Based off of: Jim Hawkins (Treasure Planet)
Height: 4'7
Weight: 115 lbs
Hair: Brown
Eyes: Warm honey brown
Body Figure: A bit scrawny, though mostly just slender in frame. He is fairly well fit, lithe, and otherwise average enough in figure and stature.
Clothing Style: Due to he and his mother's rather modest lifestyle and his own personal tastes, Jim never wears anything overly fancy or expensive, and rather dresses simply and just enough to get by on. There is one particular piece of clothing that he wears constantly however, and barely ever takes off. He wears an old patched coat that is a very dark brown, nearly black color, and is very worn from years of use. It is much too big for him and greatly outsizes him when he huddles in it, but it is a coat that used to belong to his father before the other one ran out on him and his mother. Beneath the coat, and the rare times that he takes it off, he usually wears very light clothing, such as light blue, light brownish tan, and pale yellow T-shirts, and jeans and shorts.
Distinguishing Feature(s): Jim has a light, half circle shaped scar underneath one eye, and also has a little rattail tightly braided at the back of his head. He has an earring on his left ear that is golden in color, and a small tattoo of a sailing ship flying among a constellation of stars on his right arm, partly to honor his middle name. He is also rather noticeably short in height compared to most his age, as much as he tries to hide this particular aspect.
Vice(s): Recklessness, stubbornness, rebelliousness, impetuosity, disrespectfulness, sarcasm, selfishness, low self-esteem, restlessness, loneliness, aloofness, forlornness, discontentment, moodiness, insecurity

Quirk(s): Whenever Jim is upset about something or quite intensely brooding, he'll glare downwards somewhere towards the ground and absentmindedly kick at small pebbles or whatever else might be laying on the floor at the time. Whenever he's feeling especially annoyed, bored, or sarcastically incredulous about something, he'll blow puffs of air at any bangs that might be hanging in front of his eyes at the moment.
Habit(s): When Jim is being talked to or confronted by an authority figure or anyone in power about himself or his actions, he'll tend to sink deep inside his oversized coat and nearly huddle inside it like a turtle withdrawing halfway into its shell, his shoulders slumped, and his head hanging with a dull, hopeless look in his eyes as he waits for whatever words that are to be said to be over with already. He always has slumped body posture, never really holding his head that high, and usually he completely avoids eye contact with anybody else whenever feeling especially ashamed of himself or broody and contemplative. He is almost always smiling and maybe even whooping with excitement when he's out skateboarding energetic and risky maneuvers however, or while playing pranks meant to directly spite authority in one way or another. His eyes always shine in silent but sincere gratitude and even hope whenever given a positive compliment or praise of any kind.
History:
James Hawkins was born to Sarah and Leroy Hawkins, in a fairly decent sized town that was both out in a rather rural area, but was still somewhat industrialized. The family lived in an old, fairly well kept house that been in the family for generations. Jim's mother was a laundress, while his father was formerly a military pilot for a brief time, and then later became a commercial airline pilot, and so unfortunately was often away from home because of his work. The family lived a rather modest life, but the first years of the blossoming little family were relatively happy ones. Jim's toddler years were filled with happiness, since he was given all the love and attention that his mother could give him, and for a while that was all he needed.
Jim loved listening to storybooks his mother would read to him and any of the children's movies she would let him watch, especially loving anything that was about adventure and action as he grew older. He was quite interested in stories about sailors and pirates of old at first, and then by the time he was five he began to love anything related to outer space and planes, or just about anything to do with flying. He and his mother had a very tender and loving relationship during this time, one that flourished during the boy's younger years. He would at times make mistakes and do wrong things, even sneaking behind his mother's back to disobey her at times, but he always knew that what he did was wrong when reprimanded, and worked to fix any of his mistakes and improve his behavior the best he could most of the time.
Jim had a tender heart, and often would pick up any stray animal that he had found in the street that didn't look like they had an owner and took them home to take care of and keep. His mother usually wouldn't let him keep any of these pets, but they always made sure that each animal either found their owner or a good place at the animal shelter. There was one bedraggled little puppy that managed to escape the animal shelter after the boy had found it trapped in a dumpster however, coming back to them panting and immediately jumping up to give him little doggy kisses. Jim was delighted, and so Sarah decided to let him keep the tiny dog, who the six year old decided to name Murphy. During his childhood Jim also had quite the fanciful and active imagination, often running around their home shooting at aliens and making up other games for himself to play, and often trying to make little model airplanes and spaceships as well, doing this mainly to impress his father.
