Chief.jpgYou are one of the three adventurers who arrived at the Tribal Lands, following a mysterious dream that led you to seek the Green Flame Witch. You don’t know much about her, except that she is a powerful and elusive sorceress who, for some reason, has a big bounty on their head. You hope to find her and learn more about her from the bounty that the village chief has offered, as well as learn more about the meaning of your dream. You arrived at the tribal village after a long and perilous journey through the wilderness. You were surprised to hear that the village chief was a human, as you expected the tribes to be mostly composed of beastfolk or other monster races. You wondered what his story was, and how he came to be the leader of these people. You also noticed two other adventurers who looked like they were here for the same reason as you. You wondered if they had the same dream as you, or if they were just after the money. You decided to keep an eye on them, as they could be potential allies or rivals.

MarketBeast.jpgYou walk around the village, looking for the chief’s hut. You come across a friendly alpha beastfolk who is running a fruit stand. He greets you with a smile and offers you some of his produce. You thank him, and decide whether or not to buy something. You ask him where you could find the chief, and he gives you directions. He says to go north of his shop and take a right at the end of the market. You should see a large hut. He wishes you good luck and waves goodbye. You followed his instructions and soon reach the chief’s hut. You saw the other two adventurers standing outside, waiting for their turn to enter. You take a closer look at them, trying to see if they had the mark of a god on their palms. The mark was a small symbol of crimson wings that appeared on your hand after you had the dream. You didn’t know what it meant, but you felt a strange connection to it. You wondered if the other adventurers had the same mark, or a different one.

You wait patiently for your turn to enter the hut. You hope to meet the chief and learn more about the Green Flame Witch. You also hoped to find out if the other adventurers were marked by a god, and if so, what that meant for your destiny. You felt a mix of curiosity, excitement, and fear as you prepared to face the unknown.

Finally, the three of you enter into the hut, one by one, briefly being able to hear the conversations. It would seem the other adventurers are also here to claim the bounty. You hope to work together with them and decide whether or not to strike up a conversation...

Dezo.jpgDezo isn't much of a fighter, more of a rogue, a thief. However, his newfound powers make him think otherwise. On the way to the Tribal Lands to seek out the bounty for the Green Flame Witch, Dezo takes the opportunity to hunt the wildlife and attack small monster tribes. At this point in Dezo's life, he like most of the common races have been brainwashed to view most other races as monsters. So, venturing into the Tribal Lands led him to cause more mayhem than usual, however, he only attacked unless provoked. The monster races hate the common races just as much. Though some are peaceful tribes. After practicing his magic, he setup a campfire and roasted some of the wildlife meat he acquired. He would rest for a few hours and then begin his journey to the village once again, this time feeling confident in his ability.

Arriving at the village, Dezo could hear the whispers of the tribe folk quietly degrading him because of his race... however, they would quickly hesitate as the village chief is also human. Strange, a human chief all the way out here deep in the Tribal Lands? Strange, Dezo wondered what his story was and would like to formally meet him. Looking around Dezo couldn't find a trace of the chief's hut. He seen two adventurers, each unique, each standing out in their own way. They couldn't be tribal folk, no way he thought. He made a mental note of the two and pressed forward eventually coming to a market where one in particular would stand out. An alpha beastfolk a rare and incredibly strong race, a sight to behold, truly, as they're so rare. He notices Dezo too and yell's over to him, "HEY HUMAN! Want to look through some of my wares?" Dezo makes his way over, the two chat for a bit and Dezo decides to buy some fruit, along with his cooked meat, he should be able to concoction quite a meal now. The beastfolk will answer many of Dezo's questions and will even give him guidance to the chief's hut.

