Jass is a natural adventurer with a large curiosity. Unfortunately for him, it doesn't work well with his terrible sense of direction and his ability to easily start bar fights. He's loyal to his friends and tends to be wary of strangers. He has an alcohol problem but not many people can tell he's drunk (look for that nonchalant/sleepy expression) so he can slip in his habit during work (which doesn't mix well with his position). He's not loud or quiet, pretty average in anyone's eye. He's not well with keeping a conversation; tends to be "too straightforward" or cracking terrible jokes. But the guy is a decent listener. Mentioning his tribe is a bit of a sensitive topic. Jass likes them because they are his kin and don't have bad personalities, but tribe traditions can be a pain.


Being a Sand Elf, he likes to grab anything that is useful. Warm weather reminds him of home, as well as the old bow he keeps just as a reminder. Basically a love/hate relationship but with not much drama. Let loose, join the pirates and plunder. Boy, did he "plunder." Jass likes the booty (literally in both sense) - could be bribed with booze or money. Also he's an artillery nut, so if the guy looks calm when talking about his guns, don't be fooled (he's a fanboy). In a regular sense, the guy is chill, just don't talk about ghost stories. Now if only he can brag about his journeys to his family- if he can find their nomadic asses.

Biography


Jassur was born in Agnarach, where the sand dunes were high as ocean waves. The nomadic tribe, Batal Alr-rmal, is his family, a famed tribe for their hunters. Hence the translation of Batal, "Champion." The harsh desert life and blazing heat is his life. His brothers and sisters train as hunters with him during their childhood. Their Coming of Age trial was a large hunt in search for a rare beast in the sands. Even with no official leadership, Jass says the most commands, making him the unsaid leader for the group of teens. He's always excelled in the tribe's teachings so expectations were high for the young man. It all goes down hill when the rare beast is accompanied by more of it's kind, a very odd occasion. Their batch looses three of their kin to the beasts, including an old flame of Jass's.


Feeling guilty for the whole ordeal, Jass asks for the Sun tattoo, the reward of the trials, to be placed on his neck. The tribe praises his leadership, as well as the elder looking towards the young Jass as an apprentice so he could inherit the title of chief. Noticing his son's guilt, Jass's mother asks what the young man wants. To leave the tribe and make his own achievements, he responds- to be a better man. The tribe has always been stuck to the sands, moving only in Agnarach. Seeing the world would help him. 


But the world isn't kind and simple. The ideas of people believing to be better than others is mind boggling to a Sand Elf who's been equal with his kin. Just mentioning about how a person is- to knock said person off their high horse- only equates to them becoming defensive. Jass wanders the lands for most of his years (large reason is his tendency to get lost), picking up more skills, like artillery and swordsmanship, as he meets more people of different origins. His hair grows just enough to cover the tattoo. The Sand Elf  turned to being a stowaway as a way of transportation. Until ... The last ship turned out to be a pirate ship. And he got hired as their gunner after getting an earful from the ship's captain.