While Jim's mother always paid attention to him and did her best to raise him, his father unfortunately did not give him that same attention. As the years passed and their son grew, Leroy spent more and more time away from his family, perhaps not always just because of his job. He and Sarah had married in passionate love, but over time that passion faded. They had had Jim much earlier than was expected and planned, and so soon the father found that he had not been ready to put down roots by starting a family already, and taking on the enormous responsibility of raising a son. Jim did his best to gain his father's attention and love when he was young, partly by building his model machines and even planes and rockets that he tried to get to actually fly, and sometimes even made it a little way towards that goal.
Despite doing all of this to impress and earn the approval of his father, he could never quite seem to earn the things that he craved and treasured so badly, no matter what he did. His father did sometimes did bring him some gifts, such as an old, rather battered skateboard when he was six, but otherwise he was barely ever at home anymore, even missing most of his son's birthdays. The rare times Jim's father did come home, he always seemed distant and distracted, as if he really wanted to be somewhere else, and just didn't know how to even interact with his family anymore. Most times when he was home he might say a few brief words to Sarah, but otherwise would spend a lot of that time sitting on their porch, playing forlorn old fiddling tunes on a fiddle that had been in the family for many generations while his mind was remained in another place, instead of spending any of that time with his family, or his son.
As Jim grew up without his father's presence in his life, he became more forlorn and more hurt by the absence of that important influence and guidance, slowly growing more distant from his mother and his peers at school, and becoming more determined to do something to gain his father's love. It was during this time, at the age of eight, that he began to try to get into sports, eventually settling into doing track and swimming in particular. Both activities were rather difficult and strenuous for him, but he kept persisting with it and trying to do his best. It was also during this time that he made his own skateboard, which was customized and quite impressively made for one his age, beginning to use skateboarding as an outlet for many of his built up emotions. He began to build up a little more of a temper as well, having a few incidents of losing his temper and getting into fights with his classmates, and even talking back to his teachers.
Eventually everything ended up coming to a climax for the conflicted young boy, during one day, when he was nine years old. That morning he was suddenly awoken in his bed with a start by the sound of a car's engine thrumming to life outside, and his mother sobbing downstairs. Jim rushed downstairs in a panic, his heart stopping as he saw his mother crying at their kitchen table, and then as he dashed to a window, his father's car beginning to pull out of the driveway. The boy tried to run outside and wave down the car before it left, even running out after it a little ways into the street as it sped away. The vehicle was impassive to his cries, and after it sped away Leroy Hawkins disappeared, never to be seen by his wife and child again.
After that day, things took a turn for the worst for the stricken, betrayed young boy. At first he believed that his father might change his mind and eventually come back to them, and refused to believe otherwise. Things were very tenuous for the boy and his mother during this time. Jim was seething with grief and confusion, not knowing who or what to take out all of his anger and pain on. Most of these feelings ended up being taken out on himself. He blamed himself for driving his father away and never being enough to make the other one stay, beginning to become guilty and self deprecating of himself, which ended up only making his bitterness worse. In some small way, Jim blamed his mother as well for his father's departure, which only alienated him from her further, and increased the distance between them.
While Sarah was still grieving the loss of her husband as well however, she knew that she had to pick herself up from it and move on, for the sake of both herself and her son. As one way to make ends meet, she decided to turn their home into a Bed and Breakfast. It was an ideal place for one, being that it was such a quaint, charming little house, which had a lot of history behind it. So, it wasn't long before the bed and breakfast was complete. Mrs. Hawkins ran the place, along with working another job on the side, with Jim having to help her with many of the chores that came with the job.
All this time, the ten year old boy had increasingly become despondent to everyone around him. He went about his chores and school with disinterest, keeping the dying hope inside that his father would return someday and take him away with him. He pursued skateboarding more than he ever had, often riding out of town and always searching for good skating spots to practice at, showing no more enthusiasm or effort for sports at school anymore. A lot of the time after school he would just go and sit at his house's window seat instead of taking time to play with his puppy like he used to, huddled in his father's old coat that was much too big for him, and blankly staring out the window down towards the cars driving down the street below for hours.
