backstory : (tw: abuse) Suki's father is the mayor of town, and her family is generally seen as the pinnacle of local society, but things aren't as they appear. Suki's father is extremely abusive to his family, taking out the stress of his job on his wife and, eventually, his children. It's always been Suki's job to care for her family and make sure her younger brother doesn't get the brunt of his abuse. Suki has learned to take out the stress of home by ruling the high school and staying away from her house as often as possible.

Personality:

Matt is goofy, charming and the friendliest person you’ll ever meet, willing to be your friend from the moment he meets you. He has natural leadership skills, and an easy going, laid back personality that makes him easy to listen to and even easier to get along with. He is always willing to help with whatever mundane tasks he’s presented with, and will never complain about it. He isn’t the smartest person in the world, though he does try his best in all of classes. He’s incessantly positive, and always finds the light in otherwise dark situations.

Matt is a bit naive, but not overly so, and trusts far too easily, unless given a reason not to. He’s always ready with some joke or hilarious anecdote—anything he can use to cheer his friends up. He worries about the needs of others before his own, and this leads him to forgetting to do basic things that he needs to do—like his homework, or eating, or sleeping. He’ll write down his schedule and still manage to be late to something. He’s terribly clumsy, and doesn’t really look where he’s going. This has led to more than his fair share of stupid accidents—like falling down the stairs or running into sign posts. He even manages to trip over his own feet—a trait that’s not exactly helpful as the captain of the football team.

Since Stella’s disappearance, his goofiness has been more refined. He’s become quieter, more introspective. It’s easy to see the difference. He still tries his hardest to be positive, but sometimes it gets hard.

Backstory:

Matt was born to Autumn and Jared Foster one surprisingly snowy Valentine’s Day in Benton Grove. From a young age, his father (the high school’s football team’s coach) insisted he do sports. For a while he did baseball, basketball and football, but realized quickly that he loved football more than he’d ever love the other sports. Overall his childhood was good, and when his little sister, Katie, was born when he was 12, they were inseparable. He was never good in school, much to his parents’ disbelief, even though he tried his hardest. When he was 15, he and Stella, his longtime best friend at that point, started dating. It was the happiest he’d ever been. They dated for two years before her disappearance, leaving him devastated and different. (WIP)

A role model. A hero. A home. Tululla has always been a good mother, she's protected her children from harm and she loves them so much. She is the only person in the family that never forced expectations onto Ada and has always supported her no matter what. She's held her when she's hurting and she's done whatever she can to help her reach her goals. They are incredibly close and Ada tells her everything. If she happens to have a night terror, her mom is the first to arrive in her room with loving words and sweet kisses to her forehead. Even though she's not her birth mother, she's the only person Ada will ever call her mom.

Unlike her mother, Anthony has always been more of a tough-love kind of guy and has held some form of expectations for all of his kids. This is mostly due to his own family and how they function, but he's tried to keep himself from becoming his own parents as he doesn't want to hurt his children in the same way. He has a bit of a temper and will explode from time to time but he always apologizes and tries to repair any damage he inflicted from his words. His relationship with Ada specifically is strained, mostly because of how hard she pushes herself and how she doesn't understand that she's going to fall apart if she keeps going the way she is.

Her older brother and oh so precious, he is like her best friend. When he lived at home they did everything together and were constantly getting into trouble. Once he left for college, it was difficult for Ada because she felt rather alone at school and within the house. She had spent so much time with him that it was difficult to function for a while. But she got the hang of it and he came home more often than not and even brought his incredibly wonderful girlfriend home last Christmas.

She is the newest addition to the Godfrey family and is someone that has always had an issue with Ada. They have never been close and rarely get along enough to get through the holidays. Unlike the other two Godfrey children, Enya was adopted when she was 12 years old, meaning she had a life before this family whereas Ada and Mykel were adopted before they were three years old. Enya has a lot of issues with Ada and often is the start of various rumors about her at school and even goes as far as starting drama at home when their parents try to get them to bond. Ada doesn’t understand the animosity and simply gives Enya space so she won’t make things worse.

This woman has always viewed Ada differently, mostly because she’s a reflection of Tululla and she despises that. She’s always been incredibly critical of Ada and has found ways to rip the wind out of her sails even if she’s done nothing wrong. The weekends spent at Rosamond’s house were always difficult for her as she had to sit through two days of getting picked on and pulled apart for every flaw. Despite the fact her grandmother gave her granddaughter a piece of her name, that’s as close as they have ever gotten. She is the main reason that Ada drives herself to exhaustion every day because she is striving to get just a piece of approval from the woman who loves and adores Ada’s siblings and father even if they do nothing but breathe.