Arriving at the chief's hut he would see the other two adventurers. Yep, he knew it, they couldn't have been tribal folk. Dezo will ponder in thought, maybe... they're marked too? Or perhaps it is coincidence, and they only want the money. One by one the adventurers would enter the tent, Dezo went in first. He was greeted by an old man with strange markings and a creepy smile. Dezo and the man would talk, come to find out his name is Dernaldo. A man whose life revolved around growing up in the Tribal Lands, a strange situation. He learned the way of the lands and grew strong, strong enough to start his own tribe. The man will explain that to the south, deep in the swamp The Lady, The Green Flame Witch, has been spotted and he needs adventurers to bring him her heart. He refused to give more details but offered up an insane amount of money. 1000 gold pieces. This is enough to start a kingdom. Where did an old man get this kind of money? And why is he spending it on a heart?

Leaving the hut, the other adventurers would enter, one after the other. Briefly being able to hear the conversations Dezo would learn that the other two are there after the bounty too.

As they both begin to walk off, Dezo yells softly, "Hey, you two, what do you know about the witch, if anything? We should work together." Dezo sticks out his hand to wave, not the hand marked. He does this to examine if they have the mark or not...

Eri was the second adventurer to enter the hut, after Dezo. She was curious about the human chief and the bounty he offered, but she also had a personal reason to seek out the Green Flame Witch. She had heard rumors that the witch possessed a rare artifact that could amplify one’s mana, and Eri hoped to use it to overcome her natural weakness. She was not afraid of the witch, for she had a secret weapon of her own: the power to imbue her weapons and objects with any kind of magic she wants, even unique magic. Eri listened to the chief’s words with interest, but also with suspicion. She wondered why he wanted the witch’s heart so badly, and where he got the money to pay for it. She also noticed the strange markings on his skin and felt a chill run down her spine.

She left the hut and saw Dezo waiting outside, along with another adventurer. She recognized them from the market, where they had caught her eye with their unusual appearance. She wondered if they were also after the witch, and what their motives were. She was about to walk away, when Dezo called out to them.

“Hey, you two, what do you know about the witch, if anything? We should work together.” Dezo stuck out his hand to wave, not the hand marked. He did this to examine if they had the mark or not…

Eri looked at Dezo’s hand and saw no mark on it. She wondered what he was hiding, and why he was so eager to team up with them. She was not fond of humans, especially after what they had done to her tribe. She also preferred to work alone, relying on her own skills and instincts. She was about to decline his offer, when she noticed something that made her change her mind. She felt a connection to Dezo, her beastfolk senses alerting her that he was the same. She refused to shake his hand and ran over to lift his other hand up, quickly, abruptly, leaving Dezo with not time to react. Revealing his mark. "A HAH!" Eri says. Raising up her mark as well.

"Yes, we should work together."

Not realizing the other adventurer seen the marks as well the two had revealed.

As Kaito walks through the town, he's subjected to no small amount of ridicule. Life before now had kept him secluded from the outside world completely, so he doesn't quite understand where all the animosity is coming from. Still, he has no quarrel with these humanoids so he keeps walking. Soon enough he arrives at the location along with two others. It seems everyone has been called together, and as the first two people enter the tent, Kaito can overhear some things. The out of context words and sentences have more clarity when he meets the old man. After the meeting, he leaves the tent to find the other two causing a ruckus. Well, the female at least. The twenty some years Kaito has been playing shogi has taught him many things, especially about the acquirement of information people would rather have hidden. She revealed everything about herself and the other guy with them, while his own mark remained concealed. Kaito couldn't help but laugh at the hilarity of the situation. "Team up, you say?" He thought about teasing them a little bit, but sees no reason for it. He withdraws his hand from his robes with the mark on it. "I don't mind at all. But I'm not making an informed decision before I understand all sides of the story. Preferably, we won't be attacked on sight when we reach wherever we're going." SleepyConley SleepyConley Zura Zura

Suddenly the woman, a beastfolk with a weird hammer raises up his wrist, the same woman he tried to shake hands with. Revealing the palm with the insignia. A flood of emotions engulfs Dezo, "no why did she do this, they're no prying eyes, right" he thinks to himself. Grring with anger at the girl, he notices another. The man laughs at the situation, suddenly the man too reveals his mark. So it is true, they're others like him. What does all of this mean? Balance? Like the god mentioned? Why does there need to be balance? The man agrees to team up. Dezo asks for his name to find out it is Kaito.

