Roughly 60 million years ago a meteor fell and struck the earth landing inside a volcano in modern day Hawaii. This was the reason the dinosaurs all died. The meteor was an egg. It contained a monster. The monster made the volcano it's home. It grew. It adapted. It has been sleeping for 60 million years and has been awoke to see that it's home it covered in small pink blobs (humans). It has no idea what these things are except it's hungry and pissed. It breaks out of it's home. A 60-ft monster made of magma with molten rock for eyes and a mouth. You are at home watching as the military scramble to even mildly distract the beast.
