Kachi
Just a lowly apple.
The night is dark.
Too dark.
They can sense it all too well, the Lodrakas. The Guardian Deities, in human tongue. The seven of them were built to defend from disaster, after all, so it only makes sense they can tell when it looms.
But after the revolt all those years prior, they’re more than defenceless. What good are souls without bodies, no matter how powerful the soul?
But they were determined to protect the world and its inhabitants, as they’d been born to do. They’d gladly sacrifice themselves again and again for those of the Earth. So they returned to the creatures that had chased them out so long ago, the humans, ignoring what had happened in the past. The future was much, much more important.
They didn't have the ability to fight the battle for themselves. But there was one thing they could do; call upon their children. The offspring of the seven Deities, who had been in hiding in the realms of their parents in places no human would ever find, heard the pleas of their parents and emerged, starting their search. They began seeking human souls that were willing and worthy enough to merge with their own. And there, they enter their unconscious minds while the humans go on, unaware of what had occurred. And there, they lie dormant, lie waiting. Waiting, waiting, waiting for their chosen humans to realize their powers, but whether that be by pure accident or with a bit of divine encouragement is yet to be seen.
But there was one thing the Guardians didn’t plan. Not long after the first pair of souls bonded, there were reports, people claiming to have seen scaly, draconic beasts gliding across the sky. And, unseen by humans, others watch them from the ground before walking off into the trees.
The Lodrakas weren’t the only ones to awaken.
