DISASTER
It came upon the world quickly after the nuclear war broke out between the United States and Russia. The entire human population was in uproar as they tried to find ways to escape what was becoming WWIII. Bunkers, bomb shelters, and other traditions that had once been left behind were suddenly in high demand. The fighting went on for months, each time more brutal and effective. However, when winter came it suddenly stopped. Much of the Americas had suffered great casualties and deaths, landmarks, towns, and even full cities destroyed. The remaining couple of millions were overjoyed that they had witnessed the end of the worst war in the history of the world. Those who thought this were terribly wrong. What they'd seen was only the beginning of what was to come, if they could've known then, they would have wished the nuclear attacks killed them. No one could imagine how horryfiying it'd be to live in a world where it's kill or be killed. In a secret surviving bio-chemical lab, the mutated pathogen known as V-187 was being engineered. It would be released on enemy lines to really end the problem.
INFECTION
South Korea, that's where it all began. What was meant to be used on enemies became the lab's own downfall.A simple mistake in the cooling chamber turned one of the scientists into an undead flesh eater. Zombies would be the more generic term. The virus had been altering and growing within the tube, mutating on it's own. This had not been what the purpose was supposed to be. All the virus was meant to do was damage cerebral tissue and permanently disable armed forces on enemy line. The antidote that had been produced had already been sent to Alaska, where the rest of the staff was supposed to be transferred. However, only the head scientist along with four assistants made it out. The pathogen quickly spread throughout the world, it soon became an unstoppable plague, killing most who had survived. The few rebuilding hospitals were of no use, and ended up killing most of those who came in infected. There was no cure, no aid, and no supplies. It didn't take too long before the dead overpopulated the living. Some of the survivors banned together and were able to use some of the abandoned shelters or bunkers. However, most contributed to the undead population.
ISOLATION
As those secretly still ruling realized the chaos that the virus had caused, they decided to take ten teens and bring them to the base in Alaska, along with the cures and scientist team that would be monitoring them. They wanted a human able to bond with the virus, and produce it's own antibodies in order to defeat the cure. Five girls and Five boys were set to be tested on, putting obstacles in their ways through training once DNA modifications had been made. The first level of the base was abandoned, with only the teens staying above. Their minds had been wiped of memories, and any knowledge other than basic understanding. During their modifications, each teen had been injected with a sample of the cure and a sample of the virus, in hopes that there would be a high chance of success. After three weeks, the test subjects were to lie dormant, while all testing was moved to the lower levels. There was to be no contact. No matter what happened, the test was now active and running, it was up to the boys and girls to figure the circumstances out.
NOW
Inhale, exhale, inhale, exhale. Your chest rises and falls gently, as your breath becomes stable. A camera watches from the corner of the room as you begin to come to your senses. A gruesome pain fills your body as the IV stops pumping painkillers. There are metal rods imbedded into your skin, allowing brain waves to be monitored. You have needles embedded all over your body causing you even more pain. As you sit up, the rods on the side of your head pull on the skin, making your scream in agony. Angered, you rip them out along with the rest of the tubes and needles. There is a dark two way mirror in front of you. Your mind is racing to try and remember something, anything. You look down to notice a simple pair of white sheets held by a clip covering your body. Panic surges through you as you try to figure out what's happening. As you lean over the edge of the table to stand, you inevitably fall due to weakness in your legs. Will you lay there? Stand? Or exit to try and find some answers?
