Backstory: Ian was born to a heavily militaristic households with high expectations of him. He did his to impress his renowned war hero father, but he just wasn't grasping it. Never aloud to have a child hood, Ian began to rebel, which lead to harsh beatings. Using his fame as a tool to get free things from their neighborhood, Ian's father would often drink expensive wine in large increments. One day in a drunken stupor, Ian received a beating that was harsher than usual. When his mother attempted to intervene, Ian's father turned his rage to her. Unable to watch his mother get beaten, Ian attacked his father and beat him to death with his bare hands. Too ashamed to look his mother in the eye after what he'd done, Ian ran away from home, living in the wilds for a few months before being taken in by an isolated old wizard. This wizard took Ian on as an apprentice and taught him not only how to cast spells, but how to survive. It was this collection of survival skills that allowed Ian to thrive as a sell sword. While he may drift from region to region, Ian always takes time to send his mother money and letters that keep her updated on his status.
