Little Red and the Wolf

Defective Kitten

The Defectivest of Them All
Storyline

In a the dusty city of Gelecios, the streets were bustling with life, as the the sun started to ripen over the day, the beating heat of the light pouring through the streets and alleyways. This was what living in the sunniest city in the world was like, the dense heat wiping usual tourists and adventurists. Many merchants had their shops open, people looking at the many goods that were being shown. Children were running down the streets, running between the legs of the street guards and taunting them as they laughed and played carelessly.

As the people of Gelecios seemed happy and free, it wouldn’t take much observation to tell that there was a gap between the rich and the poor. The rich were adorned in silk robes made from far off cities, grouped with massive bodyguards who bullied down the streets to make way for their masters. The poor were adorned in rags, but it seemed as though everybody was happy and carefree for the day. That was the tradition for the City of the Sun. Because everyone knew that the rich didn’t rule, nor did the poor, and not even the sun. No no no.

It was when night fell, when the true rulers would come out.

Setting

Midnight has fallen on the City of Gelecios, the temperature has dropped and a thick mist has rolled over the roads, the only places open are 24 hour convenient stores and self used gas stations. Children are tucked into their beds, candles and lights blown out and sleeping sound, parents are left cautious of whatever may happen within the night but sleep nonetheless. The autumn season blows cool winds, leaving chills down those who are homeless and cannot afford a thicker coat, wild dogs and cats scurry the night for garbage and a bite to eat.

Those who rule the town come out to play..

The darkness settled into the city as if it was a blanket, the nightlife settling into the familiar setting. However, everyone knew that the familiar setting is not a pleasant one. Strange life started to move into the cities, people who did not see the light of the sun often; Black market merchants, child trafficking pimps, drug dealers, and even rambunctious teens.  But most importantly, were the rulers of the night; the assassins. They were the ones who ruled the streets, and they were ready to enact their rule. A cold chill set in the air, and a cold sweat ran down the necks of many of the night dwellers. They knew what was coming.

The cities temperature dropped, as a man in a fur coat walked down the streets, without any guard up whatsoever. His eyes were scanning the city, searching for his new prey.

Roxie Crimson | Little Red

Roxie had escaped her part time job at the florist a few hours earlier, going to sleep as soon as she went home however once she was sleeping Little Red came out to play for the night. Slipping on a white dress with her signature red hood which was unknown if it had always been red or perhaps it were to have been painted the color red from those she had taken down. Her fox mask, the last and final touch before dropping into the shadows of the night and leaving her apartment complex without much notice of anybody that might've been spying on her.. She usually noticed if someone was following her or watching her, finishing them quick before they even realized it themselves.

Today in particular was a rather strange night however, someone named under the name of 'V' had invited her to come meet with them through a fancy looking white 'get well letter'. Of corse it was coded but it took her about 5 minutes to figure out that it was just backwards, flipped, reversed, and of every other letter unless it was a vowel than it was the letter two down, simple yet so obvious. Dropping into a empty dark alleyway the fox mask glanced as red eyes pierced the dark night, trailing for something out of the ordinary before she slipped into the open main road, keeping her head hanging low.

The night of the town finally settled in, and all of the nocturnal people came out. However, this didn't concern Maloken one bit. Hell, he was a nocturnal creature, and he was one of the most feared as well. The temperature around him was very cold, the air around him misting up from the impact of heat and cold. His footsteps were silent, his eyes glancing around. He looked like a wolf, searching for prey. In all reality, he was trying to find where his new contractor. He swore he didn't take the wrong turn.

As he was searching for the gas station where he needed to meet his contractor, Maloken saw another figure starting to approach down the main road as well. Usually, if you were to walk down the main road, it meant you were no one to mess with. Maloken was very infamous in the city already, and easily gained the title "Alpha Wolf." He was surprised someone else was walking down the main road. However, no emotion was shown as they passed by each other. Time seemed to slow down, as their auras washed over each other, before they both pass by to their areas.

Maloken finally found the gas station where he would meet his contractor. Being as late as he was, he was guessing his contractor was waiting.

Up the road, about a block or two, Little Red could sense steady footsteps coming towards her direction, steadiness that protruded confidence as if the town's cold winds and dead empty silence wasn't eery nor out of the ordinary. He was a tall figure, well much taller than her at least, she could make out how his built wasn't scrawny but big and lean.. But size never intimidated her(LOL, size doesn't matter hehe), it actually shot ribbons of adrenaline through her body, but she knew it wasn't the time to engage in fighting since there wasn't reason to. They eventually passed each other, her smaller frame looking much like a child within the second they crossed paths, both making their way to their own destinations.