Eventually, as Jim grew into his preteen years, that dying ember of hope was eventually smoldered. He festered with the pain and bitterness of being betrayed and abandoned by his father, and began to rely only on his own self for knowing what to do and only choosing to do only what he wanted. Unfortunately, this path proved to be quite a destructive one. Jim completely closed himself off from everyone else, not afraid to voice his thoughts and snap at anyone who tried to confront him. He became flippant and disrespectful to his teachers, and again he often got into arguments or fights with his peers when he wasn't completely ignoring them. He wasn't exactly a target for bullying, but it did happen sometimes, and he wasn't very well liked either.
He was extremely smart and quite clever when it came to building and creating things, having great potential when it came to technology and science, fixing and creating things, and just about anything that he out his mind into, but ever since his father left he never tried that hard with schoolwork anymore, and began to get terrible grades. It was obvious that he was descending into a downward spiral, without even caring enough to try to pull himself out. But unfortunately everything came to the tipping point one evening, when Jim was skateboarding and looking around town for a good place to skate to blow off some steam after getting in trouble at school, and came upon a construction site that had been abandoned for the day. It was declared off limits, and trespassing was not allowed. It would be an ideal place for skateboarding however, what with the numerous areas of poured and hardened concrete, and many places where risky skateboarding maneuvers could be performed.
And so, after a brief moment of hesitation, and with a breathless whoop of excitement, the boy began to skate through the area under the light of a sinking sun. He relished the feeling of freedom and control that came from openly rebelling. He greatly enjoyed himself during this time, not even thinking of the consequences that could come from it. He skateboarded without any restraint, doing many dangerous and impressive maneuvers on the constructed areas and equipment, not caring one bit about the risks. He ended up skating through the entire night, before eventually stopping and gleefully running home at dawn. Jim had unintentionally ended up doing a bit of damage to the area with his skateboarding, having knocked some things out of place, and making little wheel shaped imprints in other places. After this stunt, it wasn't long before Jim was pointed out as responsible for the damage due to someone having seen him skateboarding there, and was taken aside one day at school to be reprimanded and punished.
This was the twelve year old's first run in with the law, since he had caused property damage and had been intentionally trespassing. At this point, even though he was given strict warnings and punishment for what he had done, he did not regret it. He liked having the kind of freedom he had felt that night, and the power to rebel against the system and the rules. He didn't care anymore whether or not he was a good or responsible person, or what anyone thought of him. Even if he never would really be free the way he wanted so badly to be, at least the illusion of the feeling was a comforting one. In a way he felt as if these actions were to spite his father, who obviously hadn't cared how he would turn out no matter what he had done, so he wouldn't care about it either. There was just no point in caring anymore. Still, even if Jim wouldn't admit it, the reason for acting so rebelliously did also greatly come from all of the pain of abandonment that would always be fresh in both his mind and his heart, that he just didn't know how to deal with or truly let go of.
Jim did not learn his lesson from the first incident, and instead he began to repeat it. He would skateboard in restricted areas, trying not to get caught... but somehow, he always ended up being caught anyway. Several times he was taken into the police station, and even there he didn't show much remorse for what he had done, or even respect for the officers there. At first Jim did feel the slightest bit of regret about what he was doing, and concern about what getting into so much trouble would mean for his future, but nevertheless, none of these feelings helped persuade him to actually stop these behaviors. He continued to frequently get into trouble and rebel, and as he did, his grades continued to plummet.
Jim's mother did her best to reprimand him and convince him to try to put effort into living his life again, becoming increasingly frustrated with his stubbornness, but he refused to listen to her, casually passing off what he was going through and doing as 'no big deal'. Even though he attempted to shrug off his rebelling and seemed not to care one bit about what he did, a small part of him did feel ashamed and affected whenever his mother was called down to the police station, and he was scolded by his teachers and principal for having 'given up' on his grades, and had no life or future ahead of him if he continued his pointless foolishness. In some way, he knew that the path he was going on was a bad one, but for some reason he didn't care enough to try to change his ways, and saw no point in doing so. In most respects, he had simply given up, and only cared about doing the things that gave him temporary enjoyment and satisfaction anymore.
As the years slowly passed, and Jim grew into his teenage years, his behavior got even worse than it had been. He skipped school almost twice every week, was always late, and sometimes escaped his given detentions early. He never really committed crimes such as stealing or petty vandalism, but at times he would use spray paint and graffiti to play pranks and just stir up mischief, just because he wanted to do so, and it had seemed fun to him. However, even as Jim's tendency to misbehave grew worse and worse, so did everything else in his life, and that illusion of freedom he had longed to feel eluded him, leaving only a prison of painful emotions to burden him down further.