Dezo is relieved to see that Kaito has the same mark as him. He wonders what it means, and why they were chosen.. He decides to trust him, at least for now. He nods and says, “I agree. We need to know more about this witch and why she’s so important to Dernaldo (the chieftain). Maybe he knows something we don’t. Maybe he’s hiding something. Maybe he’s not even human.” He shudders at the thought of the creepy smile on the old man’s face. He looks at Kaito and says, “You seem to be good at reading people. What do you think of him? And what about the other one, the girl? She seems to be a bit…loud.” He lowers his voice, hoping she won’t hear him. He doesn’t want to make enemies, but he also doesn’t want to be dragged into trouble. He hopes Kaito will share his insights with him, and maybe they can work together to find out the truth behind this mysterious quest.

As for the girl, Dezo looks at her with malice and says, "Why did you do such a thing you doofus? Come on, if we're going to work together best we get some supplies and head out. It just so happened to work in your favor this time but don't be doing reckless stuff when we're in a group." Finishing scolding the girl, he also asks her for her name... hm Eri.

To the swamps we go, the journey should take at least a week, we should hire a carriage. Dezo, out of respect for the others, pays the toll.

Summoner.jpg Kat had to make a choice: to follow her heart or her duty, to fight for peace or for war, to reveal her true identity or to keep it hidden. Whatever she chose, she knew that she would face consequences and challenges. But she also knew that she had Ku’Kalgo by her side, and that she had the power to change the world. She was ready to face her destiny, and to write her own story.

She found a bounty about the witch and traveled to the Tribal Lands. Here she would encounter the village. The beastfolk within the village would gawk and stare, but their hospitability seemed none the wiser, as everyone was kind, surprisingly. Using a map handed out at the tribes welcoming hut, a hut most often ignore, and quickly found the chief of the village's hut. Here they would talk about what events were to transpire and that this odd looking old man wanted the witch's heart. For a handsome amount of money to beat. Agreeing on the bounty, the old man would reveal the last known area the witch was sighted in, an area of the swamplands to the south, The Swamplands of The Shore (I read the lore hehe). Exiting the tent she could see three adventurers coming her way... she decided to hide. One by one they would enter the tent. Were they like her? Marked with the crimson wings? Still hiding, behind a nearby barrel peaking her head over, she notices the three start to banter, Kat was curious.

The three would reveal their marks, incredible, she decides whether or not to reveal herself, but them being bearers of the mark left her no choice. She announces herself, "Katherine Eldfall at your service." Standing from behind the barrel lifting her wrist and palm up to reveal her insignia too.

The time is around 7 PM.

Now that our characters have been acquainted, they decided to travel together as a group, sharing stories and meals along the way. They learned more about each other’s backgrounds, personalities, and goals (as well as the information available on their character sheets). If there was something they didn’t wish to share, they simply said so and respected each other’s privacy.

They hired a carriage to take them across the Tribal Lands, a vast and wild region populated by various monster races. They hoped to find a guide who could lead them to their destination: the mysterious Swampland of The Shore, where the witch had last been spotted. After riding in the back of the carriage for nearly two and a half days, they came upon a sight that made them gasp. A tribal village was under siege by a horde of strange creatures. The village huts were on fire, and the air was filled with the smell of smoke and burning flesh. The villagers were screaming and running for their lives, while the creatures attacked them mercilessly. The creatures looked like the ones peopleing share stories about encountering in the dungeon in Dungeon City. They were humanoid in shape, but had wings, claws, horns, and tails. They had black scales and red glowing eyes. They didn’t seem sentient at all, but rather driven by a primal hunger and rage. They flew about the sky and swooped down with fiery breath and fireballs.

TownUnderAttack.jpgThe carriage driver slammed on the brakes and shouted, “This is as far as I go! I’m not risking my life for these savages! You’re on your own now!” He quickly turned the carriage around and sped away, leaving the group behind. The group looked at each other, unsure of what to do. They felt sorry for the villagers, but they also knew they were not welcome in the Tribal Lands. The monster races hated the civilized races. They had no reason to help them, and every reason to avoid them. But they also had a sense of honor and compassion. They need the monsters just as much right now. Our party needed guidance through the Tribal Lands. They couldn’t just stand by and watch innocent people suffer and die. They needed to find a way to help them, and maybe earn their trust and gratitude. They also needed to find out why these creatures were attacking the village, and if they had anything to do with the witch.

