This thread is going to tell you all about Hamon.
Hamon is an important part of the JJBA series. It is arguably the first truly "bizarre" part of the series, appearing in Part 1: Phantom Blood. Araki decided to take a different approach starting in part 3, where he introduced Stands. However, Joseph Joestar is shown to have Hamon ability even though his interests in the art had waned at some point, preventing him from retaining youth and health. The Zeppeli bloodline presumably still exists, but no futher characters with that lineage have appeared in canon. The Joestar and Zeppeli Hamon knowledge appears to have not been passed on to a successor. Through the 19th and 20th centuries, the Zeppeli School and those bloodlines were the only ones directly connected to the Foundation, and therefore the primary hamon users supported were related or connected to Joseph Joestar. It was founder Robert E. O. Speedwagon's wish to support his lifelong friend in the preservation of Hamon because he did not have the ability to use it.
In 209X, the Speedwagon Foundation has concerns that the Hamon art will die out if it is not properly preserved. While there are no known Prime Threats, such as Pillarmen, or Vampire legions currently active, Hamon is essential for defending the human race from Horrors. Presumably, there are other hamon schools. The Speedwagon Foundation hopes that there are even more small groups, say one master, one or two students, or Hamon practitioners who are self-studied, which is why their field agents and media allies are aggressively looking for more Hamon users.
Their efforts have begun to pay off with the discovery of a Hamon school specializing in conceptualizing the fusion of light and harmonics. The School's temples are very small and spread out, but incredibly well defended and maintained.
The School of Seven Bells is a Hamon dojo/temple that operates in North and South America. Their monastic practices allow for the ability to master a 7-color Hamon ability known as Hybrid Rainbow. However, the current head of the dojo, a noted recluse and a creator of Hybrid Rainbow's Overdrive technique, has not yet chosen a successor for all of their knowledge. You can tell the status of a member of the School of Seven Bells by how many small bells are tied to their person, which correspond to the number of hamon colors they can control. These bells must be worn during all waking hours - to remove them brings dishonor to the school. All novices of the School of Seven Bells begin with one color of light that is closest to the color of their soul's aura. Once they achieve a second color light, novices have the ability to be promoted to journeyman or Intermediate hamon practitioners. Journeymen from the School of Seven Bells are the most commonly encountered outside of the temples because they are offered a "pilgrimage" to sites to seek or make harmony in the wider world. It is only after the journeyman returns from the pilgrimage that they can be tested and promoted once again. Advanced members of the School of Seven Bells tend to hold 4-6 bells/colors and are more likely to teach novices or help their local communities than interact in world politics or similar business. Achieving Mastery of Hybrid Rainbow is particularly difficult due to the requirement of being able to release all 7 colors of light energy at once.
