NICKNAMES 𓇬 aj ━ the name first was used by his friends in elementary school. as years went by, he came to realize how much he loved the name, how much it was him. ; addie ━ it's his mother's nickname for him, after she decided addison was too long and too formal. it's the name he went by for most of his childhood, in fact, his mom still uses it to this day. he absolutely hates it. ; a double j ━ aj gained the nickname when he first started working at the local hospital. it stems from his first name and middle name, and it became a running gag amongst coworkers. it even caught onto the patients, and now whenever aj's on his way to stop a bunch of kids from causing trouble, they yell: ‘it’s a double j!’

APPEARANCE 𓇬 aj is wholly unextraordinary. brown skin, 5'9", thin build. smooth skin, delicate fingers, supple in shape and movements. piercing eyes, quiet gaze. a steely figure that cuts like molten metal. quietly but with an unnerving precision. big eyes, both vulnerable and trusting, and determined as sharp glass.

has a smooth, delicate face, and dark skin with bluish undertones. has a calm aura, takes care of his appearance, but tries not to stand out.

throughout his life, aj's appearance hasn’t really changed. when younger, he had very soft, round features, which he never really lost as he aged. this often leads to people assuming he's much younger than he is as he became an adult. it seems to be a family thing as all of his family share.

the biggest change seemed to come from his teenage years. aj hit the stereotypical “awkward teen years” very hard. really bad acne. braces for crooked teeth that were charmingly awkward when he was younger but actually started causing problems when he got older. it got him a lot of bullying –– as if it isn’t a usual teen experience –– and aj's attempts to “fix” it failed hard. turns out all he needed to do was wait.

PERSONA 𓇬 aj has always been a bit of an extrovert. when he was younger he was a very cheerful child, always happy to talk your ear off about almost anything. everything caught his attention. everyone was his friend. it was impossible to keep him in one place.

over time, aj has calmed down a bit. he's grown exhausted with a life where his energy was never really put back into him. there's an underlying bitterness to his behavior, though he would never openly admit it. aj doesn’t admit a lot openly. it's almost second nature for him to keep everything inside, only letting negative feelings out in slight, subtle moments.

he hasn't lost his extroversion, though. aj is very much a people person. you would think he was an empath with how quickly he picks up on other people’s emotions (though don’t actually say that. aj is more likely to be offended than flattered, finding that whole concept stupid.) aj is the first to take change in any situation. he's jumped between a hundred different clubs and school groups, never really sticking to anything until it really fits him. he gains and loses interest pretty much on a whim.

and by “a whim”, i mean how well he’s doing at it. aj is a massive perfectionist. if he can’t do something well, he hates doing it. he’ll drop even things he enjoys just because it isn’t going how he likes. more than once he’s almost failed school projects because his need to be perfect led to him procrastinating to the last second. in aj's mind, if it isn’t going to benefit him, it isn’t worth doing.

despite this large amount of change, aj is in constant need for stability. change terrifies him and he struggles to cope with it. while he has the ability to work through it, aj will easily become irritable. especially when it’s a person screwing around and not working as well as aj thinks that should (he was a pain in the ass in group projects for this specific reason.)

a lot of this behavior comes from just…wanting to be noticed. since the age of four aj been defined not by his own achievements and behaviors, but by those of others. at some point, he's learned it's easier to be the little guy by pretending to be the bigger person. sure, he isn’t the nicest person. blunt, sarcastic, bitter–– often to the extent of rudeness –– and overly judgemental any time he’s put in charge. but he isn’t bad. at least, he’s not trying to be.

sports ━ aj has played various sports throughout his life. basketball ended up being his main one, however, especially since it lasted throughout his entire high school and college career. before his current job, he worked as a basketball couch for a kids' youth group.

cooking/baking ━ one of the various hobbies aj picked up through his life, which he continued due a combination of it being a useful life skill and having a calming effect to him. he’s especially fond of making artistic foods that, if not actually “fancy,” give off the same energy.

math/science ━ his best classes in school and college.

tricks ━ that is to say various “tricks” people can learn, such as yo-yo, magic, and knife tricks. pretty much anything that involves learning pretty much useless skills that are just used to be cool.

video games ━ call it his competitive spirit, but aj has a habit of picking up a game and not finishing it until he's collected every single achievement possible. this is, of course, more of a hobby for aj.

