Futuristic Light Space

(Option 2 has been chosen with 1 Vote!)

You aren't sure what might happen if you step back into the cockpit - especially if when you go in there, there could be another you in there! Or maybe the whole scene will change? Who knows! Instead, you step back, away from the doorway, and consider what other options you have.

1. Quickly go back into your sleeping quarters.

2. Open the door to Karl's sleeping quarters

3. Walk to the aft end of the passageway
The Omen of Death The Omen of Death Let's go to the aft end of the passageway, that is the only choice that we have not exhausted before.

After all this craziness, you decide it's finally time you truly take it upon yourself to fix your situation. If you are indeed trapped inside the Light Space dimension, then the only way of getting the ship back to real space that you can think of, would be to force the Jump Drive to reactivate, and hope that it completes the jump. The Jump Drive access chamber is at the rear of the ship, beside the cargo hold.

From where you are standing, you can see the large hatch leading into the cargo hold, at the rear end of the passageway. You start walking down the passage towards the other end of it, when suddenly the walls halfway down the passage bend outwards in a twisting, blurred mass of warped matter! You quickly stop, and take a step backwards, watching the wall warping in all sorts of odd directions, blurring outwards with sparkling lines of light.

After a few moments, the wall flattens out once more, and looks normal again. However, you feel completely freaked out. Perhaps, you decide, you will return to this end of the passageway but for right now you decide its better not too...

1. Quickly go back into your sleeping quarters.

2. Open the door to Karl's sleeping quarters

My sleeping quarters seem to lead to my grandaugter's time period, let's check out Karl's again, to see if we can gain more insight as to how I previously escaped from someone that is perhaps from another time period.

You decide that with everything that had gone on previously, maybe something would have changed with Karl's sleeping quarters, maybe something that could give some insight about something? However, when you opened up the door, you were greeted with the same sight that you were given last time, nothing - just whiteness.

No floor, no walls, no room - just the endless expanse of pale white light that surrounds your starship. Or so it would seem, it just looks like the outside, but maybe you can't perceive depth with just a blank slate of white?

And considering stepping into your quarters brought you to another time, maybe this was just another wonky space-time mess and it could lead to something? However there is always the risk that it is just an empty void and you may end up falling forever or something similar in nature. You think back, and remember a saying that 'Only foolish men make decisions based off of their experiences.' or something of that nature.

1. Close Karl's door again.

2. Hope there is something else on the other side of the doorway, and step through...

You stick your foot through the doorway, and it vanishes from sight. You feel it passing through an invisible wall, like sticking your foot through a flowing sheet of water. However, when you pull your foot back to this side of the doorway, you can see it again, and it feels fine. You take a deep breath, and plunge through the doorway...

You stumble to a halt as you pass through. As your face passes the invisible wall in the doorway, the endless white expanse of nothingness vanishes from sight, to be replaced with Karl's sleeping quarters! You sigh with relief as there was actually something behind it! You look around the room. There's a bunk against one wall, a closet with Karl's clothing against another wall, and a small desk unit with some of his various odds and ends.

Turning to look out the door, you can see the passageway fine. Opposite Karl's open doorway, you can see the door hatch to your own sleeping quarters, and it is closed shut. Unfortunately nothing else seems out of the ordinary or looks like it will help you understand this mess.

1. Head back out into the passageway.

2. Wait around, and see if your granddaughter comes past this room.

Well, you know that this location does exist aboard your starship, and is not, after all, an endless expanse of whiteness. You decide to head back out into the passageway. Stepping through the doorway, you feel yourself passing through an invisible wall again, and then look behind you. Where Karl's room had been was again a vast expanse of endless pale light. Very strange...

You press the button in the wall, and close his door.

Considering for the time being, it looked as if your options were exhausted, you come to the conclusion of the follows, that the ships passageway, appears to be stuck in your time-frame, going near the cockpit looks as if it is happening before you even made the jump, however you never went in, so you don't know if walking in there WOULD mean you were going to the past. Karl's room on first glance looks like it was gobbled up by the white expanse of Light-Space, and finally your sleeping quarters appears to be in the future.

And the aft end of the hallway had that... Warping going on... For the time being you decide it would be best to go back into your sleeping quarters, as that appears to be the only way to get assistance of some kind or something along those lines.

So you quickly step back into your - that is, her - sleeping quarters in the timeframe its sitting in. You can barely make out voices in the distance, probably your granddaughter and her co-pilot talking in the cockpit. You wonder what is going on. Then you hear the ship's computer's voice saying "Intruder Alert! Closing All Doors!"

A light flashes above the door, and you realize that the ship's computer, in her future time era, is about to close and lock all the doors on her ship!

1. Stay inside your sleeping quarters.

2. Head back into the passageway.

(Option 1 has been chosen with 1 vote sorry for the wait!)

You decide to stay put. The door slams shut, and clicks as the locking mechanism moves into place. You are now locked inside your granddaughter's sleeping quarters, at some point in the future... It feels weird, mostly because according to her, you died years ago. However, she said you made it out of the starship accident alive.

