CHARACTER RULES
This is a sci-fi western roleplay. Sci-fi is the setting but aesthetically is taking a back seat. We highly recommend making your character somewhat western-y, if possible, but go all out on genre twists if you'd like! Check the GM and Approved Character Sheets for references.
Cyborgs, AI, Androids etc. are all allowed for your OC, but look into the lore regarding such beings before getting too committed on your CS (Lore posts will be added soon).
Your human can be biologically altered! Just nothing OP. Ex. You want gold-toned eyes? Cool! You want them to be able to see in pure darkness? Probably okay, but p l e a s e message the GM.
You want a tragic backstory, GO FOR IT, but don’t make it intersect with another player’s backstory unless you talk with them, and us, first.
NO characters under the age of 21.
NO secrets from the DM! I do not want to be surprised by your secret arm canon or telekinetic abilities 4 pages into the RP.
Use the format for CS provided.
See the game rules in the interest check before posting. By posting, you agree to these rules.
Your CS may be rejected for any reason the GM and Co-GM deem reasonable. We don’t have to let you modify it if we do not wish to.
This is a high-interaction RP. Make your character interactable. If it is a character that will spend all day in the corner of their room, they will not see much interaction and will probably barely be active in the roleplay. If this is how we read your CS, we will talk to you about possible changes and ways we can work it out.
Check GM and Co-GM character sheets for guidance if needed.
Bottom line, if you have any questions or concerns, DM me, Dragongal Dragongal , or co-GM Solar Daddy Solar Daddy for details.

Everett is more worn than in the picture - his once raven hair is now lightly peppered with bits of early gray from stress. He’s typically fairly well-dressed, with his signature trench coat having special kevlar in the inside of the left sleeve and left breast that gives the fabric a pretty indistibguishable stiffness when it moves. He wears the semi-formal clothes most of the time as it gives an air of authority that tends to come in handy in his experience - especially when running across other System officers of rank. Also, by taking off the trench coat and making minor adjustments, he can easily look like he didn’t just step back in from the worst crime scene this side of the milky way. He wears heavy boots for the varying terrains he gets himself stuck in, and if they’re going into something dangerous, he’ll pull on a kevlar vest.

Species: 100% human
Age: 32
Weight: 180
Height: 6’3”

PERSONALITY
He might come off as a jackass, and while he is, Everett is also the first to pull someone aside and check that they’re okay. He notices everything no matter how small, which can help him to pick up lies and secrets, even the innocent kind. He firmly believes that nobody should be forgotten like an abandoned cold case. His experience as a detective is a double-edged sword. On the one hand, he can be a charismatic con-man who oretends to work well with groups. On the other hand, though, he’s developed some poor coping habits for the constant stress of the job. These include some OCD-like tendencies and alcohol and stimulant abuse depending on the level of stress. Most of the time he can keep his dysfunctional habits private and hidden. His most common one is going days on minimal sleep or less while working on time-sensitive cases. He also keeps multiple files of every unsolved case, each file increasingly detailed - and correspondingly increasingly coded.

Positive Traits
Observant
Charming
Intelligent

Negative Traits
Stressed
Snarky
Mixed-up Priorities

SKILLS

Subtle Interrogator
Always the charmer, Everett is quick to strike up conversation and get people talking. If he’s lucky, he can convince people to address him as a friend.

Keen Eye
Everett’s main skill is noticing things. He notices excessively tiny details constantly, but this can become overwhelming at times. He also has been known to be so distracted by a theory running through his head that he just walks away from his group to examine a piece of evidence.

Experience
Everett has been solving murders and missing person’s cases for over 10 years. He holds a record number of cold cases solved and specializes in missing persons cases. He has to work with kids more often than he likes, and he's surprisingly good at it. His experience has given him some solid experience in legal matters. He’s incredibly observant, and quick to see connections that may be intentionally hidden. This also means he is very good at hiding things himself.

Protective Trench Coat
Gas-Powered Semi-Automatic Handgun
Sliver - A robotic bloodhound trained to respond to Everett's commands. It's relatively smart on its own, approximately a level 1 AI.
Break action single shot shotgun (Emergency use)
Kevlar Vest
Custom Locked Datapad
(2x) RigidCuffs

BACKSTORY
Everett was born on Mars. His father was a lawyer, and his mother is still an information officer for the government. His family was relatively happy, and Everett had planned on training AI dogs for police use until he was 14 and tragedy struck, leading him to decide to become a homicide detective. With all his wit and spite, it was enough to pass all of the tests with flying colors while he ignored any tolls the stress would take on him.
As a top candidate, Everett got to skip the modern 7+ years as a police officer. At 18, he joined the System’s homicide detective training program, a rigorous accelerated training program designed to produce the best detectives for the System. He passed with flying colors and a bit of cheating and quickly earned a name for himself - both for his skill at cracking cold cases, and for disregarding orders. As a PI hired by the System, he’s allowed to take cases that the System doesn’t - but when they send him somewhere, he has to go. And hey, he’s jumped from Earth to the moon to Mars to Jupiter - there’s got to be lots of lost people out in the farthest reaches of the system.