english ━ that is to say the class. it was fine before high school, but then they started trying to get him to interpret stuff and aj started getting frustrated. he’s used to having a “right” answer, and would often spend more time trying to figure out what answer the teacher wanted than actually interpreting the work (it didn’t help that, when he did apply his own ideas, it was suddenly “wrong” despite previously being told there was no wrong answers).

group work ━ aj always feels bitter about them because he feels like no one cares as much as he does.

being compared to others ━ even though it’s usually in a positive manner, because people tend to like him more than his mother or his family, it’s still a way people make his existence all about them.

the great outdoors ━ aj may be an active person, but it’s in a controlled environment. not outside, with bugs, and poison ivy, and copious chances for sunburn.

Appearance: You will catch her in nothing but D E S I G N E R. Off the rack? Blake doesn't even know what that means. From Chanel to Prada, to Versace and Hermes this fashionista demands nothing but the best in attire. She is the moment, okay? Her sense of style inspires others, she gets complimented constantly on her appearances, which she humbly takes while trying not to openly judge others for their appearance. She has perfectly manicured nails, hair is as soft and beautiful as it looks. Makeup is always on point. Daddy's credit card sure looked good on her until he decided to cut her off.

Personality: Blake had it all when she was younger. She was the captain of her high school's cheerleading squad and the most popular girl in school. Everyone thought she was well...kind of a bitch considering she never really saw those who weren't in her social circle but hey? Who did? Deep down, Blake doesn't mean to hurt anyone really. She's not as shallow as some people make her out to be. Does she like nice things? Yes! But those nice things are just some of the things that everyone else seems to love too! Beyond that, Blake is a fun-loving woman who enjoys having a good time. She's loyal to her friend group, loyal to those she holds close to her heart but if all of her life starts to fall apart she can be a bit...overly emotional.

The truth is, she hasn't really grown out of her small group of high school friends, hasn't grown out of that popular girl status, and now that she's been dumped by her partner, her "best friends" and now that her parents have cut her off, Blake feels lost. The once confident, beautiful girl who ruled the school has now been reduced to this woman who is unsure of where her future lies with nothing more than a few tangible items like clothes to hold onto. She's insecure, and emotional and has a hard time adjusting to change. But...she's determined. To not give up, and she won't.

He likes wearing those basic white t-shirts you get at walmart in packs of four. or a slim fit sweater, like those you typically see on a dad. Straight fitted jeans and runners or boots. He usually wears his crocs everywhere though! He is 6’0” with a toned body, which is worth nothing with his social skills. He couldn’t land a girl unless she was just like him or a fling… or desperate.
He takes his hygiene seriously, perhaps a little too seriously. He has a hard time being around messy or disorganized people since his mother was a neat freak. His skin is clear and his hair is clean. He doesn’t style his hair often, usually lets it dry and blow out, but hey, it’s clean.
Generally, he does his best to look presentable, by avoiding new styles. he doesn’t wear any jewelry or bracelets of any kind. He’s pretty lame in the fashion department and will typically wear polo’s as his formal t-shirt. He has a hidden thing for suits, but he never wears them because he is afraid of getting them dirty. He never realized how good he looks in a suit, and is more adamant on keeping them pressed and cleaned.

PERSONALITY
Ryan has ADHD. Something that is way too obvious most of the time, in fact, he doesn’t even try to hide it. But he is a kind and gentle soul and an amazing friend. He has a hard time making enemies because he literally can’t hold a grudge. If someone wrongs him, he’ll usually forget about it within a few hours.

• D&D — He likes D&D. He’s still learning the ropes, and as a noob, he’s been reading the players handbook quite a lot.
• Statues — Statues and figures. Not action figures though, he hates those ones with joints. He’s more into the detailed mini sculptures of anime and comic book characters. He’s kind of addicted to collection them.
• Comics — Doesn’t have a collection but owns a few Batman and Iron-man ones. He enjoys reading them on his free time.
• Anime — He’s not an anime enthusiast but he’d watch it more often if he had someone to talk about it with. He’s really into the most popular or well known anime shows.
• Gerard Butler — His favorite actor. Basically every movie is a staple for him, but 300 and Hunter Killer are his favorites.

