—BIOGRAPHY

A long long time ago, the Tā'ūn was founded by Latif's ancestor, a woman from Aswan. She wished to reshape the growing world in her image, so she traveled from a young age to recruit others who shared her radical view.

They slowly grew in numbers until they had footholds all over the world and were renowned through the underworld as some of the top tier fighters. Eventually the ancestor decided she wanted to keep the leadership within the bloodline and so she picked her most competent fighter and they had a child. And so it went for generations until Latif's grandfather came into power.

Grandfather had a vastly different view than his predecessors, he believed they should still be assassins and powerful but reforming the world with a hostile takeover just wasn’t really his cup of tea. So under his rule, he picked a select few fighters to remain and they wiped out the rest of the “league”. In just a few months, numbers in the thousands were decimated to a mere ten.

Grandfather fell in love with a woman in his inner circle and they had two children; a daughter and a son. The son got married and had Latif, his wife had a sister who already had two sons and was also within the inner circle. The daughter of grandfather vanished for a few years and returned with a daughter of her own.

With a large family of his own, Grandfather decided to train all the young ones from practically infancy, in the family business and killed all other inner circle members that weren’t related. So for years after, they ran the family as so; they would take requests from anyone for a large payment but also act in the sake of practicality. The family has a base of operations and an extensive network of connections so when they feel a gang or someone is encroaching on that, they take action. It doesn’t happen often but it has happened.

When Grandfather and his beloved wife died, they recognized Latif as the most likely to succeed as the next head after his father. Latif's father’s sister disappeared again after the death of her daughter (which was actually Latif's doing, he killed her as a trial of loyalty to his grandfather). She’s been m.i.a ever since. Latif's mother fell to sickness and asked to be allowed a warrior's death rather than go in such a shameful way. So his father killed her and lost himself to grief for weeks. His wife’s sister saw this as an opportunity to take over the family and start the old ways again. Not even a month after Latif's mother's death, she and her sons attacked him and his father. The aftermath was that one of her sons Latif's father, his father killed his aunt and Latif killed her two sons.

Not wanting to lose the family reputation, Latif sought out his aunt. It turns out she had been communicating with descendants from the old days of the league, whose parents had hidden them when the purge came. His aunt had collected a fair ten people. A father and his daughter, three sisters, a mother and her son, and finally a father and his son and their cousin.

Latif asked that a max of five people join him to continue his family's work and so his own little group has taken over the Tā'ūn. He runs it the same as his grandfather, however it is not only within the bloodline. His aunt decided to take the remaining people and move somewhere into the desserts of their homeland, Aswan, to live out their days quietly and peacefully.