DELicious 3 noncannibal.pngDel 2 flat.png

Species
Human

Age
31

Weight
145lb (65kg)

Height
5’8” (173cm)

PERSONALITY
Dependable but distractable, it truly depends on the situation to measure how much attention Del may be paying to the events going on around him. While working on something highly serious, surrounded by those he cares about, nothing will keep him from dedicating himself entirely to his occupation, but if he is more relaxed he may simply forget to answer a question you asked him five minutes ago. Family is his overall aspiration, rather than acquiring some half-meat-half-cybernetic body or travelling to every planet colonised, as are the dreams of many others he has met over the years. He is not cruel, but can be cunning, especially in dire situations. He tries to keep his actions from harming those who do not deserve it, and would rather lie to a corporation than sacrifice a bystander.

Positive traits
(at least 3)
  • Although he may panic at times, once he forces himself to calm down, he is competent under pressure and can analyse an ugly situation. He uses even limited knowledge of other areas of study or practicality to offer suggestions or spur others into action.
  • Very good at what he does best. Due to being a bit of a bloody coward, Del is extremely careful with explosives. Trained on-the-job in a series of mines on Venus as a demolitions man – with a minor role in the analysis of surrounding environmental chemicals – Del experienced a steep learning curve. He has since learned as much theory as possible and trained properly.
  • Personable and supportive. Although at first meeting he may not seem like the type to whom you would tell your problems, he often proves himself to be a good and supportive friend. The only string attached is you’re gonna have to support him, too.
Negative Traits
(at least 3)
  • An idealist. Despite all he has experienced and learned over 31 years, Del holds onto some idealistic notion in his head of how things should be, and how he can make things become. If presented with two ugly answers to one complex problem, he may blow his resources, time and effort into pursuing a third, fourth or fifth answer that results in the most favourable outcome he can. While some might see this as a positive thing, it is unwise to be so bright-eyed when faced with a looming world.
  • Sometimes if a situation calls for a mad effort or time is not of the essence, Del may be less careful with explosives and may try techniques he has only read about and not been able to test (either through not being brave enough or not having the resources). You’ll have to put some faith into his own high degree of knowledge of explosives if this happens, and hope for the best.
  • Although usually a very moral gentleman who agrees and knows that certain actions are wrong, Del would bend a few rules if it meant getting his hands on a piece of tech or kit he was curious about.
SKILLS
(preferably at least 3 skills with descriptions)

- Engineering. Del has been working on tech since he was a lad. Del learned to love engineering from his maintenance of machines, and prefers to learn practically than by memorising and practicing theory. Of course, he is diligent in his studies anyway (sometimes).

- Explosives. Building off his Engineering ability, Del showed some decent promise with explosives when he ended up on Venus. Although he lacked formal training, it was enough for his employers who assigned him the role when he began his mining career. It is worth noting that he takes extreme precaution around explosives.

- Basic medical training. Owing to his own terror of death, Del took on basic medical training. He is by no means a field medic or surgeon but knows triage and how to take care of the wounds of humans or animals with minimal resources. He’s a good backup, if nothing else.

EQUIPMENT
(Nothing over-the-top. If you have too many weapons, the GMs will ask you to parse it down.)

Compact tool box – Just the essentials, for field work
Explosives Case – Kind of what it says on the tin, y’know? Dynamite, gunpowder, shrapnel bombs, a spool of fusing. All kept in a very safe, durable kit box.
Bulletproof poncho – His old ranch poncho, revamped by himself, to have several compact layers of bulletproof material. It’s a bit ragged but pretty warm.
Cowboy hat with plating – As with his poncho, he’s made the hat into more of a helmet. Just in case something decides to fall on his ever-so-precious brain.
‘Winchester’ Rifle – Not actually a Winchester, but looks and acts like one. It’s been pulled apart and put back together several times, all for the purposes of ‘improvement’. It has a small red piece of cloth tied around the barrel.
Basic medical pack – Just the essentials. Maybe a small flask of alcohol (that’s definitely for wound sterilisation and not for drinking…)

CHARACTER CONNECTIONS
Everett – Del’s parole officer. Seems to tolerate him, though Del is sure Everett has become somewhat fond of him, as much as a parole officer can enjoy the company of the man he is meant to be keeping an eye on.

