Iron Fist of Terra (UNDER CONSTRUCTION)

King of Snek
A millennia ago, civilization used to live in the ground, which is what I suppose the lands divided by expansive spans of water, all throughout, which is quite ridiculous if you think about it carefully.

In the past epoch, the world experienced a series of chaotic periods, as extreme shockwaves ruined the Earth for half a century, creating debilitating, wide faults into the world we once knew as normal, destroying the norms of civilization in the process.

Much about everyone decided that the apocalypse, however we see it, had begun. Only for scientists, and those invested in most logistics, to obviously realize that the faults were moving about, quite radically. The cities, and the physical lands above the faults, the borders, were the ones that took the whole brunt of the abuse, which came from the earthquakes. The government established a semblance of orders, by creating outposts, or rather, 'safe' zones for the people to live a whatever normal life they could scrounge in.

But due to some miracle of some sort, the earthquakes once-unending thirst for destruction came to surprising end, as an uncanny silence bestowed its presence to us. However, we were foolish enough to accept the false assurance which the sudden stop of all the ravaging gave us, for as soon as it stopped, the ground suddenly started to lift itself, with only a moment of serenity spacing the two incidents.

Something close to millennia later, the same coalition of goverments from around the world, which had earlier dedicated itself to helping those in need, had turned their backs to their supporters. Establishing itself as an authoritarian government, under the belief that true peace and order, can only be achieved by complete disintegration of personal rights, and freedom.

The government, under the title of the United Government of Terra, lead by its current leader, Stewart Fink. The descendent of a long line of leaders, which has lead the new world. The UGT was created, from the many fractured governments which lay on the ruins, as an attempt to salvage whatever form of authority that remained, and lead the new world.

The only people who even dare rebel the government, are the, obviously socialist, People's Army of Terra. And the only group to take complete advantage of this situation, are an outcast group, known only as the Sky Pirates, official name pending, of course.

RULES

Obey thy rules

1. Commons: The usual, no metagaming, puppetry, Mary Sues or anything out of the bounds of RP normalcy, which I presume is something you know. Seriously, we'll put your ass to blast if we see you commit one of these sins, and I ain't even joking, boy.

2. Detail: This isn't a simple RP, and we won't make any exception for, frankly, people who're not knowledgeable with all the ins and outs of writing. The minimum is two paragraphs, two really finely written paragraphs, although I expect at least three paragraphs, but that's a personal thing. Fine paragraphs, of course. One can make typos and such, but don't repeatedly make the same mistake. Correct your grammar skills if you have to.

3. Respect: Respect your fellow role players, and us, and keep your calm. Always, boy, always.

3/2. Write SteamPower 3000 in your sheet if you've read the rules. Doesn't apply to the Mods, or course.

4. Fun: Fun is, like, mandatory in here. If you aren't having any fun, even if it's minuscule in amount, then you're rather unfit for this RP, and will be heavily reprimanded by me, personally.

5. Assistance: Don't be afraid to ask me, or any of the other GMs here if you need any help.

6. Site rules: Follow all the rules and regulations of RPnation. If you haven't read them, then please do take aside some time to read, and acknowledge, them.

ADDITIONAL LORE

For a better understanding of the world

Energy

As the ground was ripped apart from the lands beneath, so was the valuable resources it contained, and the majority of it is made up by coal, or more formally, fossil fuel. Since the very establishment of Terra, the major populace used steam engines to power their vehicles, land transportation and sky ships alike. Other resources often used in place of coal, are solidified carbons, since coal has seen extreme shortages in recent years. Water is also a viable usage, albeit rather inefficient, since the heat from its steam often provides a good amount of energy, yet the stream of said energy isn't steady. Wood is also usable, but it's only seen work in private establishments, often from rural areas.

Clockwork and nuclear technology, the latter used to power the hydrogen reactors which provide the citizens with clean, reliable energy, with which they power their houses and other commodities. Clockwork has seen minimal use in weapons, construction and research tech, although it's generally just rarely used. Nuclear is often used in complex, or extremely large vehicles, mostly implemented by dreadnought, or destroyer class sky ships.

