Elle Joyner
Fracturer of Fairytales
Wren Mordavi
FACE CREDIT: Amandla Stenberg
WRITTEN DESCRIPTION: Light brown skin, a mess of dark brown curls and wide, bright brown eyes. A wide bridge of her nose, angled cheekbones and an infectious smile. Her frame is thin and small, even for her age, with hands and feet that are slightly too big for the rest of her.
While darker skinned, she is a vision of her grandmother, who was known for her expressive eyes and strong, Romanian chin.
Her ears are pierces and she is rarely seen without earrings - which are generally colorful in nature.

“To be honest, there’s not much to tell. I’m only thirteen, after all. I grew up in Kent, just north of the Dover Cliffs, with Mum and Dad and my baby brother, Bean… That’s not his real name, but it’s what I call him. They’re pretty all right, for parents. Mum talks… a lot and Dad gets really chuffed
when we lose in Premier League, but we’re about as normal as a family can be. Well… for a family that just found out their daughter is a witch, and only a couple short months before Boarding classes start. Course, Mum and Dad were a bit confused, but they’ve adjusted… sort of. Bean, well… he’s only two, so I don’t think he put much thought into it.
You might think they’d all be a little more concerned. You hear the word witch and most people think of the green faced, mole-on-the-nose, broomstick riding Halloween character. But when you grow up the way I did, it’s not so unusual for the word to come up in more positive conversations. See… we’re Romani. That’s the technical term for it. Some people call us Gypsies, but don’t ever do that if my uncle or cousins are around. It’s a bit of a slang word, and they don’t take kindly to it.

All that really basically means is we don't stay in any one place for long... and we tend to stick together with our own people. Once upon a time, my ancestors lived in caravans... the kind of really old carts they've got at the circus, and traveled from town to town, putting on shows for the local folks.
As for my family, well... once mum married dad, I guess she decided it was time to settle down. So they bought a house in Kent and that's where I came along. We still visit the rest of the Familia, though.
According to my grandmother, magic runs deep in our family… and while she never went to school for it, she was really excited when I got my letter. All I really know about magic, or Hogwarts is what I read in that letter, and the bit of peekin’ I did in my books, but I’m sure it’ll be loads of fun… Just hope I don’t go and blow myself up, first day.”
