The Book of The Dead, also known as the Book of Coming Forth by Day or the Book of Emerging Forth into the Light, is a powerful artifact containing two things. The first is a wide range of spells that aid a soul in crossing over to the Underworld, finding their way through, and reaching the Duat, the Egyptian afterlife. The second is an account of the resurrection of Osiris. The book allows Jack to return the dead to true life. However, it isn't as easy as simply whipping the book out, saying a few magic words, and hey presto they're back. Jack must undertake a journey into the Egyptian Underworld to reclaim a recently departed soul. Such a journey ordinarily takes about a month, although the passage of time may seem different for Jack. It is possible for others to accompany Jack, but have fun with him agreeing. The book does provide some guidance on the journey, but the experience is ultimately one that could and does take many forms.