Both solar, and wind power are typically used hand-in-hand, as the atmosphere, in the skies, are actually quite windy and sunnier than the lands beneath. As such, they see a fair amount of light, in the form of commercial usage. Rudimentary wind turbines are often used by the underclassmen, due to the inability to afford all the other energy types.

All in all, the most common source of all energy, comes from the impeccably designed steam power plants.

Vehicles & Weaponry

The most common tool for locomotion and transportation, includes the majestic steam-powered airships, and the many similarly powered trains, assisted by the railway laden lands of Terra. Trains are often used by the middle and the working class, but more luxurious trains are also used by the social elites.

Sky ships scatter throughout the skies, as its name suggests heavily, so large are they, that each supports their own sort of ground, as described by most officers and sailors. The trains are an extremely important factor in both the lives of the working class, and the social elites, as the trains provide the much needed transportation through the many sectors the land of Terra offers.

Weaponry is one of the most vital advances here, and so much, that one of the most prestigious occupations just happen to he Gunsmiths, and other scientists. With the country advancing extremely fast, more so than its previous counterpart.

Implementing post-Civil War tech, Terra has a massive array of innovative weaponry, including Gatling guns, Proton-based repeating rifles, and lever-action shotguns.

Social & Economical Structure

This is an extremely complex matter in Terra, as the differences between the various classes are quite extreme. Although the government of Terra follows a modern bureaucratic (If not indirectly authoritarian) method of maintaining the lands, the system still has some imperfections, mainly in the form of obvious differences and inequalities between the classes, mostly in the form of power, authority and wealth. An apparent reminiscent of the victorian era's social structure.

Organizations

Factions and such

The Sky Pirates

An illusive group, or more than that, composed of outcasts, former mercenaries and soldiers. Not much is known about them, except for their daring undertaking of missions, mostly consisting of a preposterous scale. Their objectives are mostly made up of smuggling, leeching energy sources, raiding and arms dealing. It's also assumed, that they follow an anarcho-socialist ideology. Nevertheless, they're quite vigorous in their attacks, and their forces have never been either verified, or analysed correctly.

United Government of Terra

The most dominant, and largest, faction in Terra, supported by multiple sub-divisions, and fully functioning country, and most of the power plants, which they control. The UGT, are quite the formidable opponent, primarily because of the power the hold, and the power-hungry that plutocrats that are within them. Established by the Fink family, along with various figures of authority during the initial establishment of a country in Terra. The concept of their views and system became more skewed as time passed. From a republic to a totalitarian goverment. It's quite apparent, that everything quickly went downhill after the death of the Stephen Fink, and after which, the government enforced more stern rules, mostly concentrating on order, which became more and more tightened. Their primary priority during that period was to eliminate freedom at its best, only for the illusion of it to remain, as they theorized that freedom and extra forms rights often led to riots.

Somewhere during the 400th year, they experienced quite the disability, in terms of finances, as the overpopulation that plagued them from the beginning soon turned out to be more than a fruitless nuisance. Intrigued by the social system that the Victorians used back in their heyday, Leonard Fink, sought to reform the social system, and divide the people into extreme classes, depending on their level of power and wealth. It succeeded later on, although Leonard himself didn't live long enough to see his fruit.

United Government of Terra's State Army

The organized state army of the UGT, tasked with maintaining the safety of this glorious nation, and taking down all the terrorists who dare defy the government. Swift and brutal in dishing out justice, to even the most minor offenders, the Army are regarded as one of the most remorseless, yet equally powerful, forces in Terra.

United Government of Terra's Ground Authority

Otherwise known as the police force, they patrol the streets and quench the many riots that take place within Terra's more underground — the term being used rather loosely — population. They're also tasked with maintaining basic concepts of authority, and order, something which the army are quite undermanned to do so at all times. Truly the most standard of armed forces.

United Goverment of Terra's Marshals

Equipped with more priority than the ground authority, and allowed access to ships and such. They're tasked with operations that are of a more larger, and more precise, scale, that the ground authority can't handle all so that well. Created by Robert Harper, during the peak of the government's success, the Marshals were distinctly thought to be a precursor to the U.S.A's oldest force of authority, and although similarities might exist, they're not all that same.