His private guilt about what he put his mother through only increased as she grew more exhausted trying to manage her jobs and her unruly son at the same time, and seeing the strain and tiredness on her face every time she had to go to the police station or the principal's office to be told about his behavior caused him to have to turn his eyes away. The bitterness towards his mother after his father ran had never quite left him, and instead had settled inside him like a cold and corrupting poison, causing a distance between them that had crippled their relationship, and they had never quite recovered from it. The boy never really told his mother anything, and instead just did his best to avoid her tired and disappointed gaze whenever he could.
Despite this, Sarah had never stopped loving him for an instant, and instead was more concerned about him than ever, but hardly knew how to help her unruly, distant son when he simply refused to let her try, and at this point was nearly at the end of her rope with dealing with him due to how exhausting and frustrating it was. Soon however, an opportunity came for Sarah to do something to try to remedy the situation, for both her son, and somebody else. She had heard of and knew quite well of the orphan Sari Zoe, as everyone in the surrounding area had, who had just recently escaped yet another foster home, one in the long line of others that the girl had fled from. Now yet again, someone had to take her in. No one else really seemed too eager.
And so Sarah decided, after much consideration and thought about the matter, that they would be the ones that would attempt to give Sari a home. She felt that it would be good for Jim to have someone that he could connect to and understand, since she obviously couldn't be that person, as hard as she tried. She felt that it would be good for Sari as well, since she could only imagine how much a girl like that must be going through, and how much she must need a family that truly loved and cared for her. And so, a few months later during the time that Jim was thirteen, he and his mother took in Sari Zoe, as a foster child. At first it took a little time to adjust to the situation, for all of them. But Sarah did her best, and treated Sari as her own daughter, without any bias or favoring. Both of the kids got sternly scolded whenever it was needed, as well as reaffirmation of how much she loved both of them whenever that was needed as well.
in Jim's case, he especially didn't know how to feel at first about this unfamiliar situation that his mother had sprung on him, but in the end he had agreed to taking Sari in and had cautiously anticipated it. It wasn't long at all before Sari started to feel like his sibling, and a real part of the family. Even though this change in his life didn't cause him to give up his law breaking shenanigans, as in fact Sari being by his side only encouraged the trouble making unfortunately, it did have a very positive impact on his mental health. For once the boy had something else to think about and focus on instead of his father's abandonment, and started to slowly but surely recover from all that pain, and have a semblance of a happier life again. He still felt guilty about the stress that both he and Sari's getting into trouble now caused his mother, but Sari being by his side and there being actual laughter and smiles at their house again made it all tolerable.
About a year and a half later, Sari was still living with the Hawkins, but was still in the foster system. One evening however, Jim's mother took him aside, and solemnly asked him if he would like Sari to live with them on a permanent basis, and to be adopted as a part of their family. It didn't take long for the young teenager to immediately, and quite eagerly agree to this idea. The reason that it had taken so long for this decision to be made was that Sarah had been unsure, afraid that she would not be able to properly raise both a son and daughter and give them the lives that they deserved, but now she was ready to push her fears aside, and do all that she could to care for two as long as she lived. Once they made a decision, Jim and Sarah decided to surprise Sari with this wonderful news, and make sure that it would be plausible and entirely possible first. After meetings, and people coming by the house, all was approved. They could adopt Sari after all.
That night when Jim went to bed, he felt genuine happiness and even contentment, excited and thrilled to be able to confidently and assuredly give Sari the news that next day. However, that morning when he woke up and went to wake up Sari in her own room, the room was empty. Some of the belongings that had been there were gone. Feeling the same cold panic in his heart that had gripped it that day long ago when his father had left, the fourteen year old ran downstairs, trying to fight his rising panic. When he came downstairs he saw his mother sitting at their table, her head buried in her hands. At that moment, Jim knew what had happened, and his heart broke. Sari had run off on them.
Up until this point, the boy had thought deep inside, that Sari wouldn't stay with them forever. He had just tried to see this as an inevitability, to avoid getting hurt and feeling the pain of abandonment all over again. In his mind, he couldn't see why anyone would want to be family with him permanently anyway. But now, when they had been so close to asking Sari if she might possibly be willing to stay with them, to be so hopeful of this happening and then suddenly to lose that chance... it was too much. Tears gathered in the boy's eyes as he comprehended the fact that another person that he greatly cared about had truly left him, probably for good, but in a moment he forcefully blinked them back just as quickly, and then determinedly declared to his mother that he wasn't going to let Sari run out on them; he wasn't going to accept that she was gone without a fight this time, he just couldn't. They were going to find her, and bring her back to them.
