The Reapers: The Reapers were originally a regular faction of of thugs, criminals, and drug dealers that operated in New York. After the blast, a good deal of them gained strange abilities, making them more powerful, but decreasing their sanity. They are lead by some psychotic tar-controlling conduit, which enables them to somehow... manipulate the mind into following them. Rising in rank and aggression, the reapers became strong enough to take control of one of the districts.
The Dust Men: The Dust Men, were a large faction of homeless men, crooks, and people who didn't have a heck of a lot of money. In the midst of the blast, they gained telekinetic abilities, which they used to take over the Warren District. Under the control of a powerful individual named Alden, the Dust Men are highly dangerous indeed.
The First Sons: The First Sons is a secret scientific society dedicated to the enhancement of humans through unnatural means. Unknown to regular people, they are the ones who created the ray sphere in the first place, the architects of the disaster. They are lead by an elusive, powerful force known to the initiated as Kessler.