An abandoned warehouse, How.. original.. but she slipped in nonetheless, meeting with her dealer who was a old aged man who didn't try to hide his gray hair under his ivy hat, hunched over a cane with a gentle grandpa-like smile as he stood in the spotlight of one of the dim lights that lit the warehouse. Appearing in front of him in her shadow form, she cocked her head at him but his teethless smile didn't waver but rather he stepped forward towards her. 'Scanning' him with her EPS, Little Red could tell he had a small hand gun under his thick wool jacket but it would do nothing to her in this form. You can't shoot a shadow but she doubt that the gun was meant for her in the first place.. In shadow form, she towered over the old man, looking down at him waiting for him to say something or make a move. But he didn't speak, instead gave her a large tan envelope with contents of her target inside as well as a first deposit before he stepped back with a tip of his hat and walked away, ending their first encounter.

Maloken.. 19... Alpha Wolf... Little Red and the Wolf huh..? She had a smirk on her shadowed face before the form disappeared into thin air, leaving a black smoke like aura in her place.

Maloken pushed the door of the gas station open, the fresh air from outside flooding into the dimly lit store. The young man walked past the door, before closing it behind him, hearing the click of the locks as he walked down the main hall. He looked at the cheap product inside, looking around at the food and drinks that were being sold. In the directions that his contractor gave him, he was supposed to order a bottle of Lemon Cerovu, and a box of donuts. Grabbing the bottle of whisky, and a box of cheaply made donuts, he gave the products to the cashier, who was a middle aged man with a long beard. Seeing the very strange order, the vendor raised an eyebrow before putting the pieces together. Without saying a word, he gestured with his finer as the two walked behind the counter, and into the employees lounge. The vendor looked around inside the room, before pushing a piece of brick aside, revealing a large lever. The vendor pulled it, opening a doorway, that led into a large room, perfectly lit up and well organized. In the middle of the room, Maloken already knew that it was his contractor, a man with slick black hair combed to the side, adorned with a slick black suit, a diamond watch sitting on his wrist. As Maloken walked towards him, taking the seat across from him, the man smiled, before curtly nodding.

"I heard the last man that took longer than a few minutes to tell you about the job is no longer around, so I am just going to keep it short. Once you leave this room, I have left you a folder filled with information about who you need to kill, and your first paycheck. For a quick summary, the girl's name is Little Red. You can tell she's smart, since she actually disguises her face, unlike you infamous kings. You'll have to be careful with this one. Good luck."

Without even saying a word, Maloken nodded before leaving the room, back into the gas station. He grabbed the clear folder before walking out of the door. Looking through the pictures of his prey, his eyes narrowed as he looked at the photos. That looked exactly like the little girl he passed by! Looking down the main road, his body started to meld into the shadows, walking down the main road to where he saw the girl last.

Little Red had sensed a familiar presents from a mile away, she could've continued on and ignored whatever they were planning, or perhaps even killed them right there within the shadows however sizing them up was the smarter plan for now.. Who were they even looking or waiting for? People don't usually just 'hang out' within the shadow realm, not without a reason anyways. The shadows hid everyone's identity however, causing it even more harder to detect who it might've been, gender and characteristics that makeup someone were all washed away within the shadows.

Before making it into their line of sight she swiftly solidified herself into human form, just like the Little Red Riding Hood of children's stories, Little Red carried a basket delicately on her arm which held her target's information as well as other rather normal commodities that a child would get on a run to the store such as some bakery sweets, her shortblade, and a glass bottle of pink lemonade. Making gentle steps down the sidewalk, she nonchalantly continued her way as if not realizing someone was closer than she thought. The only light that came off the girl was the occasional gleam of her silver cross that bounced off her chest as she walked and glowing red eyes from the fox mask that was unsure if it was from the mask itself or from the one wearing it..

As she was walking down the road, the air around the girl and the road started to cool. Suddenly, out of the shadows from a nearby wall, a large scythe connected to a chain flies out towards the young girl from the shadows of the wall without warning.

Little Red could tell the temperature was dropping but she couldn't feel such cold that she continued to walk, stopping calmly seconds before a blade came flying towards her. As it was about to connect with her face, she let out a breath from under her mask before seeming to disintegrate into a black liquid that was a shadow. The shadow reappeared a few feet in front of where she used to stand, a black misty aura before her human form appeared, not looking back at where the attack had happened.