BACKSTORY
(at least 2 paragraphs minimum)

So, how did an otherwise decent man like Del end up with a parole officer? Answering that question requires us to look back at Venus, where Del was set up with other miners to do difficult labour. He worked well with the team, did what he was told and gave the occasional order if necessary, but otherwise carried on a physically difficult but otherwise decent job. One unfortunate day though, a tremor caused a part of one of the mines to begin collapsing, killing several other miners. This turned the neat little outpost of workers-turned-mates into a panicked flock, but ultimately very little could be done. A major mine had become severely unstable, which resulted in the outpost receiving fewer funds due to very slow progress and prioritising recovering those who had died, an effort that took months of planning. The mine had to be stabilised which ate through resources, and the uninjured workers had to become makeshift rescuers. The outpost needed more funds to keep itself going, to avoid being cut off by the company, so they turned to some illegal methods. Del played a major role in this part of the operation: since he was the demolitions guy, he lacked the strength to be useful in efforts to recover victims and secure the mine, so his brains were put to action instead.

The most lucrative method was selling unprocessed ores illegally and underhandedly in bulk to ship-building organisations who offered the highest sum for the materials. This saved the community time and money, since unprocessed ores could be extracted easily from stable mines and immediately prepared for delivery, rather than having to go through the lengthy process of purification the company required. So Del split the streams: small amounts of processed ore would go to the company to tide them over, and the bulk would go to the ship-building organisations for a chunk of much-needed currency.

Because of his major role in the illegal shipping of unprocessed ore, Del was up to receive a larger punishment than some others in the community when the operation was discovered and traced back. However, due to his considerable skill in other areas – and the clear signs he was not some criminal overlord who would re-establish his empire if he was not kept in prison – it was decided that, instead of sitting in a jail cell, he would repay his debt to society another way. Del jumped at the opportunity, eager to right his wrongs, and has since found himself in the always-present company of his parole officer Everett on bounty-hunting missions.

MISC
Although not typically into spooky things, Del is fascinated by Voiders. He has never managed to get to know one well enough to interact with it, but he has immense respect for them and would love to develop a relationship with one or a colony of them.

Age: unknow maybe a few hundred years?
Weight: a few tons
Height: ten meters (his core that is)

PERSONALITY
Core personality these days is that of a worried fellow decommissioning did a number on his self confidence now constantly doubting himself he feels like he's worthless and doesn't know why he was decommissioned but, his core Directives push him to keep trying to uphold the law and fond out what happend to him leaving core in a wierd position of wanting to quit but he can't

Positive traits
Encourages others
Fairly wise (just on history stuff)
Good listener
Negative Traits
Cowardly
Lacks self confidence
Self destructive mindset
SKILLS
Long memory- being a huge ancient AI has its perks such as long memory
Machine override- with some time and effort, core can take over tech that isn't inheritly part of his network or relink old bots, newer technologies arnt compatible tho and he can't take them over.
Multi tasking- basically he was designed to do hundreds of things at once

EQUIPMENT
Big ironsx15- old combat/law enforcement bots used by core to get around.

BACKSTORY
C.O.R.E’s story is a long one, and if anything has affected many places greatly. For core’s original purpose was to serve as planets centralised fully autonomous drone based law enforcement system originally consisting of three classes of drone the tiny hat like hovering “deitos” designed for small arrests and surveillance, hulking walking tanks knowns a thumper only brought out if a extreme show of force or quelling some rebellion was needed. And the ubiquitous “Big iron’s” creepy hound like drones that stalked the landscapes of Pluto and preformed most laws enforcement tasks The system worked wonders for a time till complains about the inhuman nature of the big irons, new smaller humanoid robots called deps where added an eclectic mix of combat bots that where well armed but able to act rather human and fit into human places. Still complains continued and most bots where retrofitted with hologram projectors to Give CORE a true human “figure” to work act as its representative. Whatever happened after that is a mystery but Core along with its drones where decommissioned eventually it’s main body a titanic building sized fort/server now lays buried somewhere in the wastes of some frontier and dotting the landscape buried by time and dust collections of hundreds of drones mostly big irons lay dormant and wasting away thier resilient alloy weapons and components all highly prized enough that their are those known as drone prospectors that spend thier lives searching for these dumps to disassemble refurbish and sell parts or even repurposed drones. All look for some legendary find or even CORE’s central command structure.