Backstory — TRIGGER WARNINGS: cancer, depression, anxiety, verbal abuse from a family member
Anthony Godfrey was the second child that Rosamond Godfrey had with her husband Robert. Another little boy and the light of her life. He was everything to his mother and their family was happy for a long time. That was until his older brother Jonathon died in an absolutely terrible car accident. It destroyed the family and ultimately changed them from a happy and functioning unit to one that became set on being the best and not allowing feelings to cloud judgments. Rosamond wasn’t someone to mess with and she practically controlled her son’s life and made sure he fit the mold of a perfect man. With her career as a designer taking off, it didn’t take long for her to leave Robert as he turned to alcohol as a coping mechanism and therefore was unsuitable as a husband and father. So Anthony moved to New York with his mother and ended up going to the top college there and majored in film.

Becoming a director allowed him to travel all over the world and finally get a break from his overbearing mother. While his mother still supported him financially until his career really took off, he was still able to get a taste of freedom. After a few years of working around the clock, he became a highly desired director and his projects were always incredibly important and successful. This is how he ended up meeting an accomplished writer named Tululla Williams and boy did he fall hard and fast. She was younger than him by quite a lot and at that point, he was a single father, but it didn’t matter to either of them. She fell in love with Anthony and Mykel and so they were married after a year of dating. However, the sweet honeymoon period didn’t last.

Tululla fell ill with ovarian cancer and it devasted the new couple. It was difficult for them since Anthony was still having to travel a lot due to his current projects he had going. So they relied on his mother to take care of his wife and son. This did not end well and for the sake of everyone, Anthony moved his family to Benton Grove, allowing them to have a much calmer environment for Tululla to recover and for them to get away from Rosamond’s judgment. The family bought a modest home and kept their professions on the down-low, not really wanting people to befriend them due to their wealth. Tululla eventually recovered from her treatments and enjoyed life as a mother, writing a book while she raised Mykel, giving Anthony time to work on more local shoots so that he didn’t have to travel too far. A year after her recovery, Tulullah asked if they could adopt another child. This is how Adalezya came into the family. She was just a baby when they adopted her and it was love at first sight. Mykel was only six years old at the time and he was so excited to have a little sister and Tululla got to enjoy having a baby since she was unable to have one of her own.

While the family grew, so did the rumors about them. It wasn’t exactly common for people in the town to adopt multiple children of color, and their neighbors didn’t exactly approve of it. It made it difficult for Mykel and Adalezya when they got older because they weren’t allowed to play with the neighbor kids and this ultimately led to various whispers among the students and parents alike. Frankly, Anthony and Tululla were tired of it so they went out of their way to make life easy for their kids and held big parties for everyone in their class and eventually the amount of wealth the family had seemed to shut down all the neighborhood gossip and it no longer reached the family’s ears.

Although they had silenced the gossip in their block, they couldn’t stop the opinions of Rosamond herself who made frequent trips to the family’s house, determined to ‘see her only grandchildren’ when really she was there to see Anthony and Mykel only. You see, Rosamond had a lot of issues with Tululla in turn, she had issues with Adalezya. The reason that she disliked Tululla was that she found her to be incredibly inadequate. She 11 years younger than Anthony and couldn’t even provide him with his own biological children (as if getting cancer was her fault), and she felt that she didn’t raise the kids properly. She was too easy on them, didn’t force them out of their comfort zone or have them do anything ‘worthwhile’. However, it was difficult for her to get after Tululla, mostly because Anthony knew of his mother’s disapproval and was always there to protect his wife. Though he did not know of the same animosity he held for his daughter as she never said a word about it and simply thought this was what grandmothers were like. They were tough on the kids who were failures.

Adalezya had allowed Rosamond to turn her into a ‘failure’, someone that was too soft and too weak to accomplish anything in the world. So the girl began to try everything in order to find talent. Ballet, figure skating, soccer, softball, you name it and she’s tried it. While she wasn’t bad at these things, her grandmother still found her to be a waste of her time and didn’t have a piece of interest in anything she was doing. By the time she hit middle school, Adalezya decided to try acting in the school’s drama class since it was something related to her father’s job and she knew that Rosamond adored her son’s job. But the young girl didn’t manage to land anything more than understudy to the lead and it only caused her to receive the comment of her being only second best and how she didn’t deserve the name of Godfrey because Godfrey’s never played second best. It wasn’t in their blood.

