Hi guys!

Since we're all writers here, I assume we all share a love for the English language... And all the wonderful words within! Post your favorite words here, and the definition. Feel free to post as many words and as many times as you like!

Mine:

Mammon- riches or the people who possess them, upperclass

Vaalhaai- a shark from the coast of Africa

Gnome (slightly archaic)- A short or pithy saying or proverb, similar to a witticism

I struggle to find words I like in English, but I find them easily in other languages.

- Muy (Spanish)

- Bene (Italian)

- Requiescat (Italian)

- Fantastico (Spanish)

Random, but I love saying them. :)

Ixnay - To cancel. ex. Ixnay on this evening's plans, boys.

Gjallarhorn - Old Norse for Heimdall's 'yelling horn' signalling the start of Ragnarok.

Chrysanthemum - I always just liked to say this word. Also my favorite flower, nice to make tea out of as well.

wow these words are all really fancy

I just like words like 'puddle' and 'cobble'. I dunno, it's just weirdly fun to say those words.

There are lots of Japanese words I like too, it's a really pretty language. Same with Russian.

Since I learned the meaning of serendipity I really like that word. It means looking for one thing, but finding something else.
