Kain Booker
T H E B A S I C S
Name: Kain Booker
Nickname: None
Age: 43
Height: 6'7''
Weight: 261lbs
Date of Birth: 15th March
Place of Birth: England
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Heterosexual
Appearance: Kain is a tall man of average build. Toned biceps and obvious collar bones gives him a look as if he regularly works out, but if you were to intercept one of his punches you'd know it's so much more than that. Flowing all the way down to his waist, his hair hangs freely at any given moment, yet still somehow manages to look as if he brushed it only moments earlier (Mostly because he actually has). His eyes are a very clear blueish gray, and his skin is completely white, barely even showing veins underneath it. No blemishes, scars nor freckles break the completely pale pattern, and he refuses to get tattoos.
He usually dons white or black apparel, being somewhat keen on keeping his style strictly matching with his body. Black boots, black jeans, a white t-shirt and long black trench coat makes him one of the most monochrome characters in Tokyo, and that's before taking his unnaturally white body into account. He's got 2 simple silver stud earrings in his left ear for personal reasons, and that's the only thing he allows himself to wear aside from regular clothing.
What truly makes his character however, must be the air of arrogance he carries with him everywhere. The slight bend at the end of his mouth, the sharp eyes looking down at you, the straight posture. Despite his age, he attracts glances from women and men alike no matter where he goes. He's just so incredibly... notable.
W H O A M I ?
Personality: Confidence flows through his entire being and is shown in every movement he makes. If it's elegantly dodging a splash of rainwater while moving along on the sidewalk or catching a glass the waitress dropped, his body coordination and maneuverability astounds most of those witnessing it. He seems to be aware of it too, and isn't afraid to bask in the envious and impressed eyes of the onlookers. This has made mystery his close companion. He may come into any place, do something fantastic, and disappear as suddenly as he appeared.
Even though he gets plenty of attention from the female gender, he rejects any approaches politely. His past has left him with a lacking interest for intimate pleasures, but also an inability to treat pretty, kind women with disrespect. He would rather die than let his own demons cause other suffering. Because of this, he's usually also very nice to children. He's gone out of his way to protect kids from harm, and sometimes even hunts down ghouls who hurt them. Justice is a very strict policy to him, and something as innocent as a child doesn't deserve to have anything vile done to it. Not negotiable.
So at the core, Kain is a kind-hearted man who despises violence, but... Violence has had a tendency to follow him. As if by flipping a switch, Kain can turn into a cold, unforgiving husk of a man. Devoid of any emotions and fierce as a hurricane, it's what made him so infamous in the first place. He does not let himself get trampled on by others, and he has the physical prowess to back his attitude up in any situation. To make such a person swear on his life that he will have his vengeance is a big feat, but it has happened. Kain is consumed by hatred. He's only waiting for a moment to aim it at something.
History:
The teenage years of Kain Booker is not something many know about, he's been very careful to bury that part of his past in a deep grave. Truth be told, it was a very turbulent time. He never knew his human mother nor his ghoul father since they'd both left him in the care of their clan when he was only 3 years old. A clan that wasn't suitable for children at all. Tengoku no Supaia was a clan of incredibly aggressive ghouls that was at large at the start of the 1970s, accompanied by spine-chilling stories of what they'd do to anyone they could put their proverbial talons on. Their main target was always the CCG, and at the time many investigators were afraid to even leave the confines of their home or the HQ out of fear that they'd be targeted and murdered.
Ever since Kain was a young kid he carried a burning anger in his heart. At his parents, at his surroundings, at everything. He was prone to throwing violent fits, and often cried loudly about his parents having brought him from his home country to Japan only to abandon him. The only person who could ever get him to behave was his grandfather, the man in whose care he'd been placed. He could never explain to Kain why his parents had left him, but he always told him that he shouldn't hate them as much as he did. A lesson Kain didn't learn until much later.
Fast forward 6 years from his arrival in Japan, on his 9th summer. Tengoku no Supaia's reign of terror had been a short-lived farse, what with the CCG mobilizing the majority of their most powerful investigators and raiding their HQ. Those who weren't killed scattered for the wind never to see each other again, and Kain's grandfather had gotten away by only posing as a captive elderly man who did everything he could to protect his grandson. He lied about his parents having been eaten by the ghouls, and if by some magical luck his silver tongue managed to save them from certain death.
Kain was kept isolated from society in a small old apartment, and his grandfather only ever left home once every two months to ensure that they were both kept alive. Every time before he left he'd tell Kain to stay quiet and not leave the apartment no matter what happened. If he did he was in mortal danger, and his grandfather said that no matter how much he wish he could, he'd never be able to save Kain from the horrible things that roamed out there in the city. But one day when he went out hunting as a consequence of Kain complaining that he was immeasurably hungry, he didn't return. Kain waited for hours, but time quicky lost it's shape under the pressure of his hunger. First came the shakes, then came the whispers, and finally he fell unconscious.
