RIP Doctor Calgori (2012-2017)
Reno Times
June 4th, 2001
Yesterday morning officers of the Huntsfort Sheriff’s Department found the bodies of Erica Waldorf and her brother-in-law Jacob Waldorf in the Swamps of the Huntsfort wetlands. The bodies were found near the family home on the outskirts of town. The Reno Police Department made a statement yesterday afternoon stating that the cause of death is yet to be established…
It was later discovered that the two had drowned in the swamp and that the deaths had been accidental. Four years later, both of Arthur’s children ran away, something which was made public knowledge through town gossip. Since then, not much is known about what goes on in the little house in the forest, where Arthur now lives. And no one knows what has become of the family's mansion, deeper into the dark Nevada woods.
You are a student studying journalism in Vegas and have been tasked with doing a story on the family’s history with a group of other students. But when you arrive you soon realize that there is much more to the Waldorfs than what is publicly known and there’s a lot more to Huntsfort, Nevada, than you could ever imagine. Get ready for a heart pounding thrill ride. A free form roleplay which will put your investigative mind to work. A classic thriller about greed, jealosy, tragedy and death. You will learn to fear, The Sound of Silence.
The Sound of Silence is a free form game which means there is absolutely no dice rolling involved. It is a collaborative storytelling effort where your writing affects the turn of events. This means you need to have some experience with writing in general and you need to be an individual who knows the basic grammar rules of the English language. It's also good to note that this is not a classic roleplay epic. It's a game with a beginning and an end. In role-playing terms, think of it more as one adventure than a larger campaign.
I hope you enjoy the game. Cheers!

Wavy, sandy hair. Trimmed scruff. Calculating golden-green eyes that seem to see right through you. Unassuming, small smile. Swimmer build, little to no body hair. Tan from being out in the sun a lot. Tends to wear belted khakis with black button-up shirts. Vintage hemp and shell choker. Pierced nips. Tattoo of a lemniscate at his right wrist.
Personality: Ditzy and wildly imaginative, day dreamer Kip tends to jump to conclusions. He can be vague and secretive about his honest opinion because well, why be dull when there's many other exciting options to mold life into? More a creative writer than a journalist, Kip isn't sure how he got here and feels it is an accident he is going on this trip to do the story on the Waldorfs. But all the same, their mysterious history intrigues him. He at least feels better he isn't alone tasked to write. Kip is a total Pisces~ and a total Alice and Dorothy type, drawn to anything that strikes him odd. He will often compare an incident to literature or film cliche.
History: Kip Norris wanted nothing to do with Iowa and his redneck family, ruined from two broken marriages. Never counted on speaking to them anytime soon. His half-brother repeatedly sexually abused him even after Kip told the family, but they refused to hear a word of it. Their father often took him out to their barn to be beaten within an inch of his life to stop the lies, so often the smell of hay and mud or the taste of corn never failed to make him nauseous. Kip was fifteen when he watched the barn burn down before he hitchhiked out of state.
Kip Norris arrived in Las Vegas at age eighteen. He worked at Luxor, a 30-story black glass pyramid hotel and never wasted a chance to get together with friends and tourists for drinks, drugs, and volleyball at the MGM pool. Kip was also somewhat of a conman and filched from the unsuspecting drunks. He had a very fluid sexual life and was once an escort for several years before he was brutally violated. He then forced his attacker to overdose on pills, despite the pleadings for mercy. Alas, Kip no longer believed in such a beautiful notion.
Kip had dreamed of being a screenwriter in Hollywood. He'd write a movie for kids out there. Take them away from this dark place. Being careful, however, led him astray and become a student in journalism and write about this dark place instead. The irony in this had not escaped him. Kip liked to consider himself just like Peter Pan, forever young. Perhaps he could succeed and remain a child. Perhaps he could win and believe in mercy again. Perhaps not.