The scythe continued for a few more feet before it jerked back towards where it was thrown. The scythe silently sliced through the air before landing right into the owner's hand. The shadows on the wall started to solidify, as Maloken stepped out of the shadows, another scythe in his other hand. For every step he took, frost started to spread on the floor, the air now dense with cold, every breath turning into mist. His eyes were gray and cold, just like a wolf's.

Glancing over her shoulder, she recognized the man, her target. The Wolf, Alpha Wolf. He was also the man she passed previously, was it a coincidence that he was coming after her while also having crossed paths less than an hour ago? Who knew. The air around them was still as her eyes soaking him up, his expression, his attire, the way he moved, his appearance, his build, the weapon he held, everything. The cape of her red hood flapped in the cool wind, the hood staying securely on top of her head as little strands of black hair poked out at some places. However she didn't feel like fighting him yet so instead of fully turning her body towards him, she raised her fox mask just enough for him to see the side of her mouth before slyly smiling followed by playfully sticking her tongue out. Before she disappeared in a black mist, Little Red left him with the sound of her fading little giggle, leaving the vicinity almost instantly.

Till be meet again, Mr. Wolf..

Maloken continued to walk towards her, but then stopped, as he watched her turn her head towards him. His eyes narrow, before she stuck her tongue out from her mysterious fox mask. She was small, but he could tell she was undeniably agile and quick. Her hood flapped in the winds he was generating, small wisps of black hair poking out from her mask. His teeth clenched before he got ready to chuck his scythe again, but she was already gone at the moment he had his scythe prepared. He could her giggles echo through the main road.

"The little red, and the wolf. There won't be any lumberjack to save you this time."

TIME SKIP - NEXT MORNING

The morning had just set in, the sun rising slowly over the city as birds chirped their morning away, waking some people up to star their day as well. The time is around 7, the sky is a bit cloudy however the temperature is oddly cool around the 60º to 75º that morning especially for the beginning of fall. Perhaps there will be snow this year.. Children are leaving for school, adults to their office jobs or setting up their shops, the day has begun.

❁Roxie Crimson | Little Red

Roxie had a good sleep last night, rolling over to see her alarm clock flash 6:58AM in red digital print. 2 more minutes of sleep.. Burring her head into the cotton softness of her pillow, closing her eyes before opening them feeling what was like a second had passed but 7 o'clock shown on the clock and rang the alarm nosily. Shutting it off after her fingers danced around the top of the clock to the find the off button, she lazily crawled out of her bed, her white blanket wrapped around her like her red hood cape but a white hood would be too noticeable for blood stains anyways. The white blanket dragged behind her as she walked to the bathroom with a dazed expression.

Splashing herself with cool water after doing all the daily morning routine, she felt awake as a cheerful smile appeared on her face as if all the murders and deaths she's seen in her short life hadn't affected her at all. As if they never happened, not even the deaths she caused in the mental hospital at age 8.. Nonetheless she got dressed in an olive green dress and a pink cardigan sweater, a rather summery outfit especially for the season and weather outside but she believed the sweater made it weather appropriate. Put a pink bow at the back of her hair to pull some hair out of her face, she looked as innocent as a puppy, adorable.

Making a quick pancake breakfast, getting the scent of sweet maple syrup on her as well, Roxie ate and quickly left her apartment, fumbling with the key as she locked her door. Rushing down the stairs, it was a 20 minute transit to her work, the time was 7:42 and her shift was at 8. She was always a little late for work no matter how early she woke up, needing to be better at time management.

The tall boy looked outside of his window, hearing the birds chirp outside of his house, the trees rustling with the cool wind that continued to drift by. The cool draft rushed into his room, but with no affect on the young man. His eyes were narrowed, all serious, and with no emotion. He didn't have a morning identity, and instead, just walked around covered up. He didn't have a day job, since he made so much money off of killing. Walking away from the window, he quickly slipped on a white long sleeve shirt with a large black bomber jacket. The jacket had a fur neck cover, which he personally liked, even though it felt itchy at times. Covering his hair with a normal black hat, and slipping on black sunglasses to his his eyes from the public, no one could tell that the boy was the "Alpha Wolf."

The morning was young, being about 9 o'clock when he stepped out of his house. Looking around at the stores that opened, his sensitive nose picked up on a pleasant scent just down the road. Following his keen senses, he found himself in a small flower shop. The vibrant colors popped out beautifully, his eyes entertained with the various colors. However, his face showed no emotion as he continued to look around, spotting a boquet of white roses.

