Ebongrove

Ebongrove is a lively and bustling city somewhere along the American East Coast. The city thanks its name due to the fact that it was once surrounded by ebony trees, but they were mostly cut down to build the large city some 200 years or so ago. The woods nearby, however, have always been preserved. Partially because the government wanted to keep some green around. Or so they'd tell you. Locals, and especially the older ones, will tell you otherwise. They claim a curse rests on the woods, or at least a spell of sorts. All machinery and other devices stop working after a certain point in the woods, and people tend to get lost there. Don't worry, they do come back, so it's probably not entirely evil. Strange sightings, of sounds and lights, however, are not quite uncommon here.

Ebongrove is an attractive city both for young and old, for tourists and people looking to settle. The city has a rich history and many buildings from older times. The church, for one, is said to have been build somewhere between the 15th and early 16th century. The city has a large community college, a busy nightlife downtown, plenty of opportunities for jobs, and nice and quiet outskirts. Also, the city has a lovely view, with both the forest and a lake nearby.

Ebongrove College

Ebongrove has a large community college with a decently sized campus. The college was once a cloister, which is clearly visible both inside and outside the building. Large windows, large halls, and the main auditorium was once the church-part of the cloister. The college has an inner garden. It is home to about 3000 students of all kinds of studies and all walks of life. The community college has plenty of facilities, including but not limited to: a library, a small art gallery, dorms, a small supermarket, two bus stops, and much more.

The Witchwoods

Surrounding Ebongrove are the woods. Its trees are older than anyone in the city can remember. According to old files, the woods were there long before the city of Ebongrove, or even the small hamlet it was once upon a time, were build. The woods have a bit of a mystical aura to them, as if the very trees themselves are watching all those who wander through it. Nobody dares to cross an unseen border within the woods. Said border is not marked in any way. People just know it when they reach it. People have often gotten lost here, and they remember little to nothing when they exit again. Sightings of strange lights and sudden mists, as well as indescribable sounds have been reported on many occasions. Nearing, or even passing this border, results in the sudden failure of all kinds of devices from flashlights to phones. Even compasses and watches seem to be behaving strangely here.

The Coven

Deep in the woods, beyond the border no one crosses, lay the ruins of a civilization long forgotten. The ruined look, however, is merely an illusion to keep prying eyes away. Only those chosen can pierce through the illusion and see what truly lays beyond.

It is in here where Novus and Fate have been hiding and living for centuries, waiting patiently for Vorkalth to rise once more. They have guarded the Sentinel Charms, waiting for them to choose the new Sentinels. Having no idea whom or what to expect this time, Novus and Fate are ready for just about everything, but they will make sure the Rangers will feel welcome and at home. The Coven will be their base, from where they will train, keep an eye on the Legion, and from where they will go where they must to collect the power they need.

Avalon

The first Era the Sentinels visit on their journey to defeat Vorkalth is Avalon, home of the Arthurian Legends. They wind up in the woods near Camelot. These woods hide many secrets, both from the legends as well as things that might be helpful for the Rangers.

In Avalon they meet with Merlin, King Arthur, and the Knights of the Round Table. Merlin, Watcher of the Realm, is aware of the existence of the Sentinels, as well as Avalon being stuck in a loop where the legends keep repeating forever and ever. He functions as a temporary mentor in this time period.

Lots of the Tales in this Era take place in and around Camelot, both castle and city. For medieval standards, this is a very large place. Every Sentinel has a room of their own in the guest quarters of the Castle. Some of those rooms overlook the market. Life in Camelot is about what you would expect from life in a legendary medieval castle.