When he awoke his grandfather still wasn't home. He didn't know what day it was, what time it was, or even how long he'd been asleep. He only knew that if he didn't eat anything soon he would without a doubt die. He started tearing through the apartment, looking for anything edible. A strand of hair, a piece of finger nail, anything. At this point he'd lick saliva off the pavement just to get something in his belly. When he finally made it into his grandfathers room he was exhausted. He let his body fall down on his bed, and just laid there staring up at the ceiling until the pains in his stomach forced him into foster position. When they finally let him out of their agonizing grip once more, he noticed a journal on his grandfather's nightstand. Curiosity took a hold of him, and he opened the latest page.
I think the CCG agents have finally gotten a trail on where I'm hiding. I would relocate, join up with the remnants of the Tengoku, if it only wasn't for Kain. The boy is too young to be out there, and I don't know if the other ghouls will be jealous of his gifts. I can't protect him from everything, but I need to keep him behind lock and key until he's grown old enough. Asaki has become the new leader of Tengoku, and he contacted me during the last hunt, told me that they had given up on facing the CCG. Their new safehouse is down in the 6th ward, not too far from here, on the corner by that little bookstore. If things go south and the Investigators end up breaking our door down, that's our best bet. I just wish it doesn't come to that.
The cogs in Kain's head turned frantically, and tears started running down his cheeks when he realized what probably happened. The CCG had gotten his grandfather. He was alone again.
Terrified of losing more energy, Kain quickly brushed the tears away and licked them off his hand. If he wanted to live through this he needed to act. He carefully moved towards the front door of the apartment and put his hand on the lock. Silently he opened it and peeked outside. The staircase was quiet and empty, and he swiftly threw himself down them. His short legs worked fast to get him to the ground floor, and as he opened the exit door he was blinded.
This was the first time in nearly a year he'd seen sunlight, but the area was oh so familiar to him. He knew exactly where he was supposed to go. The 6th ward was his home, and he'd visited the bookstore plenty of times in his earlier years. His grandfather used to read to him there all the time. He started moving, first at a slow pace, but as the hunger set in again his feet worked faster and faster. He was running quick, as quickly as he could, down the streets of Tokyo. Pedestrians stopped to look at the young boy who ran as if the devil himself was chasing him, but he didn't stop until he was at the door of the warehouse.
The remnant of Tengoku no Supaia was very different from their aggressive predecessors, but their morality regarding Ghouls' superiority to humans was obvious. Under the protection of Asaki, an old friend of his grandfather, he was taken into their ranks, but if it hadn't been for him he would've been dead within the week. It came as a shock to Kain to learn that being a one-eyed ghoul was very unnatural, and that he was insanely lucky to be someone like that. Still, even Asaki couldn't protect him from being frozen out by the community. Only the darkest figures in the clan talked to him. Only they saw value in him.
At least that's what he thought. They knew they could use him, so for several years of his childhood Kain was tricked into doing horrible things. He was hardly even aware of how horrible they were, this was the only life he knew. He didn't know that slaughtering innocents wasn't natural. He didn't realize that humans were capable of emotion. He simply didn't understand any of it. That is, until he met Izumi.
By the time he was 21 Kain was already an SS ranked ghoul under the Alias of "The One-Eyed Angel". No matter how much he handicapped himself, everyone just seemed to die no matter how easy he went on them. His peers always congratulated him on his fighting prowess, and his ego was being inflated way beyond what was healthy. He believed himself to be the center of the world. He could do whatever he wanted with it, and nobody had the right to oppose him. Nobody ever had the balls to, anyway.
That's why it was such a surprise when a scrawny girl dared to. On a whim, Kain had entered the old bookstore just to look around. When the memories of his grandfather returned to him he'd gotten angry and lashed out at an innocent bookcase, from which two rows of biology books landed over the floor. "You can't do that!" She told him angrily, hands on her hips with an authoritarian look in her eyes. Kain just stared at her as she told him to pick it back up, and remained as passive as she sighed and bent down to pick up the latest edition of "Anthills, fact or fiction?". Somehow, he got a feeling of guilt at her disgruntled, but cute, facial expression. Hesitantly, he leaned down to help her pick the books up.
After that he visited the bookstore more frequently. He learned that her name was Izumi, that she was orphaned after a housefire when she was five, and that she'd grown up in the area since then. Apparently she'd lived in a broken home with abusive adoptive parents, and she'd finally been able to move out when she turned 16. She got to live together with her ex in his apartment. Supposedly he had been a really nice guy, they had even planned to get married, but when he accidentally got her knocked up he disappeared without a trace. Now she had to take care of her newborn daughter alone, but she also had three different part time jobs to make sure that she had the best upbringing she could ever have.
Something changed in Kain then. He stopped showing up at the HQ, he got his hair cut short and got a pair of piercings in his left hear to match Izumi's piercings. Instead, he slept over at Izumi's place, took care of her little daughter Askia, and even got a job at a local restaurant to help provide for them. The last he heard of Tengoku was that the warehouse had been raided by the CCG and that they all died.
Those years between 20 and 27 were the best of his life. Him and Izumi got married, but he never told her about his nature. He only ate the meat of deceased humans and ghouls, but faked participating in every family dinner like a good father for those years. He could never let any of them know he was a ghoul, that he was a murderer. He faked going to the doctor's office to find out that he was impotent. He told them that he was just lucky that he didn't hurt himself when he was hit by a car that one time. But they were happy. They were always happy.