What of Core itself? The once proud and confident AI after many years left dormant and just alone along with its decline to obsolesces that even it doesn’t really understand .

NAME:
Soleil Lyon

NICKNAME(S):
Lyon, Sol

APPEARANCE:

Soleil Image 1.pngSoleil Image 2.png

Soleil looks older now, her work experience showing more on her face as she tends to smile less than she used to. Typically, she’s dressed pretty practically for her line of work. Her go-to is wearing dark blue or black scrubs, especially when there is the chance that she may end up covered in someone else’s blood. Unfortunately for her, though she likes the opportunity to dress more formally, the chances of getting coated are high enough to rarely justify not wearing scrubs or her official uniform. Her official uniform includes a set of scrubs, patches on the chest and arm denoting her affiliations and certified status, with the addition of a Kevlar vest and helmet as required when entering a danger zone.

Species: 100% Human
Age: 27
Weight: 128
Height: 5’ 5”

PERSONALITY:

If you’ve ever heard of someone being described as a ‘mom-friend’, then you’ve heard about Soleil. She is incredibly protective over people she’s charged with taking care of (and in her line of work, that means pretty much everyone). However, just like a parent, she’s not afraid to chastise and berate a person for doing something reckless while cleaning and bandaging their wounds. Of course, not that that ever stops her from throwing herself into danger to help someone else. To those that meet her, and her skills are not needed, she is kind and professional. To those that have needed her care, she’s viewed as firm but fair. To those that know her well, she’s both but with added touches of sarcasm, playfulness, and quick-wit. She strives to maintain a good head on her shoulders and be a pillar of strength to those that need her, whether they believe that they need her or not is irrelevant. She’s someone that, despite her younger age, has surprisingly sound advice and always appreciates the opportunity to help someone with their problems. To this end though, she does have a tendency to stretch herself thin and leave self-care as the last thing on her to-do list. Thus, there is the risk of coming across her at her worst and receiving quite the tongue-lashing for your troubles when she does snap. Unless you’re threatening her charges, then you’ll find yourself at the business end of, well, just about any weapon she can get her hands on.

Positive Traits:
Protective
Level-headed
Considerate

Negative Traits:
Overly critical
Nosy
Self-sacrificing

SKILLS:

Field Medicine: Soleil has been patching people up (herself included) for the past 15 years, only the past 5 years being post-EMT training. Used to not having much medical equipment around, she is well-versed in finding work-arounds while in the field.

Hand-to-Hand: Soleil has trained to become skilled enough to defend herself in hand-to-hand combat in danger zones, and she’s not too shabby with a knife (or scalpel as the case may be).

Pharmaceutical Knowledge: Between her studies and her real-world experience in her home colony, Soleil is quite adept at recognizing both medical and recreational drugs. If given a drug, within 3 hours she is usually able to identify it. If presented with a person, she is quite adept at narrowing down the classification of drug a person is on.

EQUIPMENT:

Kevlar Vest

System-approved Protective Helmet
- Per safety regulations, a helmet worn in danger zones while evacuating and treating those that need medical care.

Medical Backpack- A more extensive than most medical kit. Contains everything from bandages to sutures, scalpels to a blood pressure cuff. Even includes some higher-grade medications (ie prescription-strength ibuprofen or acetaminophen).

Camping Knife- Serves as a means of protection, general tool, and a medical tool in a pinch.

Gas-powered Semi-Automatic Pistol- Standard issue, only meant to be used in self-defense

BACKSTORY:

Born on Ganymede, Soleil grew up with an arguably happy family, her father running a small general store and her mother operated a daycare/early learning opportunity for the other children of the colony. She spent a lot of time running around in the wilder areas of her home with a lot of the younger kids her mother watched following after. As such, she started to take on an older sister and protector role for the kids and she wanted to make sure that everyone stayed safe (even if part of her motivation was so that she didn’t get in trouble). So, to keep everyone safer, she asked her mother to teach her how to patch up any small scrape that she or the others might get while out exploring.

After she started patching people up with relative ease, she enjoyed being able to help people in that way. She finished up her schooling and for two years helped her father out at his store, all while saving up to start training to be an EMT. When she was 20, she moved to Venus to finally pursue that dream and spent two more years studying, working in the field, and undergoing her probationary period. During this time, she managed to set herself apart in her willingness to go into danger to help others. Since then, she’s been throwing herself into her work, going wherever the System finds her talents necessary.