United Goverment of Terra's Skyfleet

Considered one of the most prestigious divisions in the UGT's Army. Mostly armed with gigantic ships, equipped with fitting massive defences and turrets, they defend Terra from the offence that lies both outside, and within. Defending the various transport ships, assisting the state army, and destroying any adversaries, the Skyfleet is both extremely intimidating and bold.

The Confluence of the Lotus

Taking on the Ideals of a Culture long past, discovered from a fairly amount of lost books, unearthed and dusted off. The Confluence is quite against any amount of corruption, and at their base concept, they view almost anyone, not aligned to them, as evil. They uphold a heavy sense of honor and detest the sky pirates, although the former may not actually be true due to their radical beliefs, thinking them to be simple anarchists. The Lotus wage quick and fast skirmishes on UGT Factories, facilities and bases, and the UGT themselves are suspecting the Lotus, and as such, tension is riff amongst them. While they'd deny any claim of this, a good lot of them are placed in the UGT itself, provides a lot do windows for espionage. They truly believe that the Government, and everyone else, should pay for it's sins. Frankly, everyone else sees them as war-mongering barbarians. It's all relative.

The people who join this faction are usually those wronged by the UGT's corrupted, or just crazy, fanatical gnostic bimbos.

Further studies reveal, that they were created by the Law of Sahelanthropus, whatever stiff thing they were studying sure did invigorate them, their leader saw corruption all around them. Corruption that could only be cleansed through a great and violent purge. No cost too great, no blood too precious. Change is sudden, violent, and a necessary force to ensure the world can return to a state of balance. The Lotus merely see themselves as an instrument of such change, and the others see them as stupid, quite simple.

Supported by a fairly large army, multiple weapons stolen from right under UGT's nose, and a fragment of earth, all for themselves to house their residences, factories and army.

The Socialist Collective

Also known as TSC, they're always thought to be the primary resistance against the government, due to their rising workforce, and increasing knowledge of guerrilla warfare. Believing Terra's unbalanced economy, and its nature towards the poor and unskilled to be oppressive, Rick Albertson, initially theorized that a peaceful protest was all it could take for the society to reform, he was, needless to say, very wrong. As he did succeed in motivating the people to protest, most of them were killed or detained, disgusting the fazed Rick to some deeper extents.

A fair amount of people, including Rick, from the worker's class and the under class, took refuge in a previously undiscovered service tunnel, teeming with other more larger veins of tunnels. Rick, seeing the opportunity that arose in front of him, and propelled by the various literary pieces of communism and socialism, created the liberation army, to overthrow the UGT.

Although the faction are have the major setback of poor technology of out-dated weaponry, this is compensated for, by their immense populace and various guerrilla tactics, unconventional, but gets the job done, it's also best to be noted that they're extremely hostile to all forces aligned with the UGT, and the UGT themselves, of course. They're mostly neutral to the Sky Pirates, and fairly cautious around the people of Lotus.

Argus

A private military corporation, the most powerful to date, catering to people, who're in need for some elite forces, provided they have the required fees. They mostly align to whoever pays the most, and hates them the least, and as such, they're quite motivated by money, loot and other benefits to themselves. Created by Pete Darcy, after the collusion and separation of the UGT's Army, and the coup d'etat that came before it. Compelled to establish a more secure army, and receive piles of the cash at the same time, Darcy, using his wealth and political connections, established a security corporation, that's immune to most charges and detainment. Although, it was once a security corporation, it has evolved into a private military corporation. They're mostly supported by their vast array of outposts, up-to-date technology, and the increasing amount of advanced weaponry they procure from the government.

ArmTek Industries

They're primarily considered as a minor faction in the whole conflict, due to their motivations being quite limited to only developing weaponry, establishing depots, and mining resources, they're still very much of a threat, since they hold a supposed enmity towards most factions except for the goverment, but with whom they have a whole lot of tension going on. The company has a fairly large number of depots and power plants under its belt, all of which could be easily taken advantage of, if not for the rather big army that guards them.