This added fuel to the fire and caused the girl to develop an unhealthy relationship with perfection and winning. She pushed herself harder than ever in every single thing she did. She started working out more, singing, dancing, learning various instruments, taking acting classes over every break from school, all so that she could prove that she was a Godfrey. Naturally, her parents were unaware of the relationship she had with Rosamond and they simply thought their daughter was naturally a very intense perfectionist. They didn’t agree with how hard she pushed herself because they were fearful for her mental health but she told them that she was fine and that she could handle it all. This wasn’t the case.

Adalezya had her first major panic attack when she was practicing her lines for her role and she messed them up. She was so overwhelmed by the episode that she collapsed and had to be rushed to the hospital to make sure she was okay and didn’t suffer from a concussion from the impact. This was when she started to go to therapy and was diagnosed with severe depression, anxiety disorders, and a sleeping disorder. This was rather shocking to her parents because they didn’t understand how she was going through so many things and never told them. It became apparent that she was suffering when her sleeping disorder of nightmares morphed into night terrors.

She would wake up screaming and would be hyperventilating, scared out of her mind and her parents would have to comfort her until she fell asleep. They would sit with her for hours, making sure she was alright and didn’t need to be woken up. The night terrors persisted into high school when she landed the lead role in the play and experienced new kinds of stress and expectations from everyone around her. Because she was worried about not performing to her fullest extent, she started skipping her pills and would simply flush them down the toilet or throw them away in the trash at school so she didn’t suffer through any of the side effects. This was obviously something that didn’t help her and led to bad depressive episodes, mood swings, and panic attacks before performances. It wasn’t until she entered her junior year that she started taking her medications again, determined to get better so she stopped worrying everyone around her.

It wasn’t easy for her, especially since Enya was adopted by the family when Adalezya was 14 years old. Her younger sister never liked her, mostly because she felt like the girl monopolized Anthony and Tululla and was a ‘try-hard’ that didn’t deserve her popularity at school. The pressure at home and school was overwhelming for the girl so she could only fall back on her medications, scared that if she let it go on for any longer she would do something stupid. Nobody outside of her family knows anything about her disorders or the fact she’s on various medications as she never mentions it and never lets anyone come over to her house. From all the years of acting Adalezya has learned to masterfully mask her true self and hide all the painful emotions from prying eyes.

And now that she has been accepted into Julliard (on a scholarship because she doesn’t want her parents paying for her) she is determined to finish strong and leave town. She hasn’t had an easy life and it seems to just get worse every year. Especially with the disappearance of Stella still looming over the entire community, she feels trapped and like she’s being suffocated. It’s only a matter of time before she might slip up and fall back on old habits and destroy everything she’s created.

These girls have been competing in drama since middle school when Ada first got involved in it. Stella was someone who landed the lead roles even if it was just a silly little group project and she didn’t let Ada forget it. That was until high school at least. In freshman year when tryouts for the annual play happened, Ada landed the lead role and Stella was her understudy. It was sweet revenge on Ada’s end and just endless annoyance on Stella’s part. It was constant rivalry between the two and at one point Ada got mysteriously sick the night of the performance and she was positive that it was Stella’s fault. Unfortunately for Stella, Ada was able to still perform that night. When she went missing she wasn’t relieved or anything but it was certainly nice to finally not be looking over her shoulder all the time.

These two met during summer camp in sophomore year and have been friends ever since. He is someone that actually respects her boundaries and so she is able to relax around him and have fun. Their relationship started off as one on one acting classes but they soon started hanging out whenever they both had free time and didn’t use acting as an excuse for it. They have a sibling-like relationship but there is a huge rumor that they are dating because they are always together. Naturally, Ada gets grossed out by it and uses it as a chance to tease Troy just a little bit by explaining why she would never even think about kissing the guy.

Personality //

Landon knows that people find him intolerable, and he's fine with it. He's privy to lots of information shared with him during half-asleep pillow talk, drunken word-vomit (and let's be honest, real vomit,) not to mention bribes and bargains for a lost virginity here and there. Wanna get with your crush, but scared because of your lacking experience? Landon is your guy. Been dying to know what a threesome is like, but too nervous to orchestrate it yourself? He could pull some strings for you. Girlfriend pissing you off, but you just can't deal with chicks right now, and need to do something to, ahem, blow off steam? He'll even pick up some flavored lube for you on the way. Landon has a lot of dirt on a lot of people, and he's hated for it. Ordinarily, this would've gotten him thrown out of BGHS a long time ago; fortunately, he's not a malicious kid, and other than a few brutal beatings he had coming to him from angry boyfriends, fathers, and more than a couple of girls with a missed period, people have decided to simply keep him at a distance for the time being. To kiss and tell holds no benefit to him, but the truth has a funny way of coming out, which is something Landon has been made aware of many, many times. He would argue that he's just so irresistibly charming that people just can't stay away, but the truth is, not many have tried befriending him, if at all. It's always about what they need and what he can do for them-- usually that's either a hookup or a punching bag. So, while it seems he may spend lots of "intimate" time with countless people, the fact is that it's not quite intimate at all. You'd be surprised at how quickly people leave after they get what they want.
Aside from the steamy extracurriculars, Landon also takes great efforts to avoid pragmatism-- he is by no means sensible or practical, and definitely likes to do things his way. This usually involves a bit of drama, flamboyance, and good dash of absolute buffoonery. No matter what he portrays on the outside it's best to keep in mind that you will never, under any circumstances, know exactly what he thinks. Instead of opting for abrupt stoicism, Landon leans towards a more unorthodox approach, which is essentially covering everything up with flirting, acts of service, and making-out. Can't say how you feel with your mouth on a nice pair of willing lips-- and, er-- other body parts.

