Founder of Ravenclaw

Professor Rowena Ravenclaw was a Scottish witch who lived in the middle ages known best as a founder of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

• Rowena is known for her intelligence, being one of the greatest witches of the age.

• A popular theory is that she picked both the name and location of Hogwarts when she dreamt of a warty hog leading her to a cliff by a lake.

• She favored a sharp mind, wisdom, creativity, and cleverness, all characteristic of Ravenclaw students.

• The ever changing floor plan was devised by Rowena.
  
  ​
  
  
  
• It's unknown whether Rowena married or was born into the Ravenclaw family, though at some point she bore a daughter which she named Helena - whom is now the Ghost of Ravenclaw.

• She died some time in the 11th century from an illness. Legend says it's because of a broken heart when her daughter - Helena - ran away with her diadem.