Roxie had gotten to the shop at 8:02, the owner of the shop only gave her a forgiving smirk before going to the back to bring the flowers to the front, following her lead and bring out from flowers to the front with her boss. By the time they had finished setting out shop, a few people were already asking to buy single flowers or small bouquets, nothing too extravagant. Her boss, Annie Thorn, was only but a few years older than her and head flower arranger of the shop. Doing special requests of bouquets for large events such as weddings, funerals, and of the sort. While Roxie wasn't half bad at arranging flowers herself, she still had a lot of improvements so she was tasked with the smaller events such as parties, middle school promotions and below.

It was a normal day, people came in and out as they pleased and Roxie sat on her high stood in front of register, a red apron worn that hung a few inches above her dress which some could consider as her work uniform. "And that was be $22.42 for your 24 white rose bouquet." Ringing a man up with a cheerful smile, her legs dangling from the chair as she swung them lightly, "$22? That's an absurd price! I demand a discount!" The man becoming agro, slamming his flat palm on the glass table which shook not only the cash register but herself as well, "I-I'm sorry sir! I can't give you a discount..!" Roxie's voice shuttering as she tried her best to calm the man down, "This is highway robbery! That is almost a dollar a rose for this poorly grown bunch. I only came here because it was convenient but seeing as how you're basically stealing my money, I will take these roses and pay with the time I have wasted here." The man taking the roses from Roxie's little grasp, shaking the stool that she sat on and almost knocking her over while he was at it, "N-no sir! You can't do that!" Trying to stop the man as she hastily jumped off the stool, jogging to him as she held onto the arm that held the roses, "Y-you need to pay, sir!" Doing her best to sound assertive but the distress on her face only make her look weak and smaller than she was, "Get your hands off of me!" Pushing the young girl away from him, letting her stumble back, tripping on a container that held peonies and feeling herself beginning to fall.

@National

As the young girl began to fall, she could feel something strong catch her before her back hit the floor. If she looked, she would've seen a young, tall man wearing a pair of sunglasses, a black hat keeping any of visibility of his smooth, gray and black hair. His hand that was placed on her back pushed up a little more, pushing her back up on her two feet. Without anyone being able to react, his other hand shot out, grabbing the other mans shoulder. Maloken yanked the man closer, holding him up a few inches from the ground.

"I'd suggest putting down the flowers, and giving the girl here an apology. I don't think you want to pay more than just your time here on your poor attempt of a robbery. Trust me, I don't think it would be fun at all."

His tone wasn't aggressive, but it was terrifyingly intimidating, and it was only made worse combined with his sheer size and strength.

The man turned around as he saw his 'light push' was much harder on her small frame than he expected, a tall man catching her before she fell. Eyes squeezed tight as she felt a firm hand bring her back to her two feet, Roxie glanced up at the covered yet familiar face yet she showed nothing but surprise in her expression. Standing steady, she wanted as Maloken took the man lifted him off his feet with any hesitation let alone a struggle to lift the man. "H-hey man, theres no need for violence! T-there was a miscommunication you see, she was the one trying to rob me!" The man spoke letting go of the roses to fall the floor however Roxie practically dove to get the roses from not hitting the ground and bruising, lightly scrapping her elbow on the cement ground.

"I-I didn't try to rob you sir..!" Her voice came out a mouse-like, obviously shaken up as she quickly popped to her feet. "Yeah, you weren't trying to because you were." The man grumbled as he remembered that she was still there, Roxie lightly touching her savior's arm with her free hand, "b-but please let him down, i-it was my fault.. I guess-" "Yeah, let me down, listen to the little lady. She even said it was her fault!" The man not really have a filter, not knowing when to or when not to speak.

@National

His eyes were hidden, however he still narrowed them.

"Do you really think I can believe that? First of all, they didn't rob you. This economy allows you to market your items to your own pricing. Second of all, I was watching everything that happened. With how loud you were, everyone was. And i'm pretty sure everyone in this store could agree with me, that this isn't her fault."

Maloken looked back down at the young girl, seeing her holding his arm.

"Do me a favor, and go retrieve your manager for me. She's the one in charge here."

