Hyperion, Prince of the Solar Throne
Hyperion, Prince of the Solar Throne
Username : @Maven
Name : Hyperion Sebastien Alexander
Introduction: A Prince of the Solar Throne, Son the Emperor and Empress of the Imperial Dominion of the Solar Empire. Grieving for the last two years over the loss of his sister in a failed assassination attempt on his life, and the loss of his best friend and lover the son of the Duke of Venetica, Hyperion is recovering, alone, and scared that that future that awaits him is a continuation of the prison he has felt as if he was in since birth. Truthfully he wishes for a Knight in shinning armor to save him, he doesn't care about rank, about birth or anything so long as they love him, for him and not for his title. Nothing fake, nothing wrong, nothing that would hurt him. His heart is not on his sleeve but in a safe, a bunker beneath layers of nerves and depression. A smile that used to grace his soft lips now has faded into a memory of a past time. A time when things seemed alright. The Prince of the Solar Throne is alone and needs a light at the end of the tunnel. Will you be that light?
Appearance:
Age: 18 (Birthday is January 31st)
Height: 6'0''
Weight: 143lbs.
Gender : Male
Typical Formal Wear: Typically if it is a formal occasion Hyperion will don either a tux, a suit or his military uniform bearing his insignia of rank. Events that call for these are formal dinners, balls, galas, soirees, or charity events. Sometimes a political campaign fundraising event, or funerals and weddings are also things that are acceptable for Hyperion to wear such clothing. Though he does harbor an appreciation for the finer things in life in terms of fashion and as such does enjoy wearing semi-casual suits out and about while in public and sometimes even his military uniform.
Typical Casual Wear: Now unlike for most normal people, Hyperion actually likes to look mostly his best all the time, and that means even when lounging around in the palace, or in a hotel room, in any situation where he doesn't have to look great, he likes to anyways. A nice polo and some nice shorts with Sperry's or maybe a casual suit. With his hair he will style it like he always does though and not anything particularly special. His siblings always joke that he hates being dressed down, of course Hyperion simply responds that one must always look their best, even in a private setting.
Typical Outerwear: This for Hyperion is the same as his Casual Wear section. A nice casual suit, maybe his military uniform. Really it will heavily depend on where he is going, and what he plans on doing. If it is just walking around and the temperature is agreeable then it will be a nicer thing of clothing, pants, long sleeve shirt or his uniform. If the weather is too warm for such things then it will likely consist of a nice pair of shorts and either a polo or button down shirt. Come winter this will get quite the deal heavier.
Favourite Colour : Sapphire Blue
Favorite Thing to Do : Hyperion's favorite thing to do would likely be simply walking around the gardens of the Amalfi Estate which he has had designed and cared for by only the best. Any other time, when Hyperion isn't at the Estate it would easily be going and getting ice cream.
Least Favorite Thing to Do : Having to give a speech about something he doesn't actually support but the "throne" does. Various matters from possible war with some nations, to the condemnation of the critics of the monarchy, Hyperion wants a more open, fair and free nation but sometimes the politics of the matter are "too complicated" to allow him to voice his own opinion because, his own opinion doesn't exist officially.
Favorite Place to Vacation: A private estate owned by his family on the Amalfi Coast. The Estate is sitting on the cliffs overlooking the coastal beach just below and the Tyrhennian Sea beyond. Built in classical Roman architecture centered around an open courtyard, with columns surrounding and beautiful mosaics throughout it is easier to call the Estate a Villa than a modern place. There aren't many modern day conveniences in the Estate per the request of Hyperion as he officially owns it, not the Emperor and not the Government. Here is the ultimate retreat within a nice distance to the hustle and bustle of home.
Personality: Hyperion at one point was an outgoing, friendly person hell bent on getting people to smile and sometimes to laugh. A smile graced his lips as if it was never going to leave, not one that was forced like so many in his position but a truly genuine smile that seemed to be rather infectious towards other people. He was still shy, don't get me wrong, he was not one to willingly hop onto a stage and give some rousing speech or to simply walk up to people he didn't know and introduce himself. He would if told to, but it would not be something he particularly enjoyed doing, new things tended to make him nervous and to scare him ever so slightly.
Things in his life changed his positive outlook though. The smile faded into memory, and the death of two people very close and very dear to Hyperion made things ultimately take a darker tone. He doesn't really smile now, not genuinely. Well he does only when talking to children but not really to adults. Things that used to make him happy, like walking through the gardens of his estate on the Amalfi coast only make him sad. Vacationing doesn't seem to help much either. In fact most things now seem to only make matters worse and he has not had the will to make another friend, fearing that he will lose them like he lose William. His shyness is worse than it once was, but public functions he can still pull off fairly well. While the public mourns with him and support him, Hyperion can't help but feel ever so alone.