Pulling herself together as well, Sarah agreed with her son, and immediately after that the two began to search for their lost family member. Jim wandered every street of the town while his mother made hurried calls and went herself to look other places, and forlornly skateboarded around every place that he could think to look, becoming increasingly desperate to find Sari. It became harder and harder to hold in all of his emotions of pain and hopelessness, but he did his best to hold it together with both denial and stubbornness, and a barely even viable little flicker of hope. Once they couldn't find her in the town, Jim decided to go search elsewhere in the surrounding area, solemnly promising his mother that he would be alright before determinedly running off to find her.
A long search commenced, one which mostly required the boy to wander the streets of many strange places, and even ask about any sighting of his lost sibling at some rather unsavory places, but he didn't shy away from any of it. He had to fend for his own self during this time, but he didn't really care, and in a way enjoyed the personal freedom, even if it was hardly the most ideal of circumstances to have it. At this point he had become so brave and self assertive that he had little regard for his own personal safety, many of his conflicted emotions inside urging on this unhealthy assertiveness.
Finally, after searching for a long time and going through much, Jim was able to find Sari. He was both extremely relieved and delighted, running up to the other one as soon as he lay eyes on her, took hold of her arm, and didn't let go for a long time as he dragged her to the nearest bus stop, almost as if he was scared to let go. On the way he couldn't manage to say much, so happy to have found his sibling that it was just enough to have her right there beside him, and at the same time he was determined not to ever let her go again, and yet... he also felt resigned to the fact that she had left him, and probably would try to again if that was really what she wanted.
The way back home was traveled in relative silence with only the occasional muttered phrase, until Sari began to speak about Jim's mother as if she were only his. That was what caused the emotionally drained boy to snap, interrupting her to point out her mistake, and then passionately continuing on, something bursting inside him and causing him to express everything that he had wanted to the moment he found her. He told Sari about how they had been getting ready to adopt her before she had run, how they had been going to ask her the question that very morning, how worried they had been since she had left... and how much he had missed her. He made a sincere, emotional plea to not leave them again, unless she truly wanted to, because they truly wanted her.
By the end of the boy's emotional speech, both of the siblings were nearly in tears, but the point had been made. They both went home, to be warmly greeted and affectionately scolded by a very relieved Sarah, and to once again be together as a family. A short while afterwards, the adoption was finalized, and Sari officially was adopted into the Hawkins family. Jim was very glad about this decision, and contented about the fact that it really did seem like Sari really wanted to stay with them now, maybe even forever. While it made him happy again to be around his family and especially around his sister, Jim's psyche had still suffered from this event, and this reflected negatively on all other aspects of his life.
His already low image of self worth was had greatly suffered, as his insecurities about not being worth enough for anyone to really stay, about abandonment and losing Sari again, as well as never being able to escape all of these conflicted emotions and worries that had been burdening him down for a very long time, only grew worse. Jim had almost completely given up on himself, feeling angry, confused, and trapped, and having nothing to take out all of these negative feelings and thoughts on except himself.
As could be expected, as he grew through his teenage years Jim continued to inherently disregard the law, without showing any signs of stopping, or caring about doing so. He often did so with Sari, joining with her and a few other trouble making teens to play pranks or cause trouble in some way or another. He helped them with enthusiasm, glad for the chance to belong somewhere, and feel like others understood at least his desire to escape the conformity and laws of society, and not caring whether or not they got punished for it. Something had changed in the rebellious teen however, since he had first begun breaking the law and defiantly facing whoever confronted or got him into trouble.
The boy became much more subdued every time he was brought into the police station or principal's office and was scolded in front of his mother. He began to lose some of his open brazenness with authority, though he still pretty obviously despised those who expected him to follow rules and submit to authority. He now just slumped his shoulders, got a blank look in his eyes, and just stood and waited for whatever lecture or punishment he was going to be given to be over with already instead of fighting it. The fire that had used to shine in his eyes when he was in the heat of rebelling against authority did not show anymore, and instead his dull light brown eyes expressed nothing but fading embers, and an emptiness that showed that he had practically given up, and seemed to only be going through the motions of living and caring.