Backstory//

Landon doesn't have much to show outside of his bustling school life. His roots go back to Ireland, but that's as much as his father, Owen, tells him; and honestly, he doesn't care to know much else. Their relationship never did progress past general pleasantries anyhow, as Owen spent most of his time locked away writing some philosophy bullshit, living off his pension. As an older man, he tended to be old fashioned and exceedingly removed from his son-- Landon just saw it as the perfect environment to sneak in girls every weekend. While his mother is a complete mystery, Landon's guess is that she either died or left before he could remember, and he deals with that by befriending all the mothers in town who can't escape his charm, which surprisingly comes in handy. Mowing lawns, painting houses, washing windows-- ever since he was a boy, Landon's worked non-stop to please the neighborhood. At first, adults loved him and didn't mind their little Jack and Suzy spending time with him; but as rumors of Landon's promiscuity began to circulate, work was harder to come by. The childless spinsters on his street still absolutely adore his company, but the majority of Brenton Grove's white-picket-fence population tends to steer clear.
Landon and his father knew Stella quite well from childhood, as their house's proximity to one another afforded them lots of play time as kids. He recalls most summer days with her being the sweetest and warmest. As they entered high school, Landon quietly slipped away from her life; for reasons mostly unknown. He wouldn't admit it now, with Matthew Foster being her mourning boyfriend and all, but Landon did always have a small (big) crush on Stella growing up. Some might say she's the sole reason for his weakness for pretty girls, but it could just be a rumor. I mean, who doesn't like pretty girls, anyway?






Physical description //

Thanks to his dark tousled hair and syrupy brown eyes, it's hard not to feel the warmth of Landon's presence. With the addition of a 6'1" frame, he's sure to turn a few heads here and there; whether that's due to his good looks, or perhaps something more like his nauseatingly flirtatious mode of speech, is dependent on the situation. He's not particularly muscular however, and often complains about the state of his lanky and angular body. Landon's hands are large and dotted with callouses and marks from his time spent playing instruments, his favorite being the harp.

    Troy Yang. The second-fiddle to Matthew Foster's football grandiose. Like the rest of his starting teammates on the O-line, Troy is a man physically endowed both through genetics, and the strict football exercise routine. Strong, tall, and confident, Yang exudes confidence wherever he goes. It's what his father drilled into him as a kid, and what he earned on the field.

    Troy stands at 6 feet 3 inches with a durable mesomorph body type. Beneath his Benton Groves letterman jacket are a set of muscled arms, visible abs, and a sharp v-line. Overall, Kye is a fairly introverted person, but fun to be around nonetheless. He's pretty laid back and doesn't get frustrated too easily, a good quality especially for a musician. Whenever someone shows some degree of kindness towards him, he immediately takes them in as his friend. Despite his tendency to hide in his room, he can navigate social situations pretty well.

Kye is a very insecure, shy person and has a bit of trouble coming out of his shell. He's also incredibly hard on himself, he has a tendency to bring himself down. So far, Kye has lived a rather uneventful life. He had lived in town his entire life, not really being able to afford nicer things like vacations. He spent most of his early childhood closed off from everyone else, concerning everyone around him. He was put into therapy at a young age to help with his minor social anxiety. He's still closed off to this day, but he's certainly gotten better.

Kye was given his first musical instrument... a piano. His parents had pooled all their money just for that one thing. Just for him. It was flattering, really. He started playing and fell in love the very moment he did. He started taking lessons, determined to improve his skills. In this way, the fact that he was his biggest critic was a good thing; he saw every little mistake he made and improved it.

