To be added over the course of the roleplay.

Age:

Twenty-two

Height:

163 cm

Weight:

49 kg

Secretary / Aspiring Artist

Reason for Moving:

Kumiko's father was revealed as being involved in a high-profile money laundering scandal. This drove their family into destitution and made them a pariah within their hometown. With such a severe change in their lifestyle and the lingering shame from his actions they downsized to a much smaller home in another location.

Secret:

Her works of art are closely guarded treasures to her. The exact nature of what she creates and its intended audience remain hidden from the rest of the group. This is particularly strange in that she is not afraid of boasting that she made something leaving the intentions behind her secrecy unclear.

Personality (Past):

As a young child Kumiko wasn't exactly the most pleasant of individuals. Coming from a wealthy family she always had the latest of toys, games, and fashion as she was constantly spoiled by her parents. Conceited and constantly yearning for material goods she viewed the concept of "friends" as people who just wanted to take enjoyment in things they didn't own. Ironically it was her habit of flaunting her belongings that helped her to fall into the group which she spent a majority of her childhood with. Over time she opened up toward them, the experiences she shared with her friends shaping her into a much more generous and caring person. Even with these changes though she still had a fire in her eyes and was more than willing to jump into conflict at the drop of hat, the tiny girl acting as a guardian to the meeker of her friends. Her arrogance slowly gave way to courage and she was more than willing to lead the charge in new adventures. She was living a much more positive life due to their influence but wasn't able to maintain that attitude entirely after her family's fall from grace.

Personality (Present):

Moving to a new town at age fourteen, Kumiko found herself stricken by an intense depression at the loss of everything she knew. Her trusted friends were gone. She no longer had wealth. Her belongings began to disappear due to a variety of reasons. Perhaps worst of all, they struggled just to have food while the world around her regularly spoke of her father in a negative light due to his immoral actions. Despite several attempts to adapt to her new life she found herself unsuccessful, hardening her resolve to claw her way back to a comfortable existence. Adapting a mentality that it was her against everyone in this new home she became distrusting, bitter, and cynical. Each evening she would remain in her room, valuing her privacy above all else. In her new world she found herself regularly withdrawing into her own fantasies, sketching as she longed to return to the way things once were. What remnants remain of her past self are now hidden behind a wall and she finds herself having difficulty to show it even among the rest of the old gang.

Bio:

Kumiko was born the single daughter to the Itou family, a wealthy and influential name known for her grandfather's establishment of Morioh Jewelers, a business specializing in the distribution and sale of various different products. Jewelry, high fashion, perfumes, and various other luxuries allowed them to quickly rise to global recognition as they traded across several nations. With the passing of the company's founder leadership was handed over to his son Daisuke, who used this as an opportunity to shower his wife and daughter in material goods and offer them a comfortable life. Not understanding the amount of work and luck that went into their success at such a young age Kumiko became spoiled, looking down upon those less fortunate than her. This attitude was slowly but surely changed starting in kindergarten as she came to know nine other children her age, initially having a hostile relationship with several of them.

By the beginning of high school she had come to love, admire, and even respect the others. Happily claiming them as her friends she built many memories with them and was finally able to act for something other than her own sake due to their influence. Unfortunately fate did not allow for this comradery to continue. Within only a few months of each departure they found themselves being pulled away away to new homes. Kumiko's reasoning in particular was devastating to her. After an investigation it was discovered that Daisuke Itou along with several other high ranking employees of Morioh Jewelers were involved in an elaborate and long-running money laundering scandal. With that all eyes were on Kumiko's family, targeting them as the subject of gossip and discussion as stories began to circulate. Rumors of extortion, murders, yakuza involvement, and various others nefarious other crimes began to spread throughout the city. Eventually it became too much for the company to carry, forcing the shareholders to fire Daisuke in an act to try and pin the blame entirely on him while protecting his co-conspirators.