All good things end. 28 years old with a solid career, a loving wife and a beautiful little daughter, Kain might've been tired of it all, but he was completely content. That's when his past caught up with him. One day they were just there. His door was kicked down by 15 men in SWAT-like gear and bullets rained through the room. The two most important people in his life were erased within seconds. As Izumi was lying in his arms with her life draining from the countless holes in her gut, a man in a white suit walked into the room. He raised a rapier and pointed it straight at Kain while saying:
"Time to face the consequences, SS rank ghoul Kain Booker."
He would never forget the look on his wife's face before she died. The sadness, shock, but most of all... the disappointment.
"It wasn't them. They never did anything to hurt anyone."
Bullets chased him as he escaped out a window, running down the alleyways until he reached a sewer grate. It only took him a few seconds to make his decision. He disappeared into the sewers never to be seen again. Rumor had it he went into the 24th ward to join the chaos of the ghouls that roamed there, but it's presumed he met his end somewhere in the darkness.
Although, around lately there have been some strange rumors about a ghoul with large bone-like wings killing CCG agents. Maybe he's back. Maybe he's out for vengeance.
Ghoul Investigators beware.
Goals/Aspirations:
Get his vengeance. The CCG took something from him that they could never give back. They deserve to be eradicated, each and every one of them.
Fears:
He keeps telling himself he's afraid of nothing, but deep inside he's afraid that when he finally attacks the CCG he'll only realize that they're just as real as he is. With their own families and their own emotions.

Kagune:
Kain's ukaku is a pair of red, angel-like wings that look like they've had every feather torn from them. They are created out of incredibly dense RC cells and are harder than all but the most powerful Koukakus when they're crystallized. They are both able to send out barrages of RC shards and to fire spear-like chunks that can penetrate nearly anything. After so many years of learning to control it he's understood how to twist it's shape and change it's size with his will, but instead of adapting them to every situation he could face Kain chose instead to perfect the design of his kagune. After much cannibalizing within the 24th ward he even developed a large set of kakuhous. He went from separating his wings to two separate kakuhous to strengthen each of them, to being able to summon three different sets of wings.
The cannibalization of his own kin down in the 24th ward slowly granted him the power of the Kakuja as well. It took him many years to fully manifest it's power without going insane, but he barely even remembers what happened during his evolution phase. The kakuja tightly envelops his body, giving him a very agile suit of dense RC cell armor over his every limb. Two long blades adorn his arms, each sharp enough to slice through metal without an issue, and his wings are also covered in a thick layer of rock-solid plating. Instead of actually looking like wings, the six appendages on his back function a lot more like large blades, or maybe stingers, while his kakuja is active; but he can still use them for long range ballistic barrages.
Rating: SSS
CCG Codename:
Since Kain has been identified, his old alias "The One-Eyed Angel" was discarded. Since then he's only been known as Kain, but since he's made his return to the above-ground Tokyo there have been rumors about "The Avenging Seraphim" ravaging the streets at night.
Faction: None
Fighting Style:
Fast, ferocious and merciless. When only using his kagune Kain likes to keep his distance and grind whoever dares face him into fine dust with his unrelenting barrages. When his Kakuja activates this changes drastically, and he uses his superior speed to move the distance up to his target, then turns them into kebab with a whirlwind of cuts from his various sharp blades.
Strengths:
Kain may very well be one of the fast ghouls to have ever lived, if not the fastest. His reflexes are impeccable, and he's shown the capability to even dodge bullets by bare centimeters without even appearing fazed by the feat. His body coordination couldn't be better than it already is, and he has completely and utter control over every aspect of his physique. His strength couldn't be increased further, and he has learned to effectivize it by utilizing a mixture of martial arts that he practiced into perfection throughout the years of constant fighting. When utilizing his kakuja, he also has the defensive capabilities to make anything but the most powerful quinque simply bounce off of him.
Weaknesses:
Though Kain has worked to remove all of his weaknesses, there are still some that could be used against him. His endurance has been trained to match that of almost anyone else, but it's less of being able to work forever, more of effectivizing his every movement so that he uses as little energy as possible. If his movement was somehow impaired so he had to use more energy with every actions he took, he'd soon be exhausted. His kakuja, though insanely tough, is not indestructible. If his body was to be stopped and then concentrated upon with weaponry it would eventually crack. He also doesn't have the same regeneration as some at his level display. It's as good as any SS ranked ghoul's regeneration, but due to the extremely concentrated shape of his RC cells any damage he sustains will stay there for a while.
In the end, his downfall is his light weight in comparison to other ghouls at his level. In one on one combat he's very nearly unbeatable, but by a multitude of opponents he could be outmaneuvred and beaten a lot easier than other SSS ranks.
Eating Habits: Modest, doesn't care whether he eats ghoul or human.
Mask: Kain does not use a mask since the CCG already knows his face. Only his kakuja covers his face.
Scent:Blood Soup
"They didn't do anything."