They quickly made up their minds. They grabbed their weapons and gear and ran towards the village. They hoped to find a way to enter without drawing too much attention, and to join forces with the villagers. They knew they were outnumbered and outmatched, but they also knew they had skills and abilities that the villagers lacked. They decided to swoop into action and try to turn the tide of the battle. Dezo awakens on the carriage to the driver making a ruckus, then suddenly the smell of smoke. Dezo leans up off the bench, just slightly, still half-awake to see that one of the villages we were supposed to be passing through on the road to the swampland is under siege. Dezo quickly snaps of out the spell he was under, no longer afflicted by sleep. The carriage stops with the driver kicking the party out of the carriage. "Great, here we go." Confident in his ability, Dezo begins his attack, with the others not far behind him.

Dezo unleashes a cloak, his hand turning to mist, the land beneath him and beyond turning to shadows. Quickly, the village is cloaked in a veil of darkness, even the fire itself. Extinguishing the flames, Dezo falls to his knees grasping his hand, the one with the mark. It is pulsing brightly, the red hue surrounding Dezo as he holds it in pain. "This is normal, it always happens when I overextend the power. I guess my body isn't used to it. The flames are put out, the rest is up to you."

Suddenly, a swarm of the beasts mark Dezo as their target. A strong foe has appeared, and the flock had their eyes set.

Earlier: Eri is surprised to see that the man named Kaito, who laughed a bit, has the mark as well, she feels incredibly embarrassed and her tail lowers as she is scolded by Dezo.

"Hey! I knew it! Don't scold me, ok! Wanna go at it, huh!?"

Suddenly a voice peers through the banter, "Katherine Eldfall at your service." Who raises her palm to also reveal the mark.

Eri was excited to meet another like them and runs over and grabs both of the woman's hands. "I assume you are here for the witch too?" Eri's tail flutters from left to right, slightly. Eri had no self of respect towards someone's personal space.

Together the four of them would travel on a carriage graciously paid for by Dezo, Eri is trying to save all the money she can. On the carriage, people can hear snoring coming from Eri's bag. Curiosity will probably get the better of them, asking her what the noise was. Eri will grin, wide, her sharp teething showing. "Hehe, a hammer with a soul. Let him rest."

Two and a half days would go by, suddenly, in the distance all that can be seen is smoke and fire. The carriage driver begins to act weary. Getting a bit closer before kicking the party out of the carriage in exchange for his own life. Understandable Eri thought. The party would make their way towards the village, slowly, sneaking trying to go unnoticed by the beasts, when suddenly Dezo charges ahead and unleashes his desire. He already told you about it, but seeing someone who can wield shadow magic the way he just did was a marvel to behold. All at once the flames in the village were extinguished. But Dezo falls to the ground holding his wrist. "Dammit Dezo!" Eri yells! Running over to check on him, Dezo exclaims he is okay and to venture forward without him. Eri rips open her back sack and pulls out her hammer. The hammer will speak, half asleep, "Huh? Eri? What's going on you buffoon?" The hammer will open its mouth and yawn, opening it eyes, and then closing them and then... OPENING THEM WIDE! "Eri! BATTLE TIME!"

Eri with agree, "Mhm, get ready!"

A whirlwind of fireballs with be fired at the party but Eri will leap into the air and use the power of her hammer to consume the magic like a dancing wolf with an ultimate shield. Consuming the onslaught of fireballs, the hammer will burp. As more and more fireballs come Eri will leap to eat it and protect the party. She'll look back at the two remaining party members, Kaito and Katherine, nodding them to go ahead, she has the defense down. "I'll protect Dezo, you two go on ahead!"

