and often encouraging Shia to take the lead in many aspects. The pair eventually officially began dating at some point and are currently engaged.