However... You know many people have tried to understand and hypothesise over how time travel works, and wether there is but one timeline, or many branching off, depending on people's actions. You wonder if it is certain that you will survive, or if perhaps you will die, and your granddaughter will never have existed. Just trying to work out how time works begins to give you a headache, so you decide to focus on the present.

The computer said there were intruders aboard. That must have been what the shuddering of the ship had been - a pirate's starship docking with the Andromeda. If pirates had come aboard, they would try to kill everyone, so they could steal the ship and its cargo.

As you realise that, you also realise that you are now locked inside a room, with no way out unless someone breaks in from the outside, or your granddaughter has the computer unlock and open the doors. Then you notice a gun on the floor - the pistol your granddaughter lost!

You can use it to protect yourself, however, you realise she must now be unarmed, and unable to defend herself against the pirates! If you hadn't appeared out of nowhere and surprised her, she would still have her gun! You curse yourself and the predicament you are in.

You grip the gun in one hand, and wait to see what will happen. The intruder alarm continues to blare, and occassionally you hear small explosions. The pirates must be blasting hatches open as they move through the starship.

Suddenly you hear the sound of feet on the metal floor of the passage, on the other side of the door. Is it pirates? Has your granddaughter come back for her gun - or to see if you are still here? You notice lights above the door button changing - someone is unlocking the door to this room!

1. Aim at the doorway, and pull the trigger the moment the door slides open!

2. Stand beside the door, with your back to the wall - out of sight from the doorway.

Yeah, np!

2. Not worth the risk, and they could be expecting someone on the other side. Better to hide and ambush the person if it turns out to be a pirate.

You quickly move to beside the door, in case pirates are waiting to shoot inside the room. The door swishes open, but no-one comes in. You hear your granddaughter's voice, "Damn! I guess he's gone..."

Before you can call out, she rushes off down the passageway, back to the cockpit.

"Hey! I'm still here!" you shout out, but she doesn't hear you over the blaring intruder alarm. Well, you think, at least the door is open now.

You head back out into the passageway. Suddenly, that strange blurring phenomena takes place just in front of the cockpit door! The walls of the passageway around the doorway stretch out in lines of color, twisting and blurring. Then the strange effect seems to move toward you, down the passage! In a few seconds, it will reach where you stand, beside the doors to your quarters, and Karl's quarters! You had best act fast! You stepped out far enough that it wouldn't make a difference where you went as you sit in the middle of both quarters in between.

1. Dive into your quarters!

2. Quickly open the door to Karl's quarters!

All this temporal stuff is giving me a headache to keep track of lol. I think 1. Is the better choice?

(Option 1 has been chosen with 1 vote!)

You quickly dive through the doorway into your quarters, emerging through the 'time wall' into the future. You are once more inside your granddaughter's quarters. The intruder alarm is still ringing on her ship, and you hear another explosion as the pirates try to blast their way through the ship's interior hatches.

You are starting to freak out - if you step through the door, you will be back in your own time - but will the spatial warping, the blurring of matter that killed Karl, be waiting for you on the other side of the door? Yet, if you remain where you are, it will only be a matter of time before the pirates find this room. On top of that, what of your granddaughter? Is there some way you can help her? You remember her words - supposedly it is she who saves you, from being stranded in Light Space back in your own time... What can you do?

1. Wait to see if the pirates, or your granddaughter, find you.

2. Head back into the hallway, and hope the blurring phenomena has passed.

(Option 1 has been chosen with 1 vote!)

You hear a loud explosion, and hear debris bouncing around the passageway. The pirates must have blasted into the passage through the inner cargo bay doors, at the rear end of the passageway! You hear stomping feet coming down the passageway, then they stop. You hear blasting and smashing sounds - they are trying to break into one of the rooms down that end of the passageway. They must be going to look at each room, one by one, as they work their way toward the cockpit. You hope your granddaughter has locked the hatch to the cockpit, though you know that if the pirates could break into the passageway from the cargo bay, then they can get into any room on this ship...

There must be something you can do...

1. Head back into the hallway, and hope the blurring phenomena has passed.

2. Aim the gun at the doorway, and wait for the pirates to arrive at the doorway, then open fire!

3. Do what you did last time and stand beside the door, with your back to the wall - out of sight from the doorway.

3. You don't know how many pirates there are and what firepower they pack, so it is better to play it safe. If things go South you could always take out as many pirates as you can and escape to the other time period.

(Choice 3 has been chosen with 1 vote!)

You quickly again move to beside the door, in case the pirates arrive and find you. Minutes later, you hear footsteps on the metal passageway floor, coming up the passage toward your granddaughter's sleeping quarters. Then one of them pokes their head around the doorway. Luckily based on where you placed yourself, he does not see you...

However after a couple antagonizing seconds that felt like they were gnawing at your soul for ages, the pirate decides to slowly approach in, gun trained but he still does not see you, now he has his backside exposed, so this could be your opportunity to shoot! Or you could use the moment to slip out of the room back to your own time, but there's no telling if that blurring left the area, but then again, if you do shoot you could miss, or something else to that end.

Or you could simply wait it out and hope he doesn't turn in exactly the right manner to catch you.

1. Blast the pirate when he isn't looking.

2. Slip back out of the door back to your time.

3. Wait there and hope he doesn't turn around in the right way.