SleepyConley SleepyConley Darkbloom Darkbloom stupid stupid

Katherine, half asleep, leaning on the side of the carriage looking back at the scenery behind them as the carriage marches forth. Dezo was already asleep and Eri looked full of energy as always, Kaito was ______. Suddenly the carriage comes to a halt, unsure of what is going on, it will take Katherine a minute to map the situation. A village, a fire, minions of darkness in the sky. By the time she was finished assessing the situation, Dezo, Eri and Kaito had already gone ahead. The distant mumbles can be heard of a man yelling at Kat, "Go on I said elf, get out of the carriage quickly!" Katherine jumps over the side and leaps to follow the others.

"Ku'Kalgo, you ready?" Eri lifts her hand, the one with the insignia, it begins to pulse with a glow of red as a burst of summoning magic fills her hand. The wind begins to swirl and the magical orb shines bright, a portal opens from above Kat. A giant beast claws its way out of the portal. "Kalgo! Use my mana, take down those beasts in the sky."

The snake beast, cloaked in a veil of ghostly shadows flies into the sky launching a barrage of water magic. If these beasts can cast fire, it only made sense water might be a good counter. As Kat watches her summon dance in the sky, she looks forward. Dezo was on the ground and Eri was dancing in the air too, swallowing up the fireballs with her hammer, amazing. You notice it grow dark, the flames, they're gone.

Dezo, amazing.

While Kat's serpent is attacking the demonic looking beasts in the sky, holding them at bay, she runs over the check on Dezo, giving him a potion of mana. "Drink up, that must have been taxing on your body! I'm glad you're okay."

While Eri continues to dance alongside Kat's serpent, Kat and Dezo will both look at Kaito, their strategist, for directions.

"How rude..." he says as he rubs his sore backside from being kicked out of the carriage. However, there were people that needed saving. "Very well. We'll take care of the villagers." His tone and posture reflects the surety and decisiveness of a seasoned shogi player. As he moves to help the villagers, a shogi board materializes out of thin air and hovers by his side. He advances one of the pawns, and a massive pillar of earth shoots out from the ground to kill one of the flying creatures who was attacking a villager. "One down, several to go. I need to make the best moves in order to get to the point I have envisioned." He sees the two sets of eyes on him from his other traveling companions. "The first thing to do is protect the villagers. I suggest killing the creatures who are targeting them." The next piece he moves is his knight, which causes the wind currents to destabilize the flight of the creatures, who are now either having difficulty staying in the air or have fallen to the ground. Kaito moves the rook three spaces to the left which fire multiple water blades to cleave the creatures in half while they're struggling to stay in the sky. "Using opposing elements isn't such a bad idea. I think we can handle the rest of them just fine like this. If anything changes, like battlefields often do, I can respond appropriately with my enchanted shogi board." SleepyConley SleepyConley Zura Zura stupid stupid

Kaito will instruct Kat to protect the villagers, a good idea. They're valuable intel and we need them for a ride to the swamp. "Kalgo! Finish this up, use all of my mana!" Ku'Kalgo flies high into the sky, even ground with these demonic beasts. She'll look at Kaito, "Your magic is impressive! Wonderful! Here, together we'll end this. You ready?"

Katherine's mark will glow brightly similar to Dezo's. She'll grab her hand in pain as she falls to the ground, "Kalgo! Now!" She'll faintly utter out the words.

Her spectral will turn from a ghostly black color to a blue color, breaming with mana. From his stomach, light will shine throughout his skin, visible from the outside. The energy will travel down the serpent's body, towards its mouth, then it will release a beam of pure light magic. Ku'Kalgo with roar, "Exterminating Beam!" The sky will light up as if it was the middle of the day as the entire area above the village, where all of the demonic beasts are is covered in a shining light of pure light magic. The beasts will scream and screech in pain as most of them fall to the ground dying as their skin melts. Kat will say, "Light magic works on them! Just as I thought, they are demonic!"

She'll nod at Kaito, "After what I seen the rest is up to you..." before slipping into the darkness, passing out for expending all of her mana.