• Empathetic — He has an amazing ability to comprehend people at their worst. His skills at making them feel better are unmatched. He’s the kind of company you want when you get laid off, stood up, bullied, or just about anything that would ruin your day.
• Generous — He is giving. So much so that even if he is struggling to pay his bills, he will first give to his friends before worrying about himself. Perhaps this isn’t a strength.
• Resourceful — He has a knack for making use of things most people wouldn’t find a use for. Sometimes it’s odd, other times it’s straight up clever!

• Socially Awkward — He’s not exactly socially awkward, because he doesn’t realize that he is. It’s more for the people that are hanging out with him. And elaborate jokes tend to go right over his head. He’s a book worm, not a social warrior.

Yeah I was a cute kid. ‘You don’t want him? Well you can just leave!’ Is what my mom said to dad as she stormed out of the house one day. So he did, dad walked out on us when I was 2 years old.”

• appearance—You know how pretentious tech entrepreneurs wear the same outfit everyday so they don't have to waste their precious braincells trying to decide what to wear? Melissa read that in an article and decided to apply the principle in her own life. Her wardrobe's entirely made up of simple minimalistic pieces in neutral shades that can easily be mixed and matched to create neat looking outfits with minimal effort. Typically seen wearing a t-shirt, sweater, or dress in shades of black, white, gray, and beige. The one hint of color in her wardrobe are her garish cartoon pajama pants, sometimes she would rather die than let anybody else see. She stands at an imposing 5'8, with added height when in heels which she typically is. Some say she enjoys towering over people. Others are liars.

  personality—There are two undeniable facts about Melissa. #1, When she knows what she wants, she'll find a way to get it. #2, Getting what she wants will come at the expense of everything else in her life. Despite priding herself on being sensible, literally anybody who knows her will tell her that she does everything in excess. If something is not an immediate stepping stone to achieving her goal, it literally does not matter to her when push comes to shove. This includes but is not limited to; friendships, mental health, and physical health. Chasing those goals provides a feeling of euphoria, a sense of being able to control her circumstances which she craved more than anything.
  
  While everybody else spent at least some time in their formative years learning how to bond and effectively communicate with one another, Melissa never got that experience and it shows. She never meant to be a disaster in her relationships, she just.....is. Her struggles with verbalizing her emotions or being able to comfor people have led to many a friendship and relationship crashing and burning before it ever really got started. Despite appearing somewhat cold, her failure to have any close relationships did sting her quite a bit. So she didn't let herself think about it. Always moving, always working, never thinking about what she had to give up to get there. She focused on her job wholeheartedly, both because she wanted to be great at what she did, and because she was scared to put herself out there in a non-professional setting.
  
  And that had worked well for her in most of her adult life. She pursued a career as a nurse and by all accounts was doing respectably. At least, she thought she was. See Melissa was bright, and had more knowledge of procedure than anybody else at her level. But that would only take her so far, given her atrocious bedside manner and inability to be comforting. So when the hospital began layoffs, it was almost inevitable that the nurse with the most patient complaints would be the first to go. Needless to say Melissa's been spiraling ever since. She was convinced she could find a new job soon, but her poor relationships with her boss and coworkers made it almost impossible to get recommendations. So for now she's been sitting around home doing absolutely nothing. And she hates it. Desperate to feel useful, she'll take on almost any task to pass the time, no matter how ridiculous.

Personality: He's usually introverted, but is not against interacting with people if he judges that he'd be able to connect with them properly. However, as that's a rare occurrence, he usually likes to be left alone to himself.
Likes: Going through information he can find on the internet (or a book) as a pass-time, experimenting with various electrical appliances.
Dislikes: The crowd, being put up on the center of a stage (both metaphorically and literally), and those who are really extroverted.
Strengths: He's good at building various instruments from scratch after dismantling them, and has a keen eye for detail.
Weakness: Ian doesn't work well when he's a deadline, and instead prefers to have a free hand.
Backstory: He was brought up by his mother after she had divorced her husband, and has two siblings. Katherine, who's a year older than him, and Natalia who's two years younger. He has never gotten along well with them with the exception of Natalia, who was rather affectionate towards him in childhood (although that had somewhat changed once they grew up).

As Katherine and he were polar opposites and seemed to have the best of everything, it had made him somewhat socially reluctant (his mother seemed to favour them instead of him, for they had somehow transpired to become the "golden children"). He spent a part of his childhood either going through manuals on how he could create specific instruments, and in interacting with the very close friends that he did have.
