Hunter Cael

Hunter Cael

Name: Hunter Cael

Alias: "Iron Fist" Cael

Age: 30

Race: Dorogan

Gender: Male

Occupation: Smuggler/Pilot

Home world: Though Hunter is a Dorogan; his home world is the quiet world of Queis 6. A small and isolated planet with 3 moons, it is primarily a farming planet. The major export for the planet is their Uaccam, a large herbivore roughly the size of an elephant. They are farmed for their meat and milk, and are extremely docile unless provoked when they have young. The planet is sectioned off into large areas for the Uaccam to graze with small homesteads for the farmers to live in. There is one major port for the planet, and it rarely receives any inward bound ships. The only time that the port becomes a bit more bustling, is when it’s time to sell Uaccam. The planet's population is roughly around 1000 farmers and their families, with only the southern end of the planet uninhabited. The Night Woods line the southern border of the farm lands, filled with the one predator of the Uaccam, Grex hunters. Not even close to the size of a Uaccam, the Grex are about the size of large dogs, and hunt in packs to take down Uaccam to feed their packs. Farmers are constantly fending of Grex attacks.

Appearance: Hunter is on the larger side of the Dorogan spectrum. A solid wall of muscle from years of working on his parent’s farm, he can be a bit of an intimidating sight for many of his own race. Long dirty blonde hair covers a scarred face that can sometimes look as if it’s stuck in a permanent gaze. Usually dressed in a pair of blue jeans, with an older style of Grungair chest armor, his most defining features are the missing limbs. His right leg, and left arm, have both been missing for some time. But the leg is of an older model that almost seems homemade. The arm is made of Dorogan steel and workmanship.

Personality: Hunter is a very stoic personality. He doesn't like asking for help, and as a mercenary of high caliber, he usually does not provide it. When it comes to his job, he usually only asks two questions; where the target is, and how much. He takes is jobs very seriously, and even though he uses a bit outdated equipment, he is not to be taken lightly.

Equipment: Hunter keeps a long range Xarta plasma rifle handy at all times on his back. He also carries an old 6 shot Orbis Energy Pistol at his hip. The only other weapon he likes to have at all times is an Anacit hunting blade, for when bullets run out.

Special skills: Hunter has hunting and tracking skills from years of fighting off Grex on Queis 6. It does better on solid surfaces like dirt or gravel, but can do decently at marsh and sand if he focuses. He's a hell of a pilot, learning how to drive large machinery at a young age and then carrying on that experience flying for the Empire. He's had to learn how to repair, maintain, and "jerry rig" dozens of different ships and equipment to last, making him pretty resourceful when it comes to fixing things. He's not a bad shot. He's not the best shot in the galaxy, but he can at least hit a target 9 outta 10 times with his pistol and rifle.

Racial Trait: The number one trait that the Dorogan race is known for is their amazing healing abilities. Their accelerated healing allows them to take a good deal of damage while still being able to fight on. As long as the affected area is still attached, their healing factor will kick in and keep them from bleeding out.

Bio:

Hunter's story starts 30 years ago when his parents were flying from the Dorogan home planet to a system closer to the outer rim where they planned to settle down. Hunter's mother, on the verge of being a mother at any time, had been refused to fly on Imperial shuttles do to her lateness in the pregnancy. So they scheduled transportation on a cargo ship heading for their designated planet. However, they were never destined to reach their destination. Pirates overtook the ship, seeking anything they could get their hands on to sell. When they found the couple, Hunter's father fended off the pirates long enough for his mother to board an escape pod and launch towards the planet of Queis 6.

The pod landed in a massive open field full of Uaccam, causing quite a panic in the herd. This brought the attention of the farmer who tended to the heard and he quickly made for the smoke he saw out in his field. A short and stubby resident of Queis, he reached the pod only to find a dismal scene. Hunter's mother had died, but only moments after Hunter was born in the pod. The farmer looked up to where the pod had fallen to see an explosion of a ship and realized that whatever family this little one was likely to have, was gone now. The farmer took Hunter to his wife and explained the situation, only to return later to bury his mother.

Hunter grew up to be a fine farmer. When he was ten, he was taller than many of the Queisite farmers and their ten year olds. He was stronger too, making him invaluable to his adoptive parents growing up. He learned all about Uaccam and how to raise them. He learned about the Grex and out to hunt them down to keep them from getting to the Uaccam. When he was sixteen, hunter's boldness got the better of him, and rallying a small group of young Queisite teenagers, he decided to take the fight to the Grex in The Night Woods. This proved to be a poor decision, as Hunter and half the boys who went in reemerged bloodied and beaten. Hunter had gotten the worst of it, losing his leg as he tried to rescue as many of the others as he could. Hunter survived and used what little money he had to buy a prosthetic leg so he could continue working.

At the age of twenty, Hunter decided he wanted to join the Galactic Dorogan Empire's Star Fleet. Doubtful that their son would be allowed to join with an injury like his leg, they tried to sway his decision but were always met with his determination and stubbornness. Eventually, they gave in, and hunter entered into the academy. Surprisingly, the academy accepted him into the pilot program, as pilots typically didn't need leg to operate a ship. He trained for five years, learning everything he could from the Empires mechanics and older pilots. At the end of his five years, he was assigned to a patrol ship and designated to one of the inner planets. Along with his new station, he was given a team of responders that would fly in the ship with him and respond to situations on the ground. On the patrol team was Kayla Turgan, a young and cheerful Dorogan who took an instant liking to Hunter. Their time together wasn't very long, and during the pair became extremely close. But during a call to a disturbance in the city, a riot broke out and Kayla was killed in action. Hunter watched as Empire's forces began killing civilians left and right for their acts of violence. It grew and grew until nearly half the planet was up in arms and fighting. Hunter, who had long since abandoned his ship to join the fighting, was forced to kill civilians in the name of the Empire for several days before the Empires reinforcements crashed on the civilian planet like a wave on sand.

When all was quiet once more, Hunter was sent to Dorogan to receive medical treatment for yet another missing limb. After removing the arm and fitting him with a Dorogan prosthetic, he was awarded a medal and compensation for his devotion during the battle. But the fighting and killing had broken something in Hunter and he was never the same again. Hunter left the Empire and bought a ship with the money he had. He couldn't go home to his family, knowing that he was a murderer, but he would not work for the Empire ever again after what he saw them do. For five years Hunter flew across the galaxy taking jobs that were less than favorable in the eyes of the Empire.