Darkbloom Darkbloom

Eri will continue to dance through the air, protecting Dezo when suddenly a massive serpent flies into the air casting water magic at the beasts. Finally some help Eri thought as she crushes the skull of one of the beasts, using her beastfolk racial buff to jump high into the sky, towards one of the lower flying ones, swinging her hammer, crushing it. Then a massive pillar of earth shoots out from the ground to kill one of the flying creatures who was attacking a villager. Then wind currents to destabilize the flight of the creatures. Then giant blade of water shoot out to cleave the creatures in half while they're struggling to stay in the sky.

Amazing, who is using such beautiful magic? She'll look back to see Kaito with a shogi board when suddenly Katherine falls to the ground and a blinding beam lights up the sky, killing most of the beasts who were having trouble staying in the sky. Eri will hold up her arm to cover her eyes.

Kaito raises his hand once more as if getting ready to attack again, perhaps?

She'll run over to Dezo now that the onslaught of attacks have calmed. The fires are out, the beasts are being slaughtered. She'll carry Dezo over to Katherine, laying them down beside each other. She'll look at Kaito, "Looks like its just us, what do you have up your sleave?"

Darkbloom Darkbloom SleepyConley SleepyConley stupid stupid

Dezo and Katherine are now out of the story until a long rest. Actions have consequences. Kaito and Eri will decide when we rest.

Kaito moves the silver general next to the rook, which enshrouds Eri in shadows. "Now you can kill the rest to your heart's content. I have the villagers well under my protection, and with this the creatures who are left won't see you coming." The combination move Kaito had in mind wasn't going to be necessary. The enemy is scattered, and now quite few in number from the previous attacks. He needn't use the silver general and the rook together in this fight. "If there are any creatures still in the air, I can launch you with pillars of earth in their direction. Having nine pawns is pretty good for attack or defense, even if it isn't area of effect." He moves one of the pawns forward and the gold general next which let loose a flurry of enhanced earth bullets, the precision of which is unmatched by anyone. "A few more have been felled from the sky so go crazy!" Kaito figures Eri prefers to attack mercilessly with her speaking hammer, which isn't a totally unfounded thought based on how she charged in at first when the party arrived. Zura Zura

Eri suddenly becomes enshrouded in shadow, smiling wide, her beastfolk teeth showing, sharp as can be. "Lift me up high Kaito!" Pillars of earth shoot up from beneath Eri as she is thrown, hurdling into the sky, as she makes her descent, she spins and twirls, leaping from beast to beast, grabbing them, landing on them, some she would break their necks. Others she would pulverize with her hammer. One by one, she would dwindle their numbers alongside Kaito unless no more were left.

Landing a heroic landing, Eri will take a sign of relief, wipe the sweat from her forehead and smile big at Kaito. "Hehe, what do ya think about that? I'm a pretty good warrior huh?"

Together with Kaito they'll tend to the wounded. Eri using her brute strength to pull those out from under the rubble while more beastfolk came to aid her.

Darkbloom Darkbloom

(For handling the situation so well so far as a party, I thought up a unique scenario since I have a better understanding of what our powers are truly capable of. Dezo and Katherine are still out of the fight, but will need protecting, along with the remaining villagers. Get ready, Kaito, Eri.)

Ogre.jpgSuddenly, after defeating the demonic beasts and tending to the wounded. A thick fog would roll into the village and surrounding area. A stench fills the area, rotten, filthy, nausea inducing. Out in a distant you see the shadow of a large beast being projected onto the fog. It grows closer, larger, you hear the rumbling of footsteps shaking the ground. Finally emerging from the fog, a demonic ogre, one that looks possessed enters the battlefield. Towering in size, an ogre, a rare and elusive beast. Just as big as Russell Trees. It's red eyes gaze at the village, pondering on what to do, as if it was more sentient that the beasts you fought prior. It will stand and begin tramling the village, looking through the rubble as if searching for something. Its power is mighty. Can Kaito and Eri withstand its wrath? Do they take down this titan for its resources or try to cleanse it of its mind control?

