Double Luck
Just a big FYI here that may answer the first question I'm sure you're all asking: our characters are starting out on earth and we will proceed through the Polyphemos gate in the coming first dozen posts or so. That way, we all arrive at the same time, learn at the same time, and generally stay on the same page... at the same time. ;)

If you're dying for more information about the world of Terra, I can set you up with access to a shared Microsoft OneNote journal that most of the information (if not pretty much all of it) is contained in. You don't need the full OneNote program, I don't think, just a Microsoft account to view it online.

@Samantha Robin xD ! Totally not offended. Lots of people take horseback riding lessons. And, unfortunately, horseback riding and swimming lessons were the only two sports I could think of... Well, and chess club. But I thought that was too nerdy. And didn't necessarily encourage social skills. Since I joined chess club to avoid people and whatnot. Anyway. Moving on. ^.^

Just an "FYI" note here for everyone: posting order isn't a factor for me. I'm the type that can get antsy in their seat during a role play. I also believe the most preemptive measure one can take in preventing an RP's death is to be proactive in posting. I will never advance the scene or setting at a rate that leaves other authors behind, however, so you have no need to worry about that.

Also, stay on your toes. As @Syrena recalled earlier in a private convo with me, I do love my plot twists and foreshadowing. ;)

(Oh, and I also updated a critical error I noticed after my last post: Titus is a "commander", not a "major". I've made the appropriate edits to correlate the IC with my notes. The ASF uses their own ranking tree. I can pass on those details later when I complete my fancy chart.)

I don't really understand the scene though. So, we're standing below Titus on the command deck and he's commanding all the technicians?

Titus is the team lead, an ASF member that's been charged as an officer to coordinate, direct, and protect the expedition team beyond the gate. In short, he's a commanding officer of a unit. "Odysseus" (the team) consists of both scientists and Apex Security Forces members (the paramilitary specialists that work for Apex Corp). A third entity (the Valkyries, another PMC) are also going along, but do not fall under Titus' command. Instead, they only answer to their own company, which has delegated authority to Evenway (via a contract).

At the moment, in the scene, Titus, Evenway, and Rouge are standing on a raised deck about halfway up the chamber (which is, give or take, five stories tall). This deck is where the technicians in charge of the gate are sitting (you can think of it as "mission control"). On the bottom floor is the rest of Odysseus, waiting around for the gate to activate. At the foot of the ramp leading to the gate are the five Valkyries.

I had my post on my phone and I was working on it, but I changed my phone and forgot about the post X( Will take some time

I'm going to go ahead and push forward on the story later this afternoon. I'd like for our characters to be in Terra in the coming few posts.

Alright, so my last post had a lot going on in it in only a handful of paragraphs (yes, to me, that was only a handful). If you have any questions, I'm open to answer them or alleviate any confusion or misunderstandings. In the Overview tab up top, I've added some information on Apex and Valkyrie Logistics (those other guys that think they're hot stuff and got to walk through the gate first... twice in a row). I'm also going to add in some small bits of trivia on the side of my IC posts to explain military and science jargon that may not quite click with the casual reader/participant.

Couple of things before we go any further:

Out of respect for a colleague and fellow writer, I'm changing the name of the world from "Terra" to "Zamin" (basically going from Latin to Dari; to both match up with cultural context and also to separate this story further from the afore mentioned colleague's story). Also, I've settled on a final title for this story: Beyond Odyssey.

Oh, and it's night time. The expeditionary team will have been in the new universe for about two hours now. The camp is under attack by humanoid creatures that hunt on the surface only at night. They're nocturnal and also weakened by any strong light source (whether natural or artificial). These ruthless horrors are known as "nightmares". View the attachment for some artwork concepts I found. Despite the name of the file, they aren't vampires... but they do like to munch on human prey. They are fragile and can be killed with merely one or two small caliber rounds, but they are fast and intelligent.<p><a href="<fileStore.core_Attachment>/monthly_2015_03/VampSet.jpg.59af34926023a39c1a3d5d0d76a9fc02.jpg" class="ipsAttachLink ipsAttachLink_image"><img data-fileid="45778" src="<fileStore.core_Attachment>/monthly_2015_03/VampSet.jpg.59af34926023a39c1a3d5d0d76a9fc02.jpg" class="ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed" alt=""></a></p>

Hi guys. I'm away from tomorrow till Sunday, so I won't be online to reply for a couple of days. If I don't get to reply to the thread before then, then I can't wait to see what you guys have in store for when I get back. Bye for now (^.^)

Haven't had time for a long period as well, might post later this evening (It's noon here).

Sorry I didn't post, didn't realize how tired I was and fell asleep. Will probably post today.

Ah, well. Apparently not :( I am super-duper ultra-bultra busy lately and will be for no less than two weeks... Sorry. Just ignore my character's existence and I'll catch up when I get back.

I posted a reply before Syrena, so I'm not sure what else I can add as of yet. However I'll be happy to go again if I've simply gotten the order wrong, and if I have then my apologies!