This wouldn't have been a problem for them had they been frugal in their budget, but after an entire lifetime of enjoying the finer things they found themselves quickly burning through their reserves. Now low on both money and good will they relocated to a new home in an effort to escape their past, attempting to blend in with the common folk. This massive changed placed a great emotional stress on all of them, souring the relationships they had with one another as fights constantly broke out. Kumiko in particular was unable to deal with this well simply wanting to return to her friends. Instead she found herself in a run down neighborhood around people she hated, unable to avoid drama started by others and without any material comfort to fall back on. Over time she became bitter at the poor fortune brought about by her father's dishonesty and focused on her imagination. Taking up sketching she found she had a natural talent for art in various forms, relying on that as a way to escape the reality she didn't ask for. Upon graduating from high school she began working various odd jobs and focused on saving what meager earnings she could rather than pursue further education, hoping to strike it rich through her unique style. Now working as a secretary for a moderately sized brewery back in her hometown she continues to tolerate a job that she despises, patiently awaiting the day in which she and her friends promised they would meet once again.

Relationships:

Ren was a person who from Kumiko's viewpoint seemed to coast through life with ease. An airhead who was always seen with a smile it felt as if her successes and friendships simply fell into her lap by chance. This sparked an intense feeling of jealousy. While Kumiko constantly boasted of her wealth and superiority without others around to acknowledge this it meant very little to her. Because of this she often came on far too strong in social interaction and either scared or annoyed others into leaving. As time passed she began to view her as a rival in her own mind. Her victories were a standard to surpass and while she was not ever outwardly hostile to her she was more than willing to try and edge her way into a conversation to either diminish her spotlight or steal it completely. Unfortunately this was either entirely one-sided or Ren was extremely skillful in repressing her anger toward this behavior, leaving her questioning if she truly registered what she was attempting or believed it to be simply nothing more than two friends who were poking fun at one another.

Aya was someone who simply someone who existed in her space. Always kind and proper she found no reason to fight with her, and her innocence made it particularly difficult to impress her. Without much in common they hadn't interacted much and as such never really came to know much about one another. Kumiko developed a bad habit of regularly forgetting her name for brief periods of time. As they grew older they began to speak more regularly and grew closer but this didn't amount to much before the group disbanded and everyone went their separate ways.

Umeko is a person who Kumiko enjoyed keeping a certain level of distance from. This isn't to say that she didn't like her. Quite the opposite. Her sunny disposition and outgoing nature made her one of the more pleasant people to be around in a group. The issue lies in the fact that she was eager to push Kumiko toward physical exercise when alone with her, hoping to strengthen her and bring out the best of her potential. Even with several attempts to refuse Umeko had a habit of cutting past her excuses with little effort, causing her to reluctantly agree. Being one of the weaker members of the group and one that had no personal interest in being fit she began to try to avoid her when possible so she wouldn't be urged into running laps. When she learned of her father's illness she struggled to say something to comfort her even slightly. Anything at all. Yet she found herself at a loss for words for once in her life, and before she could find the resolve to attempt to encourage her in those difficult times she had stopped going to class and moved shortly after. It wasn't too difficult for Kumiko to piece together what had happened. She now regrets running from her efforts to help strengthen her and her inability to return the favor.

Seto was the main catalyst in Kumiko's change in personality and values after meeting the group. Being a regular target of Noburo's comments she always jumped to his aid to defend him. As a result of his lazy behavior it appeared as if he was completely indifferent to Noburo's snide remarks and that Kumiko was simply making a larger scene by involving herself. In spite of this constant escalation the two became good friends. With her family's reputation in ruins after her father's scandal Seto was the first one to come out of his shell and defend her name and continued doing so ever after she left Chigasaki. At the time of Kumiko's departure he was the main reason she was reluctant to abandon her old life, the majority of her other friends now having moved due to their own circumstances.

Noburo was someone who she initially considered her mortal enemy and just a general pest. As she bragged and attempted to show off he was always the very first one to call her out and in return she always shot down his attempts to make comments and jokes at the expense of another. Their relationship was easily the most volatile of the group taking almost nothing for them to begin shouting at one another. Yet throughout their many arguments they came to reach a level of respect for one another. Kumiko began to view their confrontations as more of a game than anything else, going out of her way to antagonize him into one of their showdowns for her own entertainment. Any person who was concerned enough to attempt to break up their fights unfortunately became the target for both of their combined annoyance, eventually scaring off the others within the school from even acknowledging them while they were in this state. In spite of the common perception that they despised one another Kumiko actually thought quite highly of Noburo and was first in line to jump to his aid in a time of crisis.