Zura Zura Darkbloom Darkbloom

Enshrouded in darkness both Katherine and Dezo awaken in the place they originally had their dreams in. "How do you feel about the powers bestowed upon you?" You used too much mana without letting your bodies adjust to your newfound powers. Let this be a lesson." You can feel your bodies pulsating as if being filled with mana. You try to wake up but feel the tug of the abyss pulling you under. Until a long rest, they will lie in the slumber of darkness. Perpetually trying to wake, but until their bodies have had time to rest won't be able to interact with the world.

Kaito clenches his fists and recalls his shogi board. "Damn! My position was reset. No matter, a shogi master such as myself is up for the challenge!" He moves one of the pawns, and a cone shaped piece of earth shoots out from the ground underneath the foot of the giant that's just about to step on the ground. The idea is to make him lose balance, but Kaito's moves now seem small in comparison to the flying creatures from before. However, small things can lead up to big things. Next, Kaito moves the bishop to shoot a cloud of flames into the giant's eyes to render it blind. "Eri, target the body joints with your hammer! That should limit his mobility. We can't let him get any farther along the path!" The other two party members were still conked out from using too much mana. He had considered moving five pawns at the same time to brute force the giant into falling backwards, but that would take up too much of his remaining magic. The shogi board is best used in small increments for larger attacks later on, when the position allows him to cast the bigger spells. Zura Zura SleepyConley SleepyConley

Eri listens to the advice of Kaito, watching him furiously attack the titan ogre in awe. She bounces and goes for a brute forced attack, imbuing her hammer with weight magic, making it heavier, a unique type of magic. She aims her sight at the ankle and foot left untouched, one had already been handled by Kaito. She unleashes her furry of attacks, smashing into the ankle, spinning in the air, a smile on her face and launching the final attack on the top of the foot, crushing the foot. The ogre, roars, stumbling backwards before falling. The ground shakes, almost as if an earthquake was happening. Buildings barely left standing begin to crumble by the vibrations of the ogre falling. It lets out another roar, shaking the earth once again. Eri covers her ears in distress, looking at Kaito. The giant struggles to open its eyes, shielding them with its arms. Its weak. You know the saying: the bigger they are, the harder they fall.

Darkbloom Darkbloom

Turning Point 1

StageTwo.jpgAs the titan falls, the weight of the fall causes the ogre to rupture several discs in its spine. The ogre coughs up a fountain of blood, letting loose a gargling roar, as if in pain. Still blinded and shielding its eyes, it begins to transform, its feet and ankle healing, all of its injuries heal. Must be an innate ability the beast has, healing. Darkness swirls around the beast, it stands, lifting itself off the ground, positioning itself with one knee on the ground and another helping himself lift up. The darkness engulfs the titan as if forming a cocoon. No, it is evolving. If only Katherine was awake, she might be able to break the curse and make a contract with the beast.

Arms sprout out from behind the monster. Growing in size, growing in ugliness. The stench growing stronger, the beast has went beyond saving, it has been too far corrupted. As orbs of darkness forms behind the monster, black mana. This is forbidden mana harvest from the living, that must mean this is a manufactured golem. There was no saving it from the start. Coming to this realization, you're glad you didn't waste your time trying to save it. The orbs glow as if getting ready to beam down rays of shadow magic. Tons and tons of dark orbs cover the sky, it is impossible to escape. The overwhelming force would be too much to shield, too much to swallow. This attack was beyond the current capabilities of our party, especially with two unconscious.

Suddenly, the beast is engulfed with green flames, not an utter from the beast, just pure ashes remain in an instant. As the green flames die down, the battlefield is eerily silent. The once menacing beast is now nothing but a pile of ashes, its reign of terror extinguished in an instant. The witch!? What is so valuable in this village that this onslaught would happen, as well the witch herself showing up? There is a silhouette of a woman standing behind the ash raining down from the sky. She pulls down her hood, her hand raised with a grin. Her hand scorched by the flame.

"Heard you sugars were looking for me?"

