Born the oldest of four kids to his parents, it's pretty clear how Inali became the overprotective big brother that he is. Growing up, he did his best to always look out for his siblings, even if his first brother is only two years younger than him. Even at such a young age Inali knew and understood that as the eldest, he had to watch out for his siblings, and in his young mind, he was honored. His parents trusted him enough to look out for them and be responsible and he didn't want to let them down. So when his sister, and youngest sibling, was born he was already settled into the protective brother role where he did his best to look out for and guide his brothers. Now it was time for him to do the same for his sister.
When his mother passed away, Inali was devastated, but he knew he had to step up. Sure, they still had their dad, but he couldn't let it all rest on the man's shoulders. So the minute he could, he started doing odd jobs around the neighborhood to try and get some money to help pay for little things for his siblings. He mowed laws, shoveled driveways, did newspaper routes, anything and everything people could come up with so they'd have an excuse other than pity to give him some spare change.
By the time he started high school, Inali had only recently discovered his obsession with music. He'd already been on the football team, enjoying the physical activity when a random elective class he'd taken in his sophomore year introduced him to what he wanted to do with his life. It was also during this time that he thought he met the love of his life.
Of course, as most high school romances go, this one was not meant to last. The girl he spilled his heart out to while gushing about his family and his music and everything he was interested in, turned around and stabbed him in the back their senior year. She mocked him for his deep feelings, cheated on him and stole some of his first attempts at song-writing. In short, she broke him.
The following years, while he was still his usual overprotective self regarding his siblings, Inali was much colder when interacting with everyone else. And when their father died, it only got worse. He stepped up even more, trying to take care of his family, even if they didn't want him to. He took anything and everything thrown at him and locked it away. He didn't have time for things like that.
By the time he was able to finally start college after making sure his family was financially secure without him working nonstop, things were better. He wasn't fully over what had happened to him, but he'd made a start. Some of the friends he'd made while working were able to bring him out of his slump and get him to pursue music again and get him to go to college.
So he did, and he recognizes it as the best decision of his life. While he's still a bit cold to some, he's much more open now and able to joke around with others and enjoy himself. Now in his final year, he's hoping things will only get better.