When Kye started high school, he went through serious bullying/harassment, to the point where even the thought of going to school the next day terrified him. He was always told to suck it up because stuff like that happened to everyone. He kept telling himself that he wasn't alone, but it didn't help at all... he still felt pretty lonely. He was already good at music at this point, and he enjoyed it very much, so music became a bit of a coping mechanism for him. BGHS eventually discovered the amount of talent Kye had, so they pretty much made him the poster child of the entire music department. He wasn't sure if he liked all the attention, but as long as he was playing music, it was fine with him.

He started giving his friend Stella piano lessons. She seemed to understand him more than anyone else he knew. And she understood piano very well... she even played for her boyfriend, and he liked it. This gave Kye a sense of satisfaction. In a weird way that he'd never felt before. After Stella's disappearance, he had this feeling that he couldn't trust the world.

And then he fell for her boyfriend. Oh god.

Kye's family, although they aren't perfect, treat him pretty well. At the very least, they understand that he needs his alone time. His mother, Jane Larson, loves him with all her heart and will do anything for him, but is financially unable to. His father, Derek Larson, just flat-out doesn't pay attention to him, and maybe that's for the better. Both parents are still alive and very much together, but they argue a lot and have been on the brink of divorce many times.

Kye considers his animals to be more of his "family" than even his own parents, and he was devastated when three of them died. He felt he was a bad pet owner, even though they were just getting old. He wishes he could have them back, even if only for a day.

- His parents got married straight out of high school because of a pregnancy scare
- Their relationship was rocky at first because they had only been dating for two months before they got married
- They made it work and eventually actually fell in love with each other

- However, his parents didn't want him skipping grades because they were worried he would burn out or would get targeted by older classmates
- While he didn't skip grades, he did take advanced/honors classes in order to have a stimulating school experience
- The lack of interest in extracurricular activities was a bit concerning though as he wasn't interested in anything other than learning how to play the drums properly
- His parents decided to get him involved in the school band in order to expose him to performing in front of others and get the basics of different types of drums

Backstory:

Tobias was born to Jessica and Anthony Jackson in southern Mississippi one sweltering summer day seventeen years ago. A great many things can be said of Cadei—he’s a piece of work—but perhaps most important is that he's honest and honorable, tending only to lie when he’s asked questions about how he feels or about his past. Cadei was born to two wealthy politicians, Tomas and Morrigan Jarvis in Melbourne, Australia. The first six years of his life were normal—he went to school and played outside with his friends, but when his father picked up and left one day out of the blue, everything changed. His mother, for a while, tried her best to care for Cade and his younger sister by one year, Maura, but Morrigan soon fell into depression, descended into alcohol and drug abuse. Cade tried his best to take care of both his mother and Maura, though there wasn’t too much an elementary/middle schooler could do. A few years passed, and his mother continued spiraling. Child Protective Services was eventually called by a neighbor, and Maura was taken away while Cade was at a friend’s house. This was all the trigger his mother needed, and when turned eleven she began to become emotionally abusive, to the point where he sank into a deep depression. This continued throughout the rest of his middle and into his high school years, His father only called once a month, reminding him to “behave for his mother”. Towards the beginning of highschool he began drinking and experimenting with drugs, as well as becoming your basic definition of a whore. Moving to America was supposed to be his saving grace, but instead he just hates it. He hates his mother, he hates America and he hates himself.

Rowan, above all, is a caretaker. That’s the way it’s been all her life, even when she was far too young to be taking care of everyone. She always puts the needs of her friends and family above her own, and is willing to drop whatever she’s doing to come to your rescue. She’s a good listener, a shoulder to cry on and an honest advice giver, willing to hold a crying friend for as long as it takes for them to feel better. Wiser than her years might suggest, Rowan has a weight and depth to her that many people underestimate due to her bubbly personality, and open confidence. Backstory:
TW: cancer, depression

Rowan was born and raised in Benton Grove, daughter to Samantha and Carter McNally, and oldest sibling of four. The first eight or nine years of her life were peaceful, happy even. She grew up, went to school, made friends and kept good grades, all while taking dance lessons at the local dance center. When she was 10, her father was called away on a business trip, and being the daddy’s girl that she was, Rowan missed him terribly and started throwing temper tantrums at school and at home, resulting in her getting in trouble often. Her father came and went every few months, until when Rowan was fifteen her mother was diagnosed with chronic leukemia. Her father came home to take care of the family, but sank into a depression as he watched his wife slowly get more and more sick, leaving Rowan to take care of her younger siblings. She never told anyone about the situation at home, and continues to take care of her friends, as well as her family. Her mom is still sick, and her dad still spaced out and withdrawn, so Rowan works double shifts at the local diner whenever she can.