Roxie looked up at Maloken with shakey eyes, hestitating to nod before completing a full one but before she even moved a step for her postion, Annie was already walking out form the back. Walking up the 4 that stood out of shop making a rather loud scene, one of them being her employe, she quickly asked with a stern look on her face, "What is going here? I'd like to know why my employe does not only seem scare out of her mind but also have an injury." Like a mother, Annie noticed every little detail but that was partly due to her job as well, "And why are you hold up this man if you don't mind me asking." Her arms reaching out for Roxie as she basically stumbled to her boss, Annie wrapping a protective arm around Roxie. "A-Ah no, i-it's not his fault," Pointing at Maloken, "He was actually helping me but this man had gotten angry about the price.. I-I'm sorry that I caused this problem." Crattling the bouquet of roses in her arm.

Maloken looked at the old man, before looking at the manager.

"This man attempted to rob your store, and all I did was making sure that it didn't happen. Your employer was pushed by this man, and was hurt from his actions. You're the manager, so what happens here is your choice."

Looking away, Maloken drops the man suddenly, his eyes now fixed on the young woman. (Roxie.)

Annie narrowed her eyes to the man that was finally dropped, the man slumped on the ground at the sudden lack of gravity, "He tried to rob a flower store, that is on another type of low for an old man especially after seeming to attack my young employee. Keep him here, I'm calling the police." Annie turned around to get the phone, leaving Roxie awkwardly by herself as her eyebrows furrowed with worry, looking down at the bouquet of red roses that weren't wilted or bruised in the slightest, appearing vibrant and on the verge of full bloom.

"T-thank you.." Roxie spoke sheepishly and only taking occasional glances up at Maloken, the man on the ground slowly backing away as the people on the street simply avoided him. A quick moment passed before the man popped up like a spring and started running the opposite direction, pushing past the crowd to get as far away as he could.

Maloken nodded to Roxie, looking at the roses that she was holding.

"I don't know much about flowers, but they look like they're worth whatever price he was griping about. They're very vibrant."

Maloken's ears perked up as he could hear some of the people on the streets gasping. He turned his head slightly, clearly seeing the pudgy man attempting to make a break for it. Maloken fully turned in the direction of thean, taking a step as he spoke.

"One Mississippi."

The man was now a quarter down the street, people gasping and complaining as they were being shoved out of the way.

"Two Mississippi."

The pudgy man was halfway down the street, his chest heaving from his running.

"Three."

The pudgy man continued to run, before rounding the corner. Right as the man turned around, seeing no one around, he turned around again, seeing a horrific surprise standing in front of him. The pudgy man ran right into Maloken, who seemingly appeared out of nowhere in the blink of an eye in front of the old man.

"Going somewhere?"

Roxie's expression perked up when she heard Maloken say the flowers were pretty, looking up at him a innocent little smile as if what he had said brought back a little hope in her eyes. Seeing as Molaken began to walk towards the flower thief, her eyes followed him as he counted slowly before seeming to disappear, a sly little smirk appeared under her breath. Her boss came out in a rush, still on the phone with the police, "Where are they both?" She mouthed, "Yes, I am still no the line.. Yes, Annie's Flowers on xxx street, yes. Thank you... Where are they?" Questioning the still shaken up Roxie, her eyes feeling pity for the young girl. "I-I don't.. I don't know.. The man ran off and the taller one followed after him.. I don't know.." Wanting to cower in shame that she hadn't been able to do anything.

Meanwhile, the old man in the midst of thinking he escaped and making note to never take that route ever again, he fell back with a thunt before realizing the man who held him up last time was right in front of him.. Horror struck his eyes quickly, "I-I was.. Give me some slack man! I have a job and kids, just let me go from a man to man stand point.. I won't bother that girl or go near there anymore." Basically pleading to Maloken as people walked around them staring, wondering why they were looking like a peasant begging to his King or of some sort of situation..

Maloken started to walk towards the man, every single step silent and quick.

"You say to free you from a man to man standpoint, but what you just did was unmanly. You attempted to rob, and with what I know, you could just be telling me a lie. I don't want no proof, I don't want no more talk. You're going to the police, and that is my final word. You're not going to run away again. You're not going to blame it on the little girl. You are going to turn yourself in to the police, and explain to them what you did wrong."

Maloken crouched down now,  his eyes level to the man. He takes off his sunglasses, and the air around them instantly chills. The eyes were completely wolflike and hungry, the mix of the icy blue and gray storm colors being an intimidating beauty. The eyes gave out an incredibly intimidating and terrifying aura, to the point where the pedestrians around them would freeze in their own tracks in fear.

"Capiche?"
