• France 1901. A large series of mysterious murders have occurred in the metropolis Paris in the last three months. It’s the first time in history that the french wizarding community is in such turmoil since the victims include some of the most well known and prestigious wizard’s of all time. The victims get killed in a malicious non-magical way, and afterwards the murderer only leaving behind a small smaragd on top of the victim’s chest. Thus they are called les meurtres d’émeraude (the emerald murders).
  
  French aurors have been at first row to find a pattern in these murders, but they seem to go round in circles, and every week new deaths emerge. Whoever is responsible for these actions is not only cold-blooded and calculating, but also overly intelligent and always a step ahead of the french aurors.
  
  The wizarding newspaper le hibou (the owl) is keeping the murders on front page for nearly a month now which doesn’t make it easier for the Ministère des Affaires Magiques de la France. However, the situation threatens to escalate as the french Minister of Magic himself is found dead by an auror with a green smaragd on his chest.
  
  New elections are made more quickly than ever and the new president, keen to keep the wizarding world safe and find the murderer, creates a new program of law enforcement called rubis. Invited are some of the most intelligent french heads in diverse topics that are thought to be relevant in solving the case ‚émeraude‘.