He still continued to do what he wanted, and attempted to have those desperately desired tastes of freedom , but whenever confronted about those actions he was much more subdued, and almost seemed guilty at times, even though he always did his best to cover up this particular emotion. Jim had started to wear his father's old, darkly colored coat in public a couple years into his rebelling streak, and gradually he had started to wear it more and more frequently. He now practically hid inside it whenever talking to his mother or authority figures, only ever seeming to relax his slumped and defeated posture when he was out skateboarding or out with Sari.
Over the years, nearly everyone who dealt with Jim's misconduct on a regular basis eventually all seemed to label him as nothing but a lost cause, a delinquent teenager that would never learn, no matter how many times he was told. Even if they didn't say it, he could tell that those like his mother felt that way about him too. He could see it in his mother's gaze whenever she came yet again to try to bail him and his sibling out of trouble and scold them about it afterwards. She did her best to try to encourage her son to change, and to try to pursue a future and life for himself, but by this point Jim was so despondent and hopeless about his situation that he didn't see how he could have a future.
He had begun to accept the facade that he had put on for so long, of being dull minded without any potential. He didn't think that he was worth anything more than that, and so didn't deserve and couldn't attain any future for himself. There seemed to be no possible future for him out there anyway. He had trapped himself in his own personal prison in his search for freedom from all of his emotions and his pain, and he didn't see any point in even trying to free himself from it anymore. And so Jim continued in his seemingly endless cycle of doing foolish, reckless things without any restraint, suffering the consequences of it, and never escaping the emotional repercussions either.
Things went on as they had been, and Jim resignedly resolved to continue on the path that would only make things increasingly worse for his life. Eventually however, something small ended up beginning to change that course, or at least making a step in the right direction. Since Sari had been hired by the rich heiress Danny Rockers, to do various tasks as a prankster and to protect her sister, Jim was given an offer as well and eventually accepted it, mainly because of Sari having done so. Having an actual job was something that was quite new to the teenager, aside from the chores that he had to do to help his mother keep up her business. He initially had reservations about working for a rich person like Danny anyway, since usually he greatly despised such people that seemed to be above others such as himself, but eventually he discovered that working for her wasn't that bad.
The feeling of having a job of sorts, something which changed up his stale and repetitive lifestyle of just barely getting through school, causing trouble, and getting in trouble in turn, and instead began to give him a small spark of hope. Maybe he could do a little more than that and maybe even be a little more, somehow. Slowly but surely, Jim began to work just a little harder at his classes, and actually care more about learning about things, even if it was just because his curiosity about the world he lived in had been renewed after years of being dormant. Still, he would much rather discover the world by being in it rather than just hearing about it in school, and so he still had no enthusiasm about it, or having anything even resembling a social life there. To himself, he still remained nothing but a hopeless cause, that wasn't worth it.
When Jim turned seventeen, that was when Sarah decided to send Sari to university, WDU in particular, since it was fairly close by and seemed to be a good one to go to. Jim was confused by this happening, since he wanted to go with Sari as well since he would hate to be away from her for so many years, but at the same time he was sure that he couldn't get accepted into such a place, with how badly his education had gone so far, since he just hadn't cared about it until now. He talked to his mother and sibling as if he wasn't planning on even trying to go to university along with Sari, but in secret he actually worked on sending an application to it, as one last hope and last ditch effort of possibly getting to go with his sibling... and also maybe, just maybe, to be able to make something of his life, at last.
Keeping that very faint hope in mind, of possibly being able to make a future for himself, and of finding his chance to earn redemption for all of his past mistakes and transgressions, Jim worked harder than he ever had worked on anything before on his application, and eventually he apprehensively sent it in to the university, miserably expecting to be denied. However, extremely unexpectedly and to his great surprise, he was actually accepted into the university, showing again the great potential he had, if he just put his mind to it. At first Jim was too shocked to be happy about this happening, but nevertheless he soon told his mother, who was overjoyed to hear this news, and extremely proud of him as well. Sarah would miss both Sari and Jim and was a bit concerned for the both of them to be alright out there, but nevertheless she wanted them to have the best opportunities that they could have by going to universities and being prepared for adulthood, and so soon it came time to tearfully send them off to university. Jim was still a little uncertain about going to university after so long of not caring about his future or where his life would lead, but now he actually had the chance to change that, and make his mother proud.
He was now going to take that chance, no matter where that path would lead him- which would hopefully be a better path than the one he had been traveling so far.