CARL HIGGINS, TRACKING SPECIALIST
Forward Interdiction, Security & Tactics (FIST) Unit

Species: HumanCS Higgins Face.png
Age: 34
Weight: 91kg/200lbs
Height: 184cm/6ft 7in

PERSONALITY:

A team-player at heart, Carl Higgins is a member of the System's External Security Forces Division (ExSecForDiv). Because of his long record of service he has a tendency to speak with both military slang and jargon. Towards outsiders or newcomers he might come across as stern and introvert but in reality Carl is merely guarded and selective of those he accepts into his life, professional and otherwise.

Currently Carl has been temporarily reassigned to the Auxiliary Security Division (AuxSecDiv) to aid with locating and capturing high-value bounties whenever possible. This reassignment was met with contempt from Carl, as he was due for promotion and because the reassignment has separated Carl from his team at FIST.

Thus he is currently expecting to be assigned to a group of civilian yahoos that lack his own level of discipline and experience.

Positive Traits
Hard-working
Keen-eyed
Loyal

Negative Traits
Introvert
Condescending
Stubborn

SKILLS:

Tracking Specialist - Carl has years of experience tracking and pursuing suspects, either with a K9, drones or by himself through most types of terrain and weather conditions. Given enough time he can find most.
Survivalist - A deep-seated interest for the wilderness paired with his work has made Carl adept at surviving deep into hostile wilderness for prolonged durations.
Tactical Training - With both military and law enforcement background Carl knows his way around tactical maneuvers, various firearms and more.

EQUIPMENT:

- 1x Ares Inc. Tactical Carbine, 5.56mm Hollow-Point Caseless
- 1x Jakob & Söner Vektor Handgun, 45. ACP, FIST-engraving on the slide
- Spare ammunition and magazines
- Weapon maintenance kit
- Encrypted communications equipment, ExSecForDiv-standard
- Thermal retention clothing/uniform
- Individual First-Aid Kit (IFAK)

CS Higgins Body.pngBACKSTORY:

Hailing from Earth, Carl grew up in North America and spent most of his early years outdoors alongside his mother who worked as a park ranger at a large national park.

When he came of age Carl joined the Systems IntSecForDiv, graduating as a Force Recon specialist trained to combat threats on the frontier. Seeing limited action Carl eventually transferred to ExSecForDiv where he clashed with pirates, bandits and corporate hit-squads on an ever-growing frontier.

It was here where he'd be roped into the ranks of the newly started FIST- a consolidated military and police venture which adopted a more direct hands-on approach towards rampant smuggling and racketeering operations.

Already greatly experienced, Carl would serve with FIST as one of its lead scouts and tracking experts. Utilizing AI-powered K9 units, drones and his own five senses to track down some of the most dangerous and organized pirates to date in numerous raids.

Serving with distinction, Carl was bound for a promotion when he was abruptly transferred from FIST to help the Systems auxiliary security forces. Rather than view it as another way to pave a path to good, Carl sees the whole thing as a punishment.

BACKSTORY
"But the Solar System is so big, would anyone really know who little ol' me would be?"

The Golden Girl of a large city on Earth. Her life is cushioned and luxurious. Born into a powerful militant family she's also the daughter under someone with a good range of wealth and connections. She's pursued an easy career in law enforcement.

Many benefits came with the Meray name. It is trusted, respected, and praised by default. It made them more gullible to her pretty prying peepers. Everyone had something to hide... Slowly she developed a hunger for intelligence and invested into her hobby of gadgets. Things that go unnoticed, buttons, rings, even a teddy bear played as her eyes and ears.

Nothing would prepare her for the corruption within the system. Files upon files of it. Even of her own father. To her dismay, she has made her more than a bargaining chip now. Her head could reveal the best kept secrets to criminals across the System.

Expected to be studying abroad she had made her decision to leave home. She has re-branded herself under the alias of Cassie Nova. (Sounds more like a stripper's name, but whatever.) With papers and passports, even a file in the system, she can prove her identity. (Not sure how she got away with that.) Jet black hair, blue contacts made her akin to Deborah Marey. But Deborah had gone missing a few years ago. Her things were found in a gutter, blood and hair found at the scene. No cameras, no leads, the tracking device in her arm found miles from her luggage.

In that time she intermingled with other law enforcement while climbing the ladder of favoritism. Invading more and more privacy. Amassing a ridiculous amount of information. In her time in law enforcement Nova's skills were focused in tinkering and sneaking. Shoot outs became less her thing after losing an eye. A fine replacement came to not only expand her memory, but hold proof of what existed.

Now she is offered a task far out of her comfort zone. Nothing could prepare her for Deadweight.
