Background:
The Kaliva clan is one of the most powerful in Lucrete, even producing a rare few Dragon-Blooded among their ranks. Callas was not one of those, but he was a young but talented rising star in the family, part-bureaucrat, part-courtly operator. And then he was stricken in the middle of a symposium. After being withdrawn to a private location arose, the vision of the Unconquered Sun in his mind and golden fire from his eyes.
He understood that, quite more than being labeled Anathema, his transcendence threatened the pretensions of the Terrestrials to divinity. Of course, the Kaliva have a tradition of family loyalty, and what was more, politics - and the potential of their relative, trumped religion with the possibilities he might bring.
Callas knows he still has his clan's secure backing, including access to their web of contacts in the Lucretian upper classes (who may still look past the title of Anathema for any number of reasons) and the proper means to obtain currents of money.
The Circle he has found first appeared as much a means to the greater possibilities as companions, but Callas feels genuinely bonded to his fellow Solars by now.