Kaito dematerializes his shogi board. The second boss would have been too much to deal with had the green flame witch not interfered. She was indeed stunning to look at, which makes him question why the chief wanted her heart so bad. He remains standing where he is, so he doesn't startle her with a sudden advance. No, that would be a blunder of the greatest proportions. "Yes, we are here to find you." Neither would telling her why they're here would be a good idea. He simply must... make a conversation to understand everything he can about the bounty. "I'm sorry, I've been ungrateful. Thank you for saving us as well as the townspeople. Please, tell us about the life you live here. We seek to be more understanding than most travelers who would come this way." SleepyConley SleepyConley Zura Zura stupid stupid

The Green Flame Witch eyes Kaito up and down. Kaito will feel a sensation of someone trying to enter into his mind. The witch will blush...

"Oh, you think I'm stunning? And yes, reluctantly the green flame is a curse that grants immense power and unique abilities, however eating my heart will, well, it is better left unsaid. I'm sure you can figure out the rest, you seem smart. I'm afraid I don't mean anyone harm, though you seem skeptical of that, after my demonstration of power I suppose I don't blame you. I've been hunted for my heart since the time I was born basically. I have a whole story, blah blah, let's us move onto more interesting matters."

The witch will vanish in a mist of green flames, appearing behind Kaito. "You see, I've been hunting that ogre down for the past week, finally caught up to it, but if it hadn't been for you, a lot more would have died, you have my gratitude." The witch blows into his ear, before vanishing and reappearing back in front of Kaito.

"What do you say we work together? That old man has been after my heart for the past 60 years. He isn't right in the head I tell you."

Exhausting her flame, she'll put her hands behind her back and lean in, "Well, what do you think?"

Earlier: suddenly after the beast coughs up blood, a sign of victory, a cold chill enters the air. Circling wind and a mist of darkness begins to swell around the ogre. A cocoon? Eri has heard about this, the power to evolve. Not much is known about it, or what triggers it. The beast explodes with energy, transforming into a nightmare. It has all sorts of arms protruding from it, and its face has shifted to one of extremely frightening and ugly. As the sky turns dark, covering the setting sun, an array of black orbs fills the sky. An attack, one Eri knew her hammer couldn't swallow, not all of them anyway. Suddenly the beast is cast into green flames devouring it whole in one swoop of green flames, turning the beast to ash without even a peep. The witch? Here? What is it about this village that brings so many tough opponents? Eri shimmers with excitement, finally, battles that prove deadly. A sensation and honor that most beastfolk seek out. Eri watches as the witch seems intrigued with Kaito, swirling around him. She can barely make out their conversation, but hears, "What do you say we work together?" Eri runs over to the witch. Grabbing her hands and raising up her palm. No mark. "Hmph" Eri exclaims, a sad sigh is let loose. The witch looks extremely surprised at Eri's actions.

Eri will pause, "WAIT! Dezo! Kat!" Before running off into the distance towards the entrance of the village where they lay unconscious.

Eri sets up a camp, collecting brush from bushes nearby the village. Laying both Dezo and Kat beside the fire. The air still cold from the chilling breeze of the monsters transformation.

(I guess I'm initiating a long rest?)

A long rest has been initiated. The witch will seem to be friendly enough for now, though we are entitled to form our own opinions. This is a crucial moment, a turning point, our decisions now are important. Betrayal, battle, or a new companion? Do we take her heart for our own? We'll finish up the scene with the witch and then Dezo and Kat can return.

It's not like he and his little group could take on the witch with abilities like she has. Not in the least bit. Though teaming up does sound like a good idea. She took out the giant with one skill. But still, Kaito can't make this decision by himself. He was going to check on the other two but Eri had raced to them first. "It sounds like a good offer, but it's not something I can decide by myself. I need to consult the team and we'll decide what the best possible course of action is from that. Our companions might take a little while to wake up so come join us and say more about what's been happening around here. We would also like to know more about the old chief. If you know anything about what the beastkin think about him being the chief, that would be even better to know." From that one fight, first with the flying creatures and then with the giant, Kaito will see if the others will listen to him about how they can improve the usage of their own unique powers acquired from the symbol on their hand.
