Erith is comprised of 8 primary regions. If a region has a capitol it also has an Overseer. These act as the primary rules for the region, enforcing the King's rule. The entire country is about the size of Mainland Europe (not including Russia, Finland, Sweden, or Norway).
Kepet is by far the largest city in Erith. It takes the tip of a peninsula that sticks out of the mainland in the SSE "corner" of the country towards the South West and is, in fact, the capitol of Erith. There is an incline towards the tip of the peninsula, leading to a sharp cliff known as Ravens Edge. It obtained this name because jumping off is guaranteed death and Erithians (the natives) associate ravens with death.
This castle is one of a kind, floating close to 75 feet off the ground at its lowest point and 300 feet at the top of the highest tower. It clearly used to be part of the ground, as indicated by the giant crater floating below it. People use the crater for recreational swimming these days. Four massive lengths of chain anchor the castle in place, though there is no record of the castle before it's days in the sky.
It gets it's name from either the royals (who's last name is Starlock) or due to it's position locked with the stars. The Royal family is actually not related by blood. They are all descendants of Terans (natives of Earth) who helped to create the current political structure. There are only three known entrances to the Castle which are all constantly guarded and require manpower to move the gondolas, making it the most secure location on Erith. The royal family, of course, live in the castle. It is also used as the military's primary base. In the bowls of the rock the castle sits on is Ironhold prison. This is where the worst of the worst are sent. Well, before the Virus Extermination Act, that is. It still holds dangerous criminals, but not ones of such high priority.
(This picture is not an exact representation.)
The Plains extend north towards the mainland from Kepet, covering the rest of the peninsula and extending outwards in all directions (but most notably to the West). To the West of the forest it travels almost all the way to the mountains and borders the desert. The wildlife here is usually quite tame (save for wild boar). The land is frequently used for farming and ranching, producing the most food in all of Erith. The region's capitol is Tenza, located at the base of the peninsula. Many other towns are scattered across the Plains, increasing in density the closer they are to either Kepet or Tenza.
The desert is the Western most region of Erith. Most of it in uninhabitable, being nothing more than a sea of golden sand. The towns that do pop up all cluster around an oasis or the Thum River. Many of the Oasis hold deep underground reserves that is replenished by the Thum. The Thum River flows from an unknown source to the North. It splits into two major forks, the East and West Thum. Only the West Thum dumps into the ocean. The East fork falls into a giant canyon known as Hell's Deep. The capitol of this region is Octren. All roads in the desert are made of sandstone with towers marking the path. No one has traveled too far to the West and lived to tell about it. Most assume it is uncross-able due to the lack of water and shelter. The same principle is applied to the North, as the terrain becomes colder, rougher, and the Thum River itself freezes over. The wildlife in this region is fairly hostile, but also easy to deal with since most of them are small. There are, however, some very large creatures that travel in swarms and prove to be a challenge to fend off.
Heading north of Tenza and East of the westernmost edge of the Plains, you will find the Forest Region. It has a decent population and the highest concentration of hunters. Near the center of the region is it's capitol, Tillon. The wildlife here can be formidable, but most are passive.
The Jungle Region smoothly transitions from the East of the Forest Region and continues expanding towards the South and East. The only indication that you are changing region is the road signs. The wildlife here is several times more dangerous than the Forest. Some say the creatures that live there will kill you simply for taking a nap in the wrong place. Still, with a bit of caution and know how it is certainly livable. It is well known for it's water formations and beautiful beachfront. It's capitol city, Lillor, has an entire market place built over the Mitip River.
The Swamp Region is widely unsettled due to its hostile nature. The King's influence is limited here as it is difficult to enforce his rule. The little ground found here is certainly not solid, as every step sinks in and fills with water. Due to this, floating pathways have been constructed from tree to tree, and all buildings reside among branches. Almost everything here can and will kill you, given the opportunity. Most land predators will sink their venom-filled fangs into your flesh, water creatures are known for their incredible jaw strength, and many plants are toxic (some even to the touch). One plant in particular is known to chuck flaming projectiles at threats. Disease is also very rampant. Some Viruses use the Swamp for hideouts, but it is difficult. There is no capitol of this region. It can be found taking up the South East corner of the jungle (North and West are Jungle while South and East are ocean).
The Snow Region is north of both the Forest and Jungle Regions. It encompass a large coniferous forest in its Eastern area, and a large open field in the Western. Both of these face large amounts of snow. The Northern edge of this region is constantly covered with a layer of snow while the Southern Region rarely faces any. Despite this rather extreme difference, it is only about 1/5th the thickness of the forest region. It stretches from the Boulder Intermediate (read later) to the West to the ocean in the East, making it the longest region by far. It faces some decently tough creatures (mostly in the snow forest area). Located in the Snow Forest area just a few miles from the snow field is the city of Busha. This is the official capital of the Snow Region, but it is the smallest of all capitols and holds very little political power. Speaking of the Ocean, no one has ever traveled out to sea and returned. They have traveled along the coast, but that's it.
The Mountain Region is, like the Swamp, largely free from Royal control. The environment is not suitable for traveling in large groups (like anything sent to enforce the law) and settlements are few and far between. This is where most Virusues find their home. One of the major down sides of living here is the animals. The ones that live here are large, strong, resilient, and all willing to hunt. Ok, so not all. Creatures like rabbits live here, but most are Yeti, mountain cats, etc. and they are all willing to hunt each other. It also tests people's endurance with high peaks and little oxygen. No one knows what's passed the mountain wall. Or at least no one's returned to tell everyone else.
In some locations the rocks have a tendency to float. This creates a very impressive sight, but it is nearly impossible to use for building as they do shift positions.
Intermediates are regions located in grey areas. They technically belong to one region, but tend to have questionable characteristics.
This is located between the Desert and Mountain/Snow Regions. It technically belongs to the Desert Region, but it is given little attention. It is littered with, as the name implies, boulders. The entire terrain is uneven. Traveling by means of horse is not an option as you'd need to climb just to make any progress. Due to this, no one as managed to travel North using this rout either.
(There is little to know plant life)
The Deadlands are a space between the Desert and the Plains. It is a dry land where nothing can grow. The land is covered in tiny cracks as plates of dirt and clumps of sand form. It technically belongs to the Desert Region.
Between all of the forests is a bit of a grey area. All of them have distinct political borders, but it is nearly impossible to tell without road signs.