Bio:
Young Life:
Being raised in the Imperial Family of Solyria is a difficult thing that only a handful of other Royals and Imperials around the world could even begin to grasp. As the first heir born to the Emperor that meant that Hyperion regardless of his choices in life would sit atop the Solar Throne, lest he opt to abdicate a year later. The pressure of having to always do well in school, at public events and even at home was more than rough for a young boy. The constant harassment by the paparazzi was annoying to say the least and on more than one occasion had nearly caused wrecks. Since his youth though the press has been made to sign agreements giving the young heir and indeed the entire Imperial Family a good amount of space so as to allow them more privacy than they had once been grappling with. Most of these young years Hyperion spent moving from Estate to Estate before his parents finally sent him off to the Imperial Academy in the Swiss Alps to start his schooling well away from the public eye.
Teenage Years:
Come his teenage years things seemed to become more... interesting if you will. Over his years at the Imperial Academy, the premier boarding school for the nobility and for some foreign royals, Hyperion made quick friends with one noble's son, William the son of the Duke of Venetica, one of the most powerful nobles in all of Solyria. Friends wouldn't begin to touch on the bond that formed between the two. It had been extremely difficult for Hyperion to make friends, the other kids were too intimidated by his title, he was, at least for most of the others, their future ruler. William however had seized the opportunity and tried to be nice and become friends with him, not at the urging of his father or anyone, just a feeling to get close to Hyperion. The pair were nearly inseparable. They traveled on holiday together, sometimes holidays were spent either with the Imperial Family or with William's, a great honor for William's family as the Emperor and Empress expressed their gratitude that the Duke's son had given something to Hyperion that they couldn't, a friend. Their gratitude came in the form of appointments, endorsements and even in a couple extra titles for the Duke and his family to enjoy.
Back at the Imperial Academy the pair grew,
close
. Youthful enthusiasm gave way to some kinds of experimentation with one another. William and Hyperion had been playing twenty questions with one another when William asked if Hyperion actually liked girls or guys and when he said guys, William kissed his cheek quickly before darting out of the room and to his own. A couple weeks and the pair didn't talk until William apologized, only to be met with a shy as all hell kiss by Hyperion. It took a few months but it did eventually move into some make out sessions only to give way to more. Nobody knew. On the outside the pair were as straight as their families could possibly want, least until William opted to start telling people that he wasn't straight but instead gay. The public went crazy in support but William's father didn't. He was removed from his father's succession and given an estate on the Amalfi coast. It took a lot of convincing from his mother and from Hyperion to force his father to allow William to stay with the Imperial Family, a move that only bolstered the Imperial Family's support both politically and publicly.
The two continued to
enjoy
one another's company for some time until rumors began to swirl that they were in fact involved with one another. The public once again supported them in their decisions but politically true or not it wasn't acceptable. William was more or less exiled to his estate while Hyperion was forced to continue staying at the Imperial Academy. It was only a few months before a messenger arrived at the Academy informing Hyperion that William had taken his own life, leaving his Estate (Villa) and all that it was to Hyperion, not the throne as was customary but to Hyperion his
greatest love
. Depression and anger seeped into his once joyful personality, this unfortunately was compounded when a far left wing group planted a bomb on a road as Hyperion's motorcade was progressing. It detonated early killing Hyperion's sister, the Princess Titania, second in line for the throne. Her limousine had been directly on top of it and doctors said she wouldn't have felt a thing. This only compounded his depression.
Last Couple Years:
The last couple years since the twin losses of William and Titania have been dark. Public support for the Prince is still very high even though he hasn't come out or declined the idea of being homosexual. His parents now know as do his siblings. He had to tell them to get them to stop asking or hinting at it at every turn. Ever since the death of William, Hyperion hasn't really smiled and it is blatantly obvious they were more than just simple friends. Sure some would play it off as life friends others who were smart though would understand they were definitely lovers, very close and very attached to one another. The death of his sister only added to the depression and at the resulting state funeral it was a sorry sight to see everyone in such a poor mood, Titania would have preferred something more...
cheery
as a going away rather than a final solemn goodbye. Now? Now Hyperion just moves through the rhythm of his last year at the Imperial Academy, balancing vacations, state functions and the rare time when he is sent abroad to conduct various kinds of things from diplomacy to charity. A life in the chains of depression is what his mother says, though never to him.
